Re: Weekly Randoms 6/3

  • My breast pump arrived yesterday. They slightly redesigned it and it looks nicer, but I miss the little built in bottle holders the old model had.

    @peachy0709 I do the same thing. I try to read and keep up with what’s happening but I don’t always have time to respond. And sometimes I have a question and I just try to hurry and get it posted before I forget it and don’t always have time to respond to everything I want to. Sorry guys 😬
  • @peachy0709 same. I try to check in in the morning before things get crazy at work and by the end of the day, when I have a free moment again, so much has happened here.

  • @peachy0709 I haven’t logged on in a while but even when I was at least scanning the posts daily, I’m 6 hours ahead of EST and that kinda makes it an odd time. By the time everyone gets going I’m busy with DS or en route to bedtime already!

  • My poor baby gets hiccups at least once a day.. I feel bad for him. Does everybody else notice that often as well?

    procrastination at its finest here.. am working full time currently and in college classes full time and need to get my butt in gear but just relaxing and getting caught up on social media instead.
  • @janel3214 Yes, my baby also gets hiccups at least once a day. It’s not harmful, I think it maybe happens when they take practice breaths?
  • mkrelmkrel member
    @sourlemon now I want to order Olive Garden take out for dinner when I have a perfectly good pasta dinner waiting to be cooked. Hopefully I can remain strong.
  • @janel3214 hiccups every evening. Sometimes a couple times a day. But guaranteed every evening lately. DS1 did it in the womb nightly as well. That’s one movement that drives me insane lol

    @peachy0709 happy Birthday!

    @zamora_spin People keep asking me if I feel him hiccuping. Is it the twitching feeling in there?

  • Happy birthday, @peachy0709!

    @suzycupcake To me hiccups are movements that are rhythmical and coming from one particular spot at a time. I guess twitching would be a way to describe it, as long as it is in a rhythm. I usually feel them when I’m sitting or lying down. I also think not everyone feels them so it’s fine either way!
  • @peachy0709 happy birthday!!!

    im not sure I’ve felt hiccups either.  There have been a few times that I’ve felt something in rhythm—almost like when I could feel my heartbeat before I got KU.  Or like a muscle twitch.
  • @olivemomma What does it help you with personally? I looked into prenatal massage here in California previously and it looks like massage therapists here don't have to be licensed so not only do you have to find one who is specifically licensed but then you gotta find one who has specific training for pregnancy massage. Am I making it complicated? I want one so badly.

  • @suzycupcake I guess for me it’s just about actually relaxing in more or less as much comfort as I can get right now for an hour or so. I don’t pamper myself much, almost never get my nails done, hair is a simple trim 2x a year, etc., but massages I just love. In terms of pregnancy specific massages I have always found if I go to a reputable and upscale place that has pregnancy massage listed specifically on their menu their therapists (or at least some of them) are trained in prenatal techniques. My one yesterday was definitely a little less focused on my lower back for example than a normal massage, she worked on it but it was different and more gentle than a non prenatal, they know what positions are comfortable, and may focus a little more on other areas like shoulders, neck, hands, and feet. However, I do not know if they are specifically “licensed” in prenatal. It’s deemed a safe experience and one of the more relaxing things you can do later in pregnancy so I would definitely recommend one! Maybe ask some girlfriends if they have had a good local experience??

  • @suzycupcake My state does have a required licensing process for massage therapists, I didn't realize any states didn't! Still I would imagine you could find folks who are certified, but that sucks that the burden is on you. You definitely want someone who has training in prenatal specifically -- in my experience only those who have training in that will do a prenatal but that may vary by area.

    I've had two very different prenatal massage experiences so far. The TLDR is I found the one where they had special equipment for pregnant ladies to be much better. The first was at a spa I go to regularly and generally really like (it's a Woodhouse, which is an upscale chain spa). My massage was ok, but I had to lie on one side and then the other, and then was very briefly on my back. I think I was around 20-22 weeks and didn't have a lot of specific complaints except I was already having minor hip pain from trying to stay sleeping on my side. The other we had just spent three full days walking around NYC. I was miserably sore and tight, I experienced BH contractions (I think that's what they were anyway) for the first time due to all the activity, and by the end of each day I could only waddle very slowly. I got a massage at our next destination and it was awesome. They had this special contraption that allowed me to lie face down with my belly in this kind of sling thing (I am not a stomach sleeper but something about being able to lie down in a different position was wonderful). I felt MUCH better after that massage. I have been looking around and sadly haven't found a place/therapist around me who has that device, they all seem to reference lying on my side. I could really use another massage I think because I've had a lot of stress and long car rides this week which has led to hip soreness, but idk if the side style massage will cut it.

    @wabash15 Did your kids spit up a lot? I never felt hiccups with my first, and I'm sure they're not related, but DD spit up so much and well past the time she should have stopped and I always wondered if it was related to not having hiccups and some kind of development thing.

  • @olivemomma I need to schedule one! I actually paid for a prenatal massage at this baby expo, but haven't actually scheduled it. I was thinking about this last night when I woke up and felt achy...everywhere.

    @suzycupcake does your hospital have an affiliation with a wellness center, spa,  or other agency/place that offers massages? That is how I found my place.

    I just went to Target unsupervised and bought two new bathing suits. I was bummed that the one I got a little over a month ago is already extremely tight to put on dry and damn near impossible to pull back up wet. I probably won’t keep both, I don’t need two, but they made me feel pretty. I also bought two packs of Oreos (one for me and one for the rest of the family). Who buys Oreos and bathing suits at the same time - pregnant chicks!
    @thirdtimesacharm2019 I think the bolded part is the most important. I agree with @wabash15 if they help you to feel good/better then keep them both! sometimes it is the little things that make a big difference.

  • my baby has hiccups right now haha. They’ve been going for so long. Poor thing.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • FWIW both of my boys had regular hiccups in utero and were great eaters with very little spit up. This baby also has daily hiccups, so I hope they are correlated.
  • I keep getting ads on FB for a surrogacy company.  I didn't want to be pregnant with my own child, what makes them think I would do it for anyone else?
  • I ate too much for dinner and/or I have less room in there and keep forgetting.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • To all those who replied to the hiccups question thanks I was hoping that was normal. I hate hiccups myself so just feel bad for the baby having them so often!

    @peachy0709 Happy belated birthday!!

    @thirdtimesacharm2019 lol I Buy way more than planned every time I go into target! But yes if they make you feel pretty then definitely you should keep them!

    @AKuzReve I always forget I don’t have quite as much space and eat too much and then am slightly miserable afterwards.

    I took away all of my children's toys except stuffed animals. They take hours to clean. It literally took them all day yesterday to clean up the living room and their bedroom. And I'm so tired of it. DS1 does ok. But DS2 picks up one single toy at a time. Like I'm talking one Lego brick and walks it to the Lego bucket then jumps or rolls back to the rest of toys and then generally just stares at them until I tell at him to keep cleaning and I can't don't anymore. I'm a little worried he has ADHD to be honest. But he's also like, 4.5 so how do I know if this is just normal 4 year old behavior or if it's something else? I'm on the verge of throwing every single toy in this house away.
  • @Beauxbaton My 4.5 year old cleans the same way. Or she just tells us “I don’t know how”. It drives me insane. I feel like that last bit of toddlerhood before they mature more at 5 always feels like ADHD. I would be concerned about DD too if I haven’t seen a few other kids make that transition. Doesn’t stop us from yelling at her about it though.
