I’m just going to brag about DH real quick. I came home from work and he has cleaned out and organized the linen closet AND he cleaned and organized the utility room. 😱🥰 I’m so happy I could cry!!
@cmbt2 that just really pisses me off. Hopefully once we are in a PG we can talk more on the specifics. I have a lot to say about how you and your family are being treated.
@galentine I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I hope you all take the time to grieve and can find some peace in memories.
@prpl11butterfly what a fun way to share to news! That donut looked really really good.....
I’ll give you the rundown once we have somewhere more private to discuss it. It’s been nothing but frustration with this. My initial hesitation with even doing this was that he would drag his feet and not do things on time, but they kept assuring this wouldn’t be the case... well, it was, and they worded the contract in such a way that there was no way out without losing a ton of money. We ended up having to eat the cost to extend our (fairly generous) 11 month commitment because they dragged feet so much.
All - on the related note about a PG, did you see that Sept BMB had started discussing and voting on admins last week? Guess I won't be able to stalk them pretty soon
@stephanie123456 thanks for the link! I’m laughing so hard. One of the rabbit holes took me to a thread on July14, my first BMB. I don’t remember that particular one AT ALL but it was in December and that’s my craziest work month so I must have missed it. We went on to have another catfish (I’ve mentioned that). Lots happening back then!
All - on the related note about a PG, did you see that Sept BMB had started discussing and voting on admins last week? Guess I won't be able to stalk them pretty soon
Yes, I saw this. I'm so happy for them but sad for me because I won't be able to lurk them anymore 😂
Also makes me anxious/excited to do that ourselves soon!!
@galentine just catching up, and I'm so sorry to hear about your Hs grandma. I'm so happy you all were able to make the trip to see her and spend some quality time, as emotional as it must have been!
I'm so frustrated with DS's daycare. It's an "in home" daycare but the lady doesn't actually live there, she has the apartment just for the daycare and she lives elsewhere. But she's supposed to be open at 8, and I legit have to drop off DS right at 8:00 sharp in order to make it to work on time. She keeps showing up a few minutes late, which doesn't seem like a big deal, but it makes me a few minutes late to work which doesn't look great as a relatively new employee. And this morning she didn't show up until 8:10!!! If I were running a daycare that was supposed to open at 8, you better believe I'd be there by like 7:45 so that I was ready for parents to drop off at 8. It's so aggravating, I can't wait to get her in somewhere else.
@SLou24 Ohhhh that is so frustrating! I wouldn't be able to handle that and would probably leave asap. Even if there is a good reason for running late, the point of her job is to be reliable.
@galentine I'm so sorry about YH"s grandmother but glad you got to spend some special time with her.
@prpl11butterfly that was such a sweet way to announce to the kids, even if they didn't quite get it in the beginning. Which is very very cute btw.
@cmbt2 ugh I'm sorry you're having such extended new home construction woes. Hopefully the contractor gets his act together, finishes up and gets off your property soon.

You know....my due date is the first week of October....I've legitimately never thought about popping on September because my other 2 came so late. 😂 Oh well we will be sticking here 😂 my July group was sooooo open. Like when I see the precautions we take here.....I'm like holy shit we we're super open in July 😂 we did a birth story thread, and some others that looking back might have been better in PG. Eep. It's weird cause DS was a June due date, but came 2 weeks into July. Though he was originally a July due date, nut ultrasound bumped him back. But I'm happy here so I'll be staying here!! Lol just realized I never thought of that🤔
@galentine - I'm so sorry to read about H's grandma. The part where you told her the name was so sweet, though. Love!
@cmbt2 - double urgh about the contractor. You said the contract was worded to allow the builder the max amount of time flexibility - is there anything you can do with the BBB or small claims court?
@SLou24 - I'd definitely ask the provider about this. Because she's not being professional and you're paying for a service she's not delivering.
Coworker doesn't really like sweet things and is more of a savory snack person, but also a super social butterfly with four younger siblings so her house is full of food people bring by when they visit. This means she regularly declutters her pantry and brings the sweet stuff to our office; this week it was Swiss chocolate with a milk cream filling. OMG the best.
Watching Good Omens on Prime when the kids are in bed. Down to my last two episodes and I am simultaneously happy at someone making my mostest favoritest book from my 20s and also (very lightly) disappointed because some scenes were just so much better in my head. David Tennant can do no wrong, though.*swoons*
@grapeskittles4lyfe I need to add Good Omens to my reading list! When I saw the preview for the show with David Tenant I was tempted to jump into that but I’m a firm believer in reading the book first
Oh, and we got married in November
(don't remember if I posted about that) on our 10 yr anniversary.
Courthouse, no kids, just a photographer, because it was always the plan
to have a garden party in our backyard with close friends. (Nothing
fancy. Cake at 3 and dinner at 6 with people coming as they see fit).
Well, the party was set for July 6th, we sent out invitations in Feb,
guest list is fixed....and then we just completely spaced out on it.
Now
the party is one month out and I've got the musicians lined up and know
where to pre-order the cake arrangement for tea time. But we are just
now deciding on food and which tent rental to use. Sigh. At least SO
OKd not only getting a sitter for the kids but also someone to help out
with general event stuff (decoration, cleanup, etc). Doesn't feel like a
glorified backyard BBQ anymore but I also don't want to have a party
and not be able to talk with anyone.
One of the
techs from my old lab texted me last night asking if he had to
wear a suit and I was like WTFNO. If I'm getting out the pinata and
kiddie pool I am not dolling myself up and it would only look bad if the
guests did. So I've added a to do task to my calendar to write everyone
the week before the party that the dress code is just shy of jean
shorts and undershirts.
@cmbt2 I’m so sorry about all the construction hassle. One of my pet peeves is people who don’t do their jobs properly or follow through (e.g. a health insurance person who says they’ll look into your claim and call you back but never do). Your situation would drive me bananas.
@SLou24 Funny, your situation also falls into my pet peeve category. I forget if you’ve said this already, but are you on a waitlist for another daycare? I hope your job is understanding.
@marbellie I saw that on the Sept board. Looks like August is making a move too. In my last BMB, I felt like the move to a PG was when we really started to get to know each other better, so I’m excited we’re getting close!
Does anyone watch The Handmaid’s Tale? Season 3 came out yesterday and they released 3 episodes at once! I didn’t have time to binge watch but I’m happy I don’t have to wait a week for the second episode.
@quidditchcapn1120 her reactions was about what I expected. She doesn't show much emotion over things like that. We are still working on ner meds. We see a difference but not enough of 1. Dr was going to up the dose but we mentioned the price. She advised we call insurance and ask what med would be better covered. I called her back yesterday with the name so I should hear back today.
@greenbean-2, I watch The Handmaid's Tale too! So excited for season 3! It's so heavy though, I can usually only handle one episode at a time. I think it's the only show I don't want to binge-watch, because it's just too much for me to handle sometimes.
@galentine my savior was recently thawed cheesecake. Apparently my coconut milk went bad causing my smoothie attempt to fail. I had taken the last 2 slices of cheesecake out last night. 1 became breakfast!
ETA the key lines from the article in case you don't want to click:
The ultimate limit of human endurance has been worked out by scientists analysing a 3,000 mile run, the Tour de France and other elite events.
They showed the cap was 2.5 times the body's resting metabolic rate, or 4,000 calories a day for an average person.
Anything higher than that was not sustainable in the long term.
The research, by Duke University, also showed pregnant women were endurance specialists, living at nearly the limit of what the human body can cope with.
During pregnancy, women's energy use peaks at 2.2 times their resting metabolic rate, the study showed.
@galentine and others (can't remember who to tag) - I would totally love to work for a place with an animal friendly environment! Even better would be one where you could bring your infant to work...
Also, for any other California ladies (calling @lillywonderland since she's in another BMB), the bill to give new parents 100% pay for PFL just passed the Assembly with a 50-3 vote and now goes to the State Senate! I really hope it goes through and is available soon to we can take advantage!!

@stephanie123456 Welp, I guess I should watch the local news more often, lol, Excuse me while I go research the f*ck outta this. Any chance I can get Baby Girl to spend another month or two on the inside until this becomes (hopefully) active?!?
Shoutout to the (male) resident who left me a negative review regarding “being distracted by personal matters” when dealing with morning sickness earlier this semester. What a lovely person!

I’ll warn you- the other states that have recently implemented PFL have had a mininum 1 year period before it went into effect 🙄 and depending on if youre a union state, you may be exempt from it...
i may or may not be a bit bitter that my state exempted unionized employees from them so I have to go entirely unpaid during my leave again solely because my union is made up of old white men who see this as a bad thing

Maybe next time you could deal with your personal matters all over that asshole's shoes.

Luckily he graduates in 24 days so soon he will be someone else’s personal matter. 😜

@cmbt2 that all sounds so frustrating. There is nothing worse than feeling unsettled at home and the ongoing issues seem like such a headache.
@galentine I’m sorry about H’s grandma. Hugs to your family as you navigate the tough times ahead. 💜 I LOVE that you told her DD’s name! So special!
@prpl11butterfly cute donuts! Were you surprised by your niece’s reaction? (Also, did you get her meds figured out? I may have missed an update.)

Leftover donuts. 🍩🙌
@SLou24 I would definitely say something to the provider. Maybe she doesn’t realize that her tardiness has a ripple effect.
@prpl11butterfly I had no idea I needed cheesecake till I read your post....
@grapeskittles4lyfe I’m sure everything will fall into place! I’m so excited for you!
