  • @kpearse99 I do also value time to take it easy. I always feel like my clinic does everything so drawn out. Like start to finish for a FET is always an 8 week process or so and while I feel I get left behind compared to some ladies who jump right into meds again for their next FET/Cycle, I appreciate the downtime of being on BC for a little while. I remember thinking it was forever between my egg retrieval and my first FET. While it sucked being in BC for like 45 days, that did allow us to just enjoy the summer without dealing with appointment after appointment.

I think you gotta do what your heart tells you in the moment. ❤️❤️❤️

@kpearse99 so many hugs to you, friend. I was hoping you get the opposite news.

If you are in town, I agreed with @inthewoods23. If you can do a get away trip with YH, that would be a good “reset” too <3. I scheduled a vacation in January just so if this and next IUI cycle fail for me, I can take a month off without feeling that I might have “wasted” a month.

Oh @kpearse99 I'm so sorry! So many hugs friend
  • @kiki047 thanks lady!! I’m so glad you have 4 embryos that are growing nicely! Everything crossed for you and those 4 embies!!
@inthewoods23  thanks lady! Haha...oh, I’ll still be doing most of the cooking, but we usually meal plan together so it is somewhat of a team effort!
@littlebug2010 thank you! I hope you get your results soon and get some peace of mind! The not knowing can be very frustrating!
@kpearse99 sending so many hugs your way, friend!! 💜💜💜 This sucks!! Could you possibly do a hybrid...medicated (and maybe even trigger) but not full out with IUI, so you will stay regular but you can take a bit of a break from everything but still have a chance next cycle? I understand if you want to take a break completely though...it’s definitely a tough decision! I hope you and YH can decide what is best for you!!
  • @kpearse99 I’m so sorry about the news today. As for the tampons, I would wait a little until it’s all discharged. I noticed that when mine wasn’t cleaned out, I got uncomfortable down there. But once you don’t notice it coming out and can’t scoop more out, then I’d say you’re good. Again, so sorry for the news today ❤️
  • @pom9207 good luck this cycle! Halfway through the TWW!

@inthewoods23 I’m glad your new little guys are settling right in at home. They are sooo adorable!!

@mvt2003 that’s so cool that your RE asked you that - I had a doctor asked me that once and it was the best compliment! I’m glad your appointment went well and that you have a great plan!

@kiki047 I’ve been thinking about you! That’s a wonderful update. I’m glad you are feeling relieved and I can’t wait for the next report ❤️

@littlebug2010 I hope you get the results soon so that no matter what you hear you can get started on a plan

@kpearse99 I am so so sorry, my friend. You know I’m always rooting for you and I am here for you! I agree with everyone that whatever you decide to do for this cycle will be the right decision, but I was going to suggest the same as @bluetickgal so I will just ditto her comment. Sending love your way❤️❤️

@emeraldduchess I’m sorry this cycle has been such a cluster. I hope this TWW goes by quickly for you and I especially hope that this is it for you and you are able to look back on this aggravation fondly!
  • @bows22 ugh, that is SO frustrating.  They absolutely need to be talking to you about YOUR body. I am so sorry it's playing out like this. I hope you can easily switch to a different provider and that they're better at communicating.
  • @kpearse99 - I'm not sure on the tampons... I use a diva cup, and when I finally got my period after the crinone gel (this is really gross sorry - there was a lot of chunky white goop in my cup for the first two days) that I don't think that would come out properly with a tampon inserted. I would probably use a pad for the first two days or so to make sure it all comes out - or switch to a menstrual cup (which I highly recommend).
  • @NYTino24 YH is a total rockstar! A TEN day hold is amazing! MH gets cranky about a 5 day hold!!

@kiki047 I feel like miscommunications are standard - for example, there was a sign up at my RE's office yesterday (it's the main surgical center for the state) that they're renovating and all procedures will be done out of another office between December and April. MH asked the nurse about it yesterday and she had no idea. I was like ummm?

@the_road_to_oz welcome back! Hope all goes well with YH’s appt on Thursday and that you are able to go with him!
@bows22 I’m so sorry that after all that back & forth you still weren’t told everything that you should have been! I hope they get back with you today, and that you will be able to schedule your surgery today as well! Fingers crossed switching providers will be easy and well worth it!!
@NYTino24 fingers crossed your high temp is a great sign!! Seems weird to hope the SA results are bad, but I really hope they are...but better yet, I hope you don’t even need those results at all!
@ramzlau hope your US goes well tomorrow and shows good results! Ugh, why can’t people keep their nosey questions to themselves?!
@kiki047 I’d say they were just being friendly/thorough by asking how it all went...but that does seem a bit odd that they wouldn’t know your counts!
  • @shoogapoff I’m so sorry!! Sending all the hugs your way! 💜 I hope taking the cycle off will help you to recharge!
  • Good grief @NYTino24 I cannot believe he passed with a 10 day hold! That is mind boggling! I’m so so sorry, and I hope the no-hold plan works!

  • @mvt2003 glad your appointment with RE went well!

@inthewoods23 count down to the biopsy! Those spikey boys are soooo cute. I am jealous!

@kiki047 I broke the coffee table by dragging the base, without realizing that it’s totally not secured to the glass top...

@emeraldduchess sorry that you are not feeling super hopeful about the cycle. But yay for temp staying high! Some good signs here.

@bows22 ugh the RE office can do better! They have to know that sharing the testing results & give explanations to patients is as important as treating us. And enjoy your vacay! It’s well deserved!

@ramzlau the question at holiday party... I purposely offer my colleagues a ride, just so I could have an excuse to not drink 😳

@shoogapoff sorry about CD1 :( taking a cycle off is a good idea! Let the mind (and ovaries) take a rest from medicated IUIs.

@buffythevampireslayer sorry about the negative beta. I am planning on doing IVF beginning next year too, and I am thinking about doing PGS testing because the clinic we are going to highly recommend frozen embryo transfer, especially for Asian and African American women. If we do a FET then we would need to wait for at least one cycle anyways, during which time we can get the results of PGS.

AFM, BFN today on 11dpo. Kinda expected, as I am already so numb after months of months of failures. I am more sad when I saw one of my husband’s friend got married, and people are commenting on their wedding photos saying “hope you get a baby soon”. It’s a common saying to newly wed among Chinese, and does not meant to be offensive to the couple or anyone else. But I am just very very sad seeing those comments. Me and MH are married for 3.5 years now, still trying #1. Maybe we are already weirdos in our friends mind.

@pom9207 I’m so sorry for the BFN

@NYTino24 you can only leave a voicemail when you call and they have only actually called me back once, the other times they send me a message with the subject “your phone call” 🙄 I know they are really busy but it definitely makes you feel like a number. I hope the temp drop means nothing!
  • @pom9207 sorry to hear you will also be doing IVF. I have heard that FET often has better success rates so I think we are potentially going that route as well.

@NYTino24 I hope you don't get to that point! GL with this cycle!

  • @shoogapoff - I'm so sorry. I hope your cycle off gives you the much needed reset!

@NYTino24 - ughh sorry the plan didn't work out! Are you going to try a no hold one? Like maybe the DTD the night before and the morning of so there's nothing left?

@buffythevampireslayer - We did not do PGS testing because our insurance doesn't cover it and my doctor didn't recommend it - because we have no history of losses [or pregnancies]. I kind of wish we did though, because my fresh transfer didn't work and now I have 8 frozen embryos and we don't know if they're normal or not (and because of my age, my doctor will only transfer one at a time).
  • @feather_heather apparently it wasn't recommended by my doctor as well in part because insurance doesn't cover it before age 36, but we are self pay for the whole thing so that part doesn't matter to us (though it is of course more money). Can you do testing on the frozen ones now? I asked my doctor if I could do a fresh transfer and then if it doesn't work out, do testing on the remaining frozen embryos.
  • @shoogapoff Im so sorry.  As much as taking time off, DH and I found it really helpful when we were in the thick of it over the summer. Sending you love.

@buffythevampireslayer If we get to the point of IVF (not sure we will, but testing will only tell) we will be doing testing.  RPL is our diagnosis, and going without the testing is not ideal.  Im only 31, but I think the age doesnt always mean you should/nt do testing, at least according to my RE.

  • @buffythevampireslayer I probably could have opted out of doing PGS testing if I wanted to, but it's kind of just a standard part of my clinic's protocol (all OOP too). And I'm sure part of that is so that they get the best success rates. I'm only 30 but I'd rather know we're transferring good embryos than just hoping they're all good. We had 6 blasts and only 1 was found to be abnormal. My first FET back in September failed so now I'm in the process of other testing to see if it failed due to inflammation/mild endo or if the timing of the transfer needs to be adjusted. My RE says all our embryos are of quality that should result in a pregnancy so now it's just figuring out how to make it work

@bows22 enjoy your vacation! Sounds like you seriously need it!

@NYTino24 my goodness how does a 9 day hold result in normal?? Hope that temp drop means something possibly good!

@shoogapoff ugh, what a ride awakening from AF showing before beta. That really sucks!

@ramzlau I've gotten that question too at my work holiday party. So annoying. The first year I think I was honest that I gave up alcohol and now I'm using the excuse of "I'd rather just have a soda than alcohol" because ugh, still here never KU.

  • @buffythevampireslayer - I've read that it's possible, but all of the embyros would need to be thawed, then biopsied, then re-frozen, and then need to survive another thaw once we want to use them. I read that all that thawing and re-freezing can be detrimental to the embyro; so to me it's not worth the risk. If we end up going thru all 8 frozen embryos and do another ER, then we said we'd pay oop for the PGS testing for piece of mind.
  • I'm pretty sure some of you have mentioned that YH have taken supplements to help increase their sperm count. What was it that they took? I am concerned, and I know MH is too even though he won't talk about it, with the fact that his count has been cut in half with each IUI (40mil to 20mil to 10mil this last time). So I want to have some things to talk about with the RE but I don't know really know where to start other than get the advice of you fabulous ladies that have done this too.

I definitely agree that knowing they are healthy provides peace of mind and if we are already going through everything else this entails, why not the extra step? At this point, I'm just waiting for the financial info re: how much it actually costs for the testing element.

@feather_heather thank you for sharing, and I agree, it doesn't seem worth the risk to wait just to do it later. I also heard back from my coordinator that it is possible to do the thaw/biopsy but there are different financial implications, and when they thaw/biopsy later I would get put on a waitlist where they work it into the active cycling schedule, so it can take another 2-3 weeks depending on lab volume.
  • @kpearse99 MH basically takes a multivitamin pack from GNC - all of our specialists are not particular about which one he takes, as long as it does not contain testosterone. That's basically the one thing you want to make sure he does not take, as it actually shuts down normal T production. I know FertilAid is also an option, but it was not specifically recommended to us personally.
