Re: Weekly randoms 1/6

  • @wife-and-mommy You can find out the sex before the anatomy scan with NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing), also known as genetic screening. It’s a blood test. Insurance covers it in some situations, like if you are over 35.

Some of the other women on the board did IVF, so they knew the sex of the embryo from the beginning.

There may be other situations where you can find out the sex earlier that I didn’t cover, but those are the two I’m aware of.

  • @wife-and-mommy the NIPT screening can tell you if if it’s girl or boy. my daughter has a kidney disorder that’s believed to be genetically linked as well as others in my family that have known genetic traits (CF) so insurance will cover that test for us as well.

  • Sneak Peek is an at home kit. Cheaper than NIPT if you don't want/need that.
  • @wife-and-mommy with this pregnancy my insurance now does the blood test that can tell us the sex of the baby. When I had my daughter 3.5 years ago they didn't do it so I had to find out during the A/S.

We got snow yesterday, which than frozen over night. No delay in coming into work, I will admit the major streets were fine, but my street was nothing but ice. And that made my pregnant self call the HOA at 5:30 and complain. I'm pretty sure I forgot to leave a call back number because I was so pissed, so that gives me an excuse to call them several times this morning, until my emotions wear off.

  • Oh dear, I am so sorry for your loss! @smsaulino what precious memories of her relationship with Polly... (((Hugs)))
  • @smsaulino I'm so sorry to hear that, especially at that time of year... she was too young.

  • Thanks everyone! It's the NIPT that I was thinking of! I'm not sure my insurance will cover it so I'll probably just wait until my anatomy scan.
Thanks @roo_baby you are right the STM+ thread would have been a perfect place. I didn't think of it since this will be my third. Haha.
  • @smsaulino Wow, that’s devastating. I’m so sorry for your loss 💗
  • @emiliadkay I feel like they shouldn't have asked you that! It's kind of like asking someone who has a small bump if they're pregnant.

  • @emiliadkay ohh man kids! I had a few awkward daycare pickups like that and I was for sure not pregnant!

  • @blackgirlmagic I’m so excited for you to start the sex reveal thread! I think last time mine took a week. I hope yours is sooner, but don’t freak out if it’s not.
  • @psychobutthead I have never heard of that, but you best believe I just tried it. :D
  • @roo_baby I updated the appointment thread. My doctor had me do the test three days too early. Apparently you have to be 10+4 to get it done.  I’m glad I found out yesterday, I was 10+5, because I wouldn’t have been able to redo the test until the 22. Hopefully I should know the results by the 23, fingers crossed.

  • @tyrion_ my feet tell me boy. I guess we will find out eventually.

Pregnancy #4 Missed Miscarriage at 11 weeks 11/2018 Due date 5/22/2019
Pregnancy #5 Positive test 12/11/2019 Due Date 8/17/2020

  • @blackgirlmagic I just asked my dr about it yesterday because the paperwork they gave me said 10w and she said I couldn’t before 11w. Apparently it’s FDA approved for 10w but there are often inconclusive results that come back if you do it that early and it freaks people out, so they have patients wait til 11 weeks (I’m sure 10w5 is close enough). At least you will know in a few days! I still have to wait a week and a half just to get the blood draw.
  • @roo_baby I did not know that. Hopefully I don’t have to do this again!

  • hope everyone has a lovely weekend! We’re having some insanely nice weather where I am today (feels like late spring rather than middle of winter!)... went for a bike ride to town for breakfast at a coffee shop and then took the dogs on a long walk through a park! Trying to take advantage of this weather and also distract myself from thinking about my appointment on Thursday. Now for a nap...
  • @fitandnerdy it is so unseasonably nice here, too!  We went out earlier, but just on a couple errands, nothing too exciting.  I would love to go out again in a bit and enjoy the weather!
  • @BusinessWife @fitandnerdy You guys are so lucky. Its freezing here! We just got a cold front and we were under tornado warning all night.

  • @psychobutthead oh no!  That does not sound good!  I'm glad you didn't have anything touch down... Did you have to sleep in the basement???? 😨
  • @BusinessWife houses don't have basements in this part of texas. Where I am nothing touched. We just got a ton of rain. Woke up to it being freezing cold outside. One did touch by my sons school last year. Knocked all the power lines down by it.

  • We are getting all the weather you had @psychobutthead. Already have 3 fatalities from a tornado in the western part of the state.
  • @wildrainbow you're kidding!  That's so scary.  Be safe
  • We have been so sick. Both my daughters had fevers (at different times, when one got better, the other came down with it), one was puking. They both still have low fevers - 99*.

H has to go to work today. I just got out butter to soften because I want cookies, and I think I deserve cookies after being mildly sick (still sniffly and sneezing from a cold) myself, taking care of the children, and being thrown up on three times yesterday.

This pregnancy bad smells are triggering my nausea and making me dry heave. That includes poopy diapers and throw up.

Grossness alert. I was very close to puking myself smelling the puke and then having to touch it because it got all on the waistband of her diaper, and I had to touch it all slimy and gross to get the diaper off.

@BusinessWife i think it should be pretty nice tomorrow again here, so maybe you guys will get some nice weather to enjoy tomorrow too!
@psychobutthead glad it wasn’t too bad where you are!
@wildrainbow wow! I hope you all stay safe in that weather!
@coldlife I’d say you more than deserve those cookies!!
  • @coldlife Enjoy your well deserved cookies and enjoy one for me too! I hope everyone in your house is feeling better soon!
