Lurking**** @loweeek my successful transfer my lining was only a 5mm. My RE likes to see it thicker but i always be had a really stubborn lining and she was more focused on the trilaminar. So it CAN work but I’d definitely wait to see what your bloodwork says and what your Dr recommends.

@LoweeeK I am with you on the worry boat in regards to lining as well....

I went in for my appointment today and my lining is at 9.1 on the edges and 10.2 in the center. My doctor said that its perfect but he did mention that he is not seeing the three layers, however that when I start progestrone suppositories and PIO tomorrow that those should help thicken it even more. I am just really worried that my uterus will not be receptive and it will lead to a fail transfer. As of now tho we are still set to transfer on the 19th. Has anyone had this issue?

@jessica8bryant That's how my lining was last month and they cancelled my transfer (but they didn't even have me start the PIO or anything). If your doctor's not worried I wouldn't worry!

They had to give me Zofran for the nausea. I couldn’t keep anything down being on the estrogen. Had my lining check on Tuesday and started the PIO yesterday. So far so good. Transfer is on Tuesday 😁😁😁 we find out Sunday what time we should be there. Not loving the PIO shots lol.

I'm a little nervous about my new protocol, too. They recommended a natural cycle, so my first med would be trigger, then then NO PIO, just suppositories???? I am trying to just trust my doctor, that she knows what she's doing and wouldn't recommend something that's unlikely to work, and I remember wanting a natural cycle last time, and they said we couldn't do it! But now that we can, it's a little scary to think how much we are just relying on my body to do what its supposed to... :#. It's hard to think about when so much is on the line
• Options
@marfi236 did he give you an explanation? I know my doctor wouldn’t proceed with the transfer if he didn’t feel confident but now all I can do is worry. This entire process is so unfair 😪
• Options
@BusinessWife I'm surprised they wouldn't just have you on the protocol you had last time. Don't fix what isn't broken right??

@stellegalascione I've learned that when they say use your hands to warm up the oil they really mean it! Like warm it for 10 minutes. What I also do, once I've drawn up the dosage into the syringe is to warm that oil in there for a few seconds. It stings a lot less going in and I don't get the knots anymore! The area is just a little sore to the touch now.

@stellegalascione I'm so sorry about the nausea, that's hard to live with. I hope Seabands or Zofran can help.

@dreamcometrue2017 congratulations! Amazing news!

@BusinessWife because I obsessively Google stuff and I'm on a protocol of 50% PIO / 50% suppositories I did research it, apparently there's no difference in outcomes between the injections and the suppositories. I don't know a thing about natural cycles but my ass is so bruised up I wish I had just used the suppositories 😂

@stella_700 how are you doing?

I'm not sure how to do spoilers so BETA results below **********

@stellagalascione ugh mine didn’t go as far as nausea, but the random headache are what I’ve got going with the estrace. I’m glad the doc gave you something to help.

@BusinessWife my doc also adjusted my fet protocol this time around, I’m not taking baby aspirin this time, my pio dosage is upped slightly as well. Having been successful with him before I’ve not questioned it. I’ve also reminded my self that I’m almost three years older now since getting pregnant that first time. Don’t let the changes stress you out.

i tested this morning with a clear second line.

Saturdays tested was not conclusive but this morning’s test, very early (my sister is flying home from visiting this weekend) was positive.

@allie456 ouchie! Yes, and the good news is, you and your bum are JUST. GETTING. STARTED.... :s. It's a wonderful reason to have to torture ourselves, but it still stinks / gets old, so if the research is there, why do more than we have to. Btw, if you do want to spoiler, just hilight part of the paragraph to be spoilered, and use the top little P-shaped "paragraph" drop down to see options, and choose spoiler.

Keep on growing lil bean!!!! 🎉🎉🎉💖💕

@inthewoods23 I hear ya, if it's not broke. But there's several reasons if it's an option I guess. One obvious one being the literal PITA factor. When it's successful, 6-8 weeks of IM injections is not fun. Not to mention the cost! Meds tend to be the single biggest expense when it comes to transfer (all the work of making embryos is done already, thawing and transferring is relatively simple by comparison) so if the research is there to support it for certain patients (us for example with MFI, I have pretty regular cycles, no real reason to need to overly control my cycle) eta [I was up typing my response in the motn, and finally just hit post lol] I guess the other piece is that maybe the research wasn't quite there yet a couple years ago, to back it up, because I remember asking about it and she said they didn't do them! But I also wonder if they don't do them with patients who have not yet had a live birth? Tough to say, but I'm sure my doctor would explain her reasoning a little more for me if I asked...

@stella_700 🎉🎉🎉!!!

@BusinessWife thank you so much for explaining that!

Here's spoiler practice with the things I am worried about:

Is anyone else just obsessively anxious? Before I got the BFP I was cycling between serenely sure the cycle worked, totally sad because I was sure it hadn't worked, googling symptoms and convincing myself I had all of them, convincing myself I had all of them but it was a temporary precursor to loss... now that the beta showed up positive, I'm doing the same thing but with one embryo/two embryos/vanishing twin/it's all going to end soon. I don't typically consider myself to be an anxious person but I'm really having a hard time managing my emotions around this process -- and I'm sure all the hormones I'm on aren't helping. Does anyone have any advice or things that work for you, before my husband kills me?
• Options
It is so hard not to stress. @allie456. They told me in the beginning that worrying about TTC and lab results and embryos and triple stripes..... All just turns into worrying about scans, and heartrates, screenings etc., turns into worrying about BF / formula, vaccinations, toxins, various household dangers, watching them breathe while their sleeping, ... watching them get on the bus and on and on. As in, we never stop worrying about our kids! Idk how helpful that really was for me, tbh, but I guess it maybe helped me chill my thing, bc I don't really want to be that overly-anxious mom. Deep breaths, taking it a day at a time, prayer, positive affirmations, staying busy, these things all helped me a lot. But it's hard not to until say 2nd tri.... Or viability day... Or they're here Lol. I guess all that to say maybe they are right and it won't ever go away, but all we can do is try our best to manage it and not let it consume our thoughts day in, day out. And to seek outside help if it really becomes too difficult to shake. ((((Hugs))))

@stella_700. Best news I’ve heard all day ❤️❤️❤️ Congratulations!

@allie456 the anxiety is hard to manage really hard. I struggled a lot but with each milestone I felt myself getting closer to it being real. One of the things that did help me is when I had a scary thought I would try to mentally counter it with a positive one. It helped keep the balance. The other thing that helped me was allowing myself to explore the really scary thoughts I couldn’t shake by journaling and then once again trying to add some gratitude or positive something to end it on a good note. It can be hard we are hear for you to be a listening ear anytime!

@BusinessWife I wish I would have asked about trying a natural cycle protocol. I did a stim FET last time so I was about to avoid the PIO. My rump is tender but I’m glad they said I only have to do this until 9weeks for some reason I thought it was 12 so I kinda feel like I’m getting off easy.

Oh that's good! @2MomsHoping I'm trying to remember now if mine were till 8 weeks or 10, but it was whenever we graduated from the RE, we switched to suppositories and that was it. I agree, by then end it's like, no point in even trying to find a not-tender spot bc everything is just so sore! :s hang in there - you 100% got this! 💖

Hi ladies! Late to the game here, but I have a planned FET for this Friday September 20th. We currently have 3 embies and had one failed fresh transfer in October 2018. It's encouraging to have a community of ladies in the same boat, and I've enjoyed catching up on your posts and replies. Congrats to those who have BFPs so far! I followed a natural cycle this time, as the BCP gave me my first migraine last cycle so Dr said no to that this round. I'm going to be 39 next week, and my partner is 33 - was married previously and had 2 wonderful boys then. Had my tubes tied prior to divorce, and here I am now, trying to give my much younger future husband a much-wanted child of his own. :)
Will keep you posted on progress and will start to chime in on conversations where I can. ;)

@mtpbadger and @jessica8bryant I ended up getting cancelled this month. I was told they like to see at least 8mm and will very rarely transfer below that. I was bummed, but I know it was the right call. I was told that next month they are going to start me straight with the patches rather than trying oral estrogen first. fingers crossed...

Haha @2MomsHoping I was just waiting for someone to call me out :# we don't have a date yet, no, but when we do, we may just keep it under our hats. Still no one in our family is supposed to know we are doing treatment at all, and no one IRL knows when exactly we plan to cycle, so I'm hoping to keep it a little bit more of a surprise this go around. Hoping for the best, happy news of course to shout from the rooftops!

But I guess there's just so much of the intimacy that's been taken from us as a couple by this whole process, we decided not to go too public. It might not happen in September anyway depending, as much as we had hoped for that, maybe October, not sure yet. It was a whole thing the my Ob didn't really want us to transfer till DECEMBER! (for VBAC reasons) I mean, we got a second opinion who respectfully disagree with that opinion, so the ball is maybe back in our court kinda sorta.

There's other factors too, but anyway. You caught me ;)

Hey ladies! I hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to the newcomers! Good luck in your cycles, fingers crossed for a great outcome. I saw some of you discussing how long you took progesterone, my doc has me taking crinone and estrace until week 12. Once that ultrasound is done and all is well, we stop. I remember it was such a relief last time.

@BusinessWife i totally get what youre saying about keeping it a little more private. We don’t really think about it because we are so focused on our goal, but the natural intimacy of concieving a child together is taken from each couple and its sometimes hard to deal with, but the reward in the end is so amazing. Its a tough balance. So you had a c-section the first time? I ended up having one too because our little guy was breech. We had hoped to try naturally after 6 months but of course those plans were derailed since i had to wait a year to completely heal. I guess it was just meant to be that way. @jessica8bryant sorry for the delay! Unfortunately they didn’t give me any info. I think maybe because it was later in my cycle than typical when it was that thick?

I had my lining check today for this cycle and doing the oral and vaginal estrace seems to have done the trick! A nice thick trilaminar lining! We are a go for transfer next Wednesday!

@allie456 congrats..when is your beta?

@vanessa_lynne welcome to the group, you transfer one day after I do!

@LoweeeK I am so sorry for you cancelled transfer but its better to take all the steps necessary to give your embaby its best shot at implanting, even if it means waiting.

@BusinessWife your words about tying not worry really helped. As long as we are following our protocol there is not much more we can do so its best just to let things happen as they are meant to. We haven't told family we are doing IVF either so they are unware we have had two transfers, two miscarriages and 2 D&C. We have recorded our journey and taken tons of pics so that when we do announce we have that to show them. We want them to understand that the journey is very personal and that although we didn't share in real time, we still love them very much. This is just what works for us mentally and emotionally. Hopefully the videos and pictures help them feel like they didn't miss out on the journey entirely and we were still thinking about them the entire time.

@marfi236 Congrats on the transfer and a great ultrasound. Sending you tons of baby dust!

AFM: So yesterday I spoke to my nurse and she reassured me that my doctor is not concerned with my lining and is ok with us transferring on the 19th. She said that if needed some peace of mind I could go in for an ultrasound on Wednesday, so the day before transfer. I agreed to the ultrasound and I am praying I see the coveted triple layer lining. I read that pomegranate juice, bone broth, avocados and tons of water help so I added that into my diet and I have been drinking about 100oz of water. I also gave up running (I was running about 3.5-5 miles, 5 days out of the week). I read that running makes the body use up energy to regulate body temperature and that energy is needed to thicken the lining. I also gave up caffeine. Not sure if any of this will work but I am willing to give it all a shot. Not sure if my doctor will still want to transfer if the tripling lining is not there or cancel. I just don't want to waste an embryo so if I have to wait one more month I am ok with that. I guess tomorrow I will have more answers. I also vomited this morning and was dripping in sweat last night...has anyone experienced these side effects from medications? I am on estrace, endometrin suppositories and PIO.

@marfi236 woohoo! I'm glad that you caught up with the meds. Do you have plans for transfer day?

@allie456 I'm not a writer, I read like a fiend but writing isn't an outlet for me. I didn't journal, not really, during the tough times, what I did instead was write letters to the future baby that I was working so hard towards. That kind of positive affirmation helped me not to dwell on the horrible aspects of this process. It really turned my mind around a couple of the really, really hard days, especially after a neg test.

@jessica8bryant Yeah the night sweats. I'm not a fan at all. Vomiting is something I haven't experienced as a side effect. Near migraine level headaches but that nausea has always stopped short of me vomiting.

So I'm a "pee on all the sticks crazy person". Line is still there but the progression has been slowish, it was a bit darker today. Beta is tomorrow. I need to check myself, good thing DH is keeping me semi grounded.

Hi Ladies,

I'm late to the conversation, and also behind most of you in the process, but trying to find some support. I knew this would be hard, but between the physical and emotional stress of it I'm just not sure how much I'm up for, and I know we'll need multiple retrieval cycles (I'm 40 with low AMH and we want 2 kids...started trying around 37 but had massive fibroids, which involved a complicated myomectomy and long recovery, etc etc). We just went through our first egg retrieval on Friday, 11 eggs retrieved and 7 fertilized...I was really happy with this, but I now have to wait until this FRIDAY to hear anything further. 7 full days, which seems absurd (and also abnormal?) to me. I called my nurse but she says she and the doc actually have no access to the lab info until Friday either. The hormones gave me crazy headaches but today (knock on wood) I finally seem to be doing better. I did gain 4.5 pounds over the 2 weeks from stims to now...not thrilled about this :(

@jessica8bryant wishing you luck with the lining check! I'm also a runner and I'm finding giving it up during such a stressful time really hard, but you are inspiring me!

@vanessa_lynne wishing you lots of luck with your upcoming FET!
Me- 40 DH- 37.
TTC since late 2016
Got fibroid diagnosis, docs told me to keep trying as they weren't in the cavity (terrible advice!)
5/18: Abdominal Myomectomy, 14 fibroids removed, tough recovery
11/18: Started trying again
3/19: BFP, miscarried at 7 weeks
6/19: BFP, miscarried at 6 weeks
9/19: IVF, 11 eggs, 7 fertilized, and???

@stella_700 curse testing early right? I tested yesterday and saw nothing and I was so distraught yesterday so now I'm trying to spend my week just believing maybe 6dpt was just too early to test and the embryo took it's sweet time to implant, hence seeing nothing on my FRER. Hope your beta looks good tomorrow! Mine is Friday morning.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. :)
I have been much more public with our attempt this time around (FET after failed IVF and fresh transfer last year), which is very different from others' approaches and I completely respect and encourage those ladies who are keeping it private. It's a very trying time, including the process and the many, many steps involved, the drugs, the appointments, the anxiety (I hear you ladies), the costs, the travel (if required), and the toll it takes on our bodies and minds. We are super amazing humans and it's actually quite mind-boggling and wonderful that there are options out there to help us achieve our dreams of having a family. I'm really so amazed at the process and I like to graze over research papers I find online to understand more of the technology over the years. We also take more of the heat being the "carriers" - worrying whether that 1 coffee made a difference or if that short walk up the stairs while on bed rest was what caused a failure, or if missing 1 "effervescent vaginal tablet (Endometrin)" caused our lining not to be optimal. There are so many things going through our minds all the time. I love the recommendation of journalling, as this was something I did the first time and really enjoyed sharing my story with my journal, hoping one day to share it with my future child. I also want to practice more mindfulness this time around, including meditation, to just knock off the bit of anxiety I cause myself. There are so many factors at play through this process, that we cannot reasonably change the outcome by focusing on any specific part of the process. "Que sera, sera." I am simply grateful for the opportunity and wish you all a healthy mind and body to bring you through the process.
@LoweeeK sorry about your postponed transfer. Our doctors learn a lot about how we each react to our protocols, and I'm glad to hear they are making adjustments to help you next round.
@2MomsHoping we are transferring 1 embryo. My doc is not in favour of multiple embryo transfers at this point. We have 3 currently frozen.
@BusinessWife this process is indeed a very intimate one and I appreciate you sharing your approach with us. Best of luck on your transfer.
@jessica8bryant thank you! We will be transfer buddies and trudging through the 2WW together! What are you planning to do? Test at home or wait until beta? I'm too impatient. :D
@rnjazz30 7 is a great number of fertilized eggs - I only got 5, then 4 made it to embryo at 38 years old. Our clinic advised us of updates daily; it's unfortunate you don't hear anything until after 7 days, but I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you. A little bit of weight gain is discouraging, I know, but it will be a small sacrifice in the end. I know the stress/anxiety for me causes additional eating, so I'm trying to stay away from the fridge :pensive:

@rnjazz30 welcome. I'm sorry that you are here and I hope that you do find some support with this group. 14 fibroids, I can't imagine. I'm glad that you are healed.
My clinic notified me at 3-days, 5-days, and 6-days. I know I've heard from other ladies that their clinics froze at 7 days also. Ugh the not knowing and waiting are miserable experiences, your clinic isn't a complete outlier though especially as it sounds like the embryologists and the freezing of the embryos isn't done "in-house".
Are you rolling into a fresh transfer? I've found that the meds and my response to them, that some of that weight gain could be fluid retention, especially with you still so close to your retrieval.

@inthewoods23 yeah I should of just waited and tested tomorrow morning. I'll never learn. :/ Fingers crossed for you on Friday.

• Options
@rnjazz30 you're not the only person I've seen say they don't get results until day 5 or 6. It seems strange that there's no way for your doctor to get access to the lab data. I mean, in my clinic, the embryology lab is tied to the room they do the egg retrievals in. Plus, the embyrologists were the ones that called me with the results from each check point. Obviously every clinic is different in how they're set up. Like all my BW results I get same day. I know for others they won't get results until the next day because they have to send the samples to another facility for the tests.

@stella_700 it's hard once you get that first squint of a line (not that I have any idea what that's like since I'm still trying for #1). I have been pretty good about being hydrated so maybe my concentration just isn't good when I POAS? I'm literally coming up with all possible reasoning why it was negative. I even looked up the hook effect earlier 😬

@BusinessWife. Whoops sorry to call you out. Previously we had some friends/family that knew we were trying this time we didn’t say a peep to anyone outside of the boards. December is quite awhile, glad that it looks like things will be moving sooner for you. Waiting is the worst.

@jessica8bryant so many fingers crossed for your lining. I have had some nausea but nothing that bad. Hopefully it’s just a bug and will go away.

@stella_700 the POAS is so hard. Those tests have so many variables. They drive me crazy with worry about the darkness of the line too. Try as much as you can to stay positive. Beta day will be here soon.

@rnjazz30 my clinic gives us the fertilization report on day 1 and then I get the freezing report on day 6. I have heard of others taking 7days though.

Hi all! Just wanted to jump in here -- I recognize some of the names from when I was on here for years before or in our PAIF FB group, but there is little chatter happening there. We are getting ready to do our first FET next Tuesday, September 24th (we've only done fresh before) & I had blood and ultrasound this morning to check levels/lining.

I'll post a brief history below, there are multiple TW:

***TW***
mild PCOS but no other issues, did many rounds of Clomid that resulted in two miscarriages (one chemical & one around 11 weeks)
one failed IUI before we moved onto IVF
4 rounds of IVF, the last one resulted in DD who is 15 months old now
this last Feb we did another round to freeze embryos since we didn't have any frozen but weren't ready to transfer yet (32 retrieved, 23 mature, 13 fertilized, 6 made it to PGS testing, 4 normal & frozen)
***end TW***

@Aera11 Welcome to the September board. Congrats on your future transfer date...4 PGD normal embryos is great!

@vanessa_lynne Yes we will be :) I plan on testing before beta but not sure when I will actually start. I am very impatient so I cannot wait.

Soooo my lining looked great! It has thickened to 12.8 and he said the pattern is just what they liked to see at this point. I asked about the trilaminar shape and he said at this point with progesterone being added it will actually begin to look like one big piece because it has thickened. But he did say there is a stipe and thick endometrium on both sides. I am just gonna relax and try not to stress. I'm am finally excited about transferring. We are set to transfer one PGD normal boy embryo tomorrow!

@Aera11 GL next week!

@jessica8bryant nice and juicy 😆 I'm actually really glad you mentioned that about the lining because mine was trilaminar at the first lining check and then the last one I didn't see the lines at all but never asked about it. Now I know it's just because it was thicker 🙂 and GL tomorrow! We transferred a boy too!

Since some of you have had successful transfers before, I was wondering - how were your symptoms with a successful transfer vs any other cycle that's been BFNs (either trying naturally or from IUIs or transfers)? I thought I would feel more symptoms on the PIO and suppositories but I feel no different now than when we were still trying naturally or after IUIs on only progesterone suppositories.

Is it totally normal to feel no different than I have during any other cycle of trying??

@inthewoods23 Thank you and I am glad I brought you some peace of mind. With my last two successful transfers I began to feel small cramping in my uterus...I did not confuse it with period cramps because I usually bleed before I get menstrual cramps but that was really it. Sore boobs, heightened sense of smell and tiredness did not come until later, once pregnancy was confirmed with beta. I know its hard but just try to relax, a lot of women do not notice any symptoms and end up with a BFP! Good luck!
