So I’m thinking I must have a posterior placenta because this baby is moving NONSTOP!! We find out next week Tuesday boy/girl at the anatomy scan but I swear this little squish is already aware he/she will need to keep up with two rambunctious big brothers and is preparing.
@aisukurimsarang with my first kiddo I had IUGR and my second was considered SGA (small for gestational age) but both were induced early so they could arrange to intervene as necessary. DS1 spent a week in the NICU but DS2 was just fine and able to stay with me the whole time. I hope things progress right on track for you and baby!
@bbrahmbhatt I’m not really sure if nausea ever really left me. I’ve tried to go without unisom or zofran a few times but if I don’t take them both I’m just miserable and go right back to all day nausea and puking. The best I’ve gotten to is only needing to take two zofran a day instead of three.
I’m late to the conversation about skin care, but I’ve been using a charcoal bar soap by Yes to Tomatoes (or whatever that brand is called!!) and then using just an astringent a couple times a week. I have a jar of a lotion with a honey base I like too. But I think it’s honestly more of the weather changing and wearing masks that’s causing my breakouts right now. Pretty much along my jawline from them, but I guess at least the mask hides it when I’m out too, right!
Also late to the conversation about skincare. I had been using derma E night cream, and I didn't think to check the ingredients when I got pregnant because I thought of it as a pretty natural cream. Of course, it has retinol in it. I'm mad I didn't stop using it but it seems like topical retinol in low doses isn't a big deal, so I'm trying not to worry. Since then I've been trying to use a little as possible on my skin/hair. Just castile soap to wash, and some rose water spray for my face. I also use a little burts bees baby oil on my face if it feels dry. I've definitely had some acne pop up so maybe I'll try out some other (carefully checked) products to help with that.
Having a hard time this past week with the weight gain. I can't stop eating junk, first with halloween candy and now with holiday goodies, and I think if I controlled that better I would feel more confident in "I'm gaining what I'm supposed to be gaining". I also know I am hyper aware of the uncomfortable feeling since I have a history of emotional/binge eating that only stopped when I went to therapy for it.. I know it's stress eating since I'm working from home and have a constant worry about Covid in our area (numbers getting really high) with DS in his in home daycare during the day. I hate the out of control feeling with my body. bleh.
@eahayes As long as you’re not in danger of/having medical issues—diabetes etc—I say there is no “supposed” to be gaining. I’m normally a size 4. I gained 50 lbs with each of my first 2 kids and I’ve gained 20 so far at 20 weeks with this one. The first time I let the doctors get to me and tracked everything I ate on paper, counted calories, dreaded the scale, blah blah. Second time I didn’t. Same gain both times. And both times I lost the first 30 lbs after 2 months and the rest by 6 months. Your body knows what it needs and everyone stores it differently. I hate this universal emphasis of saying a pregnant woman “should” do anything. We’re all different! Don’t sweat it!!
That being said I have struggled with binge eating in the past as well. The real battle is fought at the grocery store (or the online cart 🛒). If you don’t have it you can’t eat it! I traded my cookies and baked goods for froyo and watermelon. Don’t get me wrong I also have a jar of Nutella I eat with a spoon 🥄 all about the balance.
Random - I got a 90 prenatal massage today and it was HEAVEN! Not going to lie, I momentarily counted how much it would cost to do this weekly for the next 20 weeks LOL.
I have been craving buffalo chicken wings this entire pregnancy. That’s actually been my only consistent craving across all of my pregnancies. I figured I’d put my Prilosec to the test today and gave in to my craving. I’m not going to say that was the best move ever 🔥 but WOW they were tasty 😂
@theblondebump I need a massage so badly! Did you go to spa or have someone come to your house? I’ve been considering finding a masseuse that will do a massage in our backyard to keep it COVID safe.
@jenn622-2 went to a spa! They had a lot of safety measures in place and the therapist and I both wore masks the whole time. I wanted the spa experience, but a massage anywhereeee sounds good haha
Oh my gosh I had the craziest dream the other night. For real my 2 year old woke up at like 4:30 and came to my bed and I just let it be because I was not ready to wake up, but he proceeded to toss and turn for the next two hours. Meanwhile I was having a dream that I was the real darth vader and I was holding this horse shoe shaped thing with all these bars and buttons on it. This item was actually the portal that opened the door to the entire universe and creatures from all over the galaxy were coming through it into my bedroom. My husband was annoyed because he wanted to sleep and just kept asking “how are they getting in here!” And then an old coworker from a year ago appeared and she was the person in charge of checking off all creatures from other galaxies coming to Earth and was right there in my bedroom with a clipboard complaining they were coming through so fast and she didn’t know some of their classifications and apologizing for being in our room but she had to go where the portal was. And they were all coming because they wanted the vaccination fir covid too and she had to determine which ones were eligible and what dose they needed based on their species. I was trying to hide this portal key too for real and holding my hand weird under the blanket so my husband didn’t see. It was so bizarre!!
Speaking of bonkers dreams, I dreamt I delivered a boy while driving home, and since I am carrying a girl, obviously I was having twins. In my dream, I discovered (while driving) a pro lapsed cord. Did I go back to the hospital? No. I drove to another one because I didn't want my OB to tell at me for leaving the hospital while in labor!
@Serenamarr somehow just saw your response right now- thank you for that! you're so right and that helps to hear Important for me to remind myself how different each pregnancy can be, and to embrace the unknown as best I can (while maintaining normal habits)
Sometime between January and Nov 2016, my central heat died. Since it couldn't be repaired, and the AC worked, AND we live in an area where you use it maybe 10 to 20 days a year, the 10K cost to replace the HVAC system wasn't worth it.
But, moving into a new house this summer, it's SOOOOOO nice to have heat again! It's going to be 27 tonight, and I'm looking forward to that heat in the morning when we get up and moving. Waking to 68 degrees is much better than 55, and then cleaning the over to get the house temp to 65.
Our 1 year old is bilingual, my husband is not, and I am in our bedroom giggling that he’s in the other room sternly trying to tell him to “get down from there” in a language he doesn’t speak instead of just telling him in English. 🤷♀️
I had a dream last night that the baby was born now. Like, around 20 weeks. He was a good size and DH and I were both like I thought he’d be 11 ounces (which is what they estimated his weight to be at our appointment IRL the other day). But we brought him home and everyone was just going about their business like we didn’t have this baby that we hadn’t prepared for. DH went back to work. His nursery wasn’t ready, we didn’t have any baby boy things. The baby also spoke in complete sentences and I was so annoyed. I kept thinking “I’m supposed to have some time with you before you start talking nonstop.” 😂
@BuckeyeNut05 I love that and that your response was to just eavesdrop and laugh at the situation! Sounds like the best response!
@bblair24 some of the pregnancy dreams I had in the past stuck with me. I remember one where DS1 born with neonatal teeth and everyone kept telling me is shouldn’t affect breastfeeding and I was making it up that it hurt!
I was playing hide and seek with my kids this morning and trying to decide how legitimate of a hiding spot I should find later and maybe just take a blanket and sneak a nap. DH is home today...
@mamabee1113 I hear you! I am a ‘must have a La Croix in my hand at all times during the day” kind of girl and I keep having to turn off my video in the middle of meetings to go take bathroom breaks. Nothing worse than when it hits in the night, though.
@mamabee1113@BuckeyeNut05 +1 for peeing all the time! I swear go before I leave for work, take my 15 minute commute and have to go again by the time I get in the building.
Also, anyone dealing with restless legs? Mine are achy/tingly all the time and I constantly feel like I have to move or stretch them at night. So annoying.
Screw these pregnancy dreams. I just vividly dreamed my one year old got hit by a car and can’t get the image of her brain on the road in front of my childhood home out of my head. F. This.
@Serenamarr I'm sorry about that dream, I had a really crappy one the other night and it took the whole morning to get over it.
@theletlers@juliebird6@bblair24 I will join you on the mean girl train. I had all sorts of snarky replies in mind but this board is just so different than the other ones so I didn't want to be THAT woman.
@Serenamarr, I'm sorry about that dream. They're the kind that stick with you long beyond. My BFF had a similar one when she was pregnant that her 8yo opened the car door on the highway and fell out. She set the child locks and didn't undo them for YEARS! She still talks about, 11 years later.
@theletlers@juliebird6@bblair24@riff323 one more over here! I was just laughing when I read it...I didn't even know what to say to that lol. I was wondering if anyone would say something, but everyone on this board is so nice
@Serenamarr I'm so sorry about that dream! These pregnancy nightmares are the WORST.
@Serenamarr oh man that’s tough! Hopefully tonight is a dreamless sleep!
@bbrahmbhatt I think you jinxed me, I had to literally stretch in the middle of the night because my legs were so restless and achy!!
Also can it be nap time yet? My 2 year old has sort of dropped off on naps lately but is sleeping better. But my 5 year old decided 3:30 was just the right time to wake up for the day and that we should have a conversation about Mario. He never went back to sleep and sometime after 5 I turned on the other half of Home Alone 3 for him that we had started last night. He just stayed awake for the whole thing.
Between my nose being dry as a desert at 12:30, my legs needing to stretch at 2, and him up at 3:30 I’m exhausted. It stinks too because DH was gone at work all night so got home at 8 and went to bed.
I have an in person job interview Weds. I've had several zoom ones that have made it easy to hide my pregnancy. Mostly, I think people who don't know will just assume I'm fat. I don't really show until 24w or more pregnant, but I'm still worried.
Any suggestions on what to wear to a formal interview that hides my stomach? It's just the top part that's big this time.
@theletlers I cracked up when I read the comment about the back fat post! Sorry to break it to ya, chica, but that is not a pregnancy symptom, that’s you. And if that is your biggest worry right now.....?!
I was also waiting for some snark with my popcorn but I decided to be a nice girl and just keep my mouth shut.
@aisukurimsarang good luck in your interview! I would just get a flow-y maternity top (that’s not obviously maternity) and top it with an open blazer? You can maybe tuck it a teeny bit near one of your hips and let the rest of the shirt flow out so it’s not obvious.
@BuckeyeNut05, I am very.... Gifted in the breast area (38DDD not pregnant). I though that might work since my chest will push out the top, lol. And yes, I was planning to wear a brown Faux suede swing jacket. So maybe a pink or green top and black slacks?

@theletlers def take advantage and take that nap.
