@stephanie123456 glad you’re okay, I live in MO as well @meagan-t and I guess it was about 5 years ago we had a small quake, but enough that I felt it.
@emily1052 is it you who’s in TX? DH is heading down to Austin tomorrow for the week, and I’m already dying of heat here. I kinda want to warn him about how warm it is there, but part of me also wants to make him suffer 😂

Yep! I am south of Austin and he is coming for the hottest week of the year, so far!! Definitely going to be in the high 90’s and with humidity it’s going to feel over 100! He is definitely going to suffer.... 😂

Well, I’m not going to feel sorry for him (I consider this payback for making me solo parent for the next week!), but I hope you get to stay in the AC!
psst, you may wish to check your PMs. There may or may not be one that’s waiting for you
So we made an offer on another house today. This one I want. We saw it last summer before we knew we needed 4 bedrooms and we were not looking to spend that much. They took it off market and rented for a year because they had a new house lined up and needed the income. Naturally they are asking more this time but the tenants they had were not suuuper kind and it needs some love (paint and a few cosmetic things). We went in with what it was last year since it needs things it did back then...
Ugh. Multiple offers in the 24hrs it's been listed. Best possible by noon on Tue. We upped another 10k but we are not going to get it, I'm sure.
And if course that led me to another emotional break down about giving baby her "own" space here and painting and DH adamantly refusing to paint. He keeps getting the idea I want it done now. He won't listen and talk long enough for me to get it through his head that it won't be until mid/end of Aug.
My H and I spent the day reorganizing the garage to make space for a chest freezer. I am so excited to be able to make freezer meals to prepare for baby! And I'm even more excited to have a freshly organized garage. Everything is labeled and in its own designated place. I get warm fuzzy feelings just looking at it! Organizing is my love language, LOL 😂
@prpl11butterfly Crossing fingers for you! But also, can you add an escalator clause so you can keep going up incrementally until you hit a certain number? That way you could out bid someone by only $1k. OR is this a situation where you could write a personal note?? I know that seems lame but I know a ton of people who have done that around here and they often get the house even if they come in lower than another offer. Sellers like to know their house will be loved by the new owners.
@stephanie123456 I saw some headlines abt the earthquakes in CA (and I’m on vacation almost completely unplugged.) I hope your family is safe!
@galentine I loooove organizing too. Do you follow The Home Edit?
@cmbt2 Good luck on your solo week. Try saying “yes” more than you otherwise would. Might help you stay stress free.
Ladies, I can't tag anymore tonight... exhausted after spending three straight days on the beach with a 7 yr old, two 4 yr olds, an almost 3 yr old, a just turned two yr old, two babies, my ILs and also not being able to relax with a drink. 😑
@junebabyh, I do follow The Home Edit! I follow Neat Method too. So satisfying to see organized closets and pantries when scrolling IG! 😂 Also, WOW your beach vacay doesn't sound all that relaxing! I hope you are at least enjoying the family time and are able to find a little time for rest and relaxation!
@galentine I love when our garage is organized!! Usually it’s still an organized mess because it’s a one car garage and our girls have a lot of toys. We can’t even park our car in there.... BUT it’s organized ℓσℓ.
@junebabyh that is a lot of kids!! 😳 you’ll need another vacation after this!
@prpl11butterfly good luck with your offer. I hope yours is accepted. And a letter sounds like a nice edge!

@prpl11butterfly good luck on the offer. We had that happen to us a couple times and it is so nerve-wracking. I will have my fingers crossed and if it doesn’t work out I hope your DH comes around to personalizing a baby space.
So my husband's friend had a little 4th of July party this evening. I decided to make my sugar free dreamsicle salad (ridiculously easy, but yummy!), knowing full well that most people probably wouldn't touch it since we were arriving late.
Anyway, the party kind of ended when the power in their town went out and the little kids started getting upset, so we headed home. On the drive home with the barely-touched dessert, this is what happened:
Me, holding the dessert: *starts digging in the side pocket of the door, then the glove box* DH: What are you looking for, honey? Me: I can't tell you; you'll judge me. DH: A spoon. I don't have one, but I have a straw.
He caught me! And then he made me suffer the remaining twenty minutes thinking about the deliciousness I was holding. 😂
I’m off today for the first time in what feels like forever because work has been all consuming leading up to our opening. I didn’t set an alarm, can sleep in, and here I am, awake at 5:30, just struggling to go back to sleep. Why does my body do this?!
@meagan-t I had to google your salad as I’d never heard of it before. Sounds yummy! Hope you enjoyed it when you got home.
@PenelopeSnuz77 I am sorry you didn’t sleep in as hoped. That internal alarm clock is so frustrating on days off.
We went to a friend’s 40th birthday last night, it was fun but I left much earlier than MH because my back couldn’t take the backyard patio furniture any longer and I was tired. I’ll definitely take sleep over a party nowadays.
DS (~2.5 yo) wore underwear the whole day yesterday! He had an accident at the very end, because he insisted that he could take his pants off and get on the toilet himself. He was just not quite quick enough, but that was right before we put him into his overnight diaper anyway. I'm so proud of him!
@junebabyh I wish I could, but it ends up causing more stress in the long run 😪 He strives on routine and consistency. Anytime we relax a rule, it takes DS1 at least a week to get back on track after one instance. Luckily, he goes back into his program tomorrow for summer session, so I’m hoping getting him back into his routine will help.
@galentine I am about to clean out the spare room and make room for baby stuff today!! I've been dying to do it the past few weeks, but DH's brother is staying with us right now until August. Unfortunately, this baby isn't really going to have a room until he's like 6 months old, but I still need somewhere to put all the things!! Don't even get me started on our garage! Since I've been in school the last 2.5 years, I've ignored all the things, like organizing, and I was trying to make room for a few boxes in the garage the other day. It's ridiculous. DH is a mess in there! But after I take my boards in December, it's on! All the cleaning and organizing and throwing shit away so we can get ready to move next summer!!
DH, his brother and DD1 left for a little trip to Atlanta. They're gone until Wednesday. I am stuck here because I can't get out of clinicals for that long. While I'm so jealous that they're going and I'm missing out, I'm soooo looking forward to a few days to myself. I can get stuff done around the house and just chill for a few days, even if I still have to go to clinicals every day. It's a welcome break.
@galentine It's so easy! Dissolve a box of orange Jello in 1C boiling water, add 1/2C cold water, and refrigerate for twenty minutes. Then add a packet of vanilla instant pudding until well combined. Next add a small can of mandarin oranges and 8oz of thawed whip cream. Stir it all together, refrigerate, and enjoy! It'll fluff up after another stir at about an hour.
The best part? You can go sugar free or low fat if you want by just changing the ingredients you buy. You can even change the fruit! I did strawberry before and it was good, but it was pretty sweet.
oh good point @cmbt2. Well in that case I wish you lots of binge watching your favorite show after bedtime (I was going to say "wish you all the wine..." But...
@steminist my nephew is at that point too. I can't believe my sister's hearing. He could say, "pee" in the smallest voice and she'll get up and grab him to get him to the toilet b/c she knows there's not much warning time. Hehe. Sometimes works, sometimes, too late...
@alinic916 Waving hi to your family from ATL! Also, I know this isn't your first go around, but we didn't even move our son into his own room until about 6 months anyway. He had a crib and everything ready before he was born, but slept in the PnP next to me for the convenience of overnight nursing.
@steminist same! DD1 slept in our room in the PNP until 5 months. This baby will be there for 6 months. Last time DH's mom came to stay with us for 2 months when I went back to work so we moved her when she left. This time she'll come for 2 months again when I go back to work so he'll be 6 months. It's just hard because I want to decorate the baby room. It feels weird. Even though I know he's going to be in our room for a while. Like, we probably won't even buy a crib for a while!
@junebabyh it’s so hard doing the big family get togethers without a drop of alcohol!!
Sorry I’ve been MIA. Really bad internet service all weekend.
*TW* I am still spotting intermittently and I’m still stuck in California. It seems to be every time I walk too much I bleed. Just trying to stay off my feet as much as possible until Tuesday AM when I can see my high risk dr. Will probably call regular OB first thing in the morning too.
Hope everyone’s had a lovely long weekend! Reading thru these posts best I can on mobile and sorry I’m not tagging individually.
@prpl11butterfly the house bidding war situation sucks. Fingers and toes crossed for you!
@obsessedwithoranges girl I expect you to keep all the things crossed. Just so you CAN'T walk too much 😉. Added bonus for me. But keep taking it easy. Tuesday is almost here.

From personal experience, I know the multiple bid situations get so frustrating. The housing market where I live is ridiculous.
