I'm team convertible seat. For DS1 we had (have) a convertible seat in the main car, and had a hand me down bucket seat in the secondary car... that bucket seat literally never left the car. We have a stroller that can be positioned for infants without a bucket seat, and we did baby wearing otherwise.
@karacc18 they do. The plastic wears down with the temperature changes, especially if you live somewhere with real seasons. Maybe see if a friend has one you can borrow?
Add me to team bucket seat. The absolute best in colder weather. We have the uppababy Mesa and my kids both used it for over a year before switching to convertible - but I make small babies so I can see that not appealing to people with higher weight babies
Anybody have experience having dental work done in the first tri? I cracked my tooth (blargh!!) and dentist said it is safer to fix it in the second tri BUT ALSO wouldn't recommend waiting that long. Talking to my doctor today but I'm not really sure what she will say.... if she says "the risk is up to you" or something like that then I'll be screwed cause I really don't know!
@canucklehead123 are you in pain from it? Why would the dentist recommend not waiting a few weeks? I don't have any experience with this but wondering what the reasoning behind it is for you
Is anyone on Prometrium (progesterone) suppositories? Wondering how long your docs recommended you stay on them. When I asked at my ultrasound she said "Well we usually say 8 weeks but you can do 10 for peace of mind" ummm ok?? I recall with my pregnancy for my daughter they had me on it for 11 weeks and I continued to 13 because I was paranoid.
@canucklehead123 I had a ton of dental work done during my last pregnancy. We decided on a dental treatment plan and then I found out I was pregnant. My dentist did it all during the second trimester as well.
@karacc18 why are you on progesterone? Just curious bc it’s something I have questions about for me. My old OB had her set of recommendations but we moved out of state so I’ll be seeing a brand new one and wondering how her opinions will differ
@karacc18 the risk is that the crack gets deeper, damages the root and then I'd have to permanently lose my tooth... but who knows if that would happen or not in the next 7 weeks. And yes lots of pain when I bite down on the crack, so it's not a constant pain but excruciating when that does happen.... Ah I just don't know!!
@DuchessOfCambridge I've been on it since I went for my CD 21 bloodwork to confirm ovulation. My progesterone showed ovulation occurred (obviously, I'm pregnant lol) but the levels were on the low side, so I've been on it since then. I have read lots of information on how they can't really say whether or not being on it can stop a miscarriage from happening, but it's one of those things like "hey, it can't hurt?".
I was on it earlier this year when *TW* I had the MMC and I wondered to myself if had i not been on them would I have just had a miscarriage with bleeding, etc? Not that any type of lost pregnancy is better, but the shock of being told at an ultrasound was just plain awful. Almost like the progesterone stopped it from taking it's natural course? IDK I'm rambling....
@Beckyf321 I'm 34 and will be 35 when baby is born. Does anyone know if you are AMA if you turn 35 before delivery but not through your whole pregnancy?
I am almost 8 weeks pregnant and although I do feel sick/nauseous/ gaggy after I eat. I have generally felt fine aside from fatigue. I am not used to such mild symptoms as my first pregnancy I was nauseous all day long. I have always been told the sicker you are the healthier the baby is. Which makes me worried that I should be feeling sicker. This is my second pregnancy and I had a miscarriage in September so I am on high alert about every little thing. Does anyone have any addition insight to help me relax and feel better about this pregnancy ?
@mamatohayleygirl that’s just an old wives. Deep breaths. PGaL mantra is “today I am pregnant”. Just gonna have to take it one day at a time. Every pregnancy is different. This is my 11th (hopefully 5th earthside baby) and some were different than others. Try to just enjoy the fact that you don’t have any of the yucky symptoms that pregnancy can sometimes bring along. Hugs!
@mamatohayleygirl, I wish I had some Sage advice, but I think @riansmommie said it best. I had my first MC last year and my symptoms have been very minor compared to my other 3 pregnancies. It’s got me worked up into a tizzy. Thankfully, I go to the doctor Tuesday. Just take it day be day and repeat the mantra. And come here anytime you need support. ❤️
Also, @mamatohayleygirl, one of my friends from my last BMB suggested getting a bunch of cheap tests from the dollar store and testing daily for reassurance. ❤️
@Beckyf321@mamatohayleygirl I've read a couple times on the First Tri "this is what a positive pregnancy test really looks like" thread that you can have too much HCG in your body for a HPT to process which could be very confusing/devastating without actually meaning anything. Just to give you a heads up if you are going to go down this route of testing every day.
Anybody tried Fiber one bars for constipation? I am a pgal girl so any cramping associated with constipation puts me into anxiety overload! Wondering about non-medicine options for relief
@hannahcampbell2017 I take two fiber pills every day and have managed to stay regular since I started those. On days when I miss them I definitely feel it. I just take them with my prenatal. Also PGAL so totally hear you on the anxiety. Also, make sure you're drinking lots of water. I also take 250mg of magnesium which was recommended by my ob last time to help with constipation as well.
I had a missed miscarriage earlier this year and i had enough HCG in my system to be considered "pregnant" for like 6 weeks after I had the D&C. I would not rely on taking tests. I can really mess with you.
@daisy528 our daughter will be 4 in January, and my first ultrasound is conveniently a few days before. We got a sweatshirt off Etsy that says “b is for big sister” with a couple of big sister books that we are going to have her open . That’s also how we will tell our families if everything goes well at the appointment. We will just take a picture of her wearing it and text it to everyone since we are a couple hours away and not visiting for holidays or anything because of covid
@karacc18 I think the expiration dates are on there because the materials break down after so long, but I might be wrong about that. I still need to check the expiration on ours from our daughter and see if it’s usable. Target allows you to bring in old car seats that aren’t usable anymore and they’ll recycle them and give you a % off on new ones. Here’s a link for more info!
Does anyone else usually take anti-anxiety/depression meds? If so, are you still taking them or planning to take them throughout pregnancy? I stopped taking my sertraline when I found out I was pregnant (even though doc said I could continue) because there isn’t a ton of information of effects on pregnant women and I get really weird about medications in general during pregnancy. I suffered with depression during pregnancy and ppd pretty bad after the last time and I’m just curious if anyone else is in the same boat. The mood swings have been killer, but hard to say if it’s just hormones or a combo of hormones and my brain adjusting to no meds. I’m going to bring it up at my phone appt in a couple weeks and see if OB has any other insight that my GP didn’t.
I take 50mg of Zoloft every day. My ob said it was better for me to be in a good mental place (even more so because I’m pgal). It’s a low dose and as long as it’s under 250mg it is safe for baby
@marikkita12 that’s good to know! I take a really low dose 25mg, cut back from 50mg, of sertraline as just bare minimum to let me work through my own crap but to be honest I always forget how mental health affects your body. That’s a really good point and something I’m going to have to keep a closer eye on. Thanks for the reply
@jessd0117, I’m currently on 30 mg of Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and will discuss it with my provider at my first appointment tomorrow. I see the clinical pharmacist at the base clinic and had a phone conference with her last week. She said there’s just not much research on it in pregnancy and will switch me to Zoloft if my midwife recommends it. This is my first pregnancy on medication, though.
@beckyf321 I take the generic brand of Zoloft which I guess is supposed to be pretty safe during pregnancy, I don’t have any experience with other kinds so I haven’t done any research on others. I’m going to keep researching it and talk to the Dr about it, but I will most likely resume taking it since it’s such a low dose and makes such a big difference. The first 2 weeks on it make me REALLY drowsy while I adjust to it, on top of pregnancy fatigue, I might as well stay in bed for 2 weeks lol
@jessd0117 I’m in 100mg of sertraline and not planning on getting off it. Both my PCP and OB were very comfortable with me being on it. I’ve had two traumatic births plus PPD and I just don’t need to feel like garbage right now. I’m a better mom to my other kids when I’m on it and with advice from medical professionals I’m planning to continue. It’s a very personal decision as is all medication during pregnancy, and I believe me coming off it would be more harmful than beneficial
@jessd0117 Thanks I did see that earlier this year. I am hoping they do it again in the Spring. I didn't buy one this weekend in Black Friday/Cyber Monday because I bought so much other crap.
Any other rainbow moms in the group? How are you balancing the joy and worry? We’ve had 2 MC and this little one is the first to get a heartbeat but we’ve got a ways to go. Trying to enjoy it but also have that little voice in the back of my head trying to keep me from getting too excited. We told our families as soon as the knew the first time and talking them about the MC was just awful for all.
Talk to your OB bad PYSCH. I am tapering off my meds because the hormones seem to be balancing out my mood and I am hesitant as well. My docs were both supportive of my choice to stay on or not, but coming off need to safely taper to avoid symptoms from immediate withdrawal. Hope it helps!!
