So, one of my books about pregnancy and emotional issues has a section about how friendships change. I'll flip through it tonight and see if I can take a legible image of the applicable pages and message them to you, @rjgmcmanus
The book is called the pregnant woman's companion I think
@rjgmcmanus As I've reached my late 30s, my social circle has shrunk a lot. On one hand, that might seem sad, but I feel good about it because I am spending my time and energy on the friendships that are the most meaningful. I think it's normal. It seems like motherhood, although it may cause some friendships to fizzle, also has a way of bringing new friends into your life, as we will meet other moms in the same life stage through kids' activities. I know it's hard to be let down by friends, but sometimes it helps if you think of it as figuring out who is really meant to be a part of your tribe.
@rjgmcmanus that sucks about the people who didn't show! Glad your mil was on best behavior. I have complicated family dynamics and making the guest list for the shower was stressing me out!
Had a little cry on Sunday at DH's grandpa's 90 birthday celebration. He has Alzheimer's and is in a care home, and his wife organized a party for him and there were 10 of us. Watching him sing along to his favourite songs and see him and nana still so obviously in love despite everything the disease has taken from them...I just couldn't even. It was so lovely and sad. Other folks were like "you're gonna get us all going!" And I was like "they started it!".
@ktmaesim@rjgmcmanus hopefully you each received 4 images from me in your inbox , photos from my book. Sending messages and images through the app is pretty cumbersome so I'm not certain it worked!
Seeing my FIL tear up at his BIL’s funeral this morning. My FIL doesn’t get emotional so that hit me hard. Ps i do cry at all funerals but this specifically had me really crying.
My son's field trip was today. I thought it was tomorrow, so he didnt wear the appropriate shirt and I of course missed it. I literally cried in the pick up line when he told me. He, being a sweet 5 year old, said "it's okay mama!". My brain is gone, I'm afraid
