Weekly Randoms 4/15

Re: Weekly Randoms 4/15

  • My little peanut had a very rough night/morning. she kept getting waves of belly aches and nausea. But like the trooper she is she got up for me, brushed her teeth, got dressed. I'm watching my phone just waiting for her daycare to call me. I feel like she might just need to poop. Now i'm getting small waves of nasuea, and I'm thinking another cold is coming, i'm tired and my throat hurts. Boy I can't win, every two weeks its another cold or allergies knocking at my door.
  • Loading the player...
  • @Cass005 DS has yet another cold too. It feels like the never ending cold season in our house.

Why my toddler is crying today: there were no blocks left in his block bag... because he dumped them out. Like I said he’s not feeling well so I’ll give him a pass, but man the whining over the craziest things is getting tiring 😆
  • @steminist Hahaha that is 100% the plan!!
  • Was so excited to enter 2nd trimester today and starting to feel nausea wane then I vomited. A lot. 😑
  • Oh boy here's a fun one: So DH's stepmom LOVES to crochet. She got into it a few years back and is obsessed with it. Well guess what arrived yesterday? A package from them (they live quite far away) with two terrible felt blankets with added crochet borders, two scary looking crocheted hats, and the strangest little crocheted tiara with scary plastic "diamonds" hanging from it. You guys, I can't emphasize enough how ugly these things are! DH and I opened the box and just about died laughing. She's the sweetest woman in the world, so of course we'll pretend we love all of it, but holy smokes it's BAD!
Pics or it didn't happen! I wanna see the tiara after that description 🤣
  • @galentine Hahaha exactly!! The pics don't do the blankets justice. Not only are the fabrics scary, but the yarn used for the borders actually clashes really badly with the fabrics in person. They are something else, that's for sure!
  • @greenbean-2 That is an excellent point!
  • @melanier26 alriiiight woohoo! That’s great news 🙌🏼😄
  • Hey guys, I shared this over in the NIPT thread, but I'm trying to get the word out so I thought I'd post here, too. Warning about Natera Billing: I took the Natera Panorama and Horizon tests a few weeks ago.  I was worried about whether or not my insurance covered the test, but my OB said that the company has an out-of-pocket max price of $250, and I was comfortable with that.

So yesterday 4/16, I got an email that said it was adressed from "Support" with the subject line "Your Insurance Estimate." It turns out that email was from Natera, letting me know that my estimated cost, if I chose to go through insurance, would be over $1,500. Or I had the option of paying Natera directly and getting the lower rate of $500 ($250 per test). I had to pay that by April 19, or else they'd just bill insurance. That gave me three days. So I called my insurance company and confirmed that the Horizon test would not be covered, and the Panorama test is technically covered, but since we haven't hit our deductible yet, we'd be paying for it. So obviously, I'm going to pay Natera directly to get the better price, but it sucks that it won't count towards our deductible.

I just thought it was so sleazy that a) they only reach out via email and not with a call or paper bill, b) the email was so nondescript, being from "support" regarding "insurance estimate." I almost didn't open it because I thought it was spam trying to sell me auto or life insurance and c) worst of all, they give you three days in which to decide and pay them, otherwise you're on the hook for the full amount. It's like a shakedown. And what if this had ended up in my spam filter? Or what if I'd been on vacation or something when this email came in? I'm definitely going to complain to my OB's practice about Natera. Not everyone is able to pay a $500 bill out of the blue on such short notice. Not everyone has the time to call their insurance company and sort out what the cost would be through insurance. Hell, a lot of people don't even check their email that often. Anyway, I just wanted to pass this on, and warn everyone to keep a close eye on your email inbox if you had Natera tests! Otherwise you could be liable for a huge chunk of change.
  • @jenferlee82 oh my... those are precious! 😂  thanks for sharing
  • @malanier26 woo hoo!! That’s great news. Congrats!!

So...my peanut had a good day according to her teacher. However when I got home she had a 101.1 fever. Ugh! To make things worse hubby and I are starting to feel like we're fighting something. I just hope we all beat it by Sunday.

@melanier26 that's awesome!!! So happy for you

@Snaps816 geez...thamk you for the heads up. I told DH about it...he's not happy lol
  • @Cass005 Hope you all get/stay healthy!
  • @grapeskittles4lyfe I love hearing stories abt people who eloped. I totally loved my wedding, but there is something so romantic about just eloping. ❤️ And then, yes, party after!!
  • @galentine Seriously! The only time I'm not tired all day is if I get 8.5 hours or more sleep. And that is quite the rarity, so I'm basically tired all the time. Still waiting on the "second trimester surge" over here!

This surprise billing is why we've been hesitant to get any genetic screening done.

We've been told "Your insurance should cover it, but we won't know until we process it"

    uhm, no thanks.

I'm glad you were able to pay the cheaper price and that you caught the email in time!

  • @jenferlee82 Man. I have recieved a few crocheted items that I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be. I couldn't even send a courtesy picture. MH and I turned them every which way and never made sense of it.
  • @ineedsixeggs Oh boy, I can't even imagine. My SIL on that side has a 7 month old and she told me she has a bin full of these kinds of gifts from SMIL. So I'm sure we can expect more!
  • I think my dress might be giving me away today. 12 weeks was around when I first notices my pants getting tighter last time. I have a picture of me hilariously using a Bella band when it's clearly not really needed because I was just so excited and eager to start showing. I think it's mostly all chubbiness being pushed out by a tiny bump, but it's there. It's not really a secret anymore, so I'm not worried, but now I'm wondering when students and coworkers will start asking.

this was me yesterday. I had a tight dress on and had two different co-workers who didn't know, feel confident enough to ask me if I was pregnant.

I have a friend who puts a lot of stock in the “girls have higher heart rates” (above 150) theory. I really just want to point out that DD’s HR has been hanging out in the low 140s, which she’s convinced means boy 🤣 I won’t (fellow loss mom that’s ttcal and now looking at IF testing), but it doesn’t mean I don’t want to point it out 🙈

DS was consistently 170s or higher, this wives tale has not proven true for any of my friends! This time the babies heart rate was 142 which has me leaning girl simply because it’s opposite of last time, even though I know it’s means nothing ha

DS1 was mid-140s but liked to have accels upwards of 170/180. DS2 preferred to hang out on the low end of 130. This one has been 130s-140s outside of one scan that put it at 170. I just find it funny how people hear a HR and go “definitely a boy/girl”

  • Would anyone be interested in heading up a product spotlight weekly thread? September BMB has done really awesome with this. They have a spreadsheet schedule with plans for what product will be spotlighted (spotlit? Lol) each week and links to the prior weeks' posts. I stalk them frequently for advice from STM+, but it would be cool to have our own threads too. I'd do it, but for some reason I feel like this would be a great job for a BTDT mom. If no one else is interested though, I can take a stab at it.

I know we had one similar awhile back (I don't remember the topic though...) and the diaper one @meagan-t posted today works in this category too. If anyone is willing to spearhead these posts weekly, that would be awesome.
