Re: April 2019 FETs

  • @mackorori I don’t have any restrictions? But I won’t be drinking alcohol or coffee. It’s hard to avoid caffeine completely tho... that is very strict indeed!

@aconklin214 I hope your period comes tomorrow!

@ellemarie7, @somewhereinnyc and @mackorori thank you. After so many failures, I get frustrated so easily.

Before going to bed last night, AF arrived. I emailed my RE and she emailed me back with clearance this morning. Next appt is next Tuesday. Hoping for a nice thick lining.

I have no restrictions regarding alcohol or caffeine but I don't drink alcohol and switched to decaf before my last transfer and never went back.
  • @aconlin5007 yay for being able to start! Hoping everything goes smoothly from here for you. It's really frustrating to have to wait, get excited and then deal with unexpected curveballs.

@mackorori I don't have alcohol or caffeine restrictions. I have 1-2 cups of tea a day and some red wine once in a while.

  • @aconklin214 YES! Awesome news!!

@mackorori my RE says absolutely no alcohol or caffeine once starting the FET meds...but I typically stop drinking alcohol about 30 days before a transfer date - it just makes me feel like I'm doing something to get my body as healthy and prepared as possible lol
  • @aconklin214 back in the game 🙌 !

Just finally got the cytogenetics results from my d&c that I had 2.5 weeks ago: mosaic tetraploid. I’m super relieved that this was just a random spontaneous abnormal embryo and hoping that April’s transfer of 2 embryos includes a normal.

discussed pgs on the remaining 5 but the double thaw doesn’t sound like a good idea in some ways.. it would also cost like $6k (!)
  • @dreamingofbabyb Welcome! I've added you to our spreadsheet :) FX for a FET in April!

@aconklin214 Excellent news! Glad you're back in the game!

@mackorori I was never given any instructions regarding alcohol or caffeine. Like, those two words weren't even brought up. Interesting... Right now I drink about 2 kcups a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), but I was planning to cut it down to 2 half caf kcups per day after the FET (to equal one cup), which is what I did throughout my entire pregnancy. I didn't really think to do it any differently!

  • crookshanks10 It really is tough. I feel like through the stimming process I knew exactly what my timeline was. this feels so up in the air. I'm happy to see we're on the same sort of protocol - someone to go through this with :)

  • edited March 2019
@mackorori I actually haven't been given any restrictions yet - but I have definitely cut back on alcohol since starting this IVF cycle. I don't drink coffee or tea so caffeine hasn't been much of an issue for me, but I do love wine. Even though I wasn't given any restrictions, it just felt like something I could do that would benefit me and my body so that's what I did. If i get any updates further down the road, I'll update - but who knows. feeling quite in the dark these days.
  • Just thought I would check in, it’s hard to believe this is less than two weeks away. We had a estrogen and lining check yesterday, all looks as it should so we are still on the current schedule. Other than that these meds are making me tired, or maybe it’s the caffeine withdrawal...

Hope you all are doing well.
  • edited March 2019
@mackorori Yes, it's hard to believe our transfers are so soon! Glad everything is on schedule for you. I had my lining and estrogen check on Thursday and all looks well for me too. I have one more monitoring appointment this Friday and if all looks good we'll be all set for transfer on the 5th! And the estradiol has been making me tired too. It kicked my butt during my first FET too.

I did ask at my last appointment about caffeine and was told that they just find that women who drink a LOT of caffeine when pregnant are more susceptible to miscarriages. But that 1-2 cups is totally fine and to just follow that protocol after transfer. I've cut down to two 1/2 caff kcups a day for now though. I figured it couldn't hurt.

  • I just went for my post-ER appointment and to discuss next steps with the FET. My RE is suggesting we wait until the PGS results from this round come back to see what our options will be. We have 2 embryos on ice, but he's suggesting we wait just so we know if we need to another retrieval (if nothing comes back as normal) or if we can proceed. Also, my ovaries are still a bit swollen after the retrieval and I have a residual cyst, so he'd like for everything to go back to normal. So we're set back by about 2 weeks probably, so likely looking at a May transfer now :disappointed: I'm a bit bummed as I was super anxious to get things moving, but also understand I need to let my body heal and hopefully we have some good embryos to transfer from this cycle. I'll hang around here in case we get good PGS results and can move forward towards the end of April.

Just had my monitoring appt with BW/US. Lining is a 6.5, Estrace pills increased to three times a day and Estrace patches increased to 3 patches at a time instead of 2. Next appt is next Thursday with the Lipid infusion next Friday. 15 days to go and the cautious excitement has started.

@Tulips29 the waiting is the most frustrating part. FX your PGS results come back great and you can get started for a May transfer.
  • Thanks, ladies! I'll stick around here for a bit just in case I'm able to proceed this month and will be cheering you on if not!

    Hello Ladies,
I too had a set back. I had a fibroid (and a polyp that was removed) show up in my pre FET hysteroscopy so I will undergo surgery to remove it April 9th. Protocol is to start the Lupron day after surgery April 10th, and last BCP April 14. I am not sure if this pushes my FET to May as I dont know how long we take the Lupron.
    Wishing you all the best
    Me and DH 44
I am a genetic carrier using PGD testing
Dec 2018 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
Jan 2019 ER = 1 PGD/ PGS normal embryo, 1 carrier embryo, 1 no result
April 2019 Hysteroscopy to remove polyp and Fibroid
    May 2019 FET = BFN
    September 2019 FET = BFN
    Dec 2019 ER = 1 carrier embryo
Mar ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
July 2020 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
October 2020 Hysteroscopy to remove polyps
Nov 2020 FET = positive (little one due July 2021)
  • @Tulips29 and @pgdwivf sorry to hear about your setbacks- this process takes some serious patience. I hope the delays aren’t too long!
  • Judging by my cycle, it looks like my blastocyst transfer should be around April 20th. Anyone else know their transfer dates??
  • @aconklin214 EEK, you're getting close!! s
@pgdwivf I hope your surgery goes well!
@Tulips29 I have my fx for your embryos! Hopefully they both come back normal! (:
@somewhereinnyc We'll have transfers right next to each other! Mine is on 4/17

  • @pgdwivf sorry to hear about the setback, but glad they are able to do the surgery and hopefully put you in a better position for a successful transfer. Good luck with the surgery.

We are scheduled for April 4th, only a week away which is crazy to think. Next lining check is Friday, hopefully all is still on track.
  • Hi all! Hoping to join the group! I was first here back in 2017 (same time as @wifeinraleigh28) for my first IVF cycle. It was successful and now I'm back for #2. Our FET is scheduled for April 12th. @wifeinraleigh28 it sounds like I'm on the same protocol as you for now. Estradiol pills 3x a day until my next monitoring appointment on April 5. So far, just feeling pretty tired and have a headache from the pills. Hoping that passes but honestly, I don't remember from my first round! Wishing everyone so much luck and excited to be on this ride with you all!

  • Hi ladies! Just checking in. This month has both flown by but is also starting to take it's toll on me. I have my first appointment tomorrow for bloods and a PIO training (AH!). I still have no idea how long anything will be lasting, but I'm off BCP and just doing Lupron now. However the Lupron is giving me the worst headaches and i've been reacting badly to it. Anyone else have this problem?
  • @Isthisthereallife Welcome back! (:
@dreamingofbabyb Me! Same exact situation. I was hoping it was the BCP but it looks like it's the Lupron causing them  :(

  • @Tulips29 great news!! Also such a huge increase from your Jan retrieval.. did they change the protocol? From my friends who’ve done a couple rounds of egg retrieval, there seems to be so much variability month to month! I wonder if we’ll overlap and see each other in the waiting area in April ha! @crookshanks10 glad to have a transfer buddy! I’m starting to realize that almost everyone else here is doing a medicated FET. Anyone going au natural? I didn’t quite get a choice- I’ll be having a ‘natural cycle’ FET but with progesterone suppositories (yuck??) after transfer. Are you ladies planning on testing on your own or waiting for the beta blood draw? And any suggestions for keeping your chill over the cycle? Seems like most of us have had a transfer before.. after my first one, I tried to stay busy through some baking adventures (failed of course), museum tours, and movies..
  • @somewhereinnyc Yea, I'm surprised myself! So this retrieval I ended up doing a double trigger. I did the lupron/hcg trigger on time just like I did the previous month, went for bloodwork the next day and one of my levels was on the low side. So they told me to do another dose of both lupron and hcg asap and the retrieval was the following day. So maybe adding more of the trigger got those eggs to maturity? That's the only thing I can think of, haven't discussed with my doc though. I've wondered if I've seen you in the waiting room here and there lol...I'll be there tomorrow morning bright and early! I'm so anxious to move forward! When is your transfer again? I feel like it's almost impossible to keep chill until beta day. The 2 transfers I had previously, I promised my husband not to test early and felt like I'd be cheating if I caved. No matter what I'd keep busy with, the thought of beta was always on my mind and timed crawled at snail speed.

  • @Tulips29interesting about the double triggering! Yay so many good embryos! I think my actual transfer will be around April 19th and I don’t go to clinic again until around April 9th. For this natural cycle thing, they said they would start monitoring a a few days before the earliest I’ve ever ovulated and go from there.. I’m not complaining about finally getting a break from my blood being drawn every day tho!

@ellis1983 we are in exactly the same boat still! I transferred 1 from my fresh which resulted in a not viable pregnancy. On to April transfer (no pgs still) and they will let me transfer 2 (thank goodness bc this process just keeps dragging on). There were 6 blastocysts in total from my retrieval so after this upcoming double transfer, down to 3 left! Out of curiosity, do Brazil nuts taste good lol? I hope this transfer is the lucky one for both of us!

the kind of scary thing about the results of my d&c were that I don’t think PGS would have detected the abnormality. It was a mosaic tetraploid- which is not common and apparently not really age related. I think the PGS offered by my clinic only detects uneven numbers (like minus or plus a chromosome but not a whole extra set).
  • @somewhereinnyc yes we are!! This will be our month! Yes the Brazil nuts are tasty 😄

  • @crookshanks10 These shots are the worst ones I've had to do yet (mind you I haven't gotten to the PIO yet, so I bet that will change haha). Good to know I'm not alone though!
Had my dr appt this morning. Continuing on with Lupron for 2 more weeks until April 10th when I have my first ultrasound/lining check. Starting Estrace and baby aspirin sunday and those will go until my ultrasound as well. Still not clear on how long this goes for - everything is always - we will see at your next appointment...
But, on the bright side, everything seems to be going as planned so I guess that's good!

Wishing all of you ladies luck!

@ellis1983 Good luck Monday, will be sending positive energy your way!!
  • @ellis1983 so close, exciting!! All the best of luck on Monday!

@somewhereinnyc this FET process is all new to me so no idea how I will deal with waiting. Hopefully just trying to keep busy will work. I suspect I’ll test either the day of or before my beta, I just need to know something one way or the other going in to get the blood draw.

Hi All. I'm new here. I will be starting my FET in April. I have an appointment next Wednesday to do bloodwork/ultrasound. I am super excited to finally get this process started after all the disappointments we had since starting this process last June. We are using donor eggs.

I wish all of you ladies good luck!!!
  • @wifeinraleigh28 glad to hear the appointment went well!

@rondah28 welcome, all the best for a good process.

Lining check yesterday was good, 10mm and bloodwork as should be so and we are still on track for the 4th. There was a minor scare as they saw what seemed to be a very small cyst in my lining, but the RE looked at the images and has no concerns. I start progesterone suppositories and medrol tonight and PIO tomorrow AM.
  • Hi everyone! I started my follistim Tuesday night 75 dosage and deoxycycline twice a day since then too. Went to the doctor this morning for blood work and ultrasound.
Stay on follistim 75 and deoxycycline
Tomorrow night start (garnirelix) powder and water mix together injection in belly prevents you from ovulating too soon
Every night each box consists 1 dose just like garnirelix
    328 estrogen
    0.3 progesterone
    3.4 lining
15 less than 10 on left ovary
10 less than 10 on right ovary, and a follicle size 11mm and lining was 3.4
I go back for another ultrasound and blood work on Monday morning.
I stem with follistim before the transfer to thicken up my lining and take deoxycycline for endometritis that was diagnosed last cycle.
I had my miscarriage start on 3/22 at 5 weeks 5 days pregnant. It was awful so I hope this is a success transfer and results in a healthy pregnancy.
my transfer will likely be somewhere from 4/8-4/13 depending on the lining.

I wish you all good luck and looking forward to getting to know you all!
  • Miscarriage started Friday 3/22 tissue at 8pm beta this morning hcg 14
Day 1 Saturday 3/23 bleeding and tissue at 4am
Day 3 Sunday 3/24 went to dr ultrasound and blood work due to pain from miscarriage, hcg at 7
Day 4 Tuesday 3/25 went in for day 3 monitoring, good to start cycle medications deoxycycline twice a day and follistim 75 dosage every night
Day 8 Saturday 3/30 went in for monitoring stay on deoxycycline twice a day and follistim 75 tonight and tomorrow take certride or garnirelix, follistim 75 and deoxycycline. Estrogen was 328 this morning and progesterone .3, Lining was 3.4 today, 15 less than 10 on the left and 10 less than 10 on the right and a 11mm follicle on the right. I go back for monitoring on Monday morning
Day 10 Monday 4/1 - I’ll update you all then
  • @italianmommy8 so sorry to hear about your MC. I remember you from the Feb transfer. FX this time everything goes great.

@wifeinraleigh28 and @mackorori awesome news. FX for smooth transfers.

My next check is the 4th. My lab work came back with a critical white cell count on Thursday (I've been fighting a cold) so this transfer is back up in the air. I had repeat labs on Friday but haven't heard anything yet. We also canceled doing the intralipid infusion. My RE originally agreed to allow me to do the infusion at home (I am a nurse and perfectly capable of running my own IV) and instead wanted me to do it in office. Unfortunately he only runs the infusions on Mondays and by the time he made this decision (Friday morning) it was too late for the pharmacy to get the meds to me on time. I am so thankful this is my last embryo transfer with this office. If this transfer fails, my husband and I will be switching clinics and trying again elsewhere.
  • Had my first PIO shot last night and I'm ridiculously sore today. I don't remember feeling this sore last time but maybe I'm just not remembering correctly. I went to an intense yoga class today (like I do every Sunday morning, but won't go after our FET for awhile), and I'm pretty much a vegetable now.

Glad to hear your appt went well too @mackorori! Looking forward to hearing how your FET goes on Thursday! How is the PIO going for you?

I'm so sorry @italianmommy8  FX for you this month! Adding you to our spreadsheet.

@aconklin214 That sounds so frustrating. I hope things start to go your way really soon. Hopefully you won't need to switch clinics (because of a BFP)!
