Along with all the little boy penis stories...my nephew said to my sister in law, “You’re so lucky mommy” and she asked why and he said “You’re a girl and don’t have a penis that goes up” 😆
Not sure if this should go in the Question thread or here, but I'm already typing so...
Since the Rock N' Play is now being advised not to use for babies over three months or if they can roll over, is anyone still intending on purchasing or using for your LO? When I had started to think of baby stuff that I didn't get for DS but might want, the RNP was definitely one of the first things on my list. I want to find something that LO can sleep and stay in during the day while we are downstairs. I guess I could use my old MamaRoo (if I can find it and it's still in good condition) or a bouncer (ehhh) or maybe a getting a different swing, but meh... If you have any other ideas, I'm totally open to it.
ETA I just don't see the use of purchasing the RNP is the potential maximum use would be 3 months
Could you borrow one from a friend who's not using theirs or get one used? I got mine from Kid2Kid for like $15 and it was so worth it.
I second getting as much baby stuff used as possible. Swings, RNP, bouncers are useful for such a short period of time that they are usually still in pretty good condition after just one kid (or even after several kids). Most of the fabric pieces come off and are washable. Also, different soothing things work better/worse for different babies, so why spend a ton of money on something that might not even work for you?
This goes for clothes too - they grow so quickly the first year that sometimes they’ll wear something once before they grow out of it.
Most of our clothes and early baby gear (like swings, bouncers, etc) were hand me downs from friends and relatives. We’ll pass them along when we’re done with them.
@greenbean-2 I whole-heartedly agree about second hand clothing and most baby gear. Most of DS' clothes are from my nephew, and it has been awesome. We have definitely had a supplement some items but for the most part were pretty set.
The one thing I would never buy used is a car seat.

I caved and ordered new bras on amazon. I have mine from prior pregnancies saved, but I dropped a band size so they weren’t the most comfortable thing. The upside is the new bra makes my not so perky mom boobs look fabulous lol
Last night we read the Marlon Bundo book for bedtime. At the end, the two boy bunnies have a baby which prompted questions from my 8 year old about how two boys can make a baby. I explained that there are lots of ways to make a family including adoption, fostering, etc (I briefly explained surrogacy but said we could talk more about that after his little brother was in bed).
This led to both boys “remembering” that babies are born into the world via vaginas. My 5 year old gets a little twinkle in his eye, covers his mouth and whispers “Did you pee on my face when I was born?”
Did everyone see that all RNPs have officially been recalled? The stories I had previously read sounded like the incidents were from babies who shouldn’t have been using the RNP anymore, but the AAP pushed for this recall so it sounds like there might be more evidence-based reasons for the recall itself.

Yes, I just saw this too. I'm also surprised - the original reports made it sound like the deaths were due to improper use, so maybe there's more to the story that originally told.

They used to be marketed as a “baby sleep” device. I think they may still be so maybe that’s why?
@emily1052 Yes, I've been watching. That case in insane! I remember seeing the HBO documentary about this a while back. It's so unbelievable that no one caught on to the mother's abuse for so long, except for that one doctor in the series.
Found out yesterday the guys at work are gossiping out of suspicion. Do I wait until 1 of them breaks down and asks or do I give the one who started it a hard time on Monday about starting rumors....🤔
@prpl11butterfly, are you ready to be out at work? If you're ready, it might be kind of fun to give them a hard time. If not, I'd just ignore it until you are ready to say something.
@galentine a handful of people know already. I'm not unwilling to be out (obviously baby is outing me anyway lol). Its just awkward because I rarely talk to the shop guys. It's a passing hi or hey, sign so and so's birthday card.
I feel like they may appreciate the hard time method though so I've been leaning that way. But..... how long would it take for 1 of them to just ask.... lmao

The guys outback have little to no tact. I feel like one of them would for sure make a smart ass remark at some point.....
So I think it's time I switch PCPs (newer and haven't really cared for her from the start). Had my yearly on Thursday. Go through all the things with the nurse. She documents my LMP was in Jan and congratulates me on pregnancy. FF to PCP. Normal visit. Checks all the things, feels around my belly. Runs all the yearly labs. Today I get a call. She tells me my cholesterol is high. I said " I'm 3 months pregnant, I thought it was suppose to be high in pregnancy". Her response..... "oh, I did not realize your pregnant, sorry sorry, ok bye". Did she not check my chart?! Did she not feel my enlarged uterus?! I officially have lost all confidence in her.....
@prpl11butterfly yes, do it! That’s crazy! I wish I had done that with my OB office last time- I came in for a NST for ICP (which required weekly NSTs, and the OB came in and asked why I was there. I was not bold enough then to switch but I wish I would have and if something like that happens again I won’t hesitate.
DH and I went out to dinner with my brother and his wife tonight. After finishing my meal I went to the bathroom and an employee was in there getting sick. I then watched her come out of the bathroom and start setting out napkins and cutlery on tables, refilling sugar packets and going into the kitchen. She was older so I think it’s safe to say she’s not pregnant. Ugh it just ruined my night and now I’m praying I don’t catch a stomach virus
I took DS out for a quick breakfast and to the mall to see the Easter petting zoo there for a little morning outting. Started to head home at around 10:45 and about 3 minutes from home heard snoring coming from the back seat and am now stuck in car nap jail. I miss the days if being able to transition him from car to house.
@prpl11butterfly Same here! As much as it sucks I’d rather let him sleep than risk no nap at all. I have been up since 5:30 AM and was really hoping to nap while he napped and DH isn’t around to help today 🙁
@geminigirl16 do you have an attached garage? I’ve been known to throw a baby monitor in the car and leave a window + door to the house open so I wasn’t trapped in the car (with the door to the outside shut) 🙈

Such is the reality of raising boys.

@PenelopeSnuz77 nnnnnnoooooo! Where are you that that is still happening?
@geminigirl16 my DS is always falling asleep in the car. When he doesn't transition well it's a disaster.
@PenelopeSnuz77 oh man, that sucks! One of the reasons I love living in southern Texas!!
