Re: What My Pregnant Self is Eating

  • @morethanamama I worked at Trader Joe’s for over 10 years! If you haven’t already, and yours have the peaches or nectarines in a box I would get those. They are seasonal, but ours has them right now. They would fly off the shelf. I believe they have 9 in the box. They were always delicious!

@animalandplantrescuer I got peaches!!! Now you gave me an idea for my dessert 🤤🤤 I used to buy fruit at Sprouts but that was pre- Covid, now it's simply a nightmare to go to more than one store so I alternate between Costco runs and TJ runs. TJ 's produce has been really impressive compared to Sprouts, especially the avocados!
  • My boyfriend decided he wanted pizza from a local spot for Father’s Day. We chose a sweet and spicy one. They gave us chili oil and honey to drizzle on top. I accidentally poured too much on, and it was SOO spicy. Our current saying when I eat something spicy is, “we’ve got to make sure she likes spice.” We’ll see if it works in the future. 😂
  • We’ve done watermelon juice several times recently!  My DD loves it.   She’s also had a bit of my smoothies.   I call it special juice and she loves it.   Toddlers are easy to please sometimes !
  • We’ve had watermelon with dinner each night the past week 😍
  • Add me to the watermelon list. I never crave it because sometimes you get them and they're just like watery and flavorless, but DH picked one up to eat with dinner last night and omg it is amazing.

  • I really want pop tarts. I maybe buy them once every year or two. I think the last time I ate one was when I was pregnant with DS. But damn it sounds so good

  • @profmcgonagall damn, pop tarts sound amazing. I try to never buy them because they're definitely one of my guilty pleasures
  • @profmcgonagall Crap you had to go and bring up poptarts... my husband has started leaning in to The Plant Paradox and basically everything I’m craving now is discouraged. It’s making me cranky.
  • I made the mistake of buying pop tarts about a month ago. I get produce/groceries from Imperfect Produce, and they have had the “healthy” brand pop tarts every week since my pop tart purchase. I have splurged each week. They’ve been a lifesaver when I just need to get food in my stomach quickly. I actually just had one a little while ago. Limit myself to one from the pack though. I call that a win. 😉
  • @animalandplantrescuer healthy brand Pop-tarts defeats the purpose!

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @kboydbowman Haha. They definitely aren’t healthy. They just have less crappy ingredients. They’re actually pretty decent.
  • I’ve been eating a lot of cherries lately.  Bing and Rainier.  There’s a local produce stand close to where I live that has them pretty cheap so I’ve been picking up bags of them and have them as my work snack everyday.
  • @anitamargarita_82 Before my boyfriend left he went to the store and got me 3 bags of rainier because they’re on sale this week. That should get me through the next 5 days. 😉😂
  • @animalandplantrescuer that sounds like me.  if you ever get a chance to eat southern VA cherries, they're the best....we used to go cherry picking there when I was a kid

  • @anitamargarita_82, I am so jealous! I’ve been craving cherries but they are so damn expensive here. I wanted to make a homemade cherry pie for my anniversary last week but it would have been almost $15 just for the cherries

  • @kboydbowman That sounds awesome!!! Also I sent you a private message. (I think my biggest complaint on here is the lack of notifications)

@profmcgonagall I don’t want to know how much we’ve spent on cherries alone, but we figure it’s much better that than buying more junk food. I can only imagine how much they are in England though.
  • I love Rainier cherries and have been thinking about how I wanted to buy them soon. MIL & SIL drove up yesterday and MIL brought some with her! I was so excited, lol.

  • My neighbor just made me chocolate covered strawberries because she knows I’m home alone. ❤️🤗
  • So DH’s stepmom is from the Philippines, and makes the WORLD’S BEST egg rolls. Like, they are literally fried heaven. She’s known for them and used to sell them! We have so many vacuum sealed packs of them in our freezer from his parents that we just have to fry up in peanut oil. We just had a whole pack for dinner with nothing else 🤤🤤🤤
  • @mamahosch are they actually Lumpia?  Does she make good pancit as well?  Or Lechon?
  • @anitamargarita_82 yes I believe they are Lumpia but she never calls them that. I should ask her next time we see her but they live 3 hrs away from us. Her pancit is delicious but I’m not sure if she’s made Lechon! She makes a crunchy pork that’s to die for though.
  • After all this talk of cherries today I was THRILLED when hubby came home from the grocery store with a bag of them! Happy dance!!!
  • I'm sorry to say @anitamargarita_82 but that sounds vile as hell!  :p

Is it just flavored milk that you drink by itself?

  • Yes it’s just flavored milk.  They make a strawberry one as well.  Both are delicious!  My toddler loves them too.  And at Christmas and Easter they roll out their eggnog which is amazing and far better than any you’ll get in the store.  I love having a local dairy that delivers milk.
  • @anitamargarita_82 we called strawberry milk bunny milk growing up. I’ve been on a huge chocolate milk kick since getting pregnant

annnnd I really just want some cherries now. They were out when I went to the store earlier this week 😭
  • LUMPIA... so yummy!

I noticed that since hitting 20 weeks my cravings are not as intense. However a craving I am left with is some kind of cold dessert like a fruit tart or a cheesecake or a key lime pie. Not even ice cream, has to be a dessert like those. So weird because I am not a sweet tooth in general!

With all of this talk about cherries, I'm making DH go to the store to buy me Rainier cherries today.  I almost stopped at a roadside stand today, but I'm still limiting my interactions with other people.

@anitamargarita_82  Birthday cake anything sounds good to me.  I've noticed that a lot of birthday cake flavored food/drinks usually is almost like a double vanilla flavor.

  • @AB518 The boy person picked up something called "Birthday Cake" ice cream a couple of weeks ago and it was VILE.

  • @anitamargarita_82 do you live in 1950? How do you have a milkman??
  • @peanutorcookie we have a local dairy that delivers tons of local stuff. It’s legit!  I love it.  Here’s my milk box! I decorate it at Halloween and Christmas with all kinds of stuff.

  • @anitamargarita_82 that's awesome. I'm jealous!
  • I have already eaten one of the bags of cherries my boyfriend bought yesterday. That means I’ve eaten over a pound of cherries in 24 hours!!!

Also for the coffee lovers on here, did you hear Panera is offering their unlimited coffee subscription until September 7th, if you sign up before July 4th? You do have to give them a credit or debit card number because they will charge you if you don’t cancel before September 7th. The subscription includes decaf, or if you’re still drinking caffeine it includes iced and flavored coffees. You can also order online for rapid pick up. Just thought I’d pass that along. I haven’t tried getting one yet.

@aefsparrow been obsessed with my new individual blender and having green monster shakes

    Cherries sound delicious!

Was just looking at the Sunday ads online.   Target has cherries 1.99lb and if you have a Safeway/Albertsons near you rainiers are 2.99lb!  I’ll be replenishing my cherry stash later on today!
  • Oops. I may have just eaten 5 servings of plantain chips...
  • I made strawberry chocolate chip muffins yesterday and between the 3 of us, they were gone within 24 hours.

  • So summertime in Iowa means SWEET CORN 😍🤤 I bought a dozen ears at a sweet corn stand today and had 3 ears of corn for lunch! DH also had 3 but that’s pretty typical for both of us when it’s the only thing we eat for a meal.
