@stlbuckeye132@footdrbritt I'm sorry about your terrible in-laws but now I'm super pumped for your stories lol. Maybe I'll get that thread up and running sooner rather than later...
@blaf322 omg that’s terrifying! Your daughter is nowhere near as big as an airplane (I assume). I really need to get DD1 in swim lessons so I can be slightly less freaked out all the time.
@meanjellybean yesssss to the in laws thread. Mine are super special.
@stlbuckeye132 I just sent that same GIF to my husband just because my sister said she wanted a business degree to work in HR. She's been fired or just not given notice for every job she's ever had. She posts the most insensitive things on FB, including this weekend "If you want something sugar coated, get a donut." And parties all the time. I dont see much of a future for her in HR.
Have any of your in-laws put a magazine on your pillow saying you are and your future children are going to hell. She stopped doing it in part b/c we stopped staying over but that's a true story. I'm liking the idea of IL or nutty relatives thread.
@blaf322 My not FFC is that I cannot swim still to this day. The lake would terrify me. I've taken lessons several times but still can really only dog paddle for a little while.
@Pascal86 we need to get DD in swim lessons too. I just didn't want to do the ones when they're really little because they're more focused on being comfortable with the water (which isn't an issue for her) and she would be so upset over having to do the lessons without me there. Now, she's older, does dance without us in the room (though, she's still not in love with the idea of it) and they're teaching more so we need to get with it.
@rachelredhead I got them in 4 days, they said it’d be within a week. Though I didn’t trust them entirely because they took so long with the first genetic testing, but they followed through this time.
Upcoming appointments: Next week-16 week check in and lab appt for bloodwork
How are you feeling? Not sure if it was my coffee this morning but actually feeling pretty normal!
Raves/Rants: No rants for now.. knock on wood! We announced to social media DD is going to be a big sister so it's been pretty fun getting all the love and congrats from friends. Also feeling some first flutters from baby when I'm in certain positions!
Questions: ..... I don't think so.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Beach! DD (5) and I are taking a mother-daughter vacation to FL in March! Can't wait for some warm weather and sunshine!
How are you feeling? Actually have felt great the past several days! First trimester was full of constant nausea and exhaustion, but it has gradually improved as I've moved into the second trimester. I have had a couple of monster headaches over the past couple of weeks, but outside of that I've been feeling awesome.
Raves/Rants: Rave: Hubs got me a prenatal massage for my birthday and I had it this past weekend and it was amazing!! Rant: I was bored by the Oscar's last night and annoyed that I stayed up the entire time to watch, but that was my own choice...
Questions: So, my brother and (future) sis-in-law have offered to throw us a baby shower at their new house in May, which is about 4 hours away. Hubs and I are both excited about that, as we lived there for many years and have tons of friends and family that will want to attend. We haven't lived in our current town for that long so we don't have a lot of friends here. However, his parents and brother live nearby to us now...and his mom was sort of asking some questions about the shower, and I mentioned my brother offered to have one but we don't have plans yet to have one around here. She seemed a little put off by that, maybe because it's quite a drive...should I feel bad? These shower things are so tricky!! I almost think if she is annoyed about the drive, maybe she could offer plan something more local then? IDK. Just curious about other opinions
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? BEACH
@mamasoup77 If she's put off I think she can make the local offer. We are going back to my hometown for ours. My Mom and brother et al would drive 11 hours for it or fly several hours and we all still live in Texas. However, they get that most of the people who want to shower us live there. We are also really new to our current area. I lived 30-minutes from here 10 years ago but otherwise, it's just a place we moved to for work.
I agree with you that the shower dynamics are tricky.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out very soon
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: My fun fact is that after the 2nd baby you don’t keep track. I actually had to look up how many weeks I was.
Upcoming appointments: 2/26 I have A/S and regular appointment.
How are you feeling? Still feel like trash. Sleeping horrible, mostly because for 2 solid weeks I’ve been cleaning up puke and poop for 3 kids. It’s been the stomach virus from hell and I’m pretty sure it’s hitting me now which sucks.
Raves/Rants: Going to Disney in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to my kids enjoying that.
Questions:
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Mountains 100%
@rachstar18 yes! It's so hard to keep track of stuff with the second! I'm doing okay with how many weeks, for the most part. But I bet that gets worse after the AS because I won't really be counting down to a scan anytime soon lol. I always have to look up size lol
Upcoming appointments: bloodwork next week. AS 3/10
How are you feeling? Overall better. Headaches daily though which is a major bummer.
Raves/Rants:
Questions: Have other people had problems with like consistent daily headaches?
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? This is tough. Because depending on how I feel I love all these things. I, luckily, grew up with a friend who had a nice lake cabin (in the mountain/woodsy setting) and that’s my favorite place of all time. We go backpacking on that lake yearly as well. And hiking/camping in the woods is my favorite outdoor thing. But there’s nothing like the warm sun at the beach as well. We went to Hawaii last May and spent an entire afternoon drinking out of water bottles sitting on the beach, in the shade because I have crazy skin reactions to too much sun. And I hate being too hot 😂
@bluguitarhannah yikes!! That's a lot. Sort of similar story from my aunt. my grandparents were super Catholic and my aunt (their daughter, my dad's sister) eloped instead of having a Catholic Mass wedding. Then when she and my uncle had kids, they didn't get them baptized. He "jokingly" called my cousins No Name 1 and No Name 2 and said they were going to hell.....I'm 75% sure he wasn't 100% serious.....but other than that my aunt had a lovely relationship with my grandparents. Families, so fun all the time!
@nursejenn5 I am having daily headaches still but not as bad. I added the magnesium and I'm doing a daily dose of aspirin free excedrin. The magnesium did seem to lower the intensity of the headaches pretty noticeably.
I promise I read everything you guys wrote and love titted! I just don't think I can tag everyone.

Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Naval Orange
Upcoming appointments: OB Appointment March 3. I need to call and schedule my Anatomy Scan for the second week of March.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Can still take some amazing naps on the weekends. Starting not to feel like I'm going to fall over after the work day. So that's a plus. Still sneezing a lot and peeing my pants like 75% of the time I sneeze. Permanent panty liner wearer over here. I think I've started feeling some movement too! yay!
Raves/Rants: My parents have DS for a few days while our babysitter is super sick. It has been so nice to have 2 evenings where I could just chill and not have to worry about a bedtime routine. But I do miss him.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Definitely the Beach. We try to go to the Outer Banks of NC every year since we love it so much. I do love the Mountains too, having now grown up anywhere near them.
Upcoming appointments: tomorrow with ob- yay! 2/19 for AS
How are you feeling? Overwhelmed. I’m trying to finish work in our bedroom so we can get going on the nursery, my job is bananas lately and I’m doing my MBA online because higher ed is snobby and doesn’t count my masters in publishing as enough education related.
Raves/Rants: rave- my bff is going through IVF and despite her struggles, she is here for me 100000%
Questions: Am I totally paranoid about not feeling movement yet? Baby Yoda (we still can’t settle on a real name) is my first so I second guess everything.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Beach all the way! I too love Jamaica and am super jealous of anyone there. I’m a total sun worshipper and definitely get seasonal depression living in cold PA.
Kudos to all the replies and tags! I just got caught up on all them and have to say that I’m so sorry for all the puke+peeing. And my MIL is a nightmare but my sister lately is absolutely vile. Hopping to the relatives/in laws thread next!
How are you feeling? Pretty good although my feet are starting to swell and I'm in an all day conference tomorrow/was in it today and yesterday after flying in and I'm a bit stiff
Raves/Rants: Rave - The conference is actually pretty great, I've had some work issues and it's been rejuvenating to be with like minded folks
Questions: No specific ones but I'd love for our product recs to live on a shared google sheet, I need to start adding the harder stuff to our registry soon.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Mountains mostly because H has family with a house in the mountains that is also on a lake.
@rjk0427 it's totally different for everyone when they first feel movement! I wouldn't worry about it at all. 18 weeks is still early. I have felt movement much earlier this time around than with DD and could likely be because I just know what to look for. It's not obvious and I still question if it's just gas half the time!
@pocketrose there's a google sheet with links to all the product rec threads each week. If you're wanting a list in a google doc, feel free to create it!
@rjk0427 I didn't feel any movement at all until 20w with my first. So not feeling anything at 18w is normal
@JessDG we love OBX too! DH lived and worked there one summer and so it has a special place in his heart. We were looking to take a week there this summer but opted for a long weekend in HHI instead since some friends we wanted to join weren't able and b/c my PTO is so limited. Hope y'all are able to make it out there this year!
@rachstar18@blaf322@footdrbritt I feel like I'm doing pretty well remembering how many weeks, but @blaf322 I think you're right that after the AS it's really just a slog towards delivery and I can see myself losing track. I have found that after I turned 30 and had a kid, if someone asks me how old I am, I really have to think about it. Like you're used to people asking how old your kid(s) is but when someone asks me I'm like "31... wait, no... 32... wait..."
ETA- the goal was to hit the really important things well before anyone would be having babies.... and, hopefully, in time to make it onto registries. If there are any organizational changes you'd like to suggest, let me know!

@b_1029 Have a rough idea of what you want/need before you go, and how much you want to spend. People can be all over the place with pricing. It also partly depends on how much you think you will get from friends and family - if you think you're going to need to get some big items yourself, you can get good deals. @rachelredhead At my last appointment, at 13-1/2 weeks, I'd gained 8 lb from my starting weight. My OB uses weight from the first appointment, though (which is dumb IMO) so I'd "officially" only gained 4. I tend to gain early on and then slow way down - it's a different pattern for everyone! My OB acts like people should gain consistently and evenly throughout a pregnancy, but from what I've heard and read from others, it's totally normal to gain in a non-consistent pattern.

@footdrbritt ugh thats frustrating that someone filed a complaint against you! like, youre pregnant and on bed rest....you think people would understand
@rachelredhead yay for feeling baby moving! and bummer about the house. FX that something perfect comes up soon for you. i've stayed weight neutral/lost a little at this point in my pregnancy, but im obese and that was what my OB recommended.
@mamasoup77 baby showers with out of town relatives is so hard! both my parents and my ILs live across the country from us. and as far as friends, i've lived in various places in my state so im not sure where to plan it. do i do it where i currently live and let those that are farther away come to me? or do i use my aunts house thats like 40 mins away and make people that live near me drive that far? its a tough decision!
@rachstar18 so jealous about your disney trip!! i love disney!
@JessDG im sneezing all the time too! wtf! its awful for my bladder haha
@rjk0427 im not feeling movement yet either, and it freaks me out, so i totally understand haha. soon we will be there!

How are you feeling? doing okay! i bumped my bump over the weekend so i went into the OBs office to make sure baby and everything was okay with my clumsiness and my BP was really high. but, i have really big arms and the automatic BP cuffs usually dont read well with the size of my arms, so im wondering if it really was that high or if it was just a read error. either way, they did a full preeclampsia panel of BW and UA and want me to track my BP at home at least twice a week. so FX i can keep the preeclampsia away! but it did give us a chance to see baby girl in an US yesterday and she was so cute and moving around and wiggling, such a sweetie!
Raves/Rants: DH and I leave friday to go to AZ to see his grandparents and have a family reunion for his moms side of the family, and i realllllllllly struggle with my MIL and her family. they are just really difficult and negative and i really dont want the pregnancy and baby questions to come up. like, we told his grandma on the phone this week that we are expecting because we didnt want it to be a huge thing at the reunion, and she was like "you couldve told me sooner" umm we didnt want to. so im praying its not a terrible weekend and that my stress (and BP) levels can stay at minimum.
Questions: none right now.....
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? um can i say Disneyland? or Scotland? hahaha. i guess id have to say mountains because water freaks me out...gators and sharks are so scary lol. but strolls alongside a lake/river/beach are fun, haha. im also a ginger and really pale so usually beaches = sunburns for me, regardless of how much sunscreen i use.

@knockupthestock first of all, the tags. You are my queen and I bow down.
Second, feel free to come join us on the in-laws thread! It's been reeeeally cathartic haha. (You may already be there, I haven't made my way over there yet today)
@knockupthestock DH and I are tentatively planning an England/Scotland road trip with the kiddo next summer. Baby’s first passport stamp! I’ve only been to Edinburgh in Scotland and I sooooo want to explore more. And my DH has only been to London so I’m excited for him to see more of the countryside.
@knockupthestock ask they about the size of cuff. We have nurses that try to use the same cuff for all patients and they don’t work like that! If they don’t have a bigger sized cuff, at least for us, our anesthesia team tells us that it is accurate to take the BP with a normal sized cuff on the forearm if the upper arm isn’t the right size.
Too small of BP cuffs will read high! I hate people trying to treat BP problems off inaccurate readings due to user error especially. It’s unnecessary.
To those of us who haven't been sure about feeling movement yet, here's something random to try lol. DH and I were laying in bed this morning after our alarm went off and avoiding getting up, and I was lying on my side kind of with my belly pressed against his leg/hip, and I felt CRAZY amounts of unmistakable movement. Maybe it was just good timing, but that's the only time I've been able to pinpoint it!

@b_1029 Have a rough idea of what you want/need before you go, and how much you want to spend. People can be all over the place with pricing. @kristinl492 yay for feeling movement!!!
@b_1029 i hope this weekend is better than you expect!! and booo to YH for not helping clean the basement, haha
@mayisch welcome to team pink!!!
@pocketrose i agree that the individual products recs in a google sheet would be super helpful....not sure who wants to take that on though hahaha
@treeofcheem hope your cold feels better soon!
@eljames83 have fun with your parents!
