@lurvleybunchococonuts First off, I am so glad Georgie is doing great! And that they were both super active I am so glad you feel comfortable and confident with your MFM team and I will keep you all in my thoughts, hoping that everything looks good at your next appointment! I know you must be stressed and worried and I just hope that all is well and that Dottie keeps growing I bet she is a fighter!
@mama-buckets oh that is great to hear! I am so glad your OB was so positive about everything and that he was able to give you a bit of piece of mind. I hope your MFM appointment is more good news and reassurance!
I had my OB checkup this morning, it went well! She measured my belly and listened to the heartbeat, which was 145. She said based on measurements he is growing on track so she isn't worried as of now! She said we will do next growth scan at 30 weeks as long as my measurements still look good at my next appointment (28 weeks). I also got my glucose drink and everything for next appointment, and they told me that since I am RH neg I will have to have blood drawn and another rhogam shot, as well as TDAP at next appt. So fun times! I am just relieved he seems to be growing on track so far and she reassured me that marginal cord insertion babies are normally born healthy and happy, full term.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I think I can shed some light! non-stress test is a super routine test that they do where you just sit in a chair and they strap a monitor to your belly and that's it. you just sit there and they wait and watch the screen to make sure they see the appropriate amount of accelerations of the heart rate in a set amount of time. easy peasy, and if baby isn't cooperating they have this little tool to kind of vibrate your belly for a second and that gets the job done.
biophysical profile (BPP) is just another way of saying ultrasound to check growth. again, my OB does this standard for everyone at about 36 weeks to have a better idea of size, fluid levels, etc. so another easy peasy bonus look at your sweeties!
and dopplers are just the fetal heart monitors that they use at every visits to listen to baby's heartbeat. nothing to worry about there.
sounds like you are in great hands

@mama-buckets I'm so glad you're more reassured about your appt ❤ let us know how Friday goes!
@bserena hooray for a good appt! Good luck witb your GTT! Reminds me that I need to check when mine is 🤦🏻🤣
@magdaaaa ohhhhh wonderful! Thank you so much for the info! Any idea how the BPP differs from a scheduled "growth scan"? Vast majority of my appts look like a non-stress test before every appt followed immediately by a "multiples growth scan" every 4 weeks with "dopplers" on the other weeks. I also have a BPP, a fetal echo and a neurosonogram scheduled.

Oh lordy, lol... so they posted to mychart a visit summary from my appt which I am one of those dweebs that always takes a look at them. Apparently MFM is requesting NSTs TWICE a week starting at 28 wks. Once in their office and the other at my OBs. I'm curious if my OB is aware because I've been in contact with her and she hasn't mentioned anything about scheduling them yet. So I'll have to ask her about that. #gettingreadytoeatsleepbreathdoctors
Also, at my appt we decided to do a blood test on me testing for toxoplasmosis and CMV antibodies (two potential infections that *could* cause the fetal brain development issues). Got those results today. So toxoplasmosis is negative meaning I have never ever in my short legged life had it and therefore Dottie for certain does NOT have it either. Awesome! CMV results are inconclusive as I feared. So I have IgG antibodies for CMV, meaning I have had CMV at some point in my life (along with 60% of the population), but I do NOT have IgM antibodies for it, meaning I have not had a *recent* CMV infection. So they're following it up with a CMV avidity test (thankfully on the retained sample). Apparently a high avidity means I have NOT had CMV within the past 4 or so months (granted I'm further than 4 months pregnant, but lower chance of having Dottie been exposed to it). A low avidity means I HAVE had a CMV infection since being pregnant for certain. We can't do anything regarding it, but *the more you know* I guess. If you've read this far and are still with me in understanding what I'm talking about... good on you. Here's a cookie for your troubles

@lurvleybunchococonuts oh wow! That's a lot to digest! No joke about #gettingreadytoeatsleepbreathdoctors! I was just talking to my mom about some of her births. After some complications with previous pregnancys she had a ton of appointments when expecting my sister so when my sister came 6 weeks early, she was super excited to cross off lots of appointments from her calendar. 😜Thankfully my sister was born healthy which is not always the case with early babies. It's amazing what can be found and diagnosed nowadays with all the tests they can do. Hope both babies continue to grow and be healthy and glad you have a good team taking care of all 3 of you♡
Thanks ladies 💚💜 @babywiik yeeeaaahhhhh lol. It'll be busy that's for sure. Glad to hear your sister was healthy and okay coming early it is really amazing everything they know and can test for these days. I know MH has been sharing the info but not in great detail with my inlaws because we don't want to hear the "well that wasn't a thing when I was pregnant with YS" (MH is adopted but his mom has 1 bio daughter from a previous marriage) or "well I've never heard of that" 🙄🙄🙄 she tries, but if she doesn't know about something she'll be very blasé about it. I know it was ignorance, but she asked MH what we could have done differently to prevent what's going on (about what she does know about) and I RAGED. I know she didn't know we didn't "cause" it and she wouldn't know w/o asking, but tact 🤦🏻

@lurvleybunchococonuts im sorry! i understand why more details isn't better in regards to you MIL. None if this stuff is new for pregnancy, it's only that now they know what it is and what to do so there is a higher survival rate for moms and babies! It reminds me of when people try to say that back in the day no one had ADHD, allergies, dyslexia, autism, etc so it all must be caused by something that parents are doing wrong🤦 well of course "no one" had any of those things because if they did they either died or got sent to institutions. Thanks for my little soap box. I know that I don't know everything there is to know but sometimes I'm mind blown by others way of thinking!
@babywiik exactly! It's bizarre the difference between people. The one side (normal people IMO) who say wow it's amazing what we know now and can test for/treat/be aware of. And the stuck in the past people who say well that never was a thing in the past. Sadly there's just no point in attempting to explain it to some people.

Okay! So I had my MFM appointment today (US pics in the US thread). Aside from the check in being a total ‘s’ show, the appointment went REALLY well. The tech asked me 3 or so times what I was there for (even though I provided my full prenatal records and referral 🙄).
Any way! I was able to FaceTime my husband for this ultrasound which I was suuuperr happy about since he hasn’t been able to see his little girl in action since she was the size of a gummy bear. The procedure gets underway, and the tech asks again “are you sure they were concerned about her measurements?” After confirming for the 4th time, she mentioned that everything is measuring spot on for baby girls GA. I was ELATED to hear this. She must’ve checked the head measurements 15 times. Even checked her femur measurements which have been trending a bit behind, and THOSE were spot on. She was completely confused how the other facility could have gotten the measurements SO wrong, and was convinced little bit wouldn’t have grown THAT much in 2 weeks. I’m so thankful that everything went well today. The doctor came in to do the consult after and basically told me I didn’t have to come back, but if I wanted to, they would schedule me for 10 weeks out. I opted to come back for a recheck in 10 weeks just to be sure she’s still on track, since I had one set of measurements that were off, and another that were right on. I’m also going to try to avoid going back to that other facility if possible. Not only have they somehow completely messed up the measurements, but they really didn’t do much in the way of compassionate care given the current circumstances.
@mama-buckets what wonderful news! That is great 💜 so glad baby is measuring correctly!

Hi ladies. Trying to catch-up with everyone as I've been MIA on TB. I shared in my week 2 weekly update group that I've had some trouble with the app and also just been avoiding a bit (PGAL brain).
So I go here. I'm part of that fun AMA group at 36 (give me my cane) and am seeing an MFM in addition to my midwife. This pregnancy has been an emotional rollercoaster. To summarize if you haven't been on another thread with me or you have pregnancy brain like me and sometimes struggle keeping everyone straight: found out having twins at 8 weeks; started to believe this pregnancy was going to make it then found out at 18 wk AS that one twin died and concerns for heart on baby boy; contractions started before hitting 19 weeks, checked and cervix is closed; 21 wk AS repeat showed baby boy's heart is okay but one kidney is enlarged and marginal cord insertion so both things my MFM is going to monitor and told me not to worry about; had possible COVID-19 exposure - person had symptoms but was refusing testing so my midwife wanted me to get tested and I had to cancel my last appointment; still waiting on my test results from July 11th but the 3 people I was exposed through all tested negative and it's been 3 weeks with no symptoms so I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow.
I'm so excited for my appointment tomorrow because July 2nd was my last appointment. Contractions have not stopped and so I'm on a semi-bed rest. I'm supposed to sit/lay down anytime I feel them (lol, they're like all the time and don't stop) and drink lots of water. Since I'm sitting/laying down most of the time my weight gain has been a lot more than previous pregnancies so I'm nervous about GB. I've failed the one hour before but passed the 3 hour. But I have two kiddos already so it's not like I can do a strict bed rest and with the pandemic my access to help with childcare is limited and not consistent. Also, even laying down there are times my contractions escalate to the point that I think I'm going to have to go in. I've also had a lot of pelvic pressure, lightning crotch, and back aches the last few days. So I really just want to get my cervix checked tomorrow and listen to baby boy's heartbeat.
@kelk5 That sounds very stressful! I’m so sorry that you have had to deal with so much! Hopefully your appointment tomorrow helps give you some piece of mind.
@Kelk5 ughh girl I am so sorry you have all that going on! I hope your appt goes well tomorrow! I do recall you posting about losing one of your twins I am so sorry. The stress of that plus worrying about baby boy while having contractions must be such a rollercoaster from hell. Plus bed rest with other kids at home is almost laughable. You're doing great momma 💜 thinking of you and sending all the good, positive vibes/thoughts/prayers

Good news at my appointment this morning. My cervix is still closed so that's a relief that even though there were times I thought labor might be starting, the contractions are not productive! Yay! I learned an interesting fact too. My midwife said that when you are pregnant for the first time your cervix is like a cylinder that is closed on the top and bottom. Subsequent pregnancies it's more like a funnel, so the bottom is open but the top is closed. So I'm just continuing on. Thanks for the support ladies ❤️
@lurvleybunchococonuts have you started the twice weekly NST yet? Is your office fairly close for that high frequency of appointments? And your MIL makes me roll my eyes so hard they go all the way around. I'm always amazed that some people still think like that.
@kelk5 So glad to hear your appt went well today! That must be a relief. Keep cooking baby boy Also, lmao some of the things my MIL has said *facepalm* I love her but good googa mooga she drives me bonkers. She's getting better...ish in some ways and more crazy in others. Like the day of our first MFM appt as we drove home she called and tried to guilt MH into going over to their new house to help them paint despite just finding out a lot of hard to digest/scary info regarding Dottie! Her words were well the two of you can talk about all that now or later tonight, I need help now. Ugh... suffice to say he did NOT go over. I've got some doozies I'm sure I'll share eventually. Oh! Over the weekend showed her the US & 3D US pics from our MFM appt and granted I know some of them look crazy/creepy/melty dolls but her reaction was more "ew... what is THAT, that's gross" than oh look at the baby(ies). Oy vey.
No, haven't start the NSTs yet. We start them the first week of Sept (right around 28 weeks). The ones at my OB office are close by, roughly 15 mins from my house. The MFM appts and NSTs in their office (thankfully all are scheduled the same day as my other MFM appts) are about a 40 min drive from home. And majority of them are scheduled back-to-back so I shouldn't have to kill time between appts much at all (there's a few spaced further apart same day, but not many).

I am high risk with pelvic rest, Weekly ultrasounds, And weekly in-person visits since 20+2. On the day of my anatomy scan we discovered that my sweet baby B had passed away around 16+5-17 Weeks I am still heartbroken And I am so glad to see this thread. I'm now 25+3 and I have another ultrasound on Friday to measure baby's growth once again. Since they are not sure what caused baby B to pass we are not sure what to look for right now for Warnings for Baby A, Since i hadnt had an ultrasound in 12 weeks when we discovered baby B had passed.
@elliemoo I saw your intro post also and wanted to say "welcome!" I am so so sorry to hear about baby B. How heartbreaking that is truly my worst nightmare right now. I pray your growth scan on Friday goes well 💜 glad to hear they're monitoring you closely!

@elliemoo I’m so sorry that you lost a twin. I can’t imagine how hard that has been. I’m glad that you have a great team taking care of you and Baby A! I hope your ultrasound goes great this week!
Our genetic counselor called back with CMV Avidity results: results came back as high avidity meaning I have NOT had CMV within at least the past 4 months (if you look online some say up to 6 mo), so still a slight chance I had it early early on in pregnancy but it's unlikely and we can pretty safely assume potential CMV infection isn't a factor 🙌 hooray!

Me too, Especiall since i'm leaving and going a few counties over that same day for a little 'vacation', I'm hoping if her growth is good i'll be able to do a little more than just Sit around. We're hoping that Since bare minimal viability has been passed, Hopefully If problems arise she can be delivered at that time, Which Isnt the best thought, But It's better than the alternate.

Also, lmao some of the things my MIL has said *facepalm* I love her but good googa mooga she drives me bonkers.
