February Symptoms

Re: February Symptoms

  • @pourmeanothermocktail thanks for the belt suggestion. I'm still holding out hope it's a pulled muscle. I'll ask my dr at my next appt the first week of march and use my belly band until then i think. I went to yoga last night and the instructor helped me with a few really good stretches for the front of my body that hit the exact right spot that  has been hurting on the left side of my pubic bone.

For people that have had SPD, do you find it's a pinpoint pain in the same spot consistently? or does it move around? mine is always in the exact same location and feels like a muscle on the left side down low near my pubic bone, wrapping up/around my uterus if that makes sense.

  • @allie456 I wear compression socks for work and they help reduce my leg/foot fatigue. I haven’t had any swelling yet so I can’t vouch for how well they work with that, but I get this brand. They also sell them at REI. I have the moderate and I think that’s plenty of compression. Definitely read the instructions on how to put them on! https://sockwellusa.com/
  • @sunshinesea22 thank you! I was looking on Amazon last night and just bewildered by all the possibilities.

I had not thought about the support belt or socks being covered by my HSA, that's a good point also.

I'm sorry to everyone dealing with SPD, that sounds agonizing.
  • @pourmeanothermocktail thanks I saw that one too and will probably order it if I don't like this one.

@mamaqdubu I'm not positive what I have is SPD and it doesn't sound the same as what you're experiencing. Mine started as a sharp pulling pain along the front of my left hip below my belly and has become a sharp, sometimes burning pain across the front left side of my pubic area. This new pain has been pretty consistent, and not changing location. I hope you find some relief!
  • I'm sorry for everyone dealing with SPD, I was having it really bad back in December, and started sleeping with a pillow between my legs, and also started teaching sitting down instead of standing, and that seemed to help.

I'm currently 27w2d and my mucus plug just came out in the shower. Everything online sounds like it will regenerate itself, or it is a sign of preterm labor, which seems like normal internet options, either everything is fine, or the opposite of it.
I sent a message to my doctor to check with them on if I need to come in before my 28 week appointment on Monday. Hopefully I hear back tomorrow, and everything is fine.

This is my third pregnancy, and I've never had this happen before, so I was pretty taken aback.

I'll talk to my MW about it on Thursday and perhaps start going to the chiro I really don't want to because the only one who can do the webster technique and deal with pregnancy is 1.5 hours away and last pregnancy I wasn't able to align my MW appointment with him very well so I had to take two days off and then sitting for 1.5 hour drive back isn't good after the appointment either.
You don't need a Webster certified just to help align your pelvis. And it didn't help mine. That trip doesn't sound worth it to me! Chiropractor is not the end-all be-all for me personally.

  • @mamaqdubu For me it's usually all in one spot for hours, but I have 3 or 4 spots it can hit. It's ALWAYS directly at the pubic bone, but sometimes other places in addition. But that COULD be round ligament pain too. For me the test is whether it hurts more when you are standing with one foot in the air, or when trying to take a step up onto something.

@heatherlynn321 Sleeping with pillow between my knees is totally imperative even not pregnant for me, but during pregnancy I have 3 between there in order to be able to sleep at all. And yeah, lots of sitting. They *help* at least. I would be very concerned about plug. I always lose it within 48 hours of labor starting. Are you having any BH at all? Preterm labor for me was very very very much like BH, it didn't hurt much at all for HOURS. I would get into L&D (if it were me, I've had one preemie) and get a transvaginal ultrasound to check cervix length. I recommend those over cervical checks because they can give more info but also irritate cervix less and are less likely to introduce bacteria. Irritate cervixes can cause contractions or thinning/dilation. BUT, I'm very cautious when it comes to preterm stuff due to history. I would call the nurse line if you have one.

@heatherlynn321. I’m pretty sure it regenerates for awhile.  ETA: I can’t remember when it stops offhand, but I know right now I wouldn’t be concerned if I saw some (27w1d)
  • @pourmeanothermocktail I sent a message to the nurses' line. I dont have a history of preterm labor, both of my previous babies had to be induced in the end. If I had a history, I'd definitely be freaking out some more. I've had a little bit of BH on and off for the past several weeks, but nothing big, and it's not increasing or anything. If I dont hear back from them by lunch tomorrow, I'll definitely call to check in, but they're usually really good about responding to the messaging service first thing in the morning.
  • I’m getting the worst acid reflux/heartburn after dinner. No other meal just dinner. I thought I might actually vomit tonight it felt like it came up so high ugh
  • @babyfoxden10 Ugh heartburn. If I do this (while heartburn is bad) it helps a little. It helps to close the lower esophageal sphincter. You don't need to do the leg portion, just the arms. Hope you find some relief!

@heatherlynn321 Hopefully it regenerates itself. I'd still want to be seen, I know it would make me feel better.

I never lost my mucus plug or it happened post epidural and I had no clue. My water never broke either, DD plugged the hole before it happened. If either happen before I'm in the hospital this time I'll probably freak out.
  • @babyfoxden10 mine was so bad last night I thought I had forgotten to take my tums, I've got to talk to the MW about what I can take that's stronger last time it was zantac but I don't think that's allowed now.
  • @heatherlynn321 I lost mine at 30 weeks with DS1 due to preterm labor, it did regenerate and I lost it again at 37 weeks and DS1 was born a week later. My OB mentioned that a lot of things can cause you to lose it: cervix irritability (from sex or infection), frequent BH or dehydration, being very active, etc. It’s not as uncommon as you think. They might check to make sure your cervix is still closed as a precaution. I know they did a vaginal ultrasound to check my cervix when it happened for me.
  • @heatherlynn321 Any sex recently?  I had a very large amount of mucus come out, along with some mild cramping a while back.  They had me go in as a precaution to check my cervix.  I think it my case, it was dislodged by sex.  My cervix was thankfully still nice and closed.

  • @shamrocandroll, No, I've been on pelvic rest since 16 weeks. They messaged me back asking about the color, I guess to figure out if it had blood in it. There was no blood, but the size is what freaked me out, it was about the size of a quarter. I'm still waiting to hear back after I sent that message, I'm wondering if they'll just wait to check at my 28 week appointment on Monday.
  • @heatherlynn321
That is how I found out my cervix had shortened and I was funnelling. 3 mornings in a row I had bits of the plug coming out (no blood). I asked for an extra ultrasound and they confirmed. It probably isn't your case as you haven't had a history of incompetent cervix, but just to be safe, it would be great if they could see you sooner.
  • Back has been bothering me.  This is a normal part of life for me, but possibly worse because of pregnancy.  Went to bed sore and woke up with horrible spasms and got up and walked around and spent time sitting on my massage chair.  Fell back asleep for an hour or two, which was amazing, only to be woken up by a nightmare.  Ugh.  Soooo freakin tired and soooo sore.  I can't decide if yoga today will make things better or worse, thinking I might skip it and just do a few safe stretches at home.

Any of you taking magnesium, what dose?  My doctor recommended it for headaches, but I think it might help with my back/muscle issues too, but I forget how much she said to take.  I can ask my OB tomorrow if I remember, but it's also my hospital tour so I fear I'll be a bit distracted.

@pirateduck I've mentioned several places that I am taking magnesium bisglycinate. I take 1 scoop per night in a glass of water, sometimes I do a full scoop, sometimes I don't. I take it right after dinner and usually am going to bed around 1-2 hours later. I wasn't taking it every night previously, but since my restless legs picked up I have been doing it daily. I haven't had any issues with sleep, maybe this has been a factor in that? This is the one I am taking:

  • @m6agua I think I read that it is better to take magnesium in the evenings in general.  I'm going to give it a shot because it's rumored to possibly help with multiple issues I am having.  Thanks for the link!

@pirateduck I just talked to my mw about magnesium today for my leg cramping. She suggested starting at 500mg daily then I can build up to 750mg then 1000mg, if needed. She did say the higher amounts can cause loose stool, which doesn’t concern me since I’m dealing with constipation, but something to know.

    ETA: tag
  • @rachelg777 I’ll definitely try it!
  • I just heard back, they said since I'm not experiencing contractions that we can address it at my appointment on Monday, but if I start to experience any contractions at all, to come in.

I was going to wait on packing a hospital bag till next month, but think I'm going to get it packed tomorrow night, just in case.
Size of a quarter with no blood, no contractions, no further loss sounds less concerning than what I was thinking.

When I lost mine before my preemie, it was more like a small plum. Twice, maybe three times? And I was already having a ton of contractions. And they told me not to worry. Ugh.

Glad you called though and I think it should regenerate until about 36 weeks.

  • @babyfoxden10 I am with you there with the heartburn only at night. I've been sleeping with an extra pillow propped up and my pregnancy pillow around me.
  • I am so tired, I can't get enough rest. It of course doesn't help that I get woken up by everything all night but I could probably go to bed now and sleep until tomorrow morning...and the return of morning sickness has been a real fun game.
  • Oh no I didn’t even know morning sickness could return @mamaj1220 back to PreggiePops and saltines 👎🏼 Hopefully it passes soon for you
  • Same on the tiredness. Considering how I can incorporate an 11am nap in my workday.

My feet are also getting pretty swollen.

  • this is random, but is anyone else noticing abrasions or cuts on your legs/feet that seem to be really slow to heal? I have no idea if that would be related to pregnancy at all but I never experienced this before I got knocked up.
  • I guess the weird slow healing thing is just me!

I'm sorry to everyone who's got morning sickness back. That is so miserable.
  • @allie456 My shins are super super slow to heal, even when not pregnant. I play a contact sport (when not pregnant) and it takes months for cuts/bruises on my shins to go away. The consensus among my league mates is that's pretty normal. I banged my shin pretty hard on a cart at work like three weeks ago and it's still bruised, so extra blood volume hasn't made that heal any faster!
  • @allie456 DS1 dropped a hot wheels car on my big toe last week. I still have a bruise going from that. I’ve always been a slow healer though thanks to be anemic.

I had MS up until 20 weeks and it decided to show back up this week. I got a very short 9 week break. I don’t sleep anymore. Ever. And I stop eating at 6pm but still go to bed around 1am with heartburn. But it’s fine, totally fine. Who needs sleep, food or sanity at this point?
  • @rox7777 my winning combo when my stomach was bad was a Pepcid one hour before dinner and 2 tums immediately after eating.
  • @pirateduck I’ve been doing Pepcid plus 3 tums. I think it’s more her position than anything because I don’t eat any time close to laying down, but her foot is currently lodged under the left side of my rib cage.
  • Ugh @rox7777 that’s unfortunate.  Things definitely get squished in us in strange ways at different times.
  • Oh so achy! I feel sore in my lower back and to a lesser extend everywhere else. So tired!

  • The swelling is getting really annoying, I know nothing I can do right now but swelling around my joints kills with the Lyme.
  • My belly is starting to get heavy and it's getting hard and painful to move by early afternoon, so I'm considering getting a ring sling for support (with the added bonus of breaking it in).
