*READ THIS FIRST* Board organization suggestions

Welcome to September 2021 BMB!  If you're new to TB, we're excited to have you! Below you will find information on how the flow of BMBs work, guidelines and helpful links. I've borrowed this from other BMBs.

Some links that you may find helpful:

For the sake of board organization, here are some simple guidelines for posting threads:

DO:
-Introduce yourself in the "Introductions" thread
-Feel free to start one of the weekly posts listed below: if a post is "assigned" but hasn't been started by mid morning, feel free to start it!
-Post your own thread if you have a confirmed loss
-Post a thread that would apply to the entire community and doesn't fall into one of the categories for daily threads listed below (Ex: what to pack in your hospital bag, baby gear, etc)
-Comment, share advice and show support for your fellow bumpies; this is a two-way street, to get support, you must show it as well

DON'T:
-Start a thread asking about symptoms; please post this in the current weekly "symptoms thread"
-Ask the community if you are pregnant, it is against TOU
-Start a thread asking for relationship advice; a professional is better suited for this task
-Post pictures of your pregnancy test, this is also against TOU
-Post a thread that asks a question only applying to yourself unless you suspect you may be going through a MC
-Get bent out of shape if someone calls you out for not following these guidelines; if you expect to be part of a supportive board (which we are), you need to be able to take the time to learn the ins and outs of the board

Daily Threads: (please add the date to the thread title)

  • This is just... a lot of threads! I'm not against it but it also seems kind of exhausting to keep track of it all. I suggest making some of these threads monthly and having people that fit in thos categories check in frequently.  Like PGAL, MOMs,  etc. Thoughts?
  • It does seem like a lot when listed but it doesn’t seem like that after awhile. The old weekly check ins get buried and the new ones take their place. I feel doing it weekly offers better support or at least to me or does. The other random threads I don’t think each one for each day will be posted, enough to keep the conversation going but not enough to be overwhelming
  • In previous BMB’s this hasn’t been too much but there was much more activity. As things start to pick up and we get more people these will come and go quickly. If things don’t pick up then we might not need all of these.

    Dec 2020: Letrozole + TI - BFP!!! EDD 9/18

  • It does seem like a lot at first and some topics might naturally change over to monthly check ins if they don't get a lot of traffic. The last BMB I was on, they had people assigned to start a topic each week. Something we can think about doing once we are hitting due dates for the end of September and hopefully have more people on here!
  • It really isn’t a lot. The ticker change threads are really just a check-in thread and I don’t think any of the BMBs have been doing separate check-ins. It’s typically posted at the beginning of the week and then people post in it all week long. Then the other daily threads are what help keep the board more active.
  • I can definitely see where it seems like a lot.  As others have already said, they help keep the board active and they can help to offer better support. I know for me personally sometimes if I see a thread has started to get buried I may have something to say but not post to the thread.  My anxiety wind up yelling at me to not contribute since other people are “clearly over that discussion” (not true I know, but my anxiety is weird). For me the dailies each week help keep that at bay.

I also remember a time back before organised boards, when I was in March12. It was practically the Wild West with post left and right, and many comments or important questions getting lost. I am so on board for having organisation! Some of these dailies I’m sure will naturally progress to monthly, but I’m not sure we should count them out of weekly right away, we should probably see what level of traction they get.
  • I guess my last BMB had three reocurring threads - ticket change, monthly randoms, and then the daily bitchfest monday, twataffle Tuesday, Hdbd, etc.

I really liked the format since there weren't a ton of low-participation threads. If a MOMs or PGAL felt like it hadn't they'd start one, but it wasn't really weekly. We'd just keep the same thread and bump it, replacing it only if it got super lengthy.

Also, I generally feel like check-ins don't really build connection,  which is what I'm personally interested in. Since there usually isn't a lot of conversation, in my experience, just stats.

But if I'm the outlier than I'll happily do whatever seems best for the board. We'll figure out what works best as we go along, right?
  • I like the check in thread because it keeps me up to date on what’s going on with everyone. Keep in mind, our group will continue to grow over the next few weeks so there will be more people participating.
  • On my 2019 BMB we did weekly "week 1" "week 2" etc (due date week) check in threads instead of ticker changes, which I really liked. I felt it helped build smaller communities within our BMB and it was nice to be able to talk about appts, symptoms etc all around the same time as others who had the same due date week. I wonder if week check ins, instead of ticker changes, would connect everyone more?
  • @sleepydaze In my 2019 board we had the same and it worked really well.
  • @wiseh I recognize your username but I can’t pinpoint where I know you from.
  • @sleepydaze yeah, my previous BMB did that and it worked well, especially once more women were on the board it helped keep things a bit more organized and gave a smaller group that was more likely to have similar things going on with appointments and whatnot

@wiseh ummmm HELLO! Fancy seeing you here...I know where I recognize you from ;)

@emeraldcity1214 it's funny you say that, I feel like I recognize your username as well but also can't put my finger on it
  • @lmcw Were you apart of the J19 board? I was very active in that group but had to leave due to an early second tri loss. I was planning to stalk @wiseh when I had time to get on my desktop to see if I could pinpoint it. 😆

@emeraldcity1214 🙈 that’s what I just did with your username! I was in June’19 with my son. I was pretty sure that’s where I recognized you from and felt like I remembered you having to leave us ❤️ Glad you’re here!!
That’s where @wiseh is from too, we’re in the same FB group LOL
  • @lmcw Which FB group did y’all end up in? Didn’t the group split right before moving to FB? I’m in a group FB chat with one of the FB groups but I can never keep up. It moves way too fast for me to keep up.

@emeraldcity1214 our group is ladies who didn’t go to the original PG on the bump prior to FB. Some of us hadn’t been as active earlier so we stayed on the main board and then went straight to FB a bit later.

I think I heard that the PG split at some point? So maybe there are 3 groups from June’19, I don’t even know lol

    edit because damn spelling today
  • @lmcw I guess there are 3 groups. That BMB was pretty awesome. It was full of TTGP grads and I felt really connected to people even early on.
  • My thoughts on the weekly check-in. I think our group is too small to separate out into weeks. I also like reading everyone’s updates in one place. A would also prefer a separate symptoms thread so we can just list all our daily symptoms as they come and keep the check-in more about appointments etc. Not that we can’t mentioned symptoms in the check-in but a separate thread just so we have a place to complain.

@emeraldcity1214 perhaps at the beginning of Feb we could take a poll and see if everyone would like to have smaller check in groups or stick to 1 larger group. If there's not many more joining we could also split into 2 weekly check in groups. On my last BMB there was easily 20 ppl posting at each week group check in, I know if all those week groups had been combined I would have felt overwhelmed and probably wouldn't have participated, since there would have been so many posts to read. We could still encourage everyone to check out/comment on other week groups if they would like to...?
  • June 19 BMB I think @emeraldcity1214
  • @wiseh That’s awesome that we are in another BMB together.
  • @emeraldcity1214 with LMCW as well (who’s in the late arrival fb group with me)! How exciting for us all  <3
  • Now that it's mid February, should we do a poll to see if we want to make smaller weekly check in groups (lurking encouraged?)? Or should we still wait to see if more people join the board first?

Unrelated, but I've seen the post "Hump Day Bump Day" on other BMBs,  where you can post a picture of your bump on Wednesdays (can block out your face). Would anyone be interested in something like that?
  • @sleepydaze Sure! And I love the HDBD once there’s an actual bump to post. I feel bigger but I think it’s mostly bloat 😂
  • also wondering how many people are due towards the end of the month? It seems kinda front month heavy from what I remember from the intros
  • @sleepydaze HDBD isn’t usually started until after 12 weeks when people have an actual start of a bump and not just bloat.

We can go ahead and do a poll. Whatever the majority of people want is what we should do.
  • I’m always down for HDBD! I’m also fine with a larger group check-in. This group doesn’t seem overwhelming to me yet but I’m fine either way whatever everyone decides! @whatabout2ndbreakfast to answer your question I’m due on the 20th so I’m towards the back end.
  • I feel like it’s middle of the month heavy because there are lots of us due around the time I am. I also don’t mind 1 big check-in but that’s what I’m used to. I’m onboard with whatever everyone else wants.
  • I like 1 big check in to keep it more community feel and easier to follow instead of multiple threads.

vote for HDBD too. I don’t usually post in there but I like to see all the cute bumps and if people get creative and what they’re fashion 😂
  • Seems like the majority (so far) prefers splitting into an early September and late September weekly check in. Should we switch to the new groups tomorrow then?
  • @sleepydaze I think that’s a great idea!
  • Since we seem to have a relatively small group, would anyone be opposed to merging our weekly check-ins to one post?

    @williams-jen I’m cool w that
  • I kinda like the split group. Maybe we should do a poll.
  • I thought we already voted with a poll to do the two check ins. We had one big one for awhile and it was pretty cumbersome. I like two.

  • I'm happy with 2. I can't check in as regularly as I would like, and I feel like the smaller group helps me feel less overwhelmed with trying to keep up with everyone.
