@jzajac06 hi! 👋 I have no advice regarding GD. Regarding OB vs MFM: I view MFM as focusing on baby(ies) health and OB focusing on mom's health. I would definitely talk to MFM and get their advise regard c-section, esp if your hematologist recommends it. I'm in a slightly different situation where I still see my OB who is affiliated with my local hospital (closest to my house, no NICU) but the plan is to deliver at the hospital affiliated with MFM (about 40 mins away with a level 3 NICU). I see currently see MFM weekly and about to start seeing my OB weekly (Mondays/Fridays) until delivery. MFM has some appts set up for me to meet with and get to know some of the OB staff later on/closer to delivery. So while my OB is still my OB and MFM is 100% on board with me keeping care with her as she is closer and affiliated with the localycloser hospital, she isn't going to be involved in delivery unless I spontaneously go into labor while at home.
Granted I'm in a different situation with my twins and IUGR and other issues, but I hope that helps to an extent. Good luck with the diet I hope the nutritionist and MFM provide some good resources for you. Remember you CAN always ask to switch OBs if you feel your current doctor is not taking your concerns/questions/opinions seriously. MFM has always been very clear with me and MH that their job is to best support us and our decisions regarding our babies. It can be hard if you aren't used to doing it, but don't ever be afraid to advocate for yourself and/or your LO 💙

@vetgirl2011 thanks 💛 I'm actually quite grateful we're about to be starting the twice weekly NSTs knowing Dottie may (or many not) have an arrythmia. I pray it was a one time fluke, but with this LO I feel like if she has the choice it'll be persistent simply to give me panic attacks.

@vetgirl2011 I didn’t know anyone that has seen at MFM so it was nice to get some input and see that others like theirs. And as for the GDM since I failed the 1 hour test and knew it was coming my DH and I have been better about meal prepping. I think preparing healthy snacks ahead will make it easier to stay on track when at work. Then once I start monitoring blood sugars I can make adjustments as necessary. Thank you!
@lurvleybunchococonuts I'm on two weeks with my midwife. My MFM hasn't really set a schedule, she just tells me when I need to come in next for an ultrasound. I have two appointments next week one with MFM and one with midwife. I hope it was a one time arrhythmia 🤞
@jzajac06 sorry you have GDB. I'm currently getting my 3-hour test as I type this. My MFM is good and I like her but it's very brief with her compared to my midwife. In my experience the MFM just really touches on only the high-risk stuff and my midwife handles everything else. I'm not too sure yet how it will work out for labor, but I think things are up in the air for that. My MFM is mainly just monitoring several different things. But I'd say have your concerns written down when you talk to your MFM so you can get their opinion, they might agree with your hematologist. I'd consider the MFM as a good second opinion for your hematologist's recommendation and if they agree with your hematologist then ask them if they would be able to do the c-section or if you should look for another OB. Good luck with the appointment.
@jzajac06 Sorry to hear you have GD... I just heard from my OB today and I do as well I'm waiting for a referral to a diabetic educator, but so far have absolutely no advice!! I used to eat mostly paleo a couple years ago, so I'm hoping that something similar would work? Although I really have no idea!!
@vetgirl2011 What sort of snacks do you prepackage?
I buy prepackaged Sargento balanced breaks or peanut butter crackers. I also make up a serving of fruit with peanut butter or cheese. Sometimes I just grab a granola bar and hard boiled egg, or veggies with hummus. My bedtime snacks have to have more carbs. I frequently have Greek yogurt with a little granola or a glass of milk. If I really need something sweet at bedtime, I will have 8oz of chocolate milk. If I’m really splurging, I have a small serving of ice cream with peanut butter. You’ve got this!
