  • @doilycart welcome! I’m so sorry for your loss the ttcal thread has many supportive women there, as well as the rest of the board.

@peppyj9 Welcome! I hope your stay here is short!
  • @em719 Welcome! Those are the PNVs I was on for a while, but I have been marching through a variety of different brands since then. Who knows, maybe I shall return to those. Right now, we're using Best Nest ("we" bc I also make MH take his daily!) Congrats on yr recent marriage! <3

Also, hi to all the rest of you who are new this week! Looking forward to getting to know everyone more.

@kagesstarshroom Thank you!  If there's a BFN this cycle, then I'll be trying a new PNV, so thanks for the recommendation!
  • Welcome @em719! If I'm not mistaken I think a lot of us are in the 35+ age category. You're in great company! :)

@bluebirdbluebird - re: PNV, finally someone else said it so I didn't have to be the first! Thank you. :D Totally thought that and still think it when I see it!
I'm on the east coast too and my SO and I are around your ages! I'm 35, he is 40.
  • @bluebirdbluebird welcome! I was confused about PNV too! It's not in the list of acronyms (I think) so I totally get it

@jandawg welcome! That's awesome that you inherited some great landscaping! When we bought our house the lot is nice and large but everything was overgrown and ugly. Like 3 foot tall thistle weeds ugly! It's come a long way but still needs lots of love 🙂

@chellisam please share pics of Wilson if you're
comfortable with that. Westies are one of my favorite dogs 😍.
  • @chellisam Hey! I remember you (or more accurately your profile pic). Welcome back!
  • @chellisam he looks so sweet. I wanna snuggle him haha.
  • @chellisam Hi! I am a poet! Cool to have another creative writer on the boards. I thought about going into copywriting for a bit, though copyediting is more my jam. I'm sucking it up in a PhD program now, hoping to land a TT job somewhere--we shall see.
  • Welcome @johopingtobemummy! I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. It sounds like your mother is so lucky to have you <3

  • @johopingtobemummy - Welcome! I also turned 35 recently and it was definitely a weird feeling to turn that age we've all always heard about re: fertility, when I'm trying for my first! But yeah there are several people 35+ here with SO's in their 40s, so you're not alone!

I'm so sorry about the loss of your father, it must be hard to see it have that effect on your mom.
  • Ages (you and SO): me 25, husband 30

How many months have you been TTC?: On 4th cycle now (I am on CD 5)

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: Exciting development, I recently bought an Ava bracelet secondhand. I am tempting, using OPKs, checking CM/CP, BD-ing, taking a prenatal and recently added a vitamin B Complex, as well. I also follow a Paleo diet.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): Hi! *TW* I have a 2 year old daughter, born Jan 2017. My hobbies are cooking, yoga/working out, and crafting. Shortly after my daughter's birth, I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's, got put on Synthroid, and continued on with my life. In June 2018, I decided that I was sick of feeling so fatigued and hated what I saw in the mirror. I did some reading & researching and realized that with an autoimmune disease, a diet/lifestyle change needed to occur. I decided to do a Whole30 and then I continued on with a Paleo diet, and I lost 50 lbs. In Oct 2018, my husband's job moved us from Tampa, FL to the UK. Once we got settled in the UK and found our permanent home, we decided to start trying. I also decided to read Taking Charge of Your Fertility recently and I was looking at my TTC data on Fertility Friend..... I am having short luteal phases. Or I am ovulating too late in my cycle. I am at a loss about what to do!

    BFP #3 07/02/2020 Due: 03/10/2021

  • @nolemama24 Welcome. Your story sounds exactly like mine!
    *TW child/pregnancy mentioned*
I had my DD Nov 2016, had a lot of issues after, fatigue and weight gain being some of them. Tried working with my PCP to test my thyroid from June 2017-Jan 2018, she said it was fine. I did a couple Whole30s in that time and it only made my thyroid symptoms more clear and not bogged down by all the other stuff. Finally saw a functional medicine practitioner at 18 months pp (May 2018) and was diagnosed with low sex hormones and hypothyroidism on it's way to becoming Hashimoto's (TGAb were slightly elevated, TPO antibodies were fine). Got put on NDT since I have low FT4 & FT3, progesterone cream, and went 100% gluten free (gluten molecules can mimic your thyroid and can cause your body to attack your thyroid if you have Hashi's). Here I am a year later and finally feeling myself again.

  • @shannie36 Have you been to see an RE yet?  If not, I would suggest making an appointment ASAP.  Even without taking age into account, the standard is to do fertility testing after 1 year of trying.
