Yesterday I was reading the "Survivor in death" novel on my kindle
and started just massively leaking out my eyes (not crying, just tears
that wouldn't stop) when the girl had to say good-bye to her mom and dad
in the morgue. Oh lord. And then I read "Hello Lighthouse" to DD1 in
bed and the lighthouse keeper's wife has a baby and then when the
lighthouse gets a automated light mechanism and the keeper's family goes
back to shore....bawling. Especially because the keeper's kid on the
last page looks just like DD1. Argh. Hormones.
Ever since I've sorted two huge boxes of maternity clothes into my
dresser I just sigh and ignore the ads for super-cute maternity wear
that has been clogging my feed. I've got like 5 pairs of pants, 10
dresses, shorts, a bajillion black leggings, nursing bras and tops
galore, three jackets (winter! summer! duffel coat!)...I mean, yes, I
inherited some, but after two pregnancies and knowing this one is my
last I just can't justify more. Even though browsing seraphine maternity
and momo maternity websites just makes me wish we'd lost one of the two
boxes I unpacked.
Spoiler for huge pinteresty
pic. Not that I've got her figure, but I have boots and jacket similar
to that, all that's missing is the sweater dress.

The hormones are a real pain!
i’d stay away from Born in Death while pregnant, as an FYI
A little confession for your Tuesday morning- I’m stalking the infant room weekly to find out when the kid DD is replacing moves up to the toddler room. I need to start planning leave and returning to work along with who ever is going to watch her while we don’t have care, and I can’t without her start date 🙈 he hasn’t started yet, and all I know is sometime in January she can start 😪 Knowing she’ll be here by end of Sept doesn’t help because I know for sure I’ll return by Jan 2nd
I was going to start a thread but didn’t know if it’d get enough traction. What are you all giving your moms/MILs for Mother’s Day, if you give gifts?
Last time we stayed at my parents I noticed my mom was wearing the robe she’s had since I was a kid! So I ordered her a new one...then went through her closet and discovered she has like 4 of them 🤦🏼♀️ So now I’m scrambling around last minute trying to figure something out...
@galentine I've had a few friends rave about Dead To Me... going to watch it this week I think!!
@melanier26 we just went to visit my mom this weekend to celebrate her birthday and also mothers day. Mother's day I usually get her a nice potted/hanging plant, so I did that and also brought her up a few gifts for her birthday, including some other stuff for her garden so it all kind of went together. I'll usually also take her out to brunch or something, but this year we did a big family dinner.
ALSO my coworker this morning told me how big I look. WHY. She is also my age with 3 kids so she knows better!!

so thoughtful! and yet so hilarious
I get my mother plants (not flowers) that she can put in her garden. My parents' house is full of crap, I don't need to add more random tchotchkes I have no idea if she'll love or not.
I will, however, get her a necklace with "this grandma belongs to" and then the names of all 3 kids for 2020 mother's day

I'll be trying my hand at tumblers. I'm ordering a cup turner and have all the other supplies. I'd really like to try something like this...just on a cup, except I'll add their names (i.e. my mom is Mimi & then add in her grand kid's names)

@sweetteaandswingsmama Weird question, but what is broken on your dryer? In other words, why does it not work?
Stuck in the quote box- Our lint trap broke about a year ago and I couldn’t find a replacement that fit because it was an older machine. Anyways I’ve been just hand cleaning and vacuuming it out which has worked great until Easter Sunday when I must have shoved a piece of lint to far back with my vacuum and it started smoking and had a small fire. We have another dryer but it needed a part that should be here soon to fix ourselves. We had planned on buying a brand new one but my parents had one that was two months old and just needed a small fix so we took theirs. Doing laundry for our family of 5, often my SIL, plus towels, bedding and pet beds once a week we are very hard on our washer and dryer.
@melanier26 I have no ideas for Mother’s Day this year. I usually buy her a photo shoot with the grandkids and our entire family which I will be doing this fall but I’m leaning towards stuff to decorate her porch for summer like plants and hanging baskets. Her neighbors get competitive about who has the nicest porch around the lake, it’s weird to me. 🤷♀️
@melanier26, for Mother's Day my mom is probably getting some kind of potted plant. I might take her out to lunch too, if she doesn't have plans Sunday. MIL is getting a "grandma journal" thing we found on Amazon. It's super cute and basically asks a bunch of writing prompts about her growing up, what her life was like, and how excited she is to become a grandma. It will ultimately end up being a gift for our baby (it's meant for grandma to give to grandchild) but I think she will love filling it out for her granddaughter!
I don't know how y'all STM+ do pregnancy with non potty trained littles.
I had to help DS in the bathroom earlier and about vomited at the smell.
@jane101757 I love my Snoogle pillow. I bought it last year with my first pregnancy. I busted it out about two weeks ago and I think my body at night, knows how to defeat it. I am a side sleeper, I start on my back and turn to my side, the moment I pass out. But lately, (even with the snoogle) I notice myself on my right side and on my back. I try so hard to just stay on my left.
I'm completely a back sleeper so this has been tough. I have to box myself in with the contour pillow to give myself a chance to not flip... And even then, I end up keeping my legs to the left and still twist my upper torso to my back (as if I'm stretching).
Does anyone know if this position is a good compromise? Haha
@melanier26 My mom is getting a gift certificate for a pedicure + a few pairs of cute socks. Also, my mom, sister and I are doing an all-day spa day on Saturday. MIL is getting a mug I bought on Etsy that says "I can't be trusted at Home Goods" + a canister of fancy tea.
@marbellie Not sleeping on your back has to do with the weight of your belly pushing on a vein that pumps blood to your baby. I think as long as you're not completely flat on your back it's ok.
I usually get my mom plants (rose Bush, lilac tree ect). But this year my brother and I got her perfume. She had mentioned loving the smell of my cousins shampoo, Herbal Essences Rose Hip, and wishing she could find a perfume similar. I did some research and found a potential at Ulta. I went to smell it this weekend and think she'll love it. Its Philosophy Ballet Grace if anyone is interested.

Also, my OB told me it's not really a concern until 28+ weeks, when your uterus is heavy enough to put pressure on the artery. There's no harm in starting early with getting into the habit of sleeping on your left side, but I personally have just been sleeping however I can get comfortable for now.

Yup. Pretty much. Also, you’ll know when to stop.. you won’t be able to get yourself out of the position after you get into it 🙈 upside down turtle is a good way to summarize it. Once it happens once, you won’t put yourself in that position again 😂
So I posted a few weeks ago and said how my bloodwork showed I do not have measles immunity. And now there’s an outbreak in our city AND DH is leaving this weekend for an international trip. I’m sending him for an MMR vaccine right now (even though they don’t fully work until 2-3 weeks after you get it) and going to avoid the downtown area but since it’s a recent outbreak and new locations of potential exposure are still being announced, my nerves are shot right now 😷
@melanier26 Sorry you’ve got the added stress. Hopefully the outbreaks stop soon!
I got my mil a charm bracelet a few years ago and will get charms every once and awhile. It’s a good go to if I’m not sure what to get! @sweetteaandswingsmama I love the idea for a photo shoot. I may have to use that one next year!
@junebabyh@galentine@cmbt2 thanks for the sleep position information! @cmbt2 I lol'ed at the upside down turtle image, I guess I'll know when it's truly time to stop
My appointment went well today! We then decided to buy a crib and mattress from Target to celebrate. 😂 We originally went there for a different one, but this is the one we both ended up liking better in person:
@melanier26 hugs for the measles outbreak. I had the same issues with having to get another booster after my son was born but thankfully there were no outbreaks. The current outbreaks are creeping closer and closer to my town and my county has a stupid high number of unvaccinated people which terrifies me for the fall when peanut is born.
@sammygirl18@sweetteaandswingsmama Thanks. My husband had to go to the health department for the vaccine and the nurse there was very helpful in giving him factual information. It also sounds like it has the potential to NOT spread (none of the people who have it are from here) so that’s good. And he should be set now for his trip since he got the shot.
She also told him that just because the bloodwork shows that I don’t have immunity doesn’t necessarily mean my body wouldn’t “activate” to protect me if I was exposed. It’s just that they can’t do studies on that so they aren’t sure and err on the side of caution
I know it doesn't seem like much, but it melts my heart that DS is so attached to my MC ring. He's constantly rubbing it or asking to hold/wear it. He just seems to know how special it is to me without actually knowing what it represents ♥️
Rant: I love Tea clothing. They had a 48hr sale going on yesterday and today and I got all excited to buy things in size 7 at a price that won't make me cry if DD1 deems them too uncool to wear.
...well of course the website got all wonky and when I tried again later in the day they had like 4 items I liked in that size. Boo.
I didn’t think MUD right away, but it did seem unbelievable if you are really trying to get an appt. No OBs office is going to be up for the liability of not answering a pregnant patient in need. I just thought potential laziness or victim mentality.
