@hypermusic We are open to ANY gods or goddesses, our first daughter is named for a Gaulish goddess. Sirona, the goddess of healing waters. It was simple and sweet sounding. While we still kind of adore Persephone, we bounced onto Selene tonight and are now maybe considering it would be fun to have daughters who share the S sound.. Who knows how many more times it'll change lol. Did you ever play/hear of League of Legends? We were really into it in late college. Not a lot of time as parents to play games online but I'd say once a month my husband and I log in and play together for laughs.
@psychobutthead Leona is on out list for potential middles. I find it lovely!
Right now the boy names we're bouncing around are: Taliesin Raiden Orion Finn
@RedBaramid idk why but the name Orion really speaks to me.
@jwhite3116 I really hate my name and hubs parents gave him a religious name and his parents are all atheists and they didn't even pick his name. His uncle suggested his name the day he was born and his parents just said ok. So we are both really anal about names. We start picking names as soon as the stick says positive. Its really important to us both to pick decent names. I think the weirdest name we agreed on is Ripley but its because we don't want to pick Ellen since its from the character from Aliens.

@riatortillaxo Thanks, me too! It was on the short list for DS but I looked it up and "Delaney" has several meanings....English meaning is "from the alder grove" which reminds me of the Elder wand from Harry Potter so I'm good with that 😂....the Gaelic meaning is "child of dark defiance" which sounds like I don't need that kind of juju in my life. Also if I told DH that he would immediately nix it! Also for the 'B" names I love Blakeley for a girl!
I had my NIPT draw last Thursday so I'm hoping that I get a call today with the results!! My ringer is ON 😂
@psychobutthead Ripley Jean is such an adorable name!! I also love Shoshanna, but hubs and I are not Jewish or have any ties anywhere in our families either.

@psychobutthead the thing about the ferret had me laughing... sorry she stole a nice name from you!
I'm impressed by the people who have solid rules and lists... I haven't even really started thinking of names at all yet. The only thing we've really talked about is using Spanish names (but something that is still easy to pronounce for English speakers... my husband's name gets butchered so much that he's just accepted it and just starts introducing himself to English speakers with the wrong pronunciation ) and if a boy, using my husband's grandfather's name as the middle name (really important to my husband and I don't care enough to not let him get that one).
@fitandnerdy it is pretty funny. People doing stuff like that is why I quit talking to anyone IRL about names I like.

I love hearing everyone's thoughts on names. We haven't started thinking about this yet. I have a few names I've run by DH casually but he's not really loving them yet. We agreed not to share the name until baby arrives so we don't spend months getting other people's opinions. His only other request is that we don't name a boy with his name. DH, his dad, and grandfather all have the same first name. It's a pain at family get togethers so I'm definitely on board with this request!
My mom had a dream (before she found out that I was pregnant) that I had had a girl and named her Wednesday. Like my cat. So now when she asks what names we're thinking of I'll just tell her I really like Wednesday!
@tyrion_ speaking of tact when people are told my name without having seen me you learn quickly what people are low key racist.
All through school when friends would ask their parents if I could stay over. And telling them my name the first question out of their mouth was always "is she black?". Infact when my husband told his parents he had a date with me and he said my name there was a moment of silence followed by "is she black?".
I am not black btw.

@psychobutthead that's ridiculous! Quite the weeding out tool as far as who you don't want to associate with thought. But it must be hard to deal with that everyday. I can totally understand why names are so important to you guys.
@jwhite3116 it does make me wonder how many times my job applications have been racially profiled.
Also thats not why I hate my name. Its a stupid name and my parents named me after a woman who they had a both near at a fleat market. They liked her name and named me after her. The woman became and addict and abandoned her kids and husband.
I met the husband once at an auction while there with my mom. She told him it was me the one she had been pregnant with when they knew her. This man who never met me before tells 8 year old me "just cuz your named after her doesnt mean you have you have to be like her". Thats always stuck with me.

My DS1 we had a hard time picking a name. We had a list and DH finally said he liked a couple of names on the list and we picked from there. I have a funny spelled first name that no knows how to pronounce so it was my top priority to have an easy to pronounce name. The only down side is that we didn't think about his name being pronounced in girl form. We named him Eli (e-li) but we sometimes get Eli (El-i). Also most people assume his full first name is Elijah but it's just Eli. This time we are looking at possibly using family names for boys but also looking at other baby list names. For girls we want to do something with my moms name since she passed away before DS1 was born but we are looking at other names to pair with it as well.
For a boy I like Brahm and Declan. And for a girl I really like Quinn. Unisex name of choice, Aspen.
Boys middle name would be my maiden name, and girls middle name would be my husband's grandma's name (Gayle). Our last name starts with a B and ends in -er so a lot of names are out.
My hubby doesn't love any of those names, he wants off the wall names like Rocket and Zero which I will never agree to!

You know what, I don't mention it!!! 🙄🙄🙄
@psychobutthead That is just - wow. I agree if anything, it works to your favor as a social screening tool for d-bags. Yeesh!
We’ll find out in a week or two if it’s a boy or girl, but I think we’re pretty well settled on Charlotte for a girl (middle name Paige) and either Dean William or William Dean for a boy (probably the latter). My DD’s name is Elizabeth, so I like keeping with the more traditional names. I also secretly like the nod to British royalty with Charlotte and William (along with big sister Elizabeth).
So we just came to a tentative agreement on names! For a girl Maevis Eliza and a boy would be Xavier Alexander. I'm not 100% sold on Xavier but it was the only way to get the spelling of Maevis I wanted... So if its a boy I can convince him to change it later
we we will find out in a week what we are having but me and the hubby both love unique names and we have chosen Our GIRL Name: Bella’Sky🎀 Our Boy Name: Sevyn💙
Were going with Madison. I've had that name picked since 6th grade. When we first got together MH's maternal uncle died of cancer at 39, with no kids, just an angel baby. So MH wanted to honor him by naming a boy after him if we had a second boy (DS is named after MH & FIL... he's a III). But I suggested, even way back then, we just give our second child a middle name like his, just in case it was a girl. So its Madison Jewel.

So I *was* team green but then I panicked and got my gender results lol.
So we are having a boy and I’m totally stumped on boys names. We can’t agree on anything but for girls names these are now totally up for grabs since we are done after this: Raven Ivory (I love the black/white theme here) Xyla (pronounces Zyla) River Lyric
we like unusual names and unusual spellings. Bonus if it’s a cool rockstar name. Hendrix is possibly on our list. Maybe Hendrix Storm for a boy. I do love Wilder but I don’t think I can get Dad on board. I love love love Holden and Mateo also. And Silas.
@ziggymama06 i like Silas its a really nice name. I think its and older southern name.

@RedBaramid I was reading your requirements and Persephone was one that popped into my mind (it’s also my husband’s choice if it’s a girl). We also named our son after a video game character!
So my husband decided tonight he doesn't like Jean as a middle name to Ripley anymore.
Any middle name suggestions?

We've had our girl name for a few years and now that we know we are having a girl I want to share it! Her name is Penelope Bernice. Bernice was my grandmother's name and we were very close. We have a one syllable last name, so I like the long first name.
@ziggymama06 It’s a great name! My husband and I even debated using it for our girl. We loved the named so much. 17 year old me didn’t think about the future 🤪
It’s a boy, so little William Dean is on his way. 90% sure we’ll stick with that name. I love Dean as a first name too, but it seems riskier than William. What do you all think?
I was so excited to have decided on a girl’s name (Charlotte Paige), but it wasn’t meant to be. At least this go around. 😉
Names have been proven to be VERY difficult! We used to talk about this all the time after we'd get a few drinks in us, but now talking about it sober with a real baby on the line it's much harder for us to agree!
My favorite girl name was Eden and MH hated it, his favorite was Maggie and I hated it. We've settled on June as our favorite, but a middle name is proving very difficult! June Grace, June Everly, June Evelyn are some possible contenders.. open to other middle name suggestions!
For a boy I really wanted Ray, after my grandpa. Husband was on board until recently he decided on Brooks. I'm okay with Brooks but not 100% in love... Brooks Henry is the top choice for middle name (family name).. Tell me your thoughts on Brooks!?
Aww @mrs_sheddy June was the girl name we were set on, but we are having a boy! The baby will have an Irish last name and so I was leaning towards and Irish middle name that started with an A. I hope I get to use June one day
We are having such a hard time with boy names... we have really different taste in boys names, so it's been a little hard. My favorite is Arlo Grant (grant is my mom's middle name) and my partner really likes August (nickname Auggie or Gus), but I'm still hopeful a little June is in my future so even though I like August, I think it would be a little too theme-y to one day have two kids named after months haha. (Partner is the simplest way to describe him, but we are not currently in a relationship, which is why I think we'll only have one together)
My partners favorite names are Thomas and John, which are family names, but I told him the baby has his last name and not mine so no more names from his side
We have so many little boys between our two families that a lot of names we like have already been used, and then the baby will share a last name with a certain dynastic Irish family, which rules out some names I like (ie: Theodore/Teddy/Ted).

I suck at girl names so we won't have any serious conversations about names until we know a gender. It's not worth the fight or the extra work.
