Reminder: We've decided to give full group check ins a try this week. If we find it's overwhelming or just not loved by the greater group, we can adjust to two check ins or back to 4 groups

EDD/weeks+days:Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Upcoming appointments: How are you feeling? Raves/Rants: Questions: GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
Re: J20 Weekly Check In 2/10/20
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact:
Baby is the size of a Hersheys Bar.. funny because that's what I just had for breakfast 😂
Upcoming appointments:
2/21/2020- regular visit and anatomy scan!
How are you feeling? Meh, more energy lately but yesterday was rough. I clearly cannot stop the unisom anytime soon. Also, I have a super painful are on my back- right side, just below my ribcage. It is SO painful to the touch- no idea what happened but it has been 2 days of torture!
Raves/Rants: My kiddo is home sick today. I sent a vomiting/fever kiddo home early bbn on Thursday, he was at a wrestling tournament yesterday, but last night the mom texted me to tell me he was still running a temp all weekend and last night. THEN WHY DID YOU TAKE HIM TO THE TOURNAMENT TO GET EVERYONE ELSE SICK?! Both parents were at the tournament, so one could have easily stayed home with him. It makes me so mad.
Questions: not really, the lack of movement I've felt is making me wonder if maybe I have an anterior placenta. I need to remember to ask that at my next visit.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Beach! Or Lake! I just want to have bare shoulders and feel the sun hitting them. I want it hot. That's all I require.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: hot dog lol
Upcoming appointments: AS next Monday... first thing in the AM!
How are you feeling? really good! I'm trying to wean myself off of Unisom (went from using it for nausea to being dependent on it for falling asleep). I took some last night b/c I was actually feeling nauseous. But the plan is to totally come off of it sometime soon.
Raves/Rants: Rave: DH is amazing and fixed DD's playhouse that was destroyed in the hurricane. He's the best at fixing, literally, anything!
Rant: I ate a small pack of gummy bear things yesterday and my stomach hurt the whole day. Finally went to eat dinner and was like, "NOPE!" after only a few bites. Thew up so hard I pissed my pants.... so that was fun
Questions: none here!
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? I used to be 100% team lake b/c, irrational fear of sharks and I hate having sand everywhere.... but now I think I'm team beach. I love getting a beach chair to sit in as the waves roll in at my feet all day.
But if pool were an option, team pool for life! lol
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: pomegranate, baby's cartilage is ossifying into bones!
Upcoming appointments: AS in 2 weeks
How are you feeling? Good overall, tired today but I think it's just because I stayed up late for the Oscars
Raves/Rants: something of a rant- so my in-laws are local and my parents are 6 hours away driving. My parents are coming up this weekend to scope out locations for our baby shower, and my mom is the main decision-maker here, but my MIL is driving on looking up locations because she knows the area. They are not communicating well and I'm in an awkward middle position hearing from my MIL about the two dozen+ (!!) places she's contacted but my mom only wants to see 2 or 3 places when she comes up. And my FIL is trying to be helpful by throwing out ideas of places he thinks DH and I will think are "cool" but they're total non-starters based on my mom's criteria and it's too many cooks in the kitchen at this point. They don't want me to be involved much in the planning but I've landed in this uncomfortable broker in the middle....it'll all be sorted out this weekend and I can't wait agh.
Questions: oh I actually had one the other day and if course I can't remember now. Shoot.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Beach for sure. My mom grew up in the shore and will never live more than an hours drive from the beach. She misses really being there so much that all of our vacations growing up were beach vacations. My ideal vacation is my family in a house right on the beach just hanging out. Proximity to water was a major thing I missed when we lived in TN! I'm hoping to get to the beach a bit before bb arrives (if it's not too intolerably hot haha)
@modoodles so sorry to hear about your sick kids wtf to that parent?? I'm with you there!
@blaf322. Oh nooo sorry about the gummy bear betrayal! I hope you're feeling better today.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: not sure yet. I have an envelope with the gender but we haven’t looked. I think I’ll decide at the anatomy scan.
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: NES classic controller
Upcoming appointments: Thursday for normal OB and 19th for anatomy scan
How are you feeling? Stressed, but that’s just where I am in my life.
Raves/Rants: rant: last week was hard. Mom hated physical therapy and insisted on leaving rehab. Couldn’t get it together for a Friday discharge so planned to bring her home today. Saturday she ended up back into he ER and admitted to ICU. I feel like this is disease progression. Still haven’t told anyone I’m expecting, which feel weird. I joked with my husband we should wait till April 1 and tell everyone, so they won’t know if we’re serious or not.
rave: I have been feeling baby move. I wasn’t sure at first, but I’m pretty positive now. Love this feeling.
Questions: anyone else having to choose between c-section or vbac? I’ve had both but with my vbac they had to use forceps. Dr is supportive either way because with my history the risks/benefits are pretty equal. I was all about vbac at first, but as I’m remembering my recovery I’m debating csection. My fear is the lifting requirements, if moms still with us I’m not sure I’ll be able to help her up and down.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
beach 99% of the time. But I loved our lake house (we sold) and I’m a huge fan of skiing. But there’s something about the ocean that I find calming.
EDD/weeks+days: 16+2 7/25
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Avocado? Idk, I’m reaching the point of not remembering anything
Upcoming appointments: OB appt at end of the month. I need to go get my blood drawn this week for the spina bifida screening though.
How are you feeling? Nausea is like 98% gone. Energy levels are on the rise but they crash HARD every day around 2:00pm. I forgot about the weird symptom of having sore leg muscles when I haven’t worked out my legs. I had this with DS and if I remember correctly, it has to do with the fact that your body is shifting the way the muscles work and support you since your core is now busy expanding to fit a human. My calves kill me every time I walk up/down stairs.
Raves/Rants: Just really excited that I was able to brush my teeth at least one morning this week! And also for feeling real, legit movements. Not that tickling, fluttery crap.
Questions: Never when it’s asked of me
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
Beach, 100%. Lakes gross me out and I’m cool with mountains, but I prefer the beach.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: officially finding out now!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: croissant... yum
Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan 2/24
How are you feeling? overall pretty good
Raves/Rants: rant: word is spreading amongst my pure barre clients... mostly fine but some of them are just really annoying and nosy and I don't want to talk to them about it. rave: i'm finally embracing my maternity work clothes, and it's actually super nice to feel like I have a whole new (but actually old) wardrobe!
Questions: nothing right now
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Give me the mountains! They're so beautiful, and I love going on hikes in them.
@modoodles I've been wondering about an anterior placenta too. I almost want to have one just because it would explain why I've felt barely anything. What I have felt (just in the last week or so) has also felt drastically different than the early movement I felt with DD.
@blaf322 ugh, sorry the gummy bears didn't agree with you. I peed myself while puking not that long ago, so I sympathize with you on that!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: pink
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: pomegranate/pop tart (I've never seen/had a pomegranate but there seems to be a discrepancy here to me lol). Apparently her finger/toe nails are coming in. Exciting!
Upcoming appointments: AS 3/2
How are you feeling? crappy today after a weekend of eating like trash. Otherwise fine with the usual Monday tiredness
Raves/Rants: I was all excited that DH suggested organizing/cleaning the basement over the weekend - honestly it's mostly his stuff that needs to be gone through because I've already done mine from my apartment several times - and then he did literally. nothing. all. weekend. Saturday I gave him a pass because of all the exciting college basketball games on but it's truly shocking how he somehow always feels nauseous on Sundays and can't do anything. My birth father and his family are coming this weekend and I'm 0% excited about it, especially since DH will be gone for work so it'll just be me and them. WOOOOO. I'm sure if I try really hard, I can think of a rave
Questions: has anyone ever been to a kids consignment sale and have advice on what types of items to look for? I'm excited but scared for how overwhelming it'll be
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? ooo this is a good one. It really depends on what kind of vacation I want...mountains if I want to be active, beach or lake if I'm feeling lazy. I would probably choose the beach over a lake if I actually want to get in the water though, for some reason lakes freak me out.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I just found out on Saturday!!.. Team Pink
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Sweet potato
Upcoming appointments: March 6
How are you feeling? like a roller coaster, sometimes with a lot of energy, sometimes I feel I can barely walk....
Raves/Rants: I can barely recognize DH, with my first he wasn't so helpful, now he is like "I've got this, your job now is to keep that baby healthy and growing, go rest"... he does help around the house, but seriously, who's that guy....
Questions: none
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? I think I'll go with lake...
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green still! I think I’ll decide at my AS what I want to do officially
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: I think it said string cheese today?
Upcoming appointments: AS 18th, f/u TBD because my OB has no appointments (military medicine at its finest) BUT I finally got my care transferred to the major medical center downtown since I’m high risk and that’s the 25th. *deep breath*
How are you feeling? Ehhh, modified bed rest sucks. I literally had someone file a complaint against me because I can’t do their surgery anymore, and it’s a complex one so not many people will/can do it. 🤷🏻♀️
Raves/Rants: see above. People suck.
Questions: @k@kittenslove me—same questions here about the VBAC / c section route. Maybe we should start a thread? I have to wait to see what the new OB says, my current ones were fine with a VBAC, but I think going to a major medical center they might not be so willing...
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
beach with mountains, specially Kauai, Hawaii on Poipu beach...or Tunnels.
@mehugg showers in general can get tricky with too many planners. On the other hand, mybest friend offered (again) to throw me one and asked for ideas around where I live to have it about 3 weeks ago. I sent her 5/6 and she hasn't contacted any of them yet. I feel like this will not actually happen.
@kittenslove I'm so sorry about your mom's progression. 😔
@kristinl492 yay for real movement! I'm so ready for that!
@stlbuckeye132 I'm excited you are finding out now! And your appointment really isn't that far away!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Croissant
Upcoming appointments: 2/27 for AS
How are you feeling? Pretty good but shortness of breath is no joke. I’m fairly confident any nausea is gone so I’m going to try and start weaning myself off the unisom. Is there any reason to keep taking the b6 if I quit the unisom?
Raves/Rants: We found a house we really liked EXCEPT the kitchen was too small. The house was perfect in every other way. Grrrrr. Fingers crossed the market opens up soon.
Questions: my unisom/b6 question above. Anyone comfy saying how much weight they’ve gained/lost to this point? I had a dr appt on Friday and I’ve gained a total of 8 lbs. she said I’m right on track but I want to stay below 15-18 total since I’m overweight so having already gained 8 makes me nervous.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Mountains forever!! Ideally, we’d be in the mountains within driving distance of a beach but maybe that’s cheating. 😂
You're going to get a TON of clothes (my friend just had her 2nd and her daughter is clothed all the way through 12mo from gifts and such) and then after that, you aren't really going to know how she'll grow so I'd wait (again, unless you see something you just LOVE and are willing to spend on even if it ends up not working out.
Another good thing to look for, while you're there, is 2nd hand baby carriers. If you're interested, that's a good place to try one that would usually be pricier... so less risk in wasting the money on something you end up not loving
@b_1029 I hope YH gets it together and does his share and your weekend isn't as bad as you think it will be.
@mayisch congratulations on baby girl!!
@footdrbritt wooowwww people really are the worst.
@rachelredhead I think I've gained about 8 lb too. It sounds like you're at a very normal and healthy weight gain in my professional opinion!
@footdrbritt wtf- they filed a complaint because YOU are on medical leave? F that.
@mayisch congrats on your little girl!
@rachelredhead I've lost 13 so far, at 17+4. My friend who is 22 weeks and works out constantly and is a pilates and aerial instructor has gained 20 so far. It is so different for every person. My good friend said she gained SO much with her first, and was down 30lbs the day she left the hospital compared to when she checked in. 😳
@rachelredhead I lost something like 8-10lbs in the beginning and, have since, gained back 3 of those once I stopped losing from nausea. If you feel like you were eating more/more often to stave off nausea, I think your weight gain at this point is to be expected and you can expect it to slow some as you feel better and aren't having to eat to feel good. My good friend was like that with both of her pregnancies. So, she gained 10 within the first tri but then didn't really gain much more until 3rd when baby is growing quickly.
I think you know that I totally get where you're coming from (so I know this is easier said than done) but try not to be too hard on yourself. Eat as well as you can and as long as your doc isn't stressing about it, give yourself some grace while you're growing a human. This breakdown of how much everything weighs really helped me feel okay about any weight gain with my last pregnancy:
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Pink
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: sweet potato
Upcoming appointments: I had my anatomy scan this morning. All was good. She's measuring almost a week ahead. I see the OB Thursday. I liked the advanced fetal specialist OB and I'll start seeing her once a month in addition to the OB. They are adding a low dose aspirin daily. It was reassuring to see the heartbeat and actual heart pumping. She was tucked in pretty tight but still wiggling so the photographs they tried to get for me weren't great.
How are you feeling? No major complaints. I'm getting a little antsy about my weight gain accelerating. I probably need to tune into my daily intake again.
Raves/Rants: The construction and parking situation at our building at work is just getting absurd. They added parking spots over the weekend but the barricades weren't down by the time we all started arriving.
Questions:
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? Mountains would be my first choice.
@blaf322 is it weird to say that I could go for a hot dog right now? That's so awesome that YH fixed the playhouse - can he come tell my H to do sh*t on the weekends? lol. So sorry about all the belly issues yesterday
@mehugg TWO DOZEN holy moly. I'm sorry they aren't really seeing eye to eye on something that's supposed to be a celebration of you and your baby! I assumed that ended after all the wedding planning but I guess not. I think we'll be having two showers like we did for the wedding because my family is all 5-6 hours away and it's just easier (and smaller, thank god) that way. Hopefully everyone is able to reach an agreement this weekend and you're able to get through it relatively stress-free!
@kittenslove I'm sorry to hear about your mom
@kristinl492 yay for nausea being mostly gone and feeling movement!
@stlbuckeye132 I can't wait to hear what you're having! That's annoying about the nosy clients.
@mayisch your H needs to have a talk with mine lol. That's awesome he's being so helpful!
@footdrbritt ugh so annoying about the complaint, I'm sorry. Like what are you supposed to do?!?!
@rachelredhead so excited you're feeling baby move! I'm glad your nausea is disappearing too! Hopefully you guys are able to find a house you love that checks all the boxes soon. I haven't weighed myself this week but as of last week I'm up like 8-10#. I didn't regularly weigh myself before getting pregnant so my starting weight is just a guesstimate.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blie
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Avocado
Upcoming appointments: my anatomy scan isn’t until March 12th
How are you feeling? Still a lot of nausea and starting to get headaches
Raves/Rants: I think maybe I’m starting to feel better lol. Rants is I’m in exams right now and have like the worst week coming up.
Questions: nope
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
im originally from Florida so I think we are hard wired to love the beach.
@kristinl492 brushing your teeth is a huge accomplishment in my book!
@bluguitarhannah yay for a good AS! So glad baby girl is looking healthy
@modoodles oh yea, I meant to mention.... I totally left a puddle on the floor and DH was definitely trying to hide his shock over the situation when I walked out of the bathroom and told him I needed a Lysol wipe to clean the floor with
Now, the OR part kills me and makes me sad, but seriously do you want your surgeon going into pre term labor or passing out during your case? All the meds are a logistical nightmare and I’m having what seems like all the side effects. I get that my patients want me to do their surgery and all; but it’s a safety issue.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out at AS
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: almost an artichoke? Now I want some marinated artichokes.
Upcoming appointments: AS on March 3rd. Reg OB the next day.
How are you feeling? Pretty good, just still a little more tired than normal. I finally felt good enough to go out for a long walk yesterday. It was great to get some Vitamin D and fresh air but today I feel like I ran a marathon. My body is like wtf don't you know you're supposed to be on the couch??
Raves/Rants: Still not feeling much movement, and when I think I do, it's more the "fish flopping" sensation that is totally different than with DD, so I can't even be sure that it's the baby. It's kind of weird to have such a belly out there already but not really be feeling movement.
Questions: none right now, I did post one for STM+'s on that thread though.
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? This is so tough! I think I have to go with mountains because they are so beautiful. We live not too far from the beach so we do that more often and there's nothing like a relaxing beach day (at least before we had DD).
@meanjellybean that's so funny to me because I was totally expecting the "fish out of water" flopping feeling because that's what I felt with DD, but so far any time I think I've felt the baby (which hasn't been very often), it almost feels like baby is doing a full body roll or something. I know each pregnancy is different, but... this is weird.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: FO 3 weeks from today!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: avacado
Upcoming appointments: Next Friday, I’m right between my last one and next. But I did just get results for the spins bifida test - low risk 😊, which I’m hugely relieved about since I’m on medication now that can inhibit folic acid absorption so I was getting really paranoid about spina bifida, despite having blood tests showing no folic acid deficiencies.
How are you feeling? Pretty good, but my full energy definitely isn’t back yet. I feel fine a lot of the time, but still have days where I feel totally useless.
Raves/Rants: Really wish I was working out more. I worked out so much last pregnancy, and it helped a ton in my recovery. I’ve just felt zero motivation!
Questions: none today
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? I love a good running trail on a mountain. Snow stuff isn’t really my thing, though. Beaches freak me out now that I have kids - I think lakes will be a lot of fun once they can all swim and I’m not paranoid about them drowning or something.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team finding out
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Lightbulb
Upcoming appointments: a week from tomorrow for 16 week
How are you feeling? I have some good days which is a vast improvement from the last 14 weeks.
Raves/Rants: Monday boo. So tired!
Questions: None really
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination?
this is tough, what about a lake with mountains?
The lake is a former gorge (so very deep) and there's a freakin WWII airplane that crashed in there. It's deep enough to hide an airplane. They couldn't find it for many years (until technology got better). If they couldn't find a plane, we'd never find DD.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Cheese string today
Upcoming appointments: AS on Wednesday! How did that get here so fast?
How are you feeling? B+...headaches are more frequent, and I feel like I'm starting to waddle, but overall still pretty good.
Raves/Rants: I had such a bad headache/migraine yesterday that I could barely function. Luckily DH was able to manage and get DS out of the house for a few hours so I could rest. I'm feeling back to my normal self today, so I hope the intensity of it was just a fluke! I'm counting down the days to my AS though, and next Monday is a holiday!
Questions: none
GTKY- Beach, Lake, or Mountains.... what's your preferred vacation destination? I love the mountains, but I look out my office window and see them everyday. I miss the ocean, lakes, beaches, etc, so anytime we plan vacations I try to find somewhere with water to get my fill!
As for venues, we're looking at either restaurants with event rooms (easier but more expensive) or small event spaces where we'd need to bring in catering (less expensive, more work). We'll see how it goes 🤦 they just need to get on the phone and talk to each other but right now they're emailing every third or fourth day and are just not on the same page. We'll figure it out!
‘Why do you tell everyone I am on crack. I only did crack once...once...and f**k that’
