What types of rockers are you guys choosing for the nursery? We had a glider and footrest set with ds and I kind of hated it. I never used the footrest so it sat in the corner. Anyone using an old school rocking chair? A rocking armchair? Looking for different options.
Edit words
My vote is for old school rocker! We actually have the rocking chair that was in DH's AND FIL's nursery. Of course being a 70+ year old chair, it needs some TLC so we'll be spending more to update this one than buy new but I'm excited for baby to have something so special in his/her room.
@kbrown2385 no idea what we will actually like but we are doing a rocker too since it is free. My parents have one lying around that no one is using. It needs a little cleaning and refinishing but then it will be good to go I think.
Annnnddd we have a crib. We also got sheets, a blanket and a mattress with it. But probably not keeping the mattress. I know it’s hella early still but I wanna set it up this weekend. It was a crib at a grandparents house so it didn’t see daily use which is awesome.
@kbrown2385 we had a dutailier glider and footrest. I used it a lot but I didn't really like it either. But it was a hand-me-down and it fit in our small nursery at the time. I am thinking a recliner armchair glider this time. Our nursery is going to be bigger and I want something really comfy since I spend a lot of time in that chair breast feeding.
@kbrown2385 we had an old school wooden glider w cushions and I didn’t love it because it was too narrow. Now that I’m moving in with my mom I’m set because she has a gliding loveseat and a wooden rocking chair that’s old but in great shape
So no nursery for me because baby will be in my room at my moms house until MH gets back. But I get to do a big boy room for DS so that’s some consolation
SO wanted a space theme for the baby. I prefer bright and cheerful colors, and prefer gender neutral themes. He has a tendency to want everything black and white and grey, so I took point and found something that makes us BOTH happy.
@kbrown2385 I got a glider + foot stool combo thing off of facebook market place and to be honest I used it maybe 2-3 times. I still have it and we'll see if I end up using it in the first couple months with this baby, if not it's going right back onto FB marketplace haha
DD's new bed is finally coming in this weekend! (it's been on back order since July). Once it's in I get to decorate her room and transition her to her new room/big girl bed. Once all of that is done I can start looking on how to organize the space in our room for the new baby
Why is painting with grey so hard? These all look grey to me but in person MH swears they all pull purple. The first pic shows the dresser below which is a charcoal grey. I thought 4 samples would be enough but now I feel like I need more samples 😑 any thoughts? I know it's hard to tell with a picture.
@peppyj9 I see all purple too 😬. I’ve seen people have good luck with repose grey and agreeable grey by sherwin Williams. My friend just did a good amount of her house in repose grey and it looks awesome.
Part of the thing here is that you have yellow on the wall which is going to make all the cool tones of the grey seem purple in a swatch. My recommendation is to paint larger sections and put them closer together. They may seem less purple that way or put white around or something. The 1 and 3 seem to have the most promise in my eye for whatever that's worth from the picture.
Here's where we are. We chose March wind from Sherwin Williams. I do admit it seemed a bit purple at first but looks more grey with more on the wall I think or maybe I'm just used to it...?
@kbrown2385 I've also heard good things about repose gray and agreeable gray from my recent research online. I may have to get a couple samples. Although, the 2nd one, Notre Dame by Valspar looks much more gray as a bigger swatch on a different wall. I'm still not totally sold though but they recommend waiting a few days and looking at it at different times of day.
@biolprof yea, I think the weird light neon green behind is making it look weird. I tried a bigger swatch of the 2nd one on a different wall as that looked most gray to me and it does look better. I'll give it a couple more days. Your walls look great! And gray! They don't look purple to me at all. Are you doing a blue accent wall? I thought of that as well. Either a baby blue accent or navy blue accent wall. But I think I'll end up keeping it all gray.
@peppyj9 yeah we are doing the blue accent (Baja) and plan to put a sloth mural on it if my aunt is still able to come help us. So far we like it! I'm so glad that the bigger swatch is better!
@biolprof cute! That's right, I remember now, YH loves sloths. My mom actually sent over a cute sloth stuffed animal. It's the mama holding the baby and the baby is a rattle! And a matching sloth lovie. She got them at Target. I'll see if I can find it online and link it.
@peppyj9 yes he does love sloths. We don't have exactly the ones you linked but DH may have seen stuff like this and had to get it. I just know our child is going to hate sloths 😂
@peppyj9 thanks!! @biolprof don't feel behind!! We aren't painting the "nursery" as it's already this really light pretty blue. So we are leaving it as is and DH really wanted to finish putting the crib together. Nesting is so real LOL
@peppyj9 I'm sorry this is a little late of your color post. Undertone of greys are normally blue or pink. I would say the undertone of those greys are warmer since the grey is pinkish. Maybe look for a cooler grey if you haven't decided on a color yet. Also what you have in the room (like the type of light in the room) will bring out the undertone differently. Sorry if that ramble was confusing.
@biolprof it looks great!! 😍 making me rethink doing an accent wall afterall!
@mispanda thanks! Yea, the room doesn't get the best lighting where it's situated. I realized it's much darker in that room than I first thought. So I got more samples that are much lighter and brighter with cooler, blue undertones and I found my match! (hopefully) Painting this weekend so we'll see how it comes out!
@peppyj9 I'll be excited to see how your color(s) turn out. I was feeling the dark blue is pretty dark but with the mural on top I think it will pop nicely with other bright colors. Not going subtle it appears 😂
On the walls "First Star" by Sherwin Williams. (How fitting is the name for my firstborn's room color) On the trim, "Granite Dust" by Valspar. Everything came out WAY lighter than expected. Sampling on those neon green walls threw things off a bit. But, overall, I'm very happy with how it came out 😊
Santized the old mattress (it was a plastic outer shell). Washed the fitted sheets and mattress pad cover and made the bed. I know it’s super early but w/e. Also not pictured is hubby moved the dresser out of the guest bedroom to the nursery.
Well we at least put cribs together this weekend 🤷♀️ We didn’t change the color on the wall since it was already neutral, but feels more real having cribs in place
Still need a chair and a mattress for the crib, but it's pretty much done! I know it's still pretty early but I wanted to get it done during the 2nd tri high. I'm really pleased with how it came out 😊
Edit: sorry guys, I couldn't get the spoiler box to work

In nearly new condition! We have a 1 bedroom apt so it's gonna be a little crowded, but I can tell we're gonna get some good use out of it. Just need the crib and we're set.
I am thinking of doing a stars and moon theme

edit: for the picture of the bed!
Nursery so far

we're doing a similar setup. crib in one corner & our bed in the other. Plus the glider and a rolling cart.
