@emeraldcity1214@mc0303 I keep seeing the cutest things and wanting to buy them, but then I remember I'm having a November baby and it will not be a million degrees like it is now. And I haven't seen any long sleeve onesies in stores either.
I've still managed to buy 3 shirts, a pair of pants, two outfits, and some pajamas.
DS was born in early March and it was still cold, so we have a few long sleeve things, but a lot of his stuff was short sleeve too. It was okay, we didn't go out that much and it was warm enough in the house mostly that he was fine in the short sleeve onesies. I went through DS' stuff and I still need to get probably some NB onesies. We have a lot of 3-6 months stuff that made it through. I will probably try carters sometime in September for that stuff.
I kept my last baby naked for the first 3 months of her life. We literally did tons of skin to skin. I'm hoping I can keep my house somewhat warm so I won't need to worry about long sleeves and layers but my neighbor mentioned -20 degree winters sometimes and that freaks me out.
@emeraldcity1214 - medical billing is so frustrating. I am still trying to deal with a bill from Quest (bloodwork company) that WAS paid by insurance but they spelled my name wrong so for some reason no matter how often I change it they don't reconcile even though I talked to insurance and they have assured me it is all done.
After my first was born I said for months that the worst part of it all was the insurance billing. He was also born when Blue Cross had some internal hiccups going on. I can not tell you how many maternity leave days I sat on hold for HOURS. I just kept my phone on through bowel movements, showers, pretty much my whole day. I will never forget being on hold for 1.5 hours one day, just for a rep to pick up then HANG UP. I laid on the bathroom floor, leaking milk and just cried. I really hope that its not that bad again this time.
@emeraldcity1214 I'm so glad you mentioned Natera. I need to follow up from a phone call with them to make sure my billing was resolved as well! They originally tried to charge me $4K total for tests that I got inconclusive results on. I understand that I hadn't met my deductible and everything, but when I got it done I hadn't imagined it would be that much. They worked with me since I didn't get any results from it, now just to follow up and see if the changes actually made it into their system. I hate dealing with insurance.
@BNBT we have a high deductible and that is why they are trying to charge me over $1000. They told me I could pay the lower price, $249 ?, I can’t remember the exact amount, if I paid right then. So I paid it and thought it was resolved. So frustrating.
@bmmims that sounds awful. I basically sat on hold yesterday with USPS for an hour trying to find out where a package was sent. I couldn’t imagine doing that with an insurance company.
I have been fighting a cold for a week now. It started as a sore throat and now it is in my head and chest. I feel like I can’t breathe. I also feel like everyday we spend in the house is wasting a beautiful day for the kids. So I think we will at least go outside and play in the front yard. They always enjoy that.
So on a lighter note: I had a dream that I was like college skinny last night. It was glorious. I can't wait to not be carrying around this bowling ball in my stomach.
Aside from losing baby weight, I can't wait for a Turkey Sandwich, wine, and sleeping on my stomach or back again. What is everyone else missing?
@Dancer688 I really miss sushi and WINE! I also love sleeping on my stomach but with BF I probably won't be able to do that for awhile longer still!
I decided that my stock up on wine will start soon... maybe I'll get a bottle every week once I hit like 32 weeks or something, haha. MH will be picking up sushi dinner the day we return from the hospital.
@Dancer688 I really miss the sandwiches. I do occasionally have one still but have them run it through the oven twice for me (if I go somewhere for a hot sandwich), but I get paranoid even doing this and worry for a few days after ha! I also miss sleeping on my back and beer (I'm not a huge wine drinker, but I love a good beer)!
I eat sandwiches and dont always heat them up. Occassionally I have a jimmy johns sub but I really try to limit them because the anxiety is always there. By OB assures me it is fine but....
I eat sushi but stick to cooked rolls and eat from the place I have always gone where I have never gotten sick. The sushi chef there is a sweetheart and makes delicious rolls.
I sleep on my stomach because that is the only way I can ever get truly restful sleep. But I have pillows under both hips and usually lean a little to one side. So my stomach isnt touching the bed. Ive looked in to the pregnancy pillows that are made for stomach sleepers (basically look like pool floats with a circle cut out the middle) but dont want to splurge with only 18ish weeks left. Thinking about getting the boppies out of storage and using two of them to make a circle, putting that in a case, and using that as a bump stomach pillow. We were at a beach recently and I dug out the sand under my belly and boobs and laid on my stomach and it was freaking bliss. I wonder if my husband would just support me in sleeping in the sandbox for the duration of the pregnancy?
I've had a couple subs too but I don't have them that often. I wouldn't say I miss it that much. I do eat salami in a pasta salad that I make, I think technically that counts as lunchmeat.
@purplefan1 you are a resourceful stomach sleeper! I'm totally going to try that sand thing and lay on my belly while I'm on vacation, haha, excellent idea!
I have been eating tons of cold lunch meat. I also eat cooked sushi but I am going to have the biggest plate of raw fish once I deliver this baby. That is usually what I send my husband out for when I'm at the hospital.
I'm ready to have a full functional immune system again. Ugh, I keep getting colds and they make me feel like crap!
@emeraldcity1214 I had to stop the sushi last time because of GD so my first meal postpartum was totally sushi!! Ridiculous amounts of sushi!
I also eat summer sausage while pregnant. I tried researching it to see if it was the same concern for listeria but couldnt really find anything other than the salt content probably prevented some bacteria. I felt so limited on my choices with GD while also avoiding all the no no foods and it seems like even "good" foods like lettuce get recalled for listeria and other yuck stuff. So i try to make informed decisions and good choices. And for some damn reason I just LOVE lunch meat when pregnant.
Mmmm turkey sandwiches. I miss them. I also miss chocolate not making me sick to my stomach, but I told MH last night I almost wouldnt be upset if that doesn't change. It's really forced me to cut back the amount of chocolate I eat.
I have not given up most sandwiches, but I prefer them heated up anyways. The only kind I did give up was tuna sandwiches.
I'm not a huge sushi person, so I havent eaten it during this pregnancy.
I do miss wine. My girlfriends got me a few bottles for my birthday this year and I got pregnant very soon after and never drank any. So they are sitting in my cabinet waiting for November to come.
@purplefan1 I ate a ridiculous amount of sushi prior to getting pregnant this time. We were TTC So I knew it was all I would get for awhile. I ate so much I started worrying about the amount of mercury in my system. 😂
@mc0303 - OMG Yes. Wine with a meat and cheese tray and baguette sound amazing.
@angieeeeee - I totally had/have that problem but with dairy. I started getting...sick is the wrong word but off during my first pregnancy and it turns out all my hormones changed me so I have a dairy sensitivity now. It sucks because mac and cheese, ice cream and broccoli cheddar soup are delicious. But they aren't so healthy so it has been a blessing in a way but man....I miss those things a lot.
I have not been so restrictive with myself and I have eaten sushi once 🙈 and also in first tri I HAD to have an Italian cold cut sliced sandwich, the funkier the better. Last week I ordered eggs benedict with smoked salmon instead of Canadian bacon. All from reputable places.
I miss my energy most I guess. Last summer we had such a good time doing things every day and now it seems every day is failure to launch.
I have to go to an orientation appointment with the OB office I’m switching to. 😒 This is the biggest waste of my time especially when I feel so crappy.
@Dancer688 for a while we thought it was ice cream that I couldn't handle. Seemed weird, cause I'm not bothered by any other dairy stuff. Then MH pointed out that it's always chocolate ice cream or ice cream with chocolate syrup that makes me sick. So, we're thinking its chocolate that the kiddo isn't liking.
Anyone watching Handmaids Tale? How the heck are those girls suppose to eat with their mouths like that? 😳
The high is only 63 today so it will be chilly. I’m not ready for cold weather to start moving in. It’s still July, I should have a few more weeks of at least 73 degree weather.
Yeah it is much cooler here today too! In the low 80s. Not bad!
@emeraldcity1214 that's annoying that you had to go to an orientation. I hate those things as it is but seems a bit pointless now, anyway.
@ABabyMarshall omg eggs benny with salmon is my favorite brunch food! I haven't been anywhere where I felt comfortable ordering it though. But that's another thing I really want to eat soon after this baby is born.
I know that we just had a GIF party for 24 weeks....but can we have another for the Under 100 days club? Because I just looked at my app and it is SO CLOSE! (There can never be enough celebrations in my opinion :P)
@emeraldcity1214 regarding Handmaids..yes 😬😳😳 apparently the rings come out when they have to eat..I did some research during that episode haha. Feel better!
@purplefan1 I’m heading to the beach later this afternoon and now can’t wait to dig a hole to lay in! My son will certainly just sit next to me and play so I can relax, right??!
@mc0303 I think you just helped me decide on my post baby first meal. My hospital is right next to a Whole Foods, I’ll be sending my husband there for a pound of prosciutto and some triple creme Brie 😋. I didn’t plan last time and ate an entire loaf of banana bread that my mil brought with her to meet baby. I had never been so hungry in my life!
@rogro118@emeraldcity1214 is the Handmaids Tale good? I've been debating watching it, but not sure if I want to add another show I'll get hooked on
@emeraldcity1214 hope you feel better and I'm sorry you had to waste your time on the orientation.
The weather here has been in the 80s with almost no humidity the past few days and all I want to do is sit outside! It was so hard to go back to work after lunch.
@BNBT one of the best shows I’ve watched! The storyline is so interesting, super dark, but makes you think. Also, the cinematography is awesome. There’s a book too, my friend read it first and said it helps with understanding the show more but I haven’t had an issue. Just be prepared to get hooked, but there are only almost 3 seasons.
@BNBT that show is horrible but I can’t stop watching. The story line is just jaw dropping and heart wrenching. I literally cried like a baby during one of the ones I watched last night. It just hit me hard. If you have a sensitivity to sexual abuse, I wouldn’t watch it. But honestly, it is one of those shows that leave me thinking about it for days and anticipating the next season.
I want to start Handmaid's tale, but I don't think MH wants to watch it with me, and I don't think its the kind of show I can do my side work during, which is what I usually do during solo tv time. Also, my mom gave me the book like 2 years ago and I'm a little ashamed I never read it, haha. Maybe I'll read it and then do the show over maternity leave.
I have to leave work early today since my ILs are coming in for a visit today. I'm sort of already checked out at this point. oops.
Cant remember if this is where we were discussing baby clothes, but I saw Kohl's is doing some decent clearance prices on long sleeved onesies. @emeraldcity1214 I thought of you when I saw the ad.
Also, is sassypants pregnant again? I thought she was 2 and done but there is a new person in one of the BMBs with that username. I immediately thought of her.
I have not seen the most recent episode but I love/hate the show. I have a lot of friends that can not watch it due to past sexual trauma. Its heart wrenching and graphic but I am so involved with the characters and I read the book.
I am being very brave and going on my annual girls camping trip in the mountains this weekend. We do primitive camping off of a fire road in the mountains; no power, toilets, cell service. IT IS WONDERFUL. The weather looks to be promising and not a down pour and hot like it usually is. Only thing I am worried about at this point is the night time pee breaks I have to already take, I bought a head lamp to wear but I just don't want to bug everyone shuffling around to get up constantly.
Maybe Im nesting. Not sure. But I am on a cleaning binge. Well, Im starting one. I made an extensive list of everything I want to get done between now and tomorrow afternoon when a friend comes to visit. To start Im mowing the lawn. That might knock all the energy out of me though.
I honestly havent even started any prep for the baby. All of our stuff is in storage so eventually we will get it out. But end of November still feels sooooo far away. I probably wont do any prep stuff until at least 30 weeks. But maybe in the meantime I will get back to organizing and shifting things around to make eventual room. I think we are going to redo my daughters closet and steal her dresser for the baby so possibly this weekend we can get on that.
Re: July Randoms
I've still managed to buy 3 shirts, a pair of pants, two outfits, and some pajamas.

I also miss prosciutto SO SO much!! I’ve had a hot sandwich, but honestly felt so much anxiety that it wasn’t worth it...even if it’s not a big deal.
Ive been having sushi, but I only like the high level mercury ones so I’ve pretty much stopped. Cooked rolls just remind me of what I’m missing 😭😭
For my first postpartum meal I want like a pound of the best prosciutto de Parma, a glass of rose, and a whole French baguette all to myself. 😁
@angieeeeee - I totally had/have that problem but with dairy.
