We got the floor in this week so progress is coming. Slowly piecing things together but no crib just yet. I think it will be given to us by someone just have to figure out who...it's a complicated thing where coworkers want to go in on a gift and want to know what to get but also other family is asking similar things so I'm trying to figure out who is getting us what.... Excited to get the trim done so the furniture we have can go in!
This is the wall paper that's in the nursery now. I am planning on leaving it, though it's curling in some areas so I need to figure out how to get it back on without breathing harmful stuff. The old owners put on so much wallpaper, and we have so many projects going on that I don't have time to remove it in the nursery. I don't like themed baby rooms anyway, more just colors, so I am trying to find some bedding and other things that will fit well with this paper for our little guy.
@MollySm Is the paper on all the walls? I actually like it especially as an accent. I have no idea how to paper though so I'm not helpful with that. Bright painted shelves/furniture would really pop in a room like that!
My Etsy orders finally showed up and I’m really excited with how they turned out! Next is to get the names figured out and put above the cribs and the hanging book displays done. It’s finally coming together and I’m loving it 😍
@kbrown2385 so cute! What is a hanging book shelf? We desperately need some sort of book shelf since we are getting so many books but not sure exactly how we want to do it yet and looking for ideas!
@biolprof we got some shelves from Ikea that go on the wall as well as a small bookshelf. I’m working on a book craft that hangs from the ceiling. The book shelves we have are between the windows. Sorry the lighting sucks.
oh I like the wall ones a lot. We have a much smaller room than you have even though you have two cribs lol so trying to maximize space is a necessity! But we probably have some room on the walls next to our window as well. Thanks!
@biolprof - yes, it's wallpaper. It is peeling in a few spots, so I need to get some wallpaper glue, but apparently I am not supposed to use that myself. H will have to help.
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k These are what we got. Quality was better than I expected as they are actual wood but still pretty light and the hardware isn't super durable but works for stuffies no problem.
I finally received the wall decal I ordered almost 2 months ago and installed it tonight. Now I just need the glider to arrive and to hang decor on the opposite side of the room and I am done!
We are doing "World Traveler", but not "Oh The Places You Will Go". We painted the room while I was pregnant, but before we know I was pregnant. It was going to be my massage room. And we will not be repainting it even thought we have are having a girl. I am still working on the decorating so once I have more done I will post finished photos.
sooooo, this baby is not going to have any nursery until he is a couple months old. We are moving. In January. I had a mini freak out last night about all the things we have to do for the new house and for the new baby since we haven't yet started buying things for either. I plan on designing and decorating DD's big girl room first, then using the crib and her nursery furniture in the baby's room. DD wants a pink room. Other than that, I have no clue what I am doing. We are going to upgrade her to a full bed and get a bigger bookshelf. The last time I asked, she wanted fairies so I might go with that theme.
For the nursery, we are reusing the white crib from DD and white dresser. I found some constellation sheets that I like and then I might just do other navy and star accents, some wall bookshelves, a nice glider.
@jaceru Moving at the same time will be hard. You will get there. I am assuming, like most people, baby will be in your room for a while and you don’t need to have a nursery right away.
@biolprof thank you. The person who helped us with our house picked out the design. It took about a week to do it. Having access to a projector helped.
@jaceru try not to freak out! Baby will be with you in the beginning in a bassinet if you can get one and then slowly but surely will get their own room
@jaceru dd was in with us til the 6month mark so had no need for a nursery til that point. it will be the same this time round. Which is a good job as we arent moving til around that time & wont have a room for the twins til then anyways!
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k@leprechaunlady I know! I am not too worried about the nursery since baby is going to be with us for at least 6 months and we honestly don't need much for him. I think I am more stressed about getting it all done with a newborn. @chelscreates We also moved when I was pregnant with DD, but that was about 2 months before she was due. I am not sure which way is worse.
We finally got our mural painted. Super fun! My aunt is so awesome and made us all paint a piece of it! The crib is a major piece left (going under the sloth) but feeling better that a lot of the major things are in place now!
I went bonkers with nesting this weekend. DH helped by moving the tv stand from where the pack n play is now to another part of our room. But I set up the pack n play.
The mobile went up on the crib last week. But I put the matching fitted sheet and crib skirt on the crib this weekend. The sleep sack and fluffy blanket won’t live on the crib once baby girl arrives. But I want them out cuz they make me happy to look at.
And then I fished sorting and finding spots for the explosion of shower gifts we got.
And while we plan to cloth diaper, we don’t plan on starting until baby girl can fit into one size covers, so both MIL and my mom sent us newborn disposable diapers and I organized that stash in different places around the house.
@stashattack yay coming together! It feels so nice to have all the pieces put into place. I plan to do cloth from birth but the number of people doing disposable until the one size is making me nervous that it will be too much! I guess we will see....
I feel like we have the essentials now. Got the crib this weekend. Also my colleague made a sloth quilt which I have on the crib just to look at for the moment but it is twin size so can grow with baby! I'll post the pic in another post since the pic is on my phone lol but wanted to be able to type hah!
Re: The Nursery Thread
I like that a lot of us are going for greys, moons, and stars. Great minds think alike!
@marebear15 the pandas are so adorable!
