@chicagomommy17 Wecome! Not sure if you're mobile-bumping or not, so my info might not make sense, depending on your platform. I updated my profile to say I was pregnant (I was active on the TTGP forum before this) and it asked me which BMB I wanted to join. So this one is bookmarked for me whenever I own the app. Hope that makes sense and is helpful!
How did you find out? TTC and had a very strong feeling about this time. Went out and got early test. Nothing, which usually would've discouraged me but I tried again a few days later and there was a faint line.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) Married teacher w a dog
TW: Had a MC at 6 weeks in March
First appointment? Any symptoms? Not for a few weeks! So until then I am just taking in all the info and trying not to be worried. I re-tested again once. Tons of food/smell aversions. Super tender breasts after sleep.
How did you find out? We weren’t really trying yet, but I was tracking and knew my O window, so it was always a possibility. Nevertheless it feels like a big surprise bc it took us almost a year to get pregnant with our son **TW*** after a late loss.
Tell us about yourself? DH and I are both lawyers, WFH and we have a 14 month old son.
TW: I have a rare issue with pregnancy called MPFD; basically my body attacks the placenta as a foreign object. It has an 80% recurrence rate in future pregnancies and the placenta can fail at any time.. there is no time that is ‘safe’. We lost a little girl to this. With my son, we were aware it would happen so I was on a regimen of medicines and frequent visits with both my regular OB and MFM. I had a c-section at 39 weeks and my dr told me my placenta was in horrible shape and we were lucky that we induced a little early or my son wouldn’t be here. SO with all of that I have a really hard time with pregnancy and while I’m so happy to be pregnant I’m totally petrified.
First appt/ any symptoms: I had a beta draw on Wednesday and another one this morning! Will see MFM in January. No symptoms yet except for terrible lower back pain.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you. Like @emily1052 I was in the October 19 group and love them so much, so I’m excited to be a part of this one too!!
I am a dental assistant. I have a 7.5 ur old DD and 6 us old DS. Been married for 10 years this past October. We have a blue nose pit named Olive.
No appt yet. Deciding this weekend if I want to use the OB I used for my last two or find a new one, have not been very thrilled with my yearly visits at the office and they deliver at a hospital 55 minutes away but idk what I think about the hospital closer to me!! Symptoms- lower back ache and exhausted!! Some mild cramping throughout the days
Hello to all! Due date? Due date based on LMP is August 4th
How did you find out? My period is always on time so when I was a few days late and still had sore breasts, I told my husband I thought I might be pregnant and got a pregnancy test. The test was positive almost immediately - it was a COMPLETE surprise! We've been married 5 years and have never gotten pregnant.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) This will be my husband and I's first child but we have a fur child, a 12 yo Boston Terrier who loves kids so I'm excited to see their dynamic. I'm a Data Scientist and my husband is a Prof/Researcher at a local University in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). We are avid F45'ers and love anything health and fitness and are very active people in general. I had just started taking horseback riding lessons again after many years of hiatus but unfortunately will have to put this on hold until baby is born. We are both SO excited for this new chapter in our lives and thankful for this surprise that we didn't know we wanted until now. It's insane how our entire world is revolving around this pregnancy and making sure we do everything we can to keep it safe. I'm 40yo so already at a greater risk.
First appointment? Any symptoms? I've already had my bloodwork and my betas were good and everything else has checked-out. My first US is on Monday and all I want is to hear a heartbeat. I'm actually really quite anxious for this appointment. Our area is going on lockdown on Monday so I'm not sure if my husband will be allowed in the room with me So many strange symptoms: breasts are sore AF (having to wear a double bra! I need high support bra suggestions ASAP! lol), lots of food cravings/aversions, some mild nausea here and there, and seems like my uterus is growing 10fold by the minute (feels like period cramps). Also, exhausted - all. the. time. Making it really difficult to focus at work.
I'm really looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!
How did you find out? We’ve been TTGP and went off BC this summer. I had mostly written off this month because I thought timing was all off and I was gearing up for my next cycle. I had been testing for days but all of them had been stark white. I had forgotten one day this week to test. The next day I tested with FMU, came back after my shower and saw a faint line. I tried to get as much urine as I could to use an FRER and again got a faint but definite line. It would put me at 4 weeks today.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I’m an ER nurse and in graduate school. I have one DD who is 7. MH and I just got married and bought a new house in August. I like reading, though I’ve been doing Audible instead for my commute to work.
First appointment? Any symptoms? no symptoms. I had a telephone appointment yesterday to ask for a blood hcg, which I hope to get drawn today. My OB won’t see me until January.
How did you find out? I was loosely tracking my cycle, did some OPKs to get a sense of O and have had sore boobs and cramps. Something just felt...different so I decided to test last night. Came back positive. Still surprised, our previous TTC journey was longer and more difficult. Its still early, but FX all goes well.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
We have one daughter, who just turned 3 last month. We are 32 and 34. Also have two dogs, labs. One is 13 and I think sadly won't be around much longer. We have had her since she was 6 months old, so its been hard to watch her health deteriorate.
First appointment:
Not sure. Haven't called. I have an OB, but she is different from the one who delivered my daughter. Contemplating going the mid-wife route.
@Panaceia that’s amazing! We must be in the same city, I think ours is the only one going into lockdown Monday? If we are, that’s insane and such a small world! Haha!
Looking forward to getting to know you and sharing our journeys.
@emmylou78@baby_yoda1986@bmo88 Congratulations!! I’m so happy for y’all! This BMB is shaping up to be a good one. It makes me sad I wasn’t able to stick around.
How did you find out? Took a test on 3+6 (Thursday)
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) One son who turns two in Feb, we have two dogs. I just recently started my own business, but sahm besides that. I enjoy reading, watching movies and playing card games. Tera is my wife, we've been married almost 4.5 years.
First appointment? Any symptoms? No appt yet. Have betas mon and wed. Sore nipples, exhaustion and always hungry are my symptoms so far.
Due date?: August 28 (based on date-of-conception)
How did you find out?: Thought I saw the whisper of a line last Monday/Tuesday (9/10 DPO), got a digital positive last Wednesday (11 DPO), have been lurking this group ever since but been too anxious to jump in until now!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): Both H and I are 29. I do publicity/communications for my local library system, H is a dentist. We have a Great Dane and two kitties, no kids yet. Cooking is definitely my (and H's) main hobby, I also do a fair amount of gardening, watching TV, and reading.
First appointment? Any symptoms?: Had first blood work this morning, second scheduled for Wednesday. My boobs definitely hurt but I'm not convinced that everything else I've been feeling isn't in my head at this point, haha.
@kiwimangohoneylemon With my girls I went at 4 weeks. With my MMCs I went at like 3+4 and 3+6. This time I couldn't get an appointment until tomorrow (I'll be 4+6).
@kiwimangohoneylemon Don't be worried! I only get betas because of my loss history. They didn't even tell me my numbers with my first, and I don't do repeats so the number basically means nothing. Betas are really not needed. If it makes you feel better I don't have my first u/s until 12+2 and I'm both high risk for age (41) as well as loss history.
@kiwimangohoneylemon with my first two pregnancies I didn't have any betas done* at all. My first appointment for both was around the 9 week mark. At that point they gave me the requisition for a blood draw to be done between 9-13 weeks, which was part of their normal screening for immunities, STDs, etc. The only reason my doctor is sending me for betas before 9 weeks this time is because of a recent loss in October. I think it can depend on your care provider as well as your situation, but certainly in my experience with a presumable low risk pregnancy, no appointments until 9 weeks is normal and nothing to be concerned about. That doesn't mean the waiting isn't hard though! *Edit to clarify: they did check HCG levels at the 9-13 week blood draw, but they were never reported to me.
@kiwimangohoneylemon same boat here. This is my first time getting betas for a pregnancy. I'm on my 6th pregnancy with only one living child. Totally normal to not have a first appt until after 8 weeks. If you have a previous loss history or had fertility treatments you are more likely to have earlier appts.
How did you find out? I was tracking my cycles - this was my first medicated cycle. I was getting vvvvvfl starting at 11 DPO but had a couple negative digitals so I thought I was out. My period didn't come and I was still turning tests and had a follow up appointment with my OB scheduled. My test there was negative but they sent me for a beta HCG test which was positive.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I'm an elementary school music teacher and DH is a branch manager for a bank. We have 1 DD who will be 3 in February and also have 3 kitties! I like doing crafty things like crocheting, cross stitching, and painting. I obviously love music and play several instruments too (my 4 main ones are voice, piano, ukulele, and flute).
First appointment? Any symptoms? I'll likely have another appointment next week, possibly adding progesterone depending on what my blood work indicates. I'm expecting to hear from my doctor today or tomorrow. Main symptoms have been sore boobs and intermittent nausea, but I've also occasional headaches, and some fatigue.
Hi there, bumping over here from July since my due date got finalized!
Due date? August 1 2021
How did you find out? We did IVF and found out via blood test.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) First pregnancy after years of trying. My husband is amazing and has been through every single step with me.
First appointment? Any symptoms? First appointment was at 5 weeks, then 7 weeks and today at 8 weeks. Baby is measuring 8w2d and heartbeat is 164.
How did you find out? Peed on a stick this morning. Figured AF is due any time but had some sticks to pee on so why not.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) i am older (37, I think 😆) i am happily married to my husband of 10 years (who doesn’t know I am pregnant yet!!) and we have 3 other children (girl 6, boy, 4, girl 19 months) I love crafting and have been keeping very busy make ornaments and stuff these months leading up to Christmas.
First appointment? Any symptoms? Haven’t scheduled anything.
No symptoms yet other than I’ve been a little more tired than usual.
The waaaiting! I also am trying to surprise my husband and it is soo obvious with my food aversions and cravings! I guess I already had some before, but... I was going to tell him the 25th, but I think I will have to go with the 24th!
How did you find out? POAS last night and this morning. Both positive.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
I already have 2 boys, 3 and 6. No pets, I’m a college student and SAHM. I just finished my degree requirements and were supposed to re-evaluate wanting more in 2022. Well, that changed. I’m having lots of feels about being pregnant and deciding what’s best for our family.
First appointment? Any symptoms? I’m exhausted, sleeping a ton, and my boobs are soooo sore. Telehealth appt on 1/26 and ultrasound on 2/11
How did you find out? Took a test the day after I expected my period. We'd been TTC for a few months so I wasn't trying to get my hopes up, but this was the first month that I was charting after reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, so I guess that worked. :)
Tell us about yourself. I'm a lawyer, 34 yo, and H is a graduate student, 32 yo. He's on the job market this year which is adding a layer of stress but will likely have the option to stay on for another year if he doesn't find anything. We also have a 2.5 yo rescue dog who is a high energy pitbull mix.
First appt? Symptoms? My first appointment isn't until 1/12 and I'm extremely impatient. So far, I've had sore boobs, been very tired, and had a few days of nausea. This is my first, so I don't think it will feel real until I see the ultrasound.
