@cmbt2 CA already does 6 weeks at 60-70% for PFL so this would be just an increase from that amount to 100%. But even if it goes into effect for 2020, I could delay utilizing my benefit until that time to take advantage, since I believe we get up until the baby is 12 months.

The week of inspecting is done! I have one more day trip and two one night trips left this month, then I only have local ones left. Wahoo! (I really do not like inspecting)
Thank you to the person who parked so close to me that I literally couldn’t squeeze myself and my belly between the cars and had to CLIMB IN through the passenger side, which was just shy of impossible—but not as impossible as not being able to suck in your stomach just to get to the drivers side. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
@galentine I’m so very sorry. Lots of hugs. @prpl11butterfly I love the doughnut reveal! @cmbt2 I’m so sorry for all the contractor drama. @SLou24 that is so incredibly frustrating and unprofessional, are you looking for other care options? @quidditchcapn1120 What a jerk! @junebabyh I always get an urge to force myself into my car and give them a scratch with my door. I never do of course but I get the urge nonetheless.
Annoyed at the group of girls that came to the baseball game for 3 innings and then gave DH side eye when I went to the bathroom. DH felt it was very much a “can’t believe you drug your pregnant wife here” side eye. For the record not all woman are like you. I actually drug my husband to the game, not the other way around. Andplusalso being fat pregnant doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy life.

A really nice car (tesla I think, I can't remember) did this to me at a baseball game when I was about 37 weeks pregnant with DS, I squeezed my ass into my car and left a little dent in his door. He parked over the line, I was so pissed 🙄
Thanks so much ladies! It is super frustrating (re: daycare lady being late). @greenbean-2@kindbytealikat Yes I am on a waitlist for another daycare thank goodness. The hard thing is that when she got into this one, it was literally my only choice -- I contacted at least 30 places and they all either didn't have any openings, didn't do part time care, or I hated it there. Daycare is so tough.
Happy Friday everyone!! It's going to be a beautiful weekend here, I hope most of you have nice weather lined up too. We have no plans but we'll probably end up at the zoo at some point, and some solid playground time.
@galentine we are going to look at 1 tomorrow. It's not ideal (master is in basement, 3 kids rooms on main living level) but I can learn to live with it. Honestly, when they are older I'll like it better. It will need some work to be what we want. Example, bathroom down w/ master is only 1/2. I can shower upstairs and then go downstairs but realistically we want a second shower (3 kids, including a preteen, there will be someone getting cleaned daily lol). Its well below our price so we have wiggle room to add to that in the near future. BUT our realtor is concerned about an offer being accepted because ours is not currently active. We need to be ready so that should we put in an offer, we can add to it that ours is scheduled to list on xx date.
@prpl11butterfly Good luck! 🤞🏻 Do you have an escalation clause in your contract? Sometimes that can make a big difference on if your offer is accepted or not.
My rant of the day is I called my insurance today (Aetna) because I've been wondering about breast pump options. With DS, I had Kaiser and they provided me with the Ameda (I think it was Purely Yours... I would NOT recommend it) and thankfully I was able to borrow a hospital grade from a family friend for the majority of my breastfeeding journey. They told me I would need to go to my doctor and get a prescription 30 days before delivery... I made the comment that it sounds way too close for comfort, the representative (a woman) said, "well you won't need it until the baby is there", and I got snarky and said, "I understand that, I'm a second-time mom so I've already been through breastfeeding and pumping before. My concern is what if the baby comes early, I don't want to be waiting for insurance to approve something and then have to wait for the darn pump to be able to get to me..." She had no further suggestions. I think I'm going to talk to my OB next appointment and see if we can get it early, just for peace of mind.

@stephanie123456 that's was protocol when I was expecting DS. Honestly though, it shipped amazingly fast. It was easily within the week. BUT my hospital does it differently now. Their LC has a full stock of pump options. Baby is born and she runs your insurance to see what's covered. Then she comes down with your options, you pick and take home. I think that's a MUCH better system because as you said, babies come early sometimes!
@stephanie123456 I have Aetna as well. I don’t remember having to wait 30 days ahead and I didn’t need an Rx. You may have better luck ordering through a third party who does all the insurance coordination for you. I used Pumping Essentials last time and was happy with them. Let me know if you want me to send you the link to Aetna’s breast pump providers. I had to dig a bit on their website to find it.
Posting here instead of digging up the working mom thread... I finally got up the nerve to talk to my boss about planning for maternity leave. I asked for 4.5 months off (mostly unpaid) and to come back at 70-80% time and she agreed! I have to work out the logistics with HR but I’m so happy to have her support.
@stephanie123456 Look at Byram to see if you're covered by them. That was SO super easy for me and the pump was approved, shipped, and arrived the same week. I was shocked!
@stephanie123456 I also used a third party to order my pump and it was amazingly easy. They contact your insurance company AND your doctor's office to see what you're eligible for. My pump was in my hands at least a month before DS1 arrived (and he was 2 wks early). I used Aeroflow Breastpumps.
@junebabyh I just tried to use Aeroflow because I googled 'Aetna breast pump' and I thought it took me to the right page on how my insurance will work. But I got an email back from Aeroflow saying my insurance doesn't work with ordering through them.

Love this! Good for you to ask for what you want - that's much harder to do than a lot of people realize.
@stephanie123456 Oh bummer!! Maybe one of the other companies will work for you. Either way, demand whatever you need, Mama! @greenbean-2 I meant to mention a big congrats for going for it (and getting what you want)!
@greenbean-2, Congratulations on negotiating your time off and new schedule!! That's amazing and so exciting. I'm also reducing my hours to 75% (my new schedule starts in less than a month!). I'm so excited for that extra time with my family ❤
@jenferlee82 and @junebabyh Thank you! I was super nervous and prepared to negotiate or give lots of reasons why it would make me a better employee etc, but she was fine with it. I know there are a few other people in my group who are at least considering having kids, so hopefully I’m making things a little easier for anyone who comes next.
I’m so happy for you ladies who will be going back to work with less hours after baby! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to broach that subject. Way to go for what you want 😊
@greenbean-2 You are totally paving the way for future moms, which is flat out amazing when you think about it.
I originally planned to reduce hours for my first year back, but then I accepted this new role and there’s just no way I can do that. But I am going to try working Mon-Thurs and instilling “no meeting Fridays” so I can keep baby home from daycare one day/week. I’ll just work email, paperwork, strategy, etc. on those days. We’ll see how workable it is!
My job is not very stressing however it would be nice but I could work from home easily. Right now it's frowned upon and alot of us just don't understand that.
@prpl11butterfly pelvic rest is really hard. I’ve been on it for over 6 weeks. DH is very sad! How long are you on it? Mine is indefinite bc I have complete placenta previa. Just depends on if/ when it moves.
@obsessedwithoranges until July 2nd at least. I have a follow up US that morning. The report makes it sound like a very little spot is overlapping. I have a friend who was on pelvic rest from about 6wks to 30 or longer 😯
@Cass005 That is a shame when it’s so easy to work from home for many roles these days and is such an employee engagement/satisfaction booster. Hopefully they come around!
@Cass005 same with my organization!!! It drives me crazy. They leave it up to the managers and there is no formalized policy so while my department doesn’t do it (but totally could), other departments are basically never in the office. While I’m sure their moral and employee satisfaction is great, mine and the rest of those who aren’t as lucky are quite cranky.
