  • @blaf322 my best friend is in Hawaii right now, and our best couples friends are in Jamiaca. Their snaps are killing me. The friends in Jamaica have a patio with a walk in pool connected to their room. We were invited to go on the Jamaica trip, but knew we would be trying to get pregnant, and I didn't  want to go somewhere big and not be able to drink 😂 I went to the virgin islands while pregnant and missed out on so much rum. And sorry about the puking/pissing. I did ok yesterday until the 4th time I was puking. Then I left a damn puddle of the floor. Not fun.

@mehugg showers in general can get tricky with too many planners. On the other hand, mybest friend offered (again) to throw me one and asked for ideas around where I live to have it about 3 weeks ago. I sent her 5/6 and she hasn't contacted any of them yet. I feel like this will not actually happen.

    @kittenslove I'm so sorry about your mom's progression. 😔

@kristinl492 yay for real movement! I'm so ready for that!

@stlbuckeye132 I'm excited you are finding out now! And your appointment really isn't that far away!
  • @footdrbritt I can’t believe someone filed a complaint for that. People are ridiculous!
  • DD/weeks+days: July 11, 18w2

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Croissant

    Upcoming appointments: 2/27 for AS

How are you feeling? Pretty good but shortness of breath is no joke. I’m fairly confident any nausea is gone so I’m going to try and start weaning myself off the unisom. Is there any reason to keep taking the b6 if I quit the unisom?

I’m also pretty confident I e been feeling the peanut move! It’s only when I lay on my back and really pay attention but there have definitely been a few sensations that seem like they could only be baby. Super fun!

Raves/Rants: We found a house we really liked EXCEPT the kitchen was too small. The house was perfect in every other way. Grrrrr. Fingers crossed the market opens up soon.

Questions: my unisom/b6 question above. Anyone comfy saying how much weight they’ve gained/lost to this point? I had a dr appt on Friday and I’ve gained a total of 8 lbs. she said I’m right on track but I  want to stay below 15-18 total since I’m overweight so having already gained 8 makes me nervous.

GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Mountains forever!! Ideally, we’d be in the mountains within driving distance of a beach but maybe that’s cheating. 😂
  • OH I remembered my question! What, if anything, are y'all doing to strengthen your core? As my belly is coming in I feel like I could do a better job building support muscles.
  • @b_1029 I just went to one on Friday. My advice is to just get a few things you love.... UNLESS you think you're going to have issues with people not getting you some of the bigger ticket items on your registry. In that case, look at the strollers and high chairs too...and, in that case, if they have an option to pay to go early, I would because the good big ticket items are mostly gone by the time it's time for free/general admission.

You're going to get a TON of clothes (my friend just had her 2nd and her daughter is clothed all the way through 12mo from gifts and such) and then after that, you aren't really going to know how she'll grow so I'd wait (again, unless you see something you just LOVE and are willing to spend on even if it ends up not working out.

Another good thing to look for, while you're there, is 2nd hand baby carriers. If you're interested, that's a good place to try one that would usually be pricier... so less risk in wasting the money on something you end up not loving
  • @mehugg that sounds like a logistical nightmare! I hope MIL can narrow it down to a few locations before this weekend!

@b_1029 I hope YH gets it together and does his share and your weekend isn't as bad as you think it will be.

    @mayisch congratulations on baby girl!!

@footdrbritt wooowwww people really are the worst.

@rachelredhead I think I've gained about 8 lb too. It sounds like you're at a very normal and healthy weight gain in my professional opinion!
  • @b_1029 I totally get the husband not doing a lot on the weekend rant. How come when my DH does dishes he only loads the dishwasher and leaves anything else in the sink. And how come he can't wipe the counters down and sweep? 🙄 Saturday he was ice fishing all day. And he managed to smoke ribs yesterday, but as for cleaning and being organized? He's the worst. Mo suggestions for the consignment sale, I've never been to one, but I hope you update us with what you get!

@footdrbritt wtf- they filed a complaint because YOU are on medical leave? F that.

@mayisch congrats on your little girl!

@rachelredhead I've lost 13 so far, at 17+4. My friend who is 22 weeks and works out constantly and is a pilates and aerial instructor has gained 20 so far. It is so different for every person. My good friend said she gained SO much with her first, and was down 30lbs the day she left the hospital compared to when she checked in. 😳

  • @modoodles you guys know my love for Jamaica. I'm jealous just hearing about it... but don't blame you for not going. Especially with the all inclusives, it's just not worth it.

@rachelredhead I lost something like 8-10lbs in the beginning and, have since, gained back 3 of those once I stopped losing from nausea. If you feel like you were eating more/more often to stave off nausea, I think your weight gain at this point is to be expected and you can expect it to slow some as you feel better and aren't having to eat to feel good. My good friend was like that with both of her pregnancies. So, she gained 10 within the first tri but then didn't really gain much more until 3rd when baby is growing quickly.
I think you know that I totally get where you're coming from (so I know this is easier said than done) but try not to be too hard on yourself. Eat as well as you can and as long as your doc isn't stressing about it, give yourself some grace while you're growing a human. This breakdown of how much everything weighs really helped me feel okay about any weight gain with my last pregnancy:

    • 7 1/2 pounds is about how much the baby will weigh by the end of pregnancy.
    • 1 1/2 pounds is how much the placenta weighs.
    • 4 pounds is attributed to increased fluid volume.
    • 2 pounds is the weight of the uterus.
    • 2 pounds is the weight of breast tissue.
    • 4 pounds is because of increased blood volume.
    • 7 pounds is attributed to maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients
    • 2 pounds for the amniotic fluid.
    • Total: 30 pounds
  • @blaf322 when you say things I love, do you mean like toys and stuff? It's going to be so hard not to go crazy with the clothes lol. My friend and I are going a day before it opens to the general public but I know vendors and stuff can shop earlier than that. Hopefully there are still some good, larger things left!
  • @bluguitarhannah aww, I'm so happy that your anatomy scan went well today! Hooray for a healthy baby girl!
  • @b_1029 I've had the chance to go to a couple of blowout consignment sales in our area.  I have cleaned up on clothes enough so that I'm done up to 6 months and have some 12 months.  I had finally picked out some larger items for the registry so had models in mind.  Without knowing some brands I wanted I would have been overwhelmed at the options and not known what was a good deal or not.
  • @b_1029 I meant clothes... but toys too. You're going to have soooo many toys. But, I totally get the feeling of wanting to buy all the fun stuff! Look at it this way, if getting this stuff makes you happy and you're not hard up for the money, get it. If you end up wasting some things, so what. Donate them to someone in need and you've done a good deed/helped out someone else  No harm, no foul there!

@bluguitarhannah yay for a good AS! So glad baby girl is looking healthy

@modoodles oh yea, I meant to mention.... I totally left a puddle on the floor and DH was definitely trying to hide his shock over the situation when I walked out of the bathroom and told him I needed a Lysol wipe to clean the floor with :D Pregnancy is so glamorous
  • @blaf322 DH is totally not surprised by it at this point. I just glared and told him his stupid penis made me puke until I pissed myself and all over the floor...again.. he said, "Sorry? But not sorry." 😂
  • @meanjellybean I think that's okay! I do that for several as well

  • @beckylookatherbump yeah, we sat in the car for 45 minutes discussing how we could make the kitchen work. Honestly, if it were me, it would be sufficient. But I married a chef. And I know kitchen space and flow is just important to him. And by the end of our chat I agreed it would be sad to move into a house and feel squeezed from the start. We’re spoiled by our current house, weirdly large kitchen for a small house. I’ve just got to hope that we’ll find something we both enjoy sooner rather than later! I will keep your pantry genius idea in mind though. That’s a great fix for a smaller space!
  • @bluguitarhannah yay for a great AS!

@meanjellybean that's so funny to me because I was totally expecting the "fish out of water" flopping feeling because that's what I felt with DD, but so far any time I think I've felt the baby (which hasn't been very often), it almost feels like baby is doing a full body roll or something. I know each pregnancy is different, but... this is weird.
  • @mhamik I hope you keep getting more and more good days. You are at the spot when overall I started to feel more human.

  • @Pascal86 my parents have a house on a lake not too far from us and I'm always soooo paranoid about DD falling in and us never being able to find her. It's a constant worry of mine so my anxiety is always so bad when we're talking about actually going out on the lake (vs just hanging at their dock).

The lake is a former gorge (so very deep) and there's a freakin WWII airplane that crashed in there. It's deep enough to hide an airplane. They couldn't find it for many years (until technology got better). If they couldn't find a plane, we'd never find DD.
  • EDD/weeks+days: July 7/18+6

    Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green!

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Cheese string today

Upcoming appointments: AS on Wednesday! How did that get here so fast?

How are you feeling? B+...headaches are more frequent, and I feel like I'm starting to waddle, but overall still pretty good.

Raves/Rants: I had such a bad headache/migraine yesterday that I could barely function. Luckily DH was able to manage and get DS out of the house for a few hours so I could rest. I'm feeling back to my normal self today, so I hope the intensity of it was just a fluke! I'm counting down the days to my AS though, and next Monday is a holiday!

    Questions: none

GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? I love the mountains, but I look out my office window and see them everyday. I miss the ocean, lakes, beaches, etc, so anytime we plan vacations I try to find somewhere with water to get my fill!
  • @beckylookatherbump I really loved living in TN but being away from the water (and fresh seafood!) was super tough for this Jersey/Massachusetts gal.

As for venues, we're looking at either restaurants with event rooms (easier but more expensive) or small event spaces where we'd need to bring in catering (less expensive, more work). We'll see how it goes 🤦 they just need to get on the phone and talk to each other but right now they're emailing every third or fourth day and are just not on the same page. We'll figure it out!
  • @mehugg @Pascal86 your comments are reminding me we need an in-laws thread at some point (or really just relatives in general, it's not always in-laws that produce the horror stories lol). I was reading one on another BMB out of boredom, and some of the stories were bananas.

  • @meanjellybean I am HERE for the crazy in-law thread! I love those. (Largely because it puts some of my IL problems into perspective and I realize maybe they're not the absolute worst out there.)
