@jenferlee82 congrats! Big decision, but so awesome you have that opportunity.
@melanier26 thinking of you today. Keep us posted, I’m sending all the good vibes I can.
I’m about to head to the beach for a three day trip with my in laws... they’re perfectly well meaning and sweet but it’s gonna be a long 3 days. Esp bc I am having a high risk pregnancy so I will be receiving a LOT of unsolicited advice, bordering on lectures. I’m bringing all the books and going to use pregnancy as an excuse to just lie on the beach the whole time!
Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes. Baby had a heart rate of 135-140 while we were there. At my last appointment 2 1/2 weeks ago it was 155 but the nurse said fluctuation can be normal so I just have to convince my PGAL-anxious brain that she’s right.
She also said they don’t expect you to feel regular movement until closer to 28 weeks but I’m glad they were able to accommodate me before the long weekend. My AS is Wednesday so I’m sure seeing that all is well then will help me a lot too.
@melanier26 glad all is well! and yes, they are correct. At this stage, even feeling daily movement can be followed by days of none. It’s why kick counts (if you do them) aren’t started until 3rd tri. HR fluctuations are also normal. Baby will have a baseline and accels and decels. As long as it’s above 120, you’re good
Sigh. I have an official diagnosis of pre-e in my chart. Would have been nice if they had told me they were calling it, but I don’t necessarily agree with it at this point 😪
@cmbt2 I didn't even know they could call it this early how far along are you? Did you have it in previous pregnancies? I'm terrified of being diagnosed again even though I know statistics are on my side... I'm so sorry 💚

21w. It runs in my family, but I’ve never had it before.
My BP was up from my normal (120/70 vs 100/60 it normally is) and I have a good chunk of swelling, but I didn’t think the numbers were high enough to call it. It’s still within the “normal” range for BP, right? They haven’t even asked for a urine sample to spot check for protein, so I’m very confused as to why they are calling it already instead of checking again to make sure it isn’t a one off number, you know? Unless they’re looking at the fact that I already take magnesium and BA, which are usually prescribed as preventatives? I’m really confused by this whole thing.
@cmbt2 that doesn’t make any sense. I’d definitely be asking questions because I don’t think they are supposed to ever diagnose it without a 34H urine.

According to Mayo Clinic they can 🤷🏼♀️ At my appointment last week, I was under the impression we were going to just watch my BP since it’s in the “normal for pregnancy but high for you” range.
But i also already have had vision changes, which I’ve had every pregnancy and told them occurs every time (I lose 1-1.5 powers in my vision that doesn’t correct post pregnancy) and swelling. With DS2, I was plagued with headaches that we could never find the cause (which is why I take the magnesium supplements).
I have lots of questions for my next app, which is directly followed by my next growth scan and MFM appointment.
@cmbt2 that does sound confusing. Especially to put it in your chart, but not have discussed it with you. I hope at your next appt they have lots of answers for you!

This! How stressful for you! Hopefully they get answers to you soon.
This is probably a confession, but that thread is buried I think:
I just danced around my living room listening to James Taylor's "your smiling face" picturing me singing it to my baby when he learns how to smile. I know it's about a woman that Taylor is in love with but still.... Super cheesy, I know. And I cried.
@cmbt2 yeah, that seems super off to me... Is this going to change your birth plan? I think you said you're with midwives right? I guess if it doesn't change much besides pre-natal care than yay for being cautious, but if it does it seems way to early to call it, especially without a urine analysis

I don’t have a birth plan, actually. My MWs work closely with my MFM and are the only group that will take high risk patients. They’re already planning on inducing me at 39w due to fast labors, but they’ll induce earlier if it’s medically necessary. They also will be the ones who do my weekly NSTs at the end.
@cmbt2 I didn't mean birth plan birth plan, just a switch from midwives to obs! I wasn't able to work with the midwives at my hospital because I was high risk that's really awesome that you get to stick with them!
Sorry for being kinda MIA this week. Been at a work conference in Chicago and soaking it up with the fam (this is where I did my residency so we are feeling nostalgic being back). Headed back tonight.
My BFF came over today with her DD (2). Omg. DS was so awesome with her! It's a good thing I'm already preg because my ovaries would have burst in yearning lmao
Harry Potter has been my (greater than normal) obsession this pregnancy and I found this at the store today, its soooo yummy!! Currently drinking my butter beer and watching Prisoner!!
Been away from the board for a couple of days but wanted to at least catch up with and deliver a few comments.
@jenferlee82 what amazing news and congratulations! Whether you decide to take the position or not, they are that impressed with you and the work that you do, and I hope you celebrate that fact even if you decide to decline the actual promotion.
@melanier26 I'm so glad that baby is doing well. I totally feel ya on relying on those kicks hoping that they're fine in there. I can't wait until the consistency is better.
@cmbt2 how confusing that is! Especially that they didn't tell you. Hopefully it's just that they're putting you on pre-e watch, but def will be nice to get to hear what they really think at your next appt.

@meagan-t it was at my local IGA (small town grocery) in the greater Seattle area! Not sure if there's something similarly near you... Maybe Google can help though?!
In no way am I judging those who have/want one, but what is so special about the UppaBaby stroller system? I know two women who have registered for and gotten one, yet I can't personally fathom ever spending $900 on a stroller. I honestly just don't understand. 🤷
So DH decided to BBQ today. I came up with a quick menu (bbq chicken, baked potatoes, Mexican Street corn salad and spinach and strawberry salad) and sent him and one of his buddies to the store with a list of things we would need. They come back an hour later with everything on the list plus some additional items. I start unloading the groceries and ask what all this extra stuff is for.... DH’s buddy tells me “I figured we could also make fajitas, too”. I just looked at DH and said I’m not making fajitas. I mean WTF....

If you are tall, your options become more limited. It’s the only stroller I don’t kick when I walk. 🤷🏻♀️ I love it, it’s the right size for me, super smooth, durable wheels.
@meagan-t I'd love to know this as well. I feel like for that kind of money, it ought to be self-driving!
I also feel the same way about the SNOO bassinet. I get that sleep is important, but just can't fathom spending $1300 on something that is used for only a few months.
@meagan-t The plus side is there’s a really good resale market for Uppa Baby strollers. So you can get one second hand and save some money and/or sell it later to get some money back.
@mrsinterweb I agree but I just found out you can rent a SNOO and I’m VERY tempted - for DDs first few weeks of life she would only sleep if someone was holding her and I really thought I was going to die from exhaustion.

I bought a gently used one for $300 though.
Twinsies (again!) we got one for $400 off CL; the family had bought it for their 9 month old twins, for like one trip, so it was in great condition and the bassinet was NIB. I love the configuration possibilities and the huuuuuge basket. I'm a pack rat and my girls definitely take after me. Also the weight limit and seat size is larger than with the bugaboo donkey (there was one on CL at the same time as the Vista we ended up buying).
DS was feverish all last night. This morning I noticed his ear was super swollen, red, and HOT. There was some drainage from what appeared to be a bug bite. Advised to bring him to UC. While there, I noticed 1 of his bites from last weekend was swollen and looked like bulls eye. UC was concerned so now he's being treated for Lyme. They think the ear is an unrelated cellulitis reaction but the poor kid.
