Blessed Beltane! Or May Day, for others, lol.

Even though it's overcast and slightly stormy today, I'm celebrating at home in my own way with colorful candles, peaceful music, and counting myself blessed that I am healthy and so is my little baby girl.

  • @babyodo your celebration sounds amazing! It makes me want to celebrate too! Beltane festivals sound absolutely incredible, I love it's Scottish history!
  • How did I know that would be the image on this post 😂

I just got a message from one of my preschool families that they want to deliver me a May basket 💕 so sweet and one of my favorite families in our school!
  • What is everyone up to this weekend? The weather is supposed to be beautiful here (at least tomorrow), so we are going to try to wash the cars and spend as much time outside as possible. Still waiting to here from our governor on whether our stay at home order will be extended past today, but no major plans to change what we are doing either way!
  • @carrotsandpeas3 it’s going to be beautiful here this weekend too so hopefully we’ll be spending a ton of time outside and working on our garden.

Oof. I had this horrible nightmare last night about having complications after delivery and forgetting about my babies. I’ve been stressed out since I woke up.
  • @carrotsandpeas3    I saw this and thought about Inslee

  • I’m on call for work this weekend, so hopefully it’s not busy! We will probably have a picnic with the in-laws and go for a walk. I’m hoping my husband can get the bike trailer set up so he can take DS for a bike ride too.
  • It’s supposed to be nice this weekend so hopefully we will spend some time outside and do some yard work.
The UK is still on lockdown for another week so really nothing going on here

  • I had plans to weed my overgrown yard, but of course it’s supposed to rain all weekend. Might do it anyway—need to start teaching my toddler that in Seattle, we don’t NOT do things just because it’s raining, or we’d never get them done! 🤪
  • My plan is to start on some house projects and deep cleaning some rooms this weekend, I'd like to go to the mountains and enjoy spring and these 75 degree days, but my partner has finals so we won't be going anywhere... Maybe I'll clean our car out lol!
  • @kalesix3 I did a lot of deep cleaning this week and it is SO SATISFYING to finally get some things done after 5 weeks of being too exhausted with first tri and toddler and working from home. Cleaned out 3 closets, mopped, vacuumed, cleaned 2 of 3 bathrooms, did 6 loads of laundry, and just finished wiping down baseboards and walls on our main level. We have a giant, very drooly and sheddy dog so it was nice to get it freshened up in here and to start prepping for our room shuffle with new baby.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 you're Wonder Woman?!
  • Oh my gosh @carrotsandpeas3 that is so motivating, you're amazing!! I don't have much excuse for getting such a late start.. I've been out of work since the end of February, but I wake up and work out and keep our rooms mostly clean and then I collapse on the couch and don't want to do things like baseboards and scrubbing toilets and showers 😬
But no more! I know I'll feel so much better to have everything sparkling deep cleaned again so I'm determined even if it's just one small task every day!
  • @peanutorcookie and @kalesix3 to be fair I sent DD back to daycare this week, so I suddenly felt like I had so much time again! It was wonderful to get some things done. Since I'm stuck at home, sitting in a filthy house was driving me crazy.
  • I got tested for Covid today 😰😷 I don’t honestly think it’s what I have, but because I’m a nurse I had to be. I’ve had a worsening cough with some pretty intense wheezing for almost a week. No other symptoms thankfully. My best friend is positive (I haven’t seen her in 2 months though) so it freaks me out a bit just knowing someone so close to me has it.
  • @coldbrew oh no! Crossing my fingers you don’t have it! 🤞🏻

Today our golden retriever went with her “owner” for 6 weeks to have her first litter of puppies next week. I was totally fine until they drove away. I’m still crying but I’ll see her in a couple weeks. Its so weird around here without her!
  • @coldbrew I hope it comes back negative.  So scary.. thoughts and prayers that you’ll get over whatever you’ve got soon!
  • Oh no @coldbrew 😩 I hope that's not what you have and you're able to kick the cough asap!

I had a night terror last night (I had rolled onto my back, so that makes sense) that two of my dogs attacked a cat in our front yard. I felt helpless, because I wanted to stop it, but I also had to hold onto my two other dogs to keep them from joining the fray. I'm glad it was just a dream!

Since the stay-at-home order started, I've been having to work from home and only go in to the office to do some stuff there that I can't do at home, but I have to go in during off hours, so it's a pain in the butt. Since tomorrow is supposed to be much nicer weather-wise, I think I'll wind up going in this afternoon to know out the bulk of the stuff that's been piling up. I have few time-sensitive projects that need getting done before I transfer to my new unit next month.

  • @coldbrew please keep us posted! When will you know the results?

We are going to do some water play in the front yard while the back is being worked on. Also cleaning because we have just been so busy and haven't been able to pick up our house and it's a mess. I also want to relax and do my nails!!!

TMI I desperately need a bikini wax but I'm too scared to attempt! I absolutely cannot shave down there or I itch like crazy. The creams seem so aggressive but OMG I need some grooming! Is everyone else just shaving??
  • @morethanamama I used to have the same thing happen to me after shaving so always did wax. A couple of years ago I decided to have some laser hair removal done (not IPL, the real laser), 6 sessions, for me it did hurt quite a bit but was totally worth it. Hair still grows but it's so thin that I'm ready for anything with a quick shave. Same for armpits! I highly recommend it.
  • @morethanamama I want a wax too, but I'm not sure what wax to even get so I've been procrastinating and just shaving and dealing with horrible razor irritation afterwards, ugh.
I told my SO I'm absolutely spending the money on laser hair removal after this lol

Completely off topic, but all of a sudden baby center has been emailing me again, I had to jump through so many hoops to delete my account after my last birth, and now they're emailing me again and I never signed back up, I'm so confused and annoyed.
  • @coldbrew thinking of you! How are you feeling? Any word on your test?

We had a sort of final zoom game night with some college friends last night as one of our best friend couples is due with their first baby next week. We've been playing games fairly regularly, but know that will change when the new baby comes. It was fun, but the mom to be didn't show up (her husband did though). I sort of get it, 39 weeks can be a rough time and this pandemic isn't making it easier, but I was also disappointed not to get to see her at least briefly. At least poke your head in and say hi? Was fun though. I think the pandemic has made me keep in better contact with a lot of people than I did before!
  • @kalesix3 I might just need to do the same 😭 I feel too ungroomed and need something to feel a little cuter, lol! Since I'm definitely NOT glowing this pregnancy.
  • @morethanamama I need a wax so badly... but there's no way I could do it myself 😂

Sort of random, since you mentioned glowing @morethanamama: When my sisters went through each of their pregnancies, and also my friends, I know that they had that pregnant 'look', whether it be a glow or whatever - my question for the experienced moms is when does that usually come into play? Because right now I look like I should live under a bridge somewhere, lol. Certainly not glowing or have that healthy 'I'm pregnant!" look.

  • @babyodo, I personally don’t think I’ve ever had the glow.
If it does appear, I would imagine it to be mid second tri when you have a cute little bump

  • @babyodo I never felt like I had it last time. My hair did get really thick and nice, but my skin was always so terrible. I'm feeling a little glowy now though. Don't think it's actually visible, but I'm feeling so much better than a month ago, have decent skin since I haven't worn makeup in like 2 months with WFH, and am starting to show. I think for me, the 2nd tri energy bump has always happened, so that's what I consider my glowing phase.
  • @babyodo I definitely glowed with my first.  I loved my bump.  I made a point of always doing my hair and makeup whenever I left the house.  My skin was good.  With this kid my hair is awful.  I’ve developed teenage acne.  I definitely look like a hot mess.  Maybe it just depends on the pregnancy?
  • I’ve started watching older movies at night to wind down.  I watched Steel Magnolias tonight and cried like a crazy pregnant lady.  I started A League of Their Own as well which always gives me a good laugh.
  • Starting with a sore throat and mild cough yesterday. I'm sneezing a lot too, so I'm hoping it's just allergies or something, but I don't have a history of seasonal allergies either. Did a virtual appointment this morning and since I'm in healthcare, they are having me be tested for COVID this afternoon. Hopefully it's just an abundance of caution. I wouldn't normally do anything with these symptoms (no fever, etc) but feel like I have to be extra cautious right now.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I'm glad you're able to get tested. It definitely sounds like allergies or maybe a seasonal cold? Thise are the same symptoms I've been dealing with for awhile with allergies. But it is odd if you've never had allergies before. I heard that pregnancy can sometimes cause allergy symptoms to worsen so hopefully that's all it is. Good luck with your test, let us know how it turns out.

I watched this a few weeks ago, and cried like a little girl in the scene when Bill shows up to surprise Dotty as she was crying after they found out that Betty Spaghetti's husband was killed in action. I was a complete mess. It's a good thing MH was napping, otherwise he would have thought I was not okay. My crying did wake my dog up from his nap, though, and he came over to comfort me. The sweetie!

  • @anitamargarita_82 I watched Steel Magnolias last night too! It was on Showtime or something.
  • I’m sorry @carrotsandpeas3 but sending you good vibes for a negative!
  • Is anyone using any kind of sleep lotion or anything?  My sleep is already awful.  Going to bed at like 10 and back up between 3-4am.  Then by 1-2 in the afternoon I feel like I’m done for the day and absolutely exhausted 😩
  • @anitamargarita_82 CBD can help, if you're comfortable with it.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @anitamargarita_82 I've been making my own but I want to try the pregnancy approved one from 8 Sheep Organics, it looks amazing and gets rave reviews. HTH
  • @kboydbowman I can’t use cdb products the navy says no to those things.   Otherwise I’d be all over it.

@kalesix3 I’ll look that up.  I need something that’s for sure.  I’m not far enough along to be miserable and not sleeping.  Last time my sleep didn’t start getting bad until 5 months or so.
