August Symptoms

Re: August Symptoms

  • Yes to the BH feeling like it is a slowly moving hardening sensation and then rock hard uterus. Such a weirdo feeling. I had a lot with my last pregnancy and have had quite a few with this one too even since about 16ish weeks or so.

  • I’ve been super tired and emotional. Also The baby won’t stop kicking and moving around in there. The kicking I don’t mind most of the time but when she’s just wiggling sometimes me makes me nauseous. Had really bad Acid Reflux too, but my doc put me on some meds that have worked like magic.
  • @emmac99 what did your doc give you for heart burn? I literally feel like a hole is being burned in to my esophagus right now.

When will I learn in this pregnancy that italian sausage and I dont get along?!?! I desperately wanted tator tot casserole last night.  Now I suffer. I have 3 1/2 more hours at work to get through and no tums anywhere in this building (aive searched). Sipping peppermint tea right now hoping to take the edge off of it so I dont throw up in front of any clients. Im gonna have to go back on a bland diet for a couple of days to get this ish back under control. Seriously moments like this when I know I did it to myself I want to oinch myself.
  • Oh no that sounds awful @purplefan1! Tums have been working so far for me, but it doesnt seem to matter what I eat I randomly get heartburn regardless. Even when I haven't eaten in awhile, I get it occasionally.

I literally survived 3rd tri because of tums last pregnancy. I ran out like 2 days before I went into labor and bought a new bottle. The moment I had my son, zero heartburn anymore.

  • I stopped having it after my first as well so hoping for the same with this one. It seems to come in waves where I will be fine for a bit and then nonstop for a few days! And it sucks that chocolate seems to trigger it a lot. Argh!
  • @purplefan1 I’m not 100% what the medication is but I’d ask your doctor about it if it’s really bothering you.
  • I'm back!  Went to emergency room on Friday.  Confirmed I DID have pneumonia.  Ugh!  Back on the mend, but damn.  It was a hard weekend.  I've still got sore ribs, and I think I pulled a muscle in the front of my stomach.
  • @perfectoops ugh I’m sorry!  Feel better soon!! My husband had it a couple months ago and I had a nasty cough with it, but they didn’t diagnose me with pneumonia luckily.  Lots of hot showers helped!
  • @perfectoops I'm sorry you ended up in the ER! I hope you are on the mend soon! I had pneumonia as a teen and it was awful, I can only imagine having it pregnant! ☹

@perfectoops That sounds miserable, glad you are on the mend!
  • Get to feeling better, @perfectoops!!
  • @perfectoops I hope you are feeling better now!
  • I just read through everyone’s description of BH and didn’t realize that’s what I’ve been experiencing! I just thought the sensation was the baby flipping around or something and the super hard stomach was because he was in a position momentarily to push really hard on my stomach. Now I feel dumb lol. I blame the tv show friends because when Rachel had them they hurt so I thought they’d at least be slightly uncomfortable.
  • Dont feel dumb @kopp5988! I'd probably still be wondering if what is had sunday was BH if I hadnt shared here and seen everyone elses experiences! I will say that I completely get what you mean by thinking its just baby pushing/flipping, because so far my BH just feel like a more exaggerated feeling like that. I think since I've been pregnant before and know what it feels like when baby moves as it gets bigger, I could tell this was different than anything I've felt before.

  • @gumby22c haha that makes me feel better!
  • Thanks, all.  Appreciate the get well sentiments.  It's been awful.  My son and daughter had it as well. I don't wish this on anyone!
  • sometimes half my bump gets hard and it is definitely from the baby pushing. My stomach goes lopsided too. Sometimes when my kids are trying really hard to make more room in my lap the baby freaks out and quickly moves to the other side. I don’t blame him. They back up hard trying to get my bump to move out of their way. 😂
  • Anyone have anything they recommend for easing back pain?

So far the only thing that kind of helps is working out.  But usually only during the work out.  Sitting and laying down have been painful and it is tiring to stay on my feet all day.
  • @Dancer688 my chiropractor recommended using heat and cold at the same time to help. He said to put an ice pack along my spine vertically and then use a heating pad and lay it horizontally across the ice. 20 minutes on, 30 minutes off, 20 minutes on. I've only tried it once, but it helped some.

  • I started having what I felt like we’re BH this morning but constantly...tightening of my belly and happening consistently all morning...non stop

I got super freaked out and called my OB who told me to go hospital and so I did. But I felt so silly! Like I was overreacting.

Anyway, I’m here now and they monitored me, did a cervical swab to check for preterm Labor, and got an ultrasound.

The DR here said I was having what’s called uterine irritability (very mini contractions) which isn’t uncommon, but not ideal at 27 weeks. Ugh honestly I just want to speak with my OB directly...not this stranger 😭

I’m not just sitting here waiting for all my results, but I think everything is fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish MH were here 😭😭
  • @mc0303 I hope all is well with results!  That is totally nerve racking not having anyone familiar there with you.  Keep us updated!
  • @mc0303 - I second @rogro118.  Keep us updated.  Hopefully nothing that some relaxing and water can't fix.  Thinking of you!!
  • @mc0303 hope you are out of there soon and all is ok! Keep us posted on how your doing!

  • @mc0303 I hope everything ends up being fine!
  • @rogro118 @Dancer688 @gumby22c @emeraldcity1214 thanks for the good vibes!

I’m still at the hospital. They gave me some medicine to stop the contractions and I think everything is fine. The dr got called in to an emergency c section so I guess when he’s back, he’ll give me the go ahead to go home.  I’m just guessing.

It was just so scary not knowing if it was in my head or actually happening and the fact that DH is away made it so much worse. I hate being across the country from all my friends and family 😔

@mc0303 Glad the contractions stopped, that’s so scary! Hopefully he lets you home where you can get some rest!
  • @mc0303 I went to L&D for an irritable uterus with both of my previous pregnancies. It’s a pain in the butt to have to deal with. Basically, they are just real labor contractions (NOT Braxton Hicks) that don’t progress. Painful and regular.

I was put on procardia for 6 weeks with my second child to help. Also just told to take it easy. I think the risk for preterm labor only goes up slightly, maybe to 18%(?) with an irritable uterus. My second son was born at 38 weeks and I’m still convinced it was because I was contracting daily for 8 weeks. My contractions were ALWAYS close together, less than 4 minutes, with both of my labors. My first was born at 40+6.

“Irritable uterus” also isn’t a technical medical term so most doctors and people you speak with won’t know what you’re talking about. As long as your cervix stays the same, it shouldn’t be cause for worry.

I haven’t had any issues so far with this pregnancy but I’m only 26 weeks and it started at 30 weeks previously. This time, though, I’m pregnant with twins so I know my uterus will be put through the ringer. I’m just hoping I make it to 36 weeks!

I assume they gave you terbutaline to stop the contractions. You’ll be sore tomorrow if you were contracting all day. Just take it easy, drink lots of water, and keep your bladder empty. I know how much it sucks! Good luck! I’m here to chat if you have questions.
  • @Dancer688 I've been a big fan of my heating pad for back pain. I'm pretty sure I had actually strained a muscle at work, and  oh my GOD the pain was unbearable. I woke up in tears a few nights from the pain. I was taking tylenol every morning, which I hated even though my doctor said it was fine. But my heating pad after work was a life saver.

@mc0303 so glad you're alright, what a scary thing to deal with!
  • @mc0303 glad you are back home but what an exhausting and scary day!! Hoping for no more contractions and that the next few weeks go by uneventfully for you and baby so you just keep getting closer and closer to full term!!
  • @mc0303 I'm so glad all is ok! So scary, especially with your husband out of town!
  • @mc0303 glad you’re home! Such a scary story, but thank you for sharing with us.
  • @mc0303 so glad you got it checked out and didn't hesitate to go to L&D, so scary. Hope you're feeling much better now
  • What fresh hell is this...27 weeks this morning, I had an random urge to throw up before I took DS to school this morning 😲 it passed and thankfully I didnt, but it was definitely a close call. I thought this part of pregnancy was behind me!

To be fair, I did sporadically throw up with my 1st pregnancy all the way up to 28 weeks. But I havent gotten sick since like 15 weeks this time, so I thought I was free of that stupid symptom this time.

  • @mc0303 I’m glad you were able to come home. With my first pregnancy I went into preterm labor and I was in the hospital for 3 days. Then sent home with a medication to keep my uterus from contracting and put on bedrest. I ended up delivering at 36 weeks and he was perfectly fine. I hope you get some rest and everything calms down and you make it to term.
  • Is anyone already having issues bending? Sometimes I literally can’t bend because of the way the baby is I’m my pelvis. It literally hurts and I feel tons of pressure at my cervix. I swear I feel like I’m already deep in the 3rd trimester and not just at the end of second.
  • @emeraldcity1214 yes bending over has been a struggling for a couple weeks for me now. And it's just getting harder. I feel like I'm definitely in 3rd trimester territory even though I'm not officially there yet. I dont remember feeling this way so soon last time, but my memory may not be the best these days 😂

  • I wonder if it's because the baby is so low? Baby girl is riding extremely low already, so much so the tech struggle getting her head measurements at my MFM appt a few weeks ago.

  • @gumby22c that’s exactly what I was thinking. He must be super low. I can even feel when he moves into a different position after my attempt to bend.
