For Thanksgiving I made an awesome spiced pumpkin soup that I topped with some lump crab. After about a half cup I decided I was over it (luckily everyone else loved it). There's a lot of crab leftover, though, so was planning to make a crab pasta dish for dinner. Not really feeling it now, particularly since I just realized that Imperfect Foods forgot our parmesan cheese...
@akoros my mom told me stories of how she would crave something, cook it, and by the time it was ready to eat, she didn't want it anymore. I guess smelling the dish can satisfy half the cravings
@wendy838 that's how I feel!! Can't stop thinking about something and then I get it in front of me and ick. Except with red peppers which are amazing right now.
@wendy838 Yeah, I wasn't necessarily craving it but my husband wanted something different for Thanksgiving (since it was just us and my parents), so we ate dinner later and had lunch of baked brie and spiced pumpkin soup. Maybe I was just too into the brie? I objectively know it's good, just wasn't feeling it at all. Pasta turned out well, though! Crab blended well with the sauce, so the "fishy" taste wasn't as pronounced (again, I normally love that, but apparently not now...)

Would you mind sharing your spiced pumpkin soup recipe? That sounds amazing.
I totally get what mean about being over foods though. I have been wanting twice baked potatoes so badly. My husband made them for me last night, and they were amazing...but I only could eat half a potato before I got sick.
Spiced Pumpkin Soup (makes ~8 side/appetizer servings, or 4 large entree-sized servings)
Melt 1.5Tbs butter/oil in large pot over medium high heat. Add .75c chopped carrots + .75c chopped celery + .75c ripe bananas (~1 banana) + 1/2 chopped onion + 1 minced garlic clove + 1 bay leaf + 1 whole clove. Sauté until soft, ~10 minutes. Add 4c chicken stock + 2c canned/mashed pumpkin + 1 can unsweetened coconut milk (I used light) + 2T sugar (raw or brown, preferably) + 1 tsp ground nutmeg + .5 tsp ground cinnamon + .5 tsp ground coriander + .5 tsp crumbled dried sage leaves (I just used ground sage) + .25 tsp ground allspice + .25 tsp yellow curry powder + salt and pepper. Bring to boil over medium high heat, ~15 minutes to blend flavors. Remove bay leaf and clove. Purée soup in blender or with immersion blender until smooth. Pour back into pot, adjust seasonings to taste (might need a little sugar or milk/cream; I also added more curry powder). Sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro (if desired)
Some tips:
Be *very* careful when blending the soup, particularly if you use a regular blender or food processor. If you have time, may be better to let the soup cool and blend it later
I made it the day before and then reheated and tweaked the day of. This worked out really well
I didn't do it this time, but generally it's a good idea to cook/temper the dried spices. Next time I'd probably throw them in with the initial oil and vegetables
I served it topped with some lump crab. Steamed/sauteed shrimp would also work well, or maybe sauteed shiitake mushrooms for a vegetarian option. Can be creative with the toppings
I have been craving Everything Bagels. This is the first food item that I normally don't like that I have been craving and eating during a pregnancy. DH loves them, so I keep telling him this is definitely his baby.

I just ordered from Wegmans. Brussel sprouts, bacon, tres leches cake, sour patch kids, pomegranates and honey crisp apples 🤣🤣🤣. My cravings are all over the place today
@legallykate I am so jealous of anyone with access to Chipotle!!! The bowls just look and sound like perfection!
We are really lacking in Mexican style takeaway food in NZ.
I've been craving cheesy pasta with tonnes of black pepper, granny smith apples, tomato and cheese on crackers and coke no sugar which I'm trying to limit but its good for managing headaches I find.
Pizza sounds awesome. We have a local pizza place that does this amazing thin crust pizza near our house. My SO has been having stomach issues and is doing a no dairy thing so we can't get pizza, ugh! I think he might break down tonight, though, he's been talking about it all week. If not, I'm buying a personal size digiorno at the store tomorrow
+1 for pizza cravings. What’s everyone’s go-to toppings?? we always get pepperoni, bacon, mushroom and green peppers so wanting to try something different.
@wendy838 I’m craving just pepperoni or pepperoni and black olive.
We have a wide variety of normal pizza orders depending on where we are ordering and what we are feeling like. Here are some of our favorites: Greek (tomato, spinach, broccoli, feta); special/works (pepperoni, mushroom, green pepper, onion, hamburger, sausage); chicken finger and broccoli; pepperoni, mushrooms, meatball calzone; steak and cheese calzone with American cheese, Mayo and ketchup (no red sauce, no pizza cheese).
The place we usually order from does a lot of specialty toppings. I like one they do with pesto, chicken, garlic, mushrooms, and spinach. There's another one with white sauce, tomato, and bacon. My all time fave is a more basic one with red sauce, sausage and roasted green chilis. omg I want pizza so bad right now!
When we do takeout its a compromise of pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onion, and garlic.
DH makes a mushroom pizza with lots of garlic and olive oil instead of sauce that’s amazing. We are having it tonight. I’m praying I’m not sick so I can stuff my face.
@mindyb2019 perogies are one of our Christmas Eve foods so DH was making them last weekend to freeze so it would be less to do the week of. He made potato and bacon ones with his homemade bacon... Soooo good.
Re: Your Craving What!??
@akoros calories definitely do not count

In my first BMB we were all obsessed with pizza hut pizza
I’ve been craving anything salty and spicy 🌶 I’ve had a burrito, flaming hot Cheetos, spicy menemen
It’s so annoying not wanting anything one moment and then being so hungry I want to vomit the next 😞
