Re: May Randoms

  • @MJDsquared I found out through the technician at the private lab I used with my son (I got really sick with some upper respiratory virus and as an ftm I was freaked out so I paid for an ultrasound outside of my doc practice at 10 w). I then asked for confirmation at my NT scan at 13w and they confirmed. But I feel like they did not openly told me. So this time I asked right away, and again unless I asked they would not have said anything. I'm thinking it really depends! With my son I didn't feel anything strong until almost 22 weeks, I started feeling faint movements before but very little. Worth asking at the AS!

@mamahosch agreed that dolls are great for pretend play! I'd be happy to avoid spending $200+ on one doll though😂

@MJDsquared I'm not sure if they always tell you, but my US tech did this time. DS was not anterior and I don't remember them telling me. I was assuming so because I felt DS so early for a ftm and nothing with this one. I don't know if all places do this, but my medical test results are also online so the final ultrasound diagnostic gets posted and it specifies the placenta placement (at least on mine from 2017 and this one and it did for the early 8 week one in 2017 too).

@MJDsquared I don’t know that they’d be looking or notate it at the NT scan unless you asked. It will be on your anatomy scan report though for sure.

@MJDsquared they never said anything to me last time about the placenta location until I asked the doc when would I feel kicks and should I be concerned. Then it was like oh well you probably won't feel that much.
  • @wineren I tried to look at the NT scan results in my online portal but didn't see any mention of it there.

Thanks, everyone! I'm definitely going to ask on Tuesday!

  • @animalplantrescuer I was of the Cabbage Patch and Strawberry Shortcake generation in terms of dolls, as well as the earliest versions of My Little Pony.  My grandmother was a seamstress and handmade me a Cabbage Patch doll.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

Facebook ads have figured out I'm pregnant and are posting maternity clothes galore. Shirts with off the shoulder styles, dresses galore, and just generally fashionable things. And I'm sitting here in comfy sweatpants and a shirt I've had for literally over 15 years 😬
I'm really hoping I don't have to go into the office at all this summer because I really don't want to have to buy new maternity clothes - I could wear jeans at the job I had when I was pregnant with DS so I have maternity jeans and shirts already but nothing professional office like. I already bought office clothes this year before the shutdown (that are still in the box) and don't really want to do more.

@kboydbowman I loved Strawberry Shortcake growing up. The new reboot cartoons kind of freak me out though.
  • @kboydbowman I loved my Cabbage Patch Kids. I really wish I had kept mine. I actually just found a Cabbage Patch Kids toilet that you could have them go to the bathroom on. It made pee and flushing sounds. 😂

I also had some My Little Ponies, but I think I went from dolls to Breyer horses without as much interest in My Little Pony. Some of my friends were really into them though.

I actually didn’t have a TV until I was in high school, and I had a lot of educational type entertainment. One of my favorite toys was the marble track racer. My parents still have it, and that also makes me really excited.
  • @animalandplantrescuer there were a lot of science kits, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Legos, ant farms, crystal growth kits, word games, and erector sets in my toys.

  • I have my original cabbage patch from when I was little!

On another note DD is transitioning from her crib to a Full size bed tonight 😱.  I really hope she sleeps through the night and doesn’t end up in our bed.  She’s never slept in our bed so I’m hopeful!
  • @MJDsquared they’ve told me both times at the anatomy scan and never before then. I had anterior the first time and not this time. But our tech talks to me the entire time. She showed me everything and told me everything she was measuring.
  • I raided my mom's house for my childhood toys a few weekends ago, specifically for my American girl doll and Little Tikes doll house (we hadn't found out the sex yet, but I thought I should be prepared either way). I definitely have to send Addy to the American girl hospital as she lost her arm and we could never afford to send her when I was young. Like a lot of you, we didn't have much money growing up, but my grandmother had a tradition of buying each of her granddaughters an American girl doll for our 5th birthdays so she is really special to me. I also couldn't find her outfit and they are so expensive since she's "technically" retired. I ordered a Vogue 18" doll pattern set of early american clothing off of etsy and I am going to make some outfits for her!! Haha I feel a little crazy about it, but I'm also really excited. They are currently selling a new version of Addy with a different outfit, but I was able to snag her new bedroom set from the American Girl site on sale!

Hopefully American Girl will re-open their hospital soon so I can send her off to get a new arm.
  • Of course after asking about the placenta I felt some good movement last night and even saw the faintest little pokes from outside!

The bump app is the worst. In the past when people said it sucked I didn't really have that experience (though 90% of the time then I used my laptop) but now I find it so frustrating. Over half the time when I go to community it acts like I'm not logged in (doesn't show where new posts are, if I click it starts me at page 1 of a thread). I've tried the browser on my phone too and have the same issue.

  • @kboydbowman I also had lots of Legos, racing cars, Meccano sets and such! A couple of gardening kits but never had an ant farm, that must have been so cool! My favorite were always board games and construction toys.

As far as I know my Lego Duplo buckets are still at my mom's and also my complete Playmobil Zoo!! I hope to pass those on. I also kept my Game Boy Color that I'll be showing to my kid but I don't think he'll want to use it much.

I remember having a cabbage doll and several Barbie dolls but never paid much attention to those so I doubt they'd be still around.

@MJDsquared I have that same problem, even after I relogin, it won’t show I am on the boards. And then it just randomly starts working?!? No idea 🤷‍♀️

@ginevere I had to send my American Girl Today doll to the doll hospital once! Her arm fell off too. I want to send both my dolls there if we end up having a girl just to get them cleaned up a bit! Did they close it for COVID?
  • I use the app, and I’ve noticed you have to log back in on the boards page as well. I’ve actually started pressing cancel when it tells me I need to sign out, and only logging in at the top of the boards page. It then takes me to all the boards and I press back twice to get back to our board listing. I hope that makes sense, and that helps.

THIS^^ the exact same happens to me!
  • I feel super dumb but I need to get checked out by the doctor (gp) for what is probably a small issue and I'm paranoid about it. I am a bit of a hypochondriac (have gotten A LOT better int he past few years about it) and I don't particularly like my doctor. She is really nice but I feel like she sometimes doesn't really know much and tends to be dismissive...I know this is also typical hypochondriac attitude 😂 but I'm gonna suck it up and get checked out so I can stop being paranoid about it.

Is anyone more anxious about health while pregnant? I swear the same thing happened to me while pregnant with my first. I think it's some light anxiety, and it's super annoying!
  • @animalandplantrescuer I don't see the option to log in on the community page for me. But I guess that's because it shows me as logged in even though it doesn't act like I am...

Yep, I just opened the app, it acted like I was logged out. Closed the app and reopened, still acted like I was logged out but I click on this thread and went to the last page anyway. Then closed and opened again and it acted like I was logged in again and told me there were two new posts here (which I had already seen, because the app is dumb).

This may not be at all helpful for folks that strongly prefer the app, but I use the website (thebump.com/community) on my laptop and don't have this problem. Might be worth a try if it's doable for you!
  • If your posts arent showing your logged in if you click post reply it'll automatically prompt you to log in. Mine does the same thing.
  • The logging in thing is getting pretty annoying!!

omg apparently I can’t even watch Disney movies during pregnancy. I just started SOBBING during the beginning of Tarzan. I mean it’s sad, but I’ve never full on sobbed before. Hormones man
  • winerenwineren member
@mamahosch A retrospective sign I should have know I was pregnant two+ months ago - The movie Cars had me sitting here with tears just streaming down my cheeks.
It's totally a thing. When I was pregnant with my first there was a toilet paper commercial that made me cry every time I saw it.
  • @mamahosch @wineren I'm with you! Disney movies are some of the worst btw... I cried like 5 times during Frozen... I've seen it a million times... nope... sobbing... full on sobbing.
  • @babycakesday I got my hair colored, twice now actually. Once when I was about 6 weeks pregnant and again last week. My midwife never mentioned not doing it so 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @mamahosch me too at almost everything lately. Commercials, movies, tv show, sometimes even just my toddler being herself.
  • I'm not even attempting Disney movies right now but Animal Crossing is making me cry like everytime I play, it's just a silly game and yet here I am reduced to sobbing every day.
In other news, idk if this is a regional food .. but strawberry shortcake made with angel food cake, my craving is out of control, has anyone else here ever had it to back me up on how delicious it is, or am I just the oddball again? 😂
  • @kalesix3 yes I’ve had it with angel food cake.  It’s delicious but I definitely prefer a really dry biscuit/scone instead so it can suck up a ton of strawberry juice and get all soft and amazing!
  • @aefsparrow Frozen or Frozen 2? For some reason I bawl my eyes out during the song “Show Yourself” and it’s even worse now that I’m pregnant.
  • @coldbrew I made the epic mistake of watching them back to back... my husband was convinced I was going insane. The first years came at "Do you wanna build a snowman" and never ended.
  • winerenwineren member
@coldbrew That song made me cry before I was even pregnant too. I absolutely love the sequel... I saw it in theaters twice. Without kids. And, @aefsparrow, I decided to watch them back to back yesterday... I didn't stop crying through both of them either.
  • You guys are so funny. Pregnancy so far has done the opposite to me—both times. I cry LESS at movies. In general I love musicals and romantic comedies, and right now if I watch something cheesy I end up turning it off halfway through so I don’t throw something at the TV. But I’m much more sensitive to things my husband says, and I cry more easily reading books. 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • Toy Story 3 and 4 got me crying the other day. Definitely a lot more sensitive than normal.

    Also the Lion King 😭😭

  • Well I’ve been over here watching American Horror Story when my DD is napping or playing in her room.  I like to think of it as balance 😂.   We watch a lot of Disney all day.  Currently it’s Brave, Dumbo, Toy Story, Lady and the Tramp, and Monsters Inc.  those are all in daily rotation.
  • To all my ladies who love to shop online, if you come across any really cute sibling jammie sets will you tag me and post a link.  I want to do some sweet photos of this baby and his older sister in matching jammies shortly after he’s born.
  • We watched Frozen yesterday, DD's first time and my second time seeing it. I cried a tiny bit when the parents died, but that's it. Last week we started Finding Nemo and I definitely cried in the opening scene. It ended up being too scary (I think) for DD, she made me turn it off.

  • We are on a constant loop of Frozen (1st, not the 2nd, apparently the 2nd is too sad for DD), Finding Nemo, Moana, Trolls, and Cars. I've probably seen Frozen almost 20 times since quarantine started. Watched "Onward" with DH a few weeks ago and bawled my eyes out. Otherwise I've been okay emotion wise! Been more irritated/angry than sad. Poor DH. 😬
