@MrsWheeler we will be announcing for Valentine's as well! But nothing on social, just a Valentine's themed paper announcement card that will most likely go out the Monday after lol
@mrswheeler812 Can you find another doctor? That was incredibly insensitive of him. If you can't, is there a place where you can either file a complaint, or at least leave a terrible review? You pay him, not the other way around, so you deserve a doctor who will listen and validate your concerns.
@mrswheeler812 how are you announcing?? We announced this last weekend-it feels so good to be out!
EDD/weeks+days: August 3rd/15 weeks +1 day
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado or box of crayons
Upcoming appointments: Next week I have the 16 week appt and some blood work. Last blood work appt I passed out, so bringing snacks this time around!
How are you feeling? I've been feeling pretty good this week! I tried going without caffeine completely (most days) until now. I feel so much better giving myself my 200 mg lol.
Raves/Rants: Rave-The Perfect Bar, it's a refrigerated protein bar made with peanut butter (or other nut butters) some have chocolate. Oh they are so good and a great protein boost to get me through the morning! I got mine at Walmart near the yogurt section, but I've seen them all over. Rant-I'm so burnt out from my job. I'm not sure if it's just my pregnancy hormones or if it's just timing.
Questions:
GTKY: Any Valentine's Day plans or traditions in your house? I got DD a cute new outfit for her vday party at school and usually just get my husband some beef jerky or cigars! Just texted him if he wants to go out for/or pick up sushi and he's in so sounds like we have a date.
mrswheeler812 that doctor sounds like a twat, I would like to say much worse but I'm sure I would get a warning. WTF...I'm truly speechless. How do you even react to that? Can you see a different doctor next time?
rivercitynik I agree with what the other ladies said. It feels like someone is pushing from within for me. Just a little bit of pressure from the inside.

@blackgirlmagic - Since we don't have a solid path yet I don't have to go back to her thank goodness so I will just suffer the longer drive and go to a different doctor next time. @gomillis - It was completely inappropriate and I will not see her again. @wildrainbow - I will see a different one, luckily she doesnt go to their second location so I will just take the longer drive. I also plan to file a complaint with the network. @BusinessWife@mrs_sheddy - Im so excited I took the pictures last night! We are posting this on friday morning!
@mrswheeler812 Wow that is such a cute announcement! I love it! Wish I could do something similar but I’m expecting #3 and that doesn’t exactly rhyme haha! Wow, what an insensitive dr. So glad you won’t be seeing her again!
@mrswheeler812 SUCH a cute announcement!! Glad you’re planning on switching doctors. Sorry they treated you so poorly.
@mrs_sheddy I’ve seen those bars but never tried them! Thanks for the recommendation.
Happy birthday to all you Feb birthday ladies!
EDD/weeks+days: 13 weeks
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: team pink!!
Baby is the size of a(n): Daisy
Upcoming appointments: 16 weeks
How are you feeling? So much better! I feel like I say that every week and I’m afraid to jinx myself.
Raves/Rants: I’m feeling movement too! I didn’t feel it until 16 weeks last time because I had a partially anterior placenta, but been feeling flutters for about a week now.
Questions: no
GTKY: Any Valentine's Day plans or traditions in your house? Not really. We always exchange cards and hopefully I get flowers! I got us tickets to a college basketball game on Saturday night and booked a babysitter so we will have a night out too 🙂
@mrswheeler812 OMG that is adorable!! I had originally wanted to announce on Valentine's Day with something like "our hearts couldn't be more full"... but I'll be just over 12w1d and have my scan on Tuesday.. so would rather just wait.. Good luck! And PS. I'm glad you aren't seeing that dr anymore.. I agree that you should report him or at the very least, leave him some nasty reviews. What a prick.

How are you feeling? Normal amount of tired I think. I've been starving today though. I can also feel baby today. It feels like someone is tickling me.
Raves/Rants: The Bump just started working properly today. The load time has been dreadful and the app just doesn't work. Also the weather in Georgia is insane! In the past 7 days it has been 80 degrees, we have had tornadoes, it has snowed an inch, and we are now currently flooding with all of our rivers in flood stage. It is just ridiculous.
Questions: Not right now
GTKY: Any Valentine's Day plans or traditions in your house? I actually don't like Valentine's Day. I don't like waiting at restaurants for a table, I'm not a fan of overpriced flowers and it was just Christmas so I don't need any more presents. I do make Valentine's for my boys' classes though. They love to participate in the school parties and I 100% support them in all aspects of that.
@mrswheeler812 but what I want to know is.... Who got to eat the sweethearts with the SHARPIE on them???? Lol
I had to throw them away right away to make sure my 2.5 year old couldn't get them XD It's a good thing I did because he was very excited to show me his box full of them he managed to get from the counter when I got home last night...
Ahhh! I'm getting so far behind on this thread. I'll try to catch up this afternoon!
EDD/weeks+days: Aug. 24th 12 + 2.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green
Baby is the size of a(n): Plum
Upcoming appointments: This afternoon.
How are you feeling? Fine, mostly. Still dealing with a bit of lower back discomfort that I suspect will get worse over time, but I fully have my appetite back, so I'm thrilled about that.
Raves/Rants: Rave: Put together another Valentine's Day/birthday care package for a family member this week. My son helped with the baking and made a homemade card to include. This is our fourth one to go out over the last week, and I love watching the tracking to see when everyone's gifts are delivered. I feel like a little birthday elf. This time we made our own strawberry Pop-Tarts with homemade pie crust and chocolate chip brownies. We put them in little treat bags and tied them with ribbon. Makes me happy in my soul. Rant: I've been reminding DH periodically over the past two weeks that I have a midwife appointment this afternoon, if it would be possible for him to help out with the kids. He nonchalantly has responded that he should be able to, so this morning, I asked if he remembered my appointment today, and he responded, "I really do have a lot of stuff to get done at work today." So, it looks like I'm making the 45 minute drive for a basic appointment with both kids by myself.
Questions: Re: Anyone else announcing on Valentines day? @mrswheeler812 I was thinking about it, but now I feel more like an Easter announcement instead.
GTKY: Any Valentine's Day plans or traditions in your house? I'm going to get DH some bourbon and maybe a card and something sweet to eat. No big plans, though. We thought about going for a hike with the kids, but it's supposed to be in the 20s that day, sooo....
@lachnessmomster ah! You are amazing. I was actually just thinking about sending something to SILs for her and the girls, but now on such short notice, I am not even sure anymore what I could pull off...
@lachnessmomster OMG, those treats sound so dreamy, I'm drooling over here. You will totally be the grandma everyone wants to visit! You are so sweet to make little care packages. I'm sorry YH blew you off re: your appt today. I hope the appt goes well!! We are now thinking of a leap day announcement! I'll be 14 weeks then and our parents are driving us crazy with when they can share the news... they've begun to try and negotiate... SMH. Going to browse online for some ideas today... It's going to be a struggle to get any work done lol.

@BusinessWife Thank you so much! A basic chocolate chip or snickerdoodle cookie recipe are my go-tos when I'm on a time crunch, and it only cost me $7.50 for two-day shipping. If there's a will, there's a way. 😂 It also helped that I had a bunch of leftover pie crust in the freezer from previous apple and chocolate pies. Sped the process up by a lot!
@ziggymama06 You are so sweet! And I love the idea of a leap day announcement! You'll have to share with us when you get it all finished! I've been browsing Easter ideas, but it's so hard to find something that hasn't been done a billion times. This is the announcement that I posted for DD. I had my very talented friend paint it for me, and she used a photo I took of DS and our bulldog. I still love just staring at it. I shared on Mother's Day.
Aww, you guys with the announcements are hitting me in the feels big-time. I guess I don't mind announcing soonish, assuming today's scan goes well. And of course now that the day is here, I'm just a big ball of nerves, scared and imagining the worst...
@lachnessmomster I will be going alone today, too. I'm not sure though if I would be dropping DD off at daycare or bringing her along. I know once I'm SAH it wouldn't really be an optiin, I'm just wondering how that would work if I'm having a scan and also there's a toddler????
@BusinessWife The only reason that I feel like I could pull this off is that it's just a quick visit. I'm assuming they'll use the doppler to listen for a heartbeat, do the standard business, and I'll be on my way. I think DH felt guilty, because he's now offered to take DS to work with him, so I'll just have DD. Hopefully she holds it together for me. I hope everything goes smoothly for you today!
Also, ETA: @mrswheeler812, I just scrolled up a little and saw your ADORABLE announcement. Now you're making me want to post on Valentine's Day, too! I love it!
@BusinessWife I’ve taken my baby (she was 9.5 months at the time) to an emergency scan at the ER where I had to wait 2 hrs for results. Not going to lie, it sucked having to entertain her for 2.5 hrs at the hospital but I got through it with lots of snacks. If I had to take my 3 yo (which I have, to clinics and my own drs appointments before) I’d take an iPad with me with a game or two on t or some downloaded shows from NETFLIX Good luck today! I know the feeling of being totally calm until scan day and then feeling like a ball of nerves!
@kgrgreen Haha! Thanks! Your attempt was much better than mine
lachnessmomster, I need you to create me a cookbook and/or just cook for me. Everything you make sounds delicious. Signed, By a women who can't cook
@ziggymama06 my MIL asked several times when she could share the news with other people. I will say it's annoying, but I will say I love how excited grandparents get.
Regarding bringing kids to doctors appointments, my daughter is not a fan of me going to do the doctors with her. She is always worried and all up in the doctors or nurses face making sure they don't hurt me. lol. It's really sweet, but I could not imagine going to a pregnancy appointment with her.
@rivercitynik Thanks so much! My appointment was pretty standard, which is fine by me! I got to hear baby's heartbeat via doppler, so I was ecstatic about that. I also got my anatomy scan scheduled for April. Seems like forever away! Thanks for thinking of us!
@blackgirlmagic Girl, I so would. It's how I show my love. You are sweet for saying that! I get so invested in what I'm making that it seriously hurts my pride when I screw something up. Particularly pie crusts. DH has raved about his Maw-Maw's apple pie since the beginning of our marriage. She even included a pie dish and recipe for the apple filling in my wedding shower present. I've spent the past nearly ten years of my life trying to perfect them. I've cried over many a pie crust, but every year gets a little better!
ETA: Sorry, @riatortillaxo! Didn't see your comment! Yeah, super easy to find on Pinterest. Most of the recipes I found called for store bought crust, but I just used what I already had made in the freezer. We used strawberry jelly for the filling, then I made a quick pink icing and had DS decorate with sprinkles!
Thank you!!! @rivercitynik @laur84ns @tyrion_ @lachnessmomster Today's appointment went well, and DD was a little trooper! (Mostly lol) .when we got home I did a mock 50g glucose test (with pear juice), and passed with flying colors, so I'll repeat that in a couple weeks, and again a couple days before my 16w appointment.
Then I also got my announcement ordered!!!! And bought the postage lol fx it comes back quickly and I can get the image over to Staples for a quick turnaround... I'm so excited!!!
@BusinessWife Yay for a great appointment! What is this about a mock glucose test? I didn't know this was a thing! And I'm so excited for you about your announcements! I've never thought to do actual paper ones. So cute!
@lachnessmomster ah! Yes, it's fun. I made the actual flatlay and took the picture for DDs (talk about tedious, time consuming etc); for this one I found a flatlay design on Etsy I really liked, so she will just customize the text on the onesie, and overall it will be a very similar style to DDs, but just red and Valentine's esque, where DDs was a bit more neutral grey/mint style. At least *hope* they end up looking sorta similar side by side when all is said and done! :#
DH is diabetic, so we have the tester and test strips right here! I just take 50g of carbs and then watch the clock. I actually tested a baseline (115) then drank the juice, then tested at 30 min (110), and 60 min (92). Passing the real test is below 140 at the hour mark. So I did that last time too to try and keep an eye, because everyone kept saying, oh your weight, you'll GIVE YOURSELF GD, (which, in case no one ever told you, I am here to tell you is not a thing.)
Anyway, it helps me feel more confident that I'm keeping an eye out for it, because you know, some people just grow big babies, and I'm probably one of them. The last thing I need is GD on top! Fx
@BusinessWife Oooh! Okay. That makes sense. When I took my first glucose test, I thought for sure I'd failed it. I felt so hot, sticky, and shaky that I literally went to lie down on the bathroom floor at the birth center. Gross, I know, but the cold floor felt so good on my clammy body. I asked if it was normal for people to respond like that and was told, "No, not really," and I started crying. The nurse felt so bad for me that she personally called the next day to tell me my results. Turns out my numbers bottomed out into I think the 40s. She told me to make sure I always carried high protein snacks with me to prevent feeling like that. I was so stressed to take it the second time around with DD, but didn't have nearly as bad of an experience that time, thank goodness. I'm not looking forward to it again this time. I don't know why, but that test makes me so anxious.
@BusinessWife Yay that your appt went well! And I love that you are sending out paper announcements, so classic!! Share a pic once they come in! We will announce on fb in a few weeks and send our paper announcements once baby girl arrives.
@lachnessmomster OMG, that sounds horrible. I'm sorry the first time around was so traumatic! Hopefully this time will be more like the last time, and even better. When do they do the glucose test?
