Omg... DD fell last night and we ended up needing to take her into the urgent care to get staples in her head. I’m so upset by the whole thing and I feel like she’s traumatized too.
We didn’t get her home and in bed until 1030 so she’s still sleeping now (830). FX she sleeps in another hour or 2 and is feeling okay when she wakes. I’m ready to just get past the next few weeks and hoping we can do that without major pain and stress for her.
also, this week can just f*ck right off. It’s been horrible 😭
@kc0711 I hope that travel pays off too! My H doesn't really travel now that he changed jobs, but I used to secretly love it because then I got to watch my trash tv after DD went to get without judgment. But yeah, the solo hours while she was awake seemed long. Luckily she's been a great sleeper ever since she turned one (with the help of a sleep consultant )
I'm having the same thing happen with getting notifications of new comments even though it's just my comment! So lame.
I had the weirdest dreams last night, like back to back to back. One was terrible where I drove a bus off a cliff and me and my dad were in there (?????). Then one was about the Democratic presidential debate that I was watching before bed but I was watching it live and it was more like the cold open for SNL (like with Kate McKinnon playing Elizabeth Warren). Then the next one was the sellers of the house we are buying (who we've never met) were hosting a party at the house and invited us. It was some huge party and was fun but then at the end all of these strange people started arriving and it started turning into a swingers party or something. It was... strange.
@blaf322 omg we posted at the same time so my post seems so insensitive after yours! I'm so sorry about DD and that whole situation sounds so traumatizing! How did she fall?? Our DD fell down the stairs around Thanksgiving and it was so so awful. Like will never forget the sound and her cries
@blaf322 oh boy, when it rains it pours, I guess. Sorry for your shitty week and hope DD gets better fast!
@meanjellybean I’ve definitely had some bizarre dreams this pregnancy. Of course, none that I can remember anymore because the pregnancy brain is too real lately. I didn’t really dream much after having DS. He was such a crappy sleeper that I think I never was in a deep enough sleep cycle to actually dream lol. Pregnancy is bringing dreams back
@blaf322 oh my goodness, things can only look up! I hope she wakes up happy. I’d most likely spoil my kid for the day, which probably isn’t the best parenting advice. She’ll probably talk about it for weeks 🙁
@blaf322 Oh man, I hope she's feeling ok when she wakes up! FWIW, I had 5 staples in my head when I was 5 and I don't remember much of it. I hope your next few days are a whole lot better.
I just booked the hotel I will be staying one night in alone while in KY before I hop on a bus to school for orientation. I don't even have kids yet, but am SO excited for just a whole night alone to myself, maybe even to just get away from a usually messy house, and all the velcro-animals we have. (not even really upset I'll be spending my entire birthday flying/alone. I enjoy flying )
Thanks guys... she woke just before 9am and was in a great mood. Not acting bothered by it, at all. Which blows my mind. I’ve been able to apply neosporin without her acting like it bothers her, so that’s really good! I think I’m more traumatized than she is 😂
@footdrbritt I’m so glad to hear that. I posted to my local mom group asking about experiences others have had and all but one said staple removal was horrible. That at least one staple got stuck 😩 I’m trying to be really on top of making sure to keep the area moist so that doesn’t happen to her.
@meanjellybean haha... I wouldn’t have even thought twice about your post. I know how it goes 😀 no one saw bc she ran ahead of me into her bedroom to pick a book to read, but it seems she fell off the recliner when climbing up and slammed the back of her head on the bookshelf that’s next to it.
@blaf322 they’re super easy and actually it’s a total guilty pleasure of mine—I won’t let me nurses do them because I enjoy taking them out (weird I know). Just make sure she’s distracted and they should pop right out with the staple remover
@blaf322 crappy week for you, so sorry. I had staples a few times as a kid. I'm such a klutz. I don't remember the removal of any of them. Just thinking they looked cool and I got a toy b/c of the injury for one.
on our local classifieds, someone is selling an UppaBaby Vista Stroller (pre-2015) and a Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat (expires in May 2023) for $350...the UppaBaby Vista is the stroller on my registry and the Chicco KeyFit is the car seat on my registry.....do you think we should get it? Strollers dont expire, right?

@knockupthestock I don't think strollers expire, so no real input there, but I would advise against getting a used car seat. You don't know the history of the seat - it could've been compromised in an accident even if there isn't any visible damage. The *only* time I *might* consider a used seat is from a family member or trusted friend who would tell me the truth about if it's ever been in an accident. It's just not worth the risk in my opinion.
@knockupthestock before deciding on the stroller I would make sure you’re still able to easily find attachments you might want (unless this comes with everything!), and if your car seat will be compatible
The last few weeks have just been really hard. I’ve been doing my best to take care of myself but I feel like I’m failing at everything. My 3.5 & 2.5 year old just got over this nasty stomach virus. But while it was happening, it just didn’t feel right to me. I know that sounds silly but something in my mom instincts just made me press it. So the dr referred us to a GI. They did some testing and my son (2.5) tested positive for celiac and will have an endoscopy next week. (My daughter was negative). He’s been in a terrible mood and I know he feels miserable. It’s just mind blowing how he was healthy one day and now he just has this autoimmune disease. I’m coping with it better each day but the reality of how complicated life is going to be very shortly, is just daunting.
@rachstar18 that is actually really common for Celiac. Typically a “traumatizing” event will trigger the gene. The “trauma” can be anything- illness, injury, psychological like a divorce. His trigger was probably the stomach bug he got. I was diagnosed with Celiac at 16 after a serious knee injury and surgery. Perfectly fine before hand, sick as a dog after. I will say, the good thing is they found it so quickly and he shouldn’t have much damage (if any! He’s so young). If you have any Celiac related questions, I’d be happy to answer them for you. At this point I’ve had Celiac longer than I haven’t and barely remember life before it.
@rachstar18 sorry to hear about your son! That’s a lot to take in, but sounds like it’s something you can become well informed it to help ease the stress.
The week of bad stuff continues...oh man, I love my husband, but last night after dinner he bit into a piece of chocolate and broke a crown off, right at the gum line. He got so stressed out and panicked our night just got hot. I gave him space, but also tried to be there for him...but men 😂
hes at the dentist now this morning to get a temporary repair, but will most likely need an implant.
@kc0711 that’s what the dr told me even before he ran the blood work. It’s just so out left field. Nobody on either side of our family has it (to our knowledge). I just really don’t even know where to start. We have to wait until the endo is complete before we are to do anything. So I’m just hoping this week for fast and he’s not in too much pain.
@rachstar18 that’s how it was in my family, I was the first diagnosed, and no one else in my family has it. It can be daunting at first, but there is so much available now, it really has made a huge difference! Hopefully he gets to feeling better quickly!
Finally catching up here, and wow it seems like everyone is going through a bit of a rough week! You can add me to that group. Not quite ready to get into it yet. Sending positive vibes to all who need them, and welcoming some with open arms over here while we play a waiting game!
Also does anyone follow astrology? Haha, I'm not huge into it or anything BUT I do know we are in a mercury retrograde right now and I'm going to go ahead and blame the difficult week we've all been having on that!
My randoms: 1. All I want these days is nachos. It's not even 10am and all I can think about is a giant plate of nachos.
2. In the last few weeks, I've had this weird thing happening as I'm trying to fall asleep. I'll involuntarily like... grunt/snort? And very forcefully too. It first started when I had a pretty bad cold, so I assumed it was just that and not being able to breathe well through my nose. It happened several nights in a row and then stopped. But it's happening again this week?! Wtf is my body doing? Is this a pregnancy thing? A congestion thing? From my googling, all I can come up with is sleep apnea, but it's happening when I'm still awake, not when I'm asleep. Idk, I'm guessing this is just a me problem, but thought I'd ask you all anyway. (and yes, I plan on asking my doctor on Monday.)
@stlbuckeye132 I wonder if you're on the cusp of falling asleep and waking yourself with a snore/grunt. It may be an apnea episode or just that you're not used to the noise.
@rachstar18 I know it sounds so daunting but at least you’re finding out while he’s still so young and can begin adapting to a new lifestyle. My best friend was just tentatively diagnosed with it at the age of 31. She suffered from horrible, migraines her whole life and is just now finding out it’s because of Celiacs. Hasn’t had a single headache since eliminating gluten. If she had been diagnosed while young, a lot of suffering could’ve been avoided. Wishing you the smoothest transition!!
On a totally unrelated note, DH is working from home today and I’m also home. I made a healthy snack of tuna and cucumbers and brought it up to him since he’s having a super busy day. He said “no thank you, I just brushed my teeth.” I texted him “starve and die” when I got back down. 1000% warranted 😂
@blaf322 idk, it definitely feels more forceful than a snore. Like imagine you're trying to blow your really congested nose, and that's what it feels like I'm doing lol but it's like starting from the back of my throat. The first time it happened, MH was like, "wtf was that?" it's loud.
@stlbuckeye132 that sounds like sleep apnea....my dad has it and that is exactly what it sounds like for him. hopefully your doctor can help!

@stlbuckeye132 You can have apnea episodes while awake. Less common than the other type but possible. Worth talking to dr about if it continues. The grunt is kinda like the body kicking in breathe human.
I wonder if they even treat sleep apnea if they feel like it's just b/c you're pregnant? I mean, it feels serious enough to want to treat... but with all the qualifying that goes into getting a CPAP machine, I feel like you wouldn't even be pregnant anymore by the time you, 1- got approved for a machine and 2- got the settings and mask issues adjusted and settled. Plus, by the time you were used to it, it wouldn't be an issue lol
ETA- I used to do sales for a home medical equipment company and I've never seen pregnancy listed as a comorbidity for qualifying for a CPAP so maybe they don't? Or maybe it just doesn't come up because people don't address it fast enough?
Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few days. It looks like a lot of us have had a bad week! So sorry to those who have been having a bad week as well. I’m doing a bit better but still feeling so guilty it’s like I know we did the best we could with the info we had but now that we did and know what it’s like I want to go back and I dunno do it different even though I know we’d just continue to be faced with the same decision.
Anyway, I’m now trying to focus on possibly moving to keep my mind off it. We finally got called and approved so we can move forward. Unfortunately the house we loved is under contract now but another one came up we think we will like as well so we are going to see that tomorrow. I know moving will be stressful so maybe it’s not the best thing to do pregnant but I really want the girls to have a fenced yard when this baby is here (maybe a dumb reason to move too lol).
