  • @readermom1 my grandpa and dad are both Charles Edward! And I have a little sister named Claire. They loved Clara but her last name is Barton so it was a no go for that. Lol
  • I think we have a boy name chosen. Not set but we really like Niall Rowan. Still debating on the spelling!

DS is Parker James (my DH’s middle name)...
We can not agree on another boys name but if baby is a girl, Amelia Marie is definite. That’s what we picked last time before we knew what we were having.
    DS born 2016
  • So I posted previously that we weren’t agreeing on names for either gender. We know we’re having a girl and still at odds. I’ve landed on a top choice of Margot Evelyn (our last name starts with M so I think it sounds nice altogether, Evelyn was my grandma’s middle name who I was very close to), but I have a long list of others I like.

H refuses to consider any on my list, and has modified the only name he previously offered up for a boy, Raylan, and is now demanding we name our daughter Raelynne and says it’s the only name he’ll ever agree to.

Anyway - still have a long road ahead because were both extremely stubborn, and Raelynne is just not my cup of tea.

@shelmcclel so my husband and I both watched and loved Justified and the name Raylan. It was high on my boy's name list for a long time. I noticed over time it started going to the girls side as I saw many Raelynn's and other spelling variations. It made me sad because I saw it as such a masculine/cowboy name. When I had my son I nixed it because it had become so feminized!
I guess I'm just surprised at your husband's push to use what he thinks is a great boy's name on a girl and just change the spelling. I feel like it kind of takes the clout out of his argument for the name if that makes sense?

BTW I love Margot Evelyn! I hope he comes around to being open to some other suggestions!
    Me: 30 DH: 31
    Married: May 2008
    DD Born: March 2018
    DS Born: April 2019
    Due with #3 December 2020!
  • @shelmcclel you guys should try the “tinder inspires baby name app” baby name. Your swipe right on the names you like and left on the ones you don’t and it keeps track of the ones you both swiped right on!
  • @JBcakes08 I LOVED the show justified and used to watch it all the time. Raylan Givens lol I like the name Raylan.

@laurenspdx It’s worth a shot! He might know what I’m doing Bc i am the worst liar/actor - he can always tell when I’ve got something up my sleeve. I think eventually he’ll give in, because he usually does, but It’s probably not going to be anytime soon 😂

@tryingktogku we’ve done that! Only matched on 1 girls name, Edie, which he has since told me he does not like anymore. 😑
  • @shelmcclel well y’all got another 6 months to decide!!

So if your name fell under popular you wouldn't want it? Or that doesn't matter you just want to see?

  • @maisas I am curious about their popularity and also we avoid the top 100 names in favor of less popular names. I like to reduce the chances that there will be a child with the same name in the same class.
  • We also have an Emilia...Emmi for short:)

Now that we know we're having a girl, we're trying to focus on names.  Right now our top contender is Lenora (nickname Nora).  I also like Matilda, Beatrice and Vera.  Girl names are hard, naming DS was super easy haha.

Last night we started the conversation. My husband got very excited at the idea of naming him "Gannon," so that his chosen nickname of "Poop Cannon" works with his actual name. This is going to be a long process...

Years ago we were randomly talking about names and (not seriously) decided on Beauford Ulysses, so his initials would be "BUG". I still kind of like the initials thing, it's kind of cute but the kid would probably hate it.
  • @karmba We have a Vera, and a niece named Matilda nicknamed Millie!

@gingkomama we feel the same about names. I looked at the 2018 and if it was far out like in the 500s or higher then I was ok with it.
  • @karmba Oooh I love Lenora! So pretty!
  • @akoros I think that's cute! I doubt your child will care too much about the initials either way... They are really used for much, and when they are it's usually just the first and last.

@hham10 Yes! As much as I love so many of the popular names (hello Elijah, Oliver, Olivia, Hannah!), I just can't pick one of them.
  • We’re not finding out the sex until delivery so we’re trying to think of some gender neutral names. Right now our top contender is Bowie for either a boy or girl. Funky and a cute nickname of Bow 😊👨‍🎤
  • We’ve been set on Amelia Marie since we had DS! I say it and get so excited! DS is Parker James and of course it became more popular after but oh well lol
    DS born 2016
  • We have a Claire, and I'm really liking the name Chloe if we have another girl, but my H doesn't like it because of Khloe Kardashian...He likes Fiona but it reminds me of Shrek...that's about as far as we've gotten on names..I don't think we'll get serious about names until we find out if we're having a boy or girl

@jbal918 when I was younger like 16 or 17 years old,  I had a boyfriend who's name was Parker James lol. I always loved the name Parker and didn't know any others.

@bearmomma1 when I hear the name Fiona I think of Shrek too 😆
  • @bearmomma1 I think of shrek too lol but I still love the name! However, I do think Chloe would be really cute to pair with Claire.
  • @akoros omg, do iiiiiit! I love the name and the initials are super fun.

  • Many years ago, my husband said we should name out child Anthony.  I thought that was very sweet, since it is my father's middle name.  He said then we can call the baby Tony.  Well our last name rhymes with Tony and he thought that would be fun!  Not cute anymore.

Also the Ninja Turtles have been tossed around.  With an Italian last name, that could be intense!

  • The only name that my husband and I have liked for our boy is Remi.   His name is kinda unusual/unisex so he likes that idea for our kid.

ive seen remi/Remy for both boys and girls, but most recently it seems to be mostly a female name.   And I don’t want kids to tease him for having a “girl” name

I tried to pick more name choices today but he just said he thought We already decided.

@autumn87654321 I have a daughter named Remie! If she were a he, he would likely be Remi. It is a traditional French boys name. My daughter was born in Europe and people were confused why we choose it for her name  :D  We loved it so we didn’t care. It’s still an uncommon name in the US and I now know people with a girl and boy with the name.

Now that I know we're having a boy I can only think of girl names...naturally. I never had a set "name" I really wanted, but always liked the name "Gregory" for a boy (normal, but also a family name and common for Ukrainians)...and then I went and married a guy whose last name is Gregory, so that's no longer an option.

Maybe I'll work on fun initials and work back from there...what are fun 3-letter words or acronyms that end in G? So far I've got: BUG, ARG
  • karmbakarmba member
@akoros HUG, BAG, TAG, TUG, JAG, JIG, ZIG, ZAG

I don't know if any of these are very good, but it was fun to try to think of them.
