Re: May Randoms

  • @anitamargarita_82 I’m going to get our set from https://poshpeanut.com/

they have all kinds of prints plus matching robe. They are on the pricey side.
  • Loading the player...
  • @anitamargarita_82 I love Hanna Andersson pajamas for matching! They also last forever.
  • @anitamargarita_82 and @themoonandme I also love Hanna Andersson pajamas! I found a marching green, white and red ones for my son and the baby to wear for Christmas! I bought them on eBay because they can cost a lot brand new, but the quality is better than other pjs I’ve used.
  • I love matching sibling clothes! I buy DD1 and DD2 the same stuff all the time but they’re 3 and 6 and love it (for now lol). I can’t wait to add in DD3. I’m already thinking of having them dress like the Sanderson sisters for Halloween 😂
  • I just checked in with our daycare again about an infant spot. I've been on the list since December and have a kid already there, so didn't expect it to be a problem. They are still saying the can't guarantee a spot until March. I have to go back to work in December and it is stressing me out. They said they may have updates in the next month or two, but I don't know how long I can wait to find alternative care. I'm already too late to get a spot at another center so would have to find a nanny. Finding someone for full time 7-6ish 5 days a week is not going to be easy. My mom lives 3 hours away and is retired but I don't think it's reasonable for me to ask her to basically leave my dad to come help us for 3 months (he still works), but I know she would if I asked. I was hoping the pandemic might open spots sooner at daycare, but I guess not so far. I'm stressing.
  • @carrotsandpeas3, that sucks! Hopefully something opens up soon.
I haven’t had to deal with daycare at all and I’m nervous about finding a spot for both kids when we move next year.

  • @profmcgonagall thanks. Do you know the timing or location of your move yet? I'd say sooner is definitely better to start looking. Depends on how picky you are though. I work long hours, so no in home daycares or things like that worked for us.
  • @carrotsandpeas3, no unfortunately we won’t know until late Autumn (Military) and will only have about 2 months to prepare.

  • @carrotsandpeas3 Ooof that sucks!! I know from working at a daycare after college that the lower infant-to-caregiver ratio makes spots harder to come by, but I also would have thought you would be fine, already having a sibling there! Did you ask if they might have a spot open before December? Would it be a viable alternative for you to pay for daycare you’re not using, or using sporadically, in order to have your full-time spot when you need it? I’ve seen that happen—daycare has a spot open say in November, they don’t want to hold it for a month because they’re losing money at that rate, so they offer it to someone who is ready for it even if they’re lower on the waitlist... but if you’re willing to pay for it even if you’re not ready for it, maybe they would let you do that?
  • @babycakesday I looked at posh peanut but wasn’t sure if it was a legit company because they keep showing up on my FB.  And they didn’t have much selection for little boys 😣.  When they finally open stuff back up here we have several Hanna Anderson outlets in the area.  I’ve bought my daughter several cute pairs of leggings there.  I’ll probably go look there too!
  • Not shocked, but DH won’t be able to come to my AS tomorrow and they’ll only allow me to do a 10-15 second recording (no FaceTime). I was hoping with things opening up he’d be allowed to come. It’s even more frustrating because it’s at the hospital he works at.
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason unfortunately no. They don't have a spot period until March 2021. They just opened in October of this last year and have 2 infant rooms, so I was shocked that they were booked that far out. I really love this place though, it's on my way to work, and the price is right for our area and the extended hours, so I'm going to wait for that spot one way or another. I semi melted down just now stressing about it and talking to my MIL, and she basically told me not to worry, that between her, my mom, and a few family friends in the area, they will make sure we are taken care of. I just hate how out of my control this all is, but I am happy to have support if necessary. Just going to be a lot of juggling, and nannies are really hard to find here for some reason--I looked into it with DD.

@profmcgonagall I'm sorry that is stressful. Will you have to start working right away? Maybe if you can be flexible and watch the kids for a while during the transition, things might be easier. Hoping for a smooth transition for you all. ❤️
  • @carrotsandpeas3, I won’t have to start working right away but honestly I want to because I’ve been out of work for almost 4 years. But obviously childcare situation will depend on how soon I’m able to get a job.

  • @profmcgonagall totally understand that. If this pandemic has taught me anything it's that I'm a better mother when I am working outside of our home. It has made my mom guilt for working so much actually so much better now that I realize me being home all the time does not mean a better situation for us.
  • I've not watched Frozen 2 yet! But my son started singing Into the Unknown, so the soundtrack is on repeat now. The girls he nannies with are responsible! I might try to see if he lasts watching the movie. So far after 15-20 minutes of TV he's done.

I definitely cry for things more easily. My husband was watching a stupid movie, John Wick, and I cried because of a dog...won't go into details but it was so bad.

  • @morethanamama the boy person is obsessed with those damn movies and talks about the dog at length.  Personally I find them to be torture porn.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

My DS it's all about Wreck It Ralph, Trolls, Boss Baby, and anything with Micky Mouse.

@morethanamama I too cried at the dog in John Wick. Well before pregnancy though. This thread is making me thing I cried plenty even without the hormones!
  • I refused to watch John Wick after the first 10 minutes, I literally walked out of the living room and balled in the shower... not my kinda movie. I am more than happy to live on Rom-coms, cooking shows and Disney moves.
  • @aefsparrow same here, I literally walked out, my husband didn't even care too much about those movies but he got into a mood of watching stupid movies one night and he picked that 😆
  • @mamahosch I love it! I too was in 4-H and Future Farmers of America, and I never raised a farm animal. I always found that funny.

@MJDsquared Congratulations! I'm glad they were able to tell you about the placenta.
  • I love baby movements. 🥰 My husband just leaned in and sang to the baby and was rewarded with a kick in the face. 😂 This boy is just as active as his brother (if not more!😱) so I’m thinking I’m in trouble! 🤪
  • Been a while since I have been on here. Just wanted to chime in to say baby is kicking like crazy and my spine is paying the consequences lol.
  • Someone who has had their A/S should start a new U/S thread! I love seeing updated ones :) Mine is tomorrow so I can start it if no one does by then, too.

I have a question that I figured I'd post here. I mentioned it in my weekly check-in thread, but since this thread gets more action I figured I might get more visibility here.

I have ovarian cysts on both ovaries, and am very familiar with the pain associated with them. I haven't had any such pain since I got pregnant, but yesterday morning I woke up to some pretty extreme pain on my right lower abdomen, and it has intensified today. I'm fine when I'm sitting still, but if I stretch or twist or get up and walk around and the weight of my stomach is pulling downward, it hurts really bad and I have to massage it.

My question is, has anyone dealt with ovarian cysts while pregnant? Anyone had one rupture while pregnant?

My BFF had an appendectomy when she was pregnant with her daughter, but she was much further along, and it didn't affect her pregnancy, thank goodness. I'm hoping this isn't that, but am also worried about ovarian torsion, etc.

ETA: I'm currently chatting with the military nurse advice line to see what they advise me to do. I don't want to go to the ER or urgent care with all this COVID-19 stuff going on (those beds are better used for those patients), so I'm hoping to get an appt either with my primary care doc or my OB, depending on what the issue is.

  • @babyodo I have no experience with that! Are you in constant pain, or is it occasional? Sorry you’re dealing with that!! Keep us posted.

I officially had my first “baby came early and I wasn’t prepared yet” dream last night... hopefully I can actually focus enough to get some work done today instead of thinking about all the things I still have to do!
  • Even the desktop website is constantly logging me out now. WTF, Bump, get your s*** together!

  • I'm also constantly logged out, now I just click on new discussion and it prompts a log in, then I just go back and I'm logged in, ugh! @babyodo sorry you're in pain. I don't have experience with ovarian cysts but I did think of appendicitis when you described the symptoms. Hopefully it is neither! Keep up posted and I hope you can get checked out without a visit to the ER.

This week has been nerve wracking. We had opted to do a genetic test for carrier screening and I turned out to carry a pretty scary albeit rare condition. So my H had to get tested and we just got results, it's all clear thankfully. However, he carries two additional conditions that are also serious so at some point we will have to talk to our kids and let them know so they can decide if they want to get tested before having kids. Genetics, man...
@peanutorcookie do I remember correctly you were waiting on similar results? I hope they came back clear !

I've been up since 630 and I should be starting to work since I took the day off yesterday and went to the beach (it was glorious and not crowded) but really don't have any motivation!
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason, I had a dream last night that baby came at 26 weeks. 😳😳
    definitely not ready for that.
We haven’t done anything to prepare

  • @profmcgonagall I’ve had this nagging feeling mine is going to arrive at 34 weeks.  I have a bag packed so that if I have to be hospitalized at any point I’m prepared.  Lady time I checked into the hospital in pain and left after giving birth 😱.  I had nothing in the hospital with me the first 2 nights.
  • @babyodo I actually had pretty similar pain a few weeks ago. It was in the same place but it wasn’t constant, it would be fine for a few minutes then I’d have pretty bad pain for a minute or two. I called my OB but it was a Friday when I was having the pain, so they told me to take Tylenol, rest, and use a heating pad to see if it relieved any pain and told me to go to the ER if it got worse. Luckily it got better by Saturday and I wasn’t in pain by Sunday. And I had my A/S that Tuesday, so they were able to check and nothing was wrong. They said it was probably just really bad round ligament pain, but it was so bad that I was worrying my appendix was ruptured. Hopefully it’s just really bad round ligament pain and it goes away in a few days
  • @anitamargarita_82 , I need to get my bag packed too.
My goal is to make it to 32 weeks. I wasn’t ready last time either and my poor husband had to scramble to get me everything I needed.

  • @ccstlln1 I had REALLY bad round ligament pain last week on my right side. And of course it was the day I was scheduled to pack up my classroom. Luckily my classroom associate was there to put the bigger stuff away while I was able to sit and organize! It went away after a few hours but it was the worst pain I’ve had since pregnancy started.
  • @babyodo I think it’s safer to get checked than to not get checked if you’re worried about covid. It could be nothing or a number of things. I hope it’s nothing though!
  • @morethanamama I had genetic testing done before TTC about 2 years ago, so I'm not waiting. I can't remember who brought that up originally!

I did get the bill for my NIPT today though $1100 😱 we have excellent insurance but it says this has already been to the insurance company. The MFM said it usually ends up being $200-300 after insurance so I'm hoping this is a mistake! Anyone have experience with this?
  • @peanutorcookie the same thing happened to me. I got a bill for $1200 dollars and paid it. Then I found out that I shouldn’t have paid that much and it took me a few months to get my money back from the company. I’d call and talk to the company before you pay it because it shouldn’t be that much.
  • @peanutorcookie Agree with @westslopemama about calling the company. The MFM clinic where I had the testing warned me it may come back with a high estimate, but if so to call the company and get it adjusted because they have a contract limiting the total bill to $349. I did get an EOB from my insurance company saying I would owe $1,889, so I called the testing company right away and they reassured me that my invoice would show the contracted amount of $349 (though I haven’t received it still).

@peanutorcookie I agree with everyone.  Sometimes you have to talk to them to bring down the amount. Ours for my son went through insurance and then they looked at our income and waived the entire copay. It was super high income levels for different amounts waived (like all, all but $100, all but $350 etc). I was surprised.
