I will say we have a credit card that gives 2% back to a 529 account. I throw daycare and every day expenses on that— at this rate, college will be paid for 😂
whoa that is awesome - what card is this?? I think our DC charges a % if we use a CC but I am not sure how much. Might be worth doing if it was only 1% and a card gave 2% back to a 529 though!
@cmbt2 Thanks, that's a good point. Logically I know that's how they classify them. It's just hard to justify taking something like that, you know? I might have to give in though, because they really are getting problematic.
@jenferlee82 what migrane med did they give you? I do understand the scare of class c however your doc knows the rsk:benefit. If a dose of EM doesn't touch it, then take the RX. And just and FYI headaches respond best if treated withing the first 30 min of onset.
@prpl11butterfly It's a generic Imitrex I think, I haven't picked it up from the pharmacy yet. You're probably right, I should just take the excedrin when I need it. I suppose it's better than spending half of my days in bed miserable.
@jenferlee82 that is the same med I am on I've been on it for years. OB okayed it for this pregnancy as well. I have several nurse friends from my first BMB and they have reiterated over and over that the risk is very low.

It’s through fidelity. We’ve had it for years now, but I think they still offer it. They also have ones that put the money into an IRA
@jenferlee82 can you schedule an appointment with your endocrinologist to discuss??
Yep I have a call in to his office this morning to see if they want me to come in. I'm a bit worried that my OB doesn't know what to do to monitor the tumor so figured it would be good to talk to the endo directly just to be safe!
We did a SM announcement cause my mom was getting anxious not being able to tell anyone 😂I had mostly positive feedback, but a couple comments I decided to be snarky back to 😂 oh well, they don't like me living my life they can delete me🤷🏽♀️

what were people being snarky about??? A pregnancy announcement seems like a weird place for someone to get an attitude! Glad you defended yourself.
Childcare costs in my city are some of the most unaffordable in the nation and supply does not meet demand so wait lists are ridiculous. It costs more for a year of daycare than it does for a year of tuition and fees at our most expensive state university. It’s really, really frustrating.
We haven't announced on SM yet, and might wait for our first wedding anniversary on May 5. I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm still living day-to-day hoping everything is okay with this pregnancy (PGAL, even though everything seems perfectly normal right now).
My current struggle is trying to get fully moved out of our old house. We moved into this one on Valentine's Day, but we haven't even listed our old house yet. It's so much work driving half an hour there to pack things up by myself while DH is at work. First world/champagne problems, I know, but it's been a struggle. 🤷
@longhairdntcare Cause my 2 older are 18 months apart and this one will be a few months shy of 3 years younger. I have alot of judgy family, "can you afford this" "is this what you want" we have had some tough times in our 5 years but we've always made it through and only a few people have had to help us. The people that were snarky are cousins of mine who have husband's that make good money and are still constantly complaining about being broke 🙄 we don't make a lot but we get by just fine. We rent our home right now and probably will have to rent a bigger place til at least tax time next year but that's fine cause neither of us wants to stay in Illinois anyways.
I’m so relieved to hear many more of you having the disappearing bump, I’ve been anxious about this the past week. @elle-0409 I hated the belly band, in general though pants feel so insecure when not buttoned it makes me really self conscious. Why I moved into my maternity pants so quickly.
We found out today that after two wonderful girls, our third baby is a boy! Our girls were ecstatic and I keep watching the video of them finding out over and over. It was such a happy day!
Ps. I’m being a snowflake because I’m practically the last person on this board to find out and I’m pretty sure no one reads the “announce your baby’s sex” thread anymore.
Idk about others, but I'm still definitely reading the sex thread. There just haven't been any regulars/people I recognize posting in there lately. Although, I have to admit.... I'm dying to know if the most recent poster in that thread did end up trying the ramzi method, or if our snark encouraged her to go straight to a blood test 😂
I have to proctor a ~3 hour test today, but this week is when my bladder decided to realize I am pregnant and fill to bursting every 20 minutes. Wish me luck!
DS2’s 2nd birthday is in two days, and I’m having a ton of feels about it. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been pregnant both times my kids have turned two, but I’m finding the second birthday to take such an emotional toll whereas I was pretty meh about the first ones.
@steminist Good luck to you and your bladder today!
Anyone here an expat? (I think you are, @grapeskittles4lyfe) I just found out that my husband and I might be relocating to China for a year, maybe a year and a half. It wouldn't be until after the baby is born, but she will only be a few months old. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know there are financial pros such as not having to pay rent and getting a per diem (this would help us to pay off debt and get a house when we return to the States). However, there are many cons as well. Has anyone else relocated internationally (with or without a newborn) or have any words of wisdom?

sounds like they need to mind their own business! I can't believe they would post about finances/etc on your SM announcement!! Even if they were legitimately concerned and wanted to talk to you about it, SM is definitely not the place. Hope they didn't spoil your excitement of announcing.
Ugh on daycare costs. DD is currently in an in home daycare and I am looking to switch her to a bigger place ASAP but everywhere is so much more expensive than what we’re paying now. But honestly, I need somewhere with better communication so it’s worth it.

I totally feel you on this. We are currently on our second daycare (a well known/respected 'chain' now). Her first daycare was much cheaper, but after some time there we realized they had MAJOR flaws. To the point that her last day was completely unplanned and I simply walked out and told the director we wouldn't be back. Then called the state and filed a formal complaint so they would have to do an investigation. It was definitely hard to bite the bullet of the more expensive place, but at the end of the day, nothing is more important than her safety and happiness. So definitely well worth it, IMO.
Home daycares are so much more affordable, but they just make me so nervous. I am sure there are plenty of good ones, but you just hear horror stories about them that make it hard to trust. I think my issue with them is the lack of oversight and accountability that you would get with a daycare center.
We’ve had it since 2014 and never had an issue. I’ve never gotten a late fee for missing the time cut off (provided it was meant to be paid that day), we’ve had a few fraud instances that they fixed immediately, and even upping the credit limit is super easy.

I think this really depends on where you are. I'm in MA and the state is ridiculous about mandating home daycares. When DS was 4m we opted out of rice cereal for him. Totally legit thing to do and well within my rights as his parent. HOWEVER the state told our provider that we needed to get a note from his pedi that they supported my decision and if I wouldn't provide that, she HAD to give it to him even though I said no. All because the state guidelines say that's when they should start having it. I have a list of other ridiculous things but that's the one that has pissed me off the most (obviously since it's been 3yrs and I still seethe about it 🤣)
That is crazy!! We have an in home daycare my friend runs and my kids absolutely love her. Even in our smaller area, daycare rates are still crazy. If I switched to another shift where I got a guaranteed 8 hours of overtime, that overtime would literally pay for my weekly daycare 😑 so we work somewhat opposite shifts. We only need a sitter 2 days a week thankfully. As for my snarky family, I don't even pay attention cause I only see them like 3 times a year. So they really have no reason to be that way🤷🏽♀️ I got pretty snippy back and no one answered me 😂😂😂
@galentine yep! That's exactly why I decided not to do it. It serves no nutritional benefits. Its purely to keep them full and sleeping better. When we decided he needed more we moved right to oatmeal cereal because that at least had nutrienional value.
@prpl11butterfly, that is INSANE. I would be so angry. Also, isn't rice cereal an outdated thing and no longer recommended?!
It’s still recommend but varies. DS2 needed thickened formula (and reflux meds and hypoallergenic formula..), so he had rice cereal added to his bottles starting around a month. We tried other cereals before doing rice, but he refused to take bottles with them. I go straight to pouch purées at the 4 month mark (messy, but they learn to feed themselves pouches rather quickly)

I am pretty sure even this is not really a proven thing, honestly. But that is def why our parents generation did it I believe. I am pretty anti-cereal. And team 'wait until 6 mo-ish' for solids. Like with many things, I just don't get the rush to start things sooner (solids, ff carseat, etc.). Some people treat things like those as 'milestones' as if it means their kid is more advanced, when really it's just a parenting decision.
Seem to have caught a stomach bug. Ugh! Vomiting and diarrhea both and I know it’s not just normal pregnancy symptoms because this is the first time I’ve vomitted this pregnancy. 🤢 I have to miss a big client meeting today (luckily I didn’t play a major role in it, but still disappointing). Hopefully it passes soon.
