@nursejenn5 I forgot about full moons. I'm not 100%, but I gotta admit there is usually a strong correlation between full moons and the kids (students) being psychoooooo.
Head's up... I feel like my OB said the test had to be done between 16-18 weeks (or something like that) so you may be stuck with amnio only if something looks off at the AS. I could be remembering incorrectly though, so if that impacts your decision at all, ask someone who actually really knows something lol
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: game console controller
Upcoming appointments: Friday, I am so anxious to finding out if its blue or pink team
How are you feeling? Nausea is less common but I am still dealing with it... pelvic discomfort...
Raves/Rants: Petechiae all over my face really makes me sad, can't wait until vomiting is no longer an issue
Questions: not for the moment
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? not really... but I am really having second thought on that Rabbit Rabbit also, in my country people are very superstitious, black cats, ladders, salt, breaking mirrors. So let me share some of them with you:
During pregnancy, you would need to wear a safety pin in your blouse just above your belly button, if not your baby can have some health issues, you are not allowed to cut your hair (can remember why), can't watch an eclipse.
After delivering you need to have cotton balls in your ears or you could have serious headaches later (I did wore them after my first baby), wear socks all 40 days after (no matter if its hot) and a light sweater otherwise your milk production will drop.
I only did the cotton balls and socks for 1 week (DS was born on Oct).
@meanjellybean@blaf322 my OB told me I COULD still have the test done if my AS showed something weird. My AS is scheduled for 20 weeks, so I know it goes through at least that point. I'm not sure what the cutoff is - I don't think she told me.
@mehugg all of your team green reasons are the same that I had with my first, and I never wavered in that decision with that pregnancy! But now that we have all the gender neutral items already... I sort of want to know! Ack. Honestly, I think we'll find out at the AS b/c I know MH will go along with whatever I want. (I do feel bad though because he'd rather wait.)
@mayisch socks and a sweater in July? Count me out!
@blaf322@stlbuckeye132 yeah the midwife told me the same this morning and I'm 17 weeks tomorrow, anatomy scan scheduled for 20 weeks. We will see what happens.
And I am welcoming all of you previous team green-ers over to the dark side... team green with DD, now team AS... don't you just want to KNOW??
@blaf322 it does suck, but the good news is that this doesn’t happen to us much anymore... can’t remember the last time it was an issue actually, which really makes me happy. We had a lot of growing pains for a long time, but have learned to bend to each other’s needs a lot more.
I also never consider the fact that one of us might spontaneously die in the night, so I think it’s still probably better for us to just stop talking and go to bed ASAP in these situations! I totally get that being on your mind wi5 your grandma though, that’s so hard. I’m glad he prioritizes that need for you.
@stlbuckeye132 I already told my mom I ain't doing that.... on July we hit the 117 degrees.... I mean I know for sure I am not getting cold not even if I am naked....
food for thought for team green people. My coworker and her husband are team green (she's 28+ weeks) at the AS her husband was trying to sneakily find out the gender, kept asking certain questions etc, even though previously saying he didn't want to find out. My coworker just kept hushing him and reminding the tech then the doc that they didn't want to know. They left the office and her H was like "i just felt like we needed to know so kept pushing". But then later that night he was SO grateful that they didn't find out and stuck to the original plan. But it also depends probably on your reasoning for not wanting to know. but I also know nothing because H and I are total team finding out
@kristinl492 I have a weird thing with stairs at my mom’s house where I grew up - but only there! I had a pet rat when I was a kid that pooped on a stair once, and even though we cleaned it right away, I would never step on it again. I still don’t - and I skip stairs up until I get past that one. And if I accidentally stepped on it, I had to stomp three times at the top/bottom of the stairs to get the rat poop germs off. The best part is that as a kid, I would also explain this to all of my friends that came over, and wouldn’t let them step on that step either.
Anyway, I don’t count that as a superstition, but if we get into weird and nonsensical rituals that make me sound like a crazy person... I have a lot of those! Mostly rooted in fairly OCD behavior from my childhood.
@nursejenn5 that's pretty funny. It IS pretty weird to be team green during the AS because you can't watch a certain portion of it. They either tell you not to look or they turn the screen off so you can't see anything below a certain point. And it's so strange to be like "we could find out right now" and then not. I remember after the tech had done the portion we couldn't watch, my husband asked her "so, you know what it is?' And she was just like "yep." Later he was like isn't it weird that some random lady knows the sex but we won't know for months? We are still so glad we waited though.
Double post but also it was fun being team green with our first because my two best friends were pregnant at the same time (one had her baby a month and a half before me and the other had hers the day after me - couldn't have planned it if we tried lol) and we were ALL team green, and it was cool finding out along with them.
@nursejenn5 oh I would never just decide to change my mind at the AS. It's definitely something I plan on discussing with MH (tonight, actually). I would've been so annoyed with MH if he'd tried to pull that at the AS haha
@meanjellybean our US tech just completely avoided that area at ours! We never had to turn away or anything, and she told us she didn't know either. (It's possible she lied to us I suppose...)
@blaf322 soooo funny story, I really have NO idea if my leave was officially approved. I never heard, no MPs are at my door, and all my direct supervisors knew and told me GTFO, they would cover for me. So ignorance is bliss at this point
@footdrbritt good!! I'm glad your direct supervisors weren't being ass hats like the other folks. You should be allowed to follow your doctor's orders!!
I loved being team green with my first and never once considered finding out. This time I have thought about it a time or two, but I'm just thinking if I found out by accident I would be devastated so I guess I remain team green. My husband who was iffy about being team green the first time around loved the surprise so much he is the diehard team green member this time. My SIL just had a baby and she was team green as well (she had a girl). We're driving my MIL crazy -she's an intense shopper and having a hard time buying gender neutral stuff hah.
@meanjellybean I’m an US tech and I’ve definitely thought before how funny it is that I know the sex of this random lady’s baby before she does. Generally, if people don’t wanna know, I try to not even look because I don’t want to slip. Or I’ll look at the very end lol.
@Pascal86 I am 15 weeks as well with #3 and I’m not feeling a whole lot either. I mean at night sometimes I’ll think surely that isn’t the baby because they’ll seem so strong but most the time nothing unless I put a little pressure with my hand there. I can’t wait until it’s more often because it will help with me thinking something is wrong all the time!
EDD/weeks+days: 15 weeks
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Orange
Upcoming appointments: I finally have one tomorrow. It’s felt like forever since 10 weeks!
How are you feeling? Just sore and having trouble sleeping. I’m finding it harder to sleep this time but I’m at least getting some more energy back despite the lack of sleep. I feel like I’m already starting to nest which seems crazy at 15 weeks but I remember nesting early with our second too and was thankful because I was not in the organizing mood later on lol
Raves/Rants: my in laws got us the sleeper I was really wanting that goes right on the side of the bed and it showed up today which was exciting and my mom offered to get sheets for the crib and those are coming today as well. I’m pretty sure the girls think their sister is coming any day but we still have a ways to go... I thought this time would go so quick and it’s definitely not!
Questions:
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? no not really although I do sometimes knock on wood if I say something and don’t want the opposite to happen.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out end of this month!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: a CD
Upcoming appointments: I have an early diabetes screen and blood work tomorrow morning
How are you feeling? Started having Braxton Hicks contractions, which have sucked but trying to keep hydrated to help
Raves/Rants: none really
Questions: none now
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? I forget often but I try to always say rabbit rabbit rabbit on the first of every month. I was always told if that was the first thing you said on the first day of the month you’ll have good luck
Holy damn! This group thread is on fire now. I’ll need to come back later for tags
EDD/weeks+days: July 7/17+6
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green!
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: A croissant 🥐
Upcoming appointments: AS scheduled for Feb12...9 more days!
How are you feeling? good overall! I’m definitely feeling baby move more frequently now (started feeling little pops close to 17w), so that’s been reassuring.
Raves/Rants: I’ve got no motivation to be at work. We’re super busy during the first week of every month, and we lost a few people in our group this month! Can I go on mat leave already? I’ve already decided DS and I are having annies mac&cheese for dinner, and I bought a pint of ice cream to get me through the week!
Questions: nope
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? None really except the occasional knock on wood. I’ve never heard of this rabbit rabbit thing, I’m intrigued though!
I wasn't here for the big check in discussion, but I like it (minus the fact I'm late and am going to have to tag like 30 people haha)! Our group was pretty tiny so I'm excited to get to "know" everyone else too!
EDD/weeks+days: 7/17, 16+3
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pink
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: avocado and she's developing her hearing - my app says she can probably hear me by now. sorry baby!
Upcoming appointments: I have one on Weds morning and am weirdly nervous about the doppler/finding a HB. I have a problem
How are you feeling? totally fine, just fat and tired. so same as pre-pregnancy haha
Raves/Rants: nothing really, just annoyed at myself that I keep getting myself all worked up for no reason. I had random abd pains while we were on vacation in Colorado last week, so now I've got myself all worried about my appt this week. I just want to relax and enjoy this pregnancy even though I don't feel pregnant at all. Rave - DH came home tonight and immediately threw food in the sous vide to start cooking, AND he cleaned a little! It was miraculous! Meanwhile I sat on my phone and typed out my response to the sleep surface thread...
Questions: Any tips on how to trust things are developing as they should and therefore relax a little? Or will it get better once I start feeling her move?
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? Hmmm...I wore my elephant necklace that my grandma gave me to every RE appt and IUI. Not sure if that counts or not! Unless they make me take it off, I plan on wearing it when she's born too! She gave it to me the last time I saw her before she died, so it's very special to me. Plus elephants are supposed to be lucky, haha
Upcoming appointments: February 5th, normal check in
How are you feeling? Still have a ton of nausea so hopefully that ends soon.
Raves/Rants: I took the whole weekend to do nothing and it was glorious and our baby furniture comes Thursday. Do I know it’s way too early? Yes. Do I care? No.
Questions: when is everyone doing their glucose test? My ob has me scheduled out till March and hasn’t mentioned it.
@beckylookatherbump I feel like it’s prob late 2nd/early 3rd tri. My OB hasn’t mentioned it either but I remember having a belly during mine last time (and I was pretty small through most of my pregnancy last time).
@blaf322, @coffeeandcookies84 and @nursejenn5 thanks everyone. It just seemed weird that my appointments were scheduled so far out at least till April and nothing was mentioned. I thought it was closer to 20 weeks. Always learning something new.
@beckylookatherbump also I don’t know how it works at other providers, but mine has always just mentioned at the appointment before that I’ll need to go to the lab before and after my next appointment to do the glucose test. It’s never a thing she’s mentioned far ahead of time or needed to schedule outside of my normal appointments.
@kc0711 oh I’m just starting the pre-e train early.
I was admitted for a few day’s for my BP, maxed out on meds and then sent home on bedrest. Because im active duty military there was a lovely issue with me getting bedrest which meant I was at work (except not really I just sat in my office reading/facebooking because my rank allows me to and I’m a doctor so I had already cancelled all my surgeries and clinic).
I had abhorrent care with DS at my last duty station, and we have no idea if I ever had pre-e or not....so we just got went with yes based on my symptoms and BP so we’re being super cautious this time.
In the end, this actually was the last straw in me staying in the military (my end date is soon and I needed to tell them ASAP) so guess I’ll be heading back to Ohio within the year.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Pretty sure Blue
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: Peach
Upcoming appointments: Check up on Friday
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Starting with the heartburn 24/7 and being out of breath all the time. No baby kicks yet. I didn't feel DS until I was about 18 weeks.
Raves/Rants: Everyone around me is super sick and it is making me crazy. My poor hands are SO dry from being washed 47 times a day.
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? Not really, but I also believe Karma is a thing.
@footdrbritt I'm glad there was some resolution. I always hate to hear that our service men and women are getting inferior care. You should have the best we've got.
@bluguitarhannah as a provider in the system myself I totally agree. I’ve made it a point to provide excellent care, unfortunately I seem to be on the receiving end of crappy care more often than not. I’ve actually sent DH to civilians off base for the majority of his care because I don’t like or trust who is here-his PCM is the exception. I’ve actually never seen my PCM, I get someone new each time. I also am lucky I have a few OB providers I like and know and they will fit me in so I don’t get pushed around.
The system is broken and it’s just going to get worse with the ‘new’ system in place. It’s sad, because when it works, it works well.
@footdrbritt wow that’s crazy, I’m sorry you are dealing with all of that, but glad you are able to now be home and rest. I grew up in a military family and now work in the VA system, it’s depressing how we are letting service members be treated who deserve the very best care.
@footdrbritt my brother in law is also in podiatry in the army(going off your name I’m guessing your work is similar haha), has stated same complaints for his own care and for my sister when she was pregnant. It really is a troubling thought.
How are you feeling? Better!!! Thanks goodness!!! I am still really tired.
Raves/Rants: I finally got my house, car, and laundry caught up!!! It was life changing!!! Thankful for my husband who helped!!! Now that I am feeling better I am starting to worry about what I am eating!!! I have really tried to include more veggies this week and less fries!!!
Questions: Does anyone else worry they are getting to much caffeine?
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? Not really. I do have to say during football season I always have to eat hotdogs on game day because I do believe this is helping my team win!!! 😂
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I don't know. I have had an envelope for a few weeks and haven't checked. Hub doesn't come to anything so will only know if I tell him lol
Baby is the size of a(n)/fun fact: length of a mascara tube
Upcoming appointments: 2/13 ob and 2/19 AS
How are you feeling? Stressed, but that is the theme of this pregnancy. Nausea is pretty subsided and I don't think I'm as hormonal (my husband disagrees)
Raves/Rants: I don't have enough energy to do laundry because steps are involved. Also, I've had two urine cultures come back "probably contaminated, retest". But I think I have a uti. I called my OB when I got the second results this morning to request either a third or treatment.
Questions:
GTKY- Do you have any superstitions? I do knock on wood/touch wood pretty interchangeably when I've "tempted fate".
sorry in advance if I miss ya! This may be the only time I respond to everyone
@blaf322 ahhh you are so close to halfway. I feel like we all just joined here, not sure how it is for you but for me this seems to have flown by! Also - I need to check out the ON pants you mentioned, I'm not doing well with maternity or normal pants right now lol
@stlbuckeye132 saw your post in the randoms, I am kind of excited you guys switched to team finding out only 20 days! I Hopefully you feel some movement soon!
@bluguitarhannah oh no! Can't imagine how horrible food poisoning is on top of being pregnant. Glad you are feeling better this week.
@modoodles hopefully you are feeling ok without the unisom! Also thank you for asking about the doppler, I've been debating about getting one to ease my stupid anxiety
@kc0711 sorry you are still dealing with nausea I also hold my breath through tunnels!
@pocketrose I mean, if they don't eat/appreciate breakfast tacos, feel free to send them to me that sounds so good right now.
@rachelredhead hooray for looking pregnant and for finding baby on the doppler! I love your superstition with the Red Sox hat
@footdrbritt I haven't been following your updates because I haven't really creeped other groups, but I'm so sorry to see that you're on bed rest and all that!
@meanjellybean that's when my AS is too (3/2) and it feels like 100 years away. I'm so happy you're happy with your new practice! I hate feeling rushed at the doctor's office and like I'm just another $ for their paycheck. I have 0 experience with any of this but I would say to just wait for the AS to see what's up? I have also been pretty anxious this entire time so I say that because if I had a false positive, I would probably work myself up until further testing could be done. Hopefully everything is just normal and you won't have to worry about further testing!
@Pascal86 I am also in that camp...I know this is still early for a FTM to feel anything but ahhh I want to feel something dang it! It will be so nice when we can be reassured.
@kristinl492 sorry for the lack of sleep. I haven't found anything that helps me either. Very interesting about the stairs!
@shaqn0sis I haven't experienced that but I hope it gets better soon. I do feel like maybe I'm not completely emptying mine because I'll pee and then like 5 min later I feel the urge again.
@nursejenn5 mmm eggos sound delicious. I could go for that and a Stranger Things marathon lol. That's awesome you're feeling good enough to start eating healthier and make a meal plan! I feel the same way about showing this early as a FTM...I've had a blump since like 10 weeks and have been really self conscious about it (since at that point I'm pretty sure it was just from carbs). Can't wait for the stage when we move from "am I just getting fat?" to an actual BUMP!
@mrsdrez yay for feeling better! Congrats to your SIL and family on the new baby
@mehugg it's so funny how being team green drives everyone else crazy except for the actual parents to be! We would've been thrilled either way too but both of us are way too curious of people to not know haha
@mayisch very interesting superstitions, if you feel comfortable sharing, what country are you in? Hooray for finding out the sex this week!
@hbird0723 I've already rearranged the like 15 articles of clothing we have 3x. I'm scared to see what I do further down the line. That's so exciting that the sleeper is already here! Which did you go with?
@NinnyJean oh no! sorry you're already having BH. Hope your screening and BW went well this morning.
@beckylookatherbump so sorry you're still feeling rough. What all furniture did you get?! I can't wait to start picking ours out!
@JessDG totally believe in karma also. I hope you're able to ward off everyone else's sickness, yuck!
@Mamaof2beautifulgirls glad you are feeling better and were able to be so productive! Can you send some of that motivation my way?! Wondering how long it'll take DH and I to unpack from our trip...
@kittenslove sorry about the potential UTI. Hope you're able to get it resolved quickly
@Mamaof2beautifulgirls. Less fries seems sad 😂 but I’m in the same boat. Adding more veggies. But still eating fries every once in awhile (tonight is shredded bbq chicken, fries, AND some veggies 😂) also the caffeine thing is hard, they generally recommend up to 200mg as being safe(you can google comparisons on what typical coffee drinks are!) but one of my providers who is like super scholarly says even that is just a recommendation and just not to be too crazy. Caffeine does increase baby’s HR among the other big reason they say to limit. Just personally, I’ve been trying to stay around 100mg a day partly because I’m trying to drink a buttload more water lol.

@blaf322 ahhh you are so close to halfway. I feel like we all just joined here, not sure how it is for you but for me this seems to have flown by! Also - I need to check out the ON pants you mentioned, I'm not doing well with maternity or normal pants right now lol
@stlbuckeye132 saw your post in the randoms, I am kind of excited you guys switched to team finding out
@bluguitarhannah oh no! Can't imagine how horrible food poisoning is on top of being pregnant. Glad you are feeling better this week.
@modoodles hopefully you are feeling ok without the unisom! Also thank you for asking about the doppler, I've been debating about getting one to ease my stupid anxiety
@kc0711 sorry you are still dealing with nausea
@pocketrose I mean, if they don't eat/appreciate breakfast tacos, feel free to send them to me
@rachelredhead hooray for looking pregnant and for finding baby on the doppler!
@MrsTiger123 hope you start feeling better soon!
@coffeeandcookies84 mac and cheese sounds amazing. Sorry work is stupid!
But still eating fries every once in awhile (tonight is shredded bbq chicken, fries, AND some veggies 😂)
also the caffeine thing is hard, they generally recommend up to 200mg as being safe(you can google comparisons on what typical coffee drinks are!) but one of my providers who is like super scholarly says even that is just a recommendation and just not to be too crazy. Caffeine does increase baby’s HR among the other big reason they say to limit. Just personally, I’ve been trying to stay around 100mg a day partly because I’m trying to drink a buttload more water lol.
