@purplefan1 I’ve been doing the same with lists and cleaning. I want to get all of my kitchen cabinets and drawers emptied, purged of unused stuff and wiped out this week. We’ve somehow accumulated three “junk drawers,” and I don’t know how that happened.
@rogro118 I love purging so much. After we start going through things with this next one I will start selling. We only kept everything after our first because we knew we wanted #2 and we are done after #2. So as stuff comes back in the house this time the only place it is going when we are done is donation, giving to friends, or selling. We have poor storage in our house and I hate clutter so much.
@rogro118 I had 4 junk drawers at my last house. It was ridiculous. I had one stuffed full of batteries, one that had just oddball things, one was for my daughter to keep her things safe from there younger kiddos, and then I had my own personal junk drawer to keep all the things I didn’t have a place for. 🙈 I have 1 drawer of my own in the kitchen now and it keep my planner and pens and some random things. The other stuff got put in a specific place in the garage and I’m giving my daughter a box on one of her shelves in her closet to keep her stuff she doesn’t want the younger kids to get into.
@gumby22c you’re right! But I wasn’t a reg on any of the main boards like parenting and SAHM and I think parenting took the biggest hit. It really is a shame they ran everyone off because now those boards are ghost towns.
@creamcheeseplease we are going to plan another family outing. We have been exploring the city every time DH has a day off. He happens to be off this weekend. Plus we will try out a new church and then go out to dinner Sunday night. I’m planning to put my foot down and demanding steak! Yumm!
@gumby22c happy anniversary! A week in Maine sounds amazzziing right now! Have fun
@creamcheeseplease I’m supposed to go to a BBQ too but I might bail. Feeling lazy. Plus it’s just so effing hot!!
We have shabbat in the park tonight so I’m pumped for that. I have no plans Saturday or Sunday but I like it that way. We’ve been nonstop since 4th of July so it’ll be nice to just relax and be home. 🤗
@gumby22c happy anniversary! I am so horrible at remembering dates like that. DH and I both forgot our anniversary last year. 😂 I was like, holy crap! How did we both forget? Then I saw all our kids running around and looked at my pregnant belly. It’s easy I guess when you live in chaos! 😂
@emeraldcity1214 a few years ago both H and I remembered our anniversary, but we also both remembered wrong about how long we'd been married 😂 this year was easy, 10 years! Lol
My my husband is finally off from both jobs tomorrow and we have no plans which is always a good thing! I’m hoping we can sneak out for dinner out tomorrow night and have my in-laws watch my son after he goes to bed 🤞🏻. On Sunday, we have a memorial walk for our friend who passed away in an awful accident. It’s always a nice time and his family raises a lot of money for his scholarship fund, so it’s a great way to remember him, but it is a very tough time, especially for my husband. I’m undecided if I’m going to do the walk since it’ll be in the 90s, but the route goes right by my house, and there is a party after, so we’ll see.
@Dancer688 Back in 2013, early 2014, TB gods did away with all the board mods and started banning all the regs for ridiculous stuff. Basically forcing everyone out. The boards like Parenting, SAHM, breastfeeding, etc were always full of regs and you could go there and get tons of feedback and help with different parenting struggles. Although the parenting board was hardcore and they would flame you all the way to your BMB over just about anything. Once the regs realized what was happening they started their own site on a Proboard and would drop links for everyone to follow them. It is called the Mass Exodus because tons and tons of people followed them over there and requested all their content on TB be deleted. None of my post history is visible from back then because I requested all my content to be removed. So when you look up posts from back then there are tons of gaps in the conversations. TB has never recovered from it. The main boards, aside from TTGP and a few others, are like ghost towns. It is common knowledge, even now, that TB gods favor the drive-by posters and hand out warnings and bannings to all the regs. I have been banned once or twice since I started using this site again. For stupid stuff no less.
I plan to have a low key day with the kids. We may watch some cartoons this morning while I clean the bathrooms. I keep staring at the bathrooms and today is the day I’m going to clean them. I have 4 total in this house 🤦🏻♀️. Then after naps we may run to target to get some clothes for the kiddos. It is barely 60 here and the kids are freezing. So it is time to go buy some warmer things. If I can’t find anything good there I plan to head over to Fred Meyers. That place is such a fun place to shop. They have really nice stuff but the prices are higher than Target so I’m hoping I can find some things from there first.
I also had a nightmare about packing last night. Every time I packed the last box of stuff I would turn around and find all this stuff that still needed to be packed. Ugh, I can tell my brain is just over all the boxes.
@emeraldcity1214 Moving is so hard! I am impressed you've managed it pregnant.
Having a chill Saturday...met a friend for coffee, swam some laps, bought myself two cheap workout tanks that are long bc my regular ones are getting too short for this belly, and now meeting my husband at buybuy baby! Here goes...my first time in this store ever!
Has anyone else started Orange Is The New Black?? If you haven't, please take this as a PSA for a substantial trigger warning during one of the first few episodes. I'm having a tough time with it, tbh.
@alaluap I used to watch that show and I lost interest. It just isn’t something that appeals to me plus I felt like the story line was just running in circles.
@runningfortwo81 have fun at buybuybaby! We dont have one close and since ToysRUs closed we have no baby stores so I would LOVE to be able to browse baby stuff! Instead I just shopped our storage unit for all the stuff we used with #1. ;-)
@alaluap I had to stop watch OITNB like a season ago. The job I work is filled with people experiencing trauma and after hearing trauma all day I cant watch shows that bring more. My nerves are fraught and I feel too connected to make believe stuff! I had to stop watching greys anatomy forever ago for the same reason! Even BB is too much drama some times. Instead I binge watch stuff like Bobs Burgers a lot.
I got ALL of the old clothes out of storage and am going through all of the bags. My SIL gave us a ton of hand me downs and since she is due 11 days after me, Im sending the stuff back. Plus she is pretty sure she is having a girl and Im pretty sure Im having a boy, so just going through and sorting things out. Some pretty nostalgic stuff happening over here. "Oh! Her first Easter dress!" "Oh! The first outfit she had a blow out in during the family reunion!" Love seeing all the old stuff and seeing how much our sweet girl has grown! But honestly starting to get the itch for the tiny baby stage just one more time.
And, Im glad that when this next one starts growing out of stuff we can donate or sell and not hold on to any more. We keep our stuff super nice and I want other people to enjoy it. Feel bad so much has been sitting in storage for 2-3 years!
@purplefan1 - I am doing to same thing! All the clothes have come out and looking at some of the newborn and 3 month stuff is like ??!?! how were they ever so small and yet missing that newborn smell and all those cuddles even if they are sleep deprived.
I will be so excited to get my storage boxes back. This time around we aren't saving since we are done and I have two friends right behind me due date wise so they will be getting bags and BAGS of clothes.
Also, just had my hospital tour last week and it got me so excited for November. I must be crazy, but I actually enjoy the hospital stage where I just have to focus on me and baby. Eat when I want, Sleep when baby lets me. Maybe I can talk insurance into an extra day
Its funny because I still think some of her 3T and 4T clothes look soooo big but seeing those newborn and 0-3 month clothes I cant believe how little she used to be!! And even those were big on her when she was little. Ahhh!! I told my husband I am hoping to just relax and enjoy this time around. Last time I was desperate for her to meet milestones and make sure nothing developmental was concerning. I also worried so much about SIDS and weight gain and that she NEVER slept that I wanted to fast forward the scary newborn stage. Hoping to just take this one more day by day. We will see though!
My best friends birthday is coming up and she is also about 8 weeks pregnant. I want to put together a self care basket filled with goodies like skin care and journals and nail polish etc. One of her goals recently has been to do better self care and I think pregnacy is an AWESOME time for us to spoil ourselves. Hit me with your favorite products. Things I can grab at Ulta, Target, or Amazon would be amazing.
@purplefan1 - Self care products to me is chocolate and food gift cards Oh and a really nice water bottle that helps her track water. I love my hospital size one that is literally 4 glasses of water in one before I have to refill.
@Dancer688 I am the opposite, I hate the hospital. I want to deliver and then leave a few hours later. I want my own bed and I want to be able to snuggle my other kids too. My MIL will be staying with us for 2 weeks so I can go sleep and just focus on baby at home. Plus, they always keep me awake at the hospital. Last time my milk came in within 24 hours because they kept waking us every half hour and then the baby wanted to nurse back to sleep. As long as everything is ok with me and the baby, I plan to leave AMA if need be, maybe at 12 hours instead of 24 this time.
@purplefan1 I like scented candles and bath bomb stuff. No particular brands, I try a lot of different ones. Ulta has some good ones and one time I bought this little bath scent thing that you put in the bottom of the shower and it makes your shower smell nice. I can't remember what it was called but it was at Ulta. I liked that especially since I don't always have time for a bath but that made it seem like my shower was extra relaxing. Also Burt's bees has some facial masks and lotions I really like, like their peppermint leg lotion which actually I think is part of their Mama line. That you could probably get at target or cvs.
I am dreading being in the hospital that extra day if I have a RCS. I hated that extra day last time. I actually didn't know that you could check yourself out AMA, lol. I just never thought about it.
@emeraldcity1214 I’m intrigued by this whole leaving early thing. I hated being there last time, especially since we spent two nights there leading up to delivery for my induction. This time around, I really don’t want to leave my son for longer than we have to on top of not wanting to sleep in a hospital bed with all the beeping and random vitals monitoring at all hours. Have you checked out early before? I’m curious if they gave you any trouble with leaving and getting the final check ups from the pedi and ob in a timely manner or if that stuff is just skipped.
Yeah, Im also team get the eff out of the hospital. Last time we were pushing midnight and they said if i delivered after midnight I would have to stay two full days so get out Monday. I was like, nope, and baby came about 15 minutes before midnight. And on Sunday were we packed and ready to go by 8am and couldnt discharge until noon when doc did his rounds. I just wanted to get out of there. I had so much anxiety with staff coming in and out and my baby cried the whole time because my milk wasnt coming in but the LCs were no help (tongue and lip ties) and they didnt offer to help with baby screaming, just wanted to keep pushing narcotics on me and then seemed annoyed when i refused. So the more baby cried, the more anxious I got. Oh, and since she pooped in utero and wasnt getting any nutrients in, they were going to keep us til she pooped. Luckily a nurse worked her magic Sunday morning. I just like to get back to my space and my form of sanity and my own shower and toilet.
@rogro118 I have checked out at 24 hours the last 2 times. The first time, I didn’t get any pushback but the second time I did. They kept stalling and making excuses for reasons I needed to stay. Plus DD2 hadn’t pooped and they kept telling me she had to before we left. I usually make arrangements with the pediatrician beforehand and just bring baby there the next day. Last time I had to go back to the hospital for extra blood work for her bilirubin. I would rather do that than stay in the hospital any longer than necessary. Plus, DH can drive me to all these appointments etc.
I wish I had the courage for a home birth or birthing center. I’m just too worried about something happening and I want to be as close to emergency medical care if need be. I just want the freedom to leave when I’m ready. Honestly, I would have left right after I delivered last time but my OB wouldn’t let me because I told her I had gushes of fluid 2 days before coming to the hospital. I refuse to go in unless I know for sure things are moving and I’m in active labor.
I’m about to get a massage. I plan to get one every 2 weeks from here on out. The last one was glorious! Then I plan to soak in a hot bath after I get the kids down for a nap. Maybe do some stretching later on.
Someone mentioned not seeing long sleeve onsies out yet and I just wanted to recommend the company Primary. Ive loved that they are logo free stuff and have found everything to be of awesome quality. And they have long sleeve and other baby basics that are CUTE! They also promote kids wearing any color they want and have featured a variety of cutie pie kids, including differently abled, in their ads.
@purplefan1 I just bought some of their rainbow PJs. Since this is my 🌈 I couldn’t resist. It gave me all the feels and I think I bawled when I placed my order.
Re: July Randoms
Today is really dragging for me..
@gumby22c Happy birthday to your H and happy anniversary! I've always wanted to go to Maine.
@gumby22c happy anniversary! A week in Maine sounds amazzziing right now! Have fun

@emeraldcity1214 steak sounds so good! enjoy your time exploring!
@gumby22c Happy anniversary, enjoy Maine - that sounds so fun!
I'm now craving steak and BBQ ha! Hope everyone enjoys their weekends!
@emeraldcity1214 - Now I want steak. The cravings are real. I feel like food suggestions are so persuasive these days.
@creamcheeseplease - Enjoy your BBQ!
We are hosting the girls birthday bbq this year. 2 and 4 so we have lots of family coming over. Should be chaos, beautiful chaos.
@emeraldcity1214 I don’t blame you with all the chaos, I only have one and I can barely remember my own birthday! Enjoy exploring.
@creamcheeseplease have fun at your bbq!
