@wife-and-mommy You can find out the sex before the anatomy scan with NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing), also known as genetic screening. It’s a blood test. Insurance covers it in some situations, like if you are over 35.
Some of the other women on the board did IVF, so they knew the sex of the embryo from the beginning.
There may be other situations where you can find out the sex earlier that I didn’t cover, but those are the two I’m aware of.
Thinking of everyone with family and friends affected by the earthquake. The fires in Australia have also been on my mind, but I don’t think we have any Aussie mamas to be here yet, right?

Did you guys see the sept 2020 board is now live? It makes me feel so much further along knowing we aren’t the newest board. Gonna be super weird when the 2021 boards eventually pop up.
@wife-and-mommy the NIPT screening can tell you if if it’s girl or boy. my daughter has a kidney disorder that’s believed to be genetically linked as well as others in my family that have known genetic traits (CF) so insurance will cover that test for us as well.

@wife-and-mommy with this pregnancy my insurance now does the blood test that can tell us the sex of the baby. When I had my daughter 3.5 years ago they didn't do it so I had to find out during the A/S.
We got snow yesterday, which than frozen over night. No delay in coming into work, I will admit the major streets were fine, but my street was nothing but ice. And that made my pregnant self call the HOA at 5:30 and complain. I'm pretty sure I forgot to leave a call back number because I was so pissed, so that gives me an excuse to call them several times this morning, until my emotions wear off.

@BusinessWife I'm not for sure if I've mentioned here or not but my MIL passed in her sleep completely unexpected the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. She was in the best health in about 20 years. She was only 58. She used to call me daily to talk to Polly. Polly and her would chat for so long. I do come from a fractured family but I started making making amends with my mom around Polly's first birthday. My in laws are the strong structured family that everyone has spoken of. All of the aunts, uncles, cousins all getting together for holidays and such.
Regarding weather, it's in the 60's and sunny in North Central Florida. It doesn't snow or ice here. Today reminds me of fall in the Midwest.

So yesterday when I went to pick up DS from daycare, his teacher says to me "we've been wondering if you're hiding something." Then proceeds to tell me that for the last few days DS (18 months) has been repeatedly picking up his shirt, pointing to his tummy and saying "baby," and so all the teachers at the school have decided I must be pregnant. WTF.
At this point, we've told zero family about the pregnancy, much less tried to explain to DS what's going on with visuals, and somehow he's still managed to out me. Pretty sure he's trying to say either "belly" or that he wants to eat "blueberries," but the jig is up regardless.
@emiliadkay I have to be honest that your post made me laugh. Did you ask him to show you what he did for them? I’m sure that they are happy for you.
Funny story, to me at least: My gf didn’t know she was pregnant and was offended that her daughters teacher ask if she was. And she kindly told her no. Well a few days later she did the math and realized she hasn’t had her period in awhile. My friend was 14 weeks!!! She apologized to the teacher and thanked for saying something. My friend told me that she made an appointment with a GI doctor because she thought she had a tumor or something 😂

I didn't start taking bump photos last time till 12 weeks, but I'm pretty sure I look about the same this time at 8 weeks. 🤦 I am just waiting for my nosey AM to ask... I feel like so far I can pass it off as over-indulging the holidays, but I'm not sure for how much longer that's going to work. 😬
@emiliadkay that is hilarious. We have not directly told my son, but he keeps talking about having a baby sister and asking if I have a baby in my tummy. I guess our attempts to talk subtly about it over his head haven’t been as subtle as we thought.
Man when I was pregnant with my first, my littlest sister in law was 6 years old(a very young 6). I was obese at the time, and she turned to me and asked when I was going to have a baby. I was confused, why did she think I was going to have a baby? She explained that only women with babies in their tummies were fat. Of course I didn't know I was pregnant until a week later but I sure as shit gave her a lecture about talking about people's bodies that day.
She also got to visit me after delivery.. and now that's shes older I have told her this story and we both laugh. When she visited, I had literally just been allowed to stand up for the first time post c-section. She took one look at me, and my still very round belly and asked "are they sure there isn't another baby in there still?" Oh I was hurt and mortified and of course my fawning mother in law didn't hear it so I just sort of said no and pushed it out of my mind the best I could. They left shortly after and the nurse came and got me to take my first shower post birth.. of course there was a full length mirror in that bathroom... Oh I cried so hard. It was awful. All I could hear were my sister in laws words in my head. Of course now I laugh.. she was young, and very poorly socialized. She didn't know she was being awful. She apologizes for being a brat to me regularly now.
I have never checked my emails so many times over the past two days. Today is day four of waiting for my sex test results. The nurse that drew my blood said it would take 3-4 days. I have a nurses appointment and part of me is thinking that they will tell me then...IDK...I just want to know!

This just happened today about asking women if they are pregnant! H took DS to the pediatrician this morning. He was smart enough not to ask her if she was pregnant even though he thought she was. She eventually said she wouldn’t be able to do his 2yr checkup bc she would be out on mat leave. I was so proud of him for not saying anything until she did lol
@RedBaramid when I was maybe 5ish my cousin gave birth and I asked her why she was still fat (like the day after she gave birth). I cringe at that now but I didn’t know any better! I’m pretty sure my mother smacked me

@psychobutthead I did this with a mom group of mine and it was 50/50. Mine says girl but I also have plantar fasciitis on the left foot so it might just be naturally more swollen 😂
@roo_baby I updated the appointment thread. My doctor had me do the test three days too early. Apparently you have to be 10+4 to get it done. I’m glad I found out yesterday, I was 10+5, because I wouldn’t have been able to redo the test until the 22. Hopefully I should know the results by the 23, fingers crossed.

@blackgirlmagic I just asked my dr about it yesterday because the paperwork they gave me said 10w and she said I couldn’t before 11w. Apparently it’s FDA approved for 10w but there are often inconclusive results that come back if you do it that early and it freaks people out, so they have patients wait til 11 weeks (I’m sure 10w5 is close enough). At least you will know in a few days! I still have to wait a week and a half just to get the blood draw.

We’re having some insanely nice weather where I am today (feels like late spring rather than middle of winter!)... went for a bike ride to town for breakfast at a coffee shop and then took the dogs on a long walk through a park! @fitandnerdy it is so unseasonably nice here, too! We went out earlier, but just on a couple errands, nothing too exciting. I would love to go out again in a bit and enjoy the weather!

@BusinessWife houses don't have basements in this part of texas. Where I am nothing touched. We just got a ton of rain. Woke up to it being freezing cold outside. One did touch by my sons school last year. Knocked all the power lines down by it.

We have been so sick. Both my daughters had fevers (at different times, when one got better, the other came down with it), one was puking. They both still have low fevers - 99*.
H has to go to work today. I just got out butter to soften because I want cookies, and I think I deserve cookies after being mildly sick (still sniffly and sneezing from a cold) myself, taking care of the children, and being thrown up on three times yesterday.
This pregnancy bad smells are triggering my nausea and making me dry heave. That includes poopy diapers and throw up.
Grossness alert. I was very close to puking myself smelling the puke and then having to touch it because it got all on the waistband of her diaper, and I had to touch it all slimy and gross to get the diaper off.
