Re: Check-in w/o Feb 10th

  • @MrsWheeler we will be announcing for Valentine's as well!  But nothing on social, just a Valentine's themed paper announcement card that will most likely go out the Monday after lol

  • @mrswheeler812 I’m really sorry your doctor talked to you like that. That is so inappropriate and insensitive.
  • mrswheeler812 that doctor sounds like a twat, I would like to say much worse but I'm sure I would get a warning. WTF...I'm truly speechless. How do you even react to that? Can you see a different doctor next time?

laur84ns I hope that your appointment goes well!

rivercitynik I agree with what the other ladies said. It feels like someone is pushing from within for me. Just a little bit of pressure from the inside.

  • @mrswheeler812 Wow that is such a cute announcement! I love it! Wish I could do something similar but I’m expecting #3 and that doesn’t exactly rhyme haha!
Wow, what an insensitive dr. So glad you won’t be seeing her again!
  • @jwhite3116 The weather here in Texas has been crazy too! It was 80 degrees one day and the next day it snowed (which almost never happens here).
  • @mrswheeler812 SO cute!! What an adorable way to announce.

@laur84ns "Roses are red, buzz goes the bee, We're expecting baby #3"  :D Solid attempt at rhyming to makes yours fit
  • @mrswheeler812 but what I want to know is.... Who got to eat the sweethearts with the SHARPIE on them???? Lol
  • @mrswheeler812 but what I want to know is.... Who got to eat the sweethearts with the SHARPIE on them???? Lol
I had to throw them away right away to make sure my 2.5 year old couldn't get them XD It's a good thing I did because he was very excited to show me his box full of them he managed to get from the counter when I got home last night...
  • @mrswheeler812 Same here in Alabama. We've been under a flood warning every day. My backyard is completely under water.
  • @wildrainbow Yikes, stay safe!  I hope the water subsides soon and doesn't cause any damage!!

  • @lachnessmomster ah!  You are amazing. I was actually just thinking about sending something to SILs for her and the girls, but now on such short notice, I am not even sure anymore what I could pull off...
  • @lachnessmomster Wow!  That painting is beautiful!  I would totally stare at it too... I'd probably frame it!  lol... We want to incorporate our dog too!

  • Aww, you guys with the announcements are hitting me in the feels big-time.  I guess I don't mind announcing soonish, assuming today's scan goes well.  And of course now that the day is here, I'm just a big ball of nerves, scared and imagining the worst...

@lachnessmomster I will be going alone today, too.  I'm not sure though if I would be dropping DD off at daycare or bringing her along.  I know once I'm SAH it wouldn't really be an optiin, I'm just wondering how that would work if I'm having a scan and also there's a toddler????

@BusinessWife The only reason that I feel like I could pull this off is that it's just a quick visit. I'm assuming they'll use the doppler to listen for a heartbeat, do the standard business, and I'll be on my way. I think DH felt guilty, because he's now offered to take DS to work with him, so I'll just have DD. Hopefully she holds it together for me. I hope everything goes smoothly for you today!

Also, ETA: @mrswheeler812, I just scrolled up a little and saw your ADORABLE announcement. Now you're making me want to post on Valentine's Day, too! I love it!
  • @BusinessWife I’ve taken my baby (she was 9.5 months at the time) to an emergency scan at the ER where I had to wait 2 hrs for results. Not going to lie, it sucked having to entertain her for 2.5 hrs at the hospital but I got through it with lots of snacks. If I had to take my 3 yo (which I have, to clinics and my own drs appointments before) I’d take an iPad with me with a game or two on t or some downloaded shows from NETFLIX ;) Good luck today! I know the feeling of being totally calm until scan day and then feeling like a ball of nerves!

@kgrgreen Haha! Thanks! Your attempt was much better than mine

@mrswheeler812 LOVE! I couldn't come up with a cute caption so we went with "Coming August" lol

Edited because I wrote coming april instead of august lol! Losing my mind today. What year is it?!
  • @BusinessWife and @lachnessmomster hope the appointments go well! Also, those homemade pop tarts sound sooo good!

@tyrion_ such a good description of what it feels like!

  • @blackgirlmagic I am so intrigued by these homemade poptarts! Are they pretty easy to make? Easy to find on Pinterest?
  • riatortillaxo did you mean to tag lachnessmomster? She's the one making us all hungry over here.

  • @mrswheeler812 I love love love your announcement!
  • @BusinessWife Yay for a great appointment! What is this about a mock glucose test? I didn't know this was a thing! And I'm so excited for you about your announcements! I've never thought to do actual paper ones. So cute!
  • @lachnessmomster ah!  Yes, it's fun.  I made the actual flatlay and took the picture for DDs (talk about tedious, time consuming etc); for this one I found a flatlay design on Etsy I really liked, so she will just customize the text on the onesie, and overall it will be a very similar style to DDs, but just red and Valentine's esque, where DDs was a bit more neutral grey/mint style.  At least *hope* they end up looking sorta similar side by side when all is said and done!  :#

DH is diabetic, so we have the tester and test strips right here!  I just take 50g of carbs and then watch the clock.  I actually tested a baseline (115) then drank the juice, then tested at 30 min (110), and 60 min (92).  Passing the real test is below 140 at the hour mark.  So I did that last time too to try and keep an eye, because everyone kept saying, oh your weight, you'll GIVE YOURSELF GD, (which, in case no one ever told you, I am here to tell you is not a thing.)

Anyway, it helps me feel more confident that I'm keeping an eye out for it, because you know, some people just grow big babies, and I'm probably one of them.  The last thing I need is GD on top! Fx
  • @BusinessWife Oooh! Okay. That makes sense. When I took my first glucose test, I thought for sure I'd failed it. I felt so hot, sticky, and shaky that I literally went to lie down on the bathroom floor at the birth center. Gross, I know, but the cold floor felt so good on my clammy body. I asked if it was normal for people to respond like that and was told, "No, not really," and I started crying. The nurse felt so bad for me that she personally called the next day to tell me my results. Turns out my numbers bottomed out into I think the 40s. She told me to make sure I always carried high protein snacks with me to prevent feeling like that. I was so stressed to take it the second time around with DD, but didn't have nearly as bad of an experience that time, thank goodness. I'm not looking forward to it again this time. I don't know why, but that test makes me so anxious.
  • @BusinessWife Yay that your appt went well!  And I love that you are sending out paper announcements, so classic!!  Share a pic once they come in!  We will announce on fb in a few weeks and send our paper announcements once baby girl arrives.

@lachnessmomster OMG, that sounds horrible.  I'm sorry the first time around was so traumatic!  Hopefully this time will be more like the last time, and even better.  When do they do the glucose test?

  • @ziggymama06 The glucose test happens at the beginning of the 3rd tri. Earlier if you are pre-diabetic or had GD in a prior pregnancy.
