@sourlemon FTM here and I would definitely like to see a c section thread. I'm built like my mom, and my head was too big for her pelvis and I also never dropped, even after 36 hours of labor, so she had a c section.
@mrosek91 - Be my guest! I had only used the Search Boards function, but I didn't know if there was a better/more thorough way. I am pretty laissez faire when it comes to these sort of things, so have minimal internet stalking ability
@zamora_spin - I couldn't full dilate because of cervical scarring (from a LEEP 5-6 years before), so I hovered at 8.5 for like 6 hours until we decided to just go ahead and get a section. And also, DD1 was stubbornAF and was *barely* at -2 at that point ... now that I think about it, her big ol' head could've been the reason too! I ripped my mom (though the forceps could've been equally as guilty) pretty badly because of mine, so that would make sense.

It doesn't work on a mobile, but on the desktop if you click on a username it will take you to their main page, and then on the left there is an option to see all their discussions or replies. I posted the results of my stalking in the spoiler of my previous post.
@mrosek91 - Thanks! I swear I saw a snippet of that screenshot, but it kept disappearing and I didn't realize you had posted it in a spoiler. Sigh. I'm such a n00b.

@olivemomma Thanks. I’m so not worried about that.
@MamaK225 I’m not sure where she went and reached out a couple of times. Hopefully what I think might’ve happened didn’t.
Lol you should wear something Pats too! My husband is thrilled. When I told him, he says, “Do you think I should send a Tweet to Tom Brady about this?” He says things like that throughout the year. If he is cheering for another fb team, he’ll be like, “Please don’t tell Giselle about this. I don’t want Tom finding out!” If he had the same birthday, I’d never hear the end of how he is a long lost brother. Total man crush.
@wabash15 My makeup prep isn’t anything fancy. It consists of shimmery lip balm, mineral powder, and clear mascara. I won’t wear anything restrictive clothing wise but I’m serious about not being naked on my bottom. It’s not gonna happen. You can ask my husband. I’m like Effie in HG. The show must go on! No pun intended Your last two sentences legit made me 😭
@thirdtimesacharm2019 It could end up being that I’ll need a c section. I guess you never know. Wearing hospital gowns sucks though. This is your third baby?
@zamora_spin That’s awful. I hope they feel like huge assholes when they receive your gifts.
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@suzycupcake I’m with you. I will have makeup on (my routine is simple—the foundation that’s in a compact, eye liner and lip gloss. Takes me about 3 mins to do but I don’t go anywhere without makeup). My hair will be blow dryed and straightened (I look like a cocker spaniel if I don’t) and I’ve slready found some cute labor gowns on Etsy where there is no back opening!!
@suzycupcake I’ll be glad to head up a monthly board on c-section/VBAC support - just say the word!
@mamak225 Neither one of my recoveries were *that* bad... and I’m usually a big weeny with pain: 1. Take the pain meds on a regular schedule BEFORE you hurt for at least the first few days to a week. 2. Get up and move as early as you allowed. It will be slow. It will suck. But the earlier the better. 3. You will have a catheter. I didn’t realize this before DS1🤦🏻♀️ (never had any other surgeries). DS1 they put it in before the epidural, DS2 they put in after the epidural. Two different hospitals at 6.5 years apart, so I’m not sure why it was different. REQUEST AFTER. 4. Pants are not your friend. No kind of pants, not sweatpants, not yoga pants, nada. Plan on living in dresses and nightgowns for at least a few weeks. 5. The scar will be ugly at first. Try not to look at it. It will fade to an ity bity barely noticeable thing eventually. 6. Roll out of bed and get help if DH or a nurse is nearby. DO NOT attempt to use abdominal muscles for a while.
@MamaK225 Oh, and I just remembered the best part about having a c-section. When you 13 year old son needs two measily little stitches in his hand (because he was being completely careless) and he’s squirming like a little B!#€$ you can tell him to man up since you have a whole abdomen of stitches because he wouldn’t turn his precious little head down. (That may have happened earlier this year 😂😂).
I wish I could have had SOMETHING on. For my planned cs (breech) they made me shower with this special cleanser twice - once the night before and once the morning of. It totally dried out my skin and hair and the rule was you couldn't put product (makeup, conditioner, lotion, etc) until after the birth. Ugh. So I would like to have tinted moisturizer and mascara on this time if possible lol.
I understand women not caring. I understand not wanting anything. I understand wanting a bit of natural looking makeup. I don't get it when women want to look like date night or they're going to a gala. *personally*

I put light makeup on before my induction and by the time I had my daughter I looked like a freaking wreck. My face was so swollen from the fluids no amount of makeup could help. Someday when we're all on FB I'll share the photo but it was not pretty despite my efforts.
Apparently my UO is that I don’t care enough to be dolled up at all for labor, delivery, or the first month (or two) after delivery. No makeup, hair in a messy bun or pony tail, allll the mesh underwear, and the comfiest clothing I can find.
FWIW, I think all of you who aren’t planning on wearing hospital-issued gowns during labor are flat out nuts. At least plan to have a couple gowns / outfits because one will likely get soaked with blood and amniotic fluid when your water breaks....and it won’t be pretty. The bare butt issue is easily solved by wearing two regular hospital gowns...one with the opening in the back and another with the opening in the front.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 I didnt have a special soap i had to shower with, but I had to shower the night before and was told absolutely no conditioner in my hair, lotion on my body, paint on my nails, or makeup on my face. The first thing the nurses did when I checked in the next morning was check all my nails and feel my skin.
FFFC: I also laugh at those thinking they will care about having their legs and lady bits shaved/styled for labor. With my first I'm pretty sure I stopped caring about my lady bits once I couldnt see them anymore, and I doubt I shaved my legs after around 30 week because it would leave me out of breath. I cared much less with my second and even less now with the 3rd! Some things just arent worth worrying about. But more power to anyone who actually wants to do that and does it. Just dont be too set on it and get disapointed if it doesnt go according to plan.

@thirdtimesacharm2019 I'm not going to lie, I look at pics from my first hospital stay and wish I had put a little more effort into my appearance. I'm not talking full on glam squad, but some light coverage foundation, blush, and mascara would have made a big difference!
My doctors office put in their pamphlet they give all moms at the very beginning not to shave down there for labor! Loved reading that!
i will say I did learn recently that physicians and nurses just DON’T CARE. I broke my ankle very badly last fall and required surgery. Well we know way too many people in healthcare and my best friends husband performed my operation. My husband knew basically everyone in the OR that day. I was beyond mortified as I hadn’t shaved in way too long and I’m pretty sure I was at least partly naked at some point on the table. I was more nervous about my hairy legs than the 3 breaks in my ankle. But they are so professional and see it all everyday. So nope if I haven’t shaved or groomed I could care less - plus it’s crazy hard to shave towards the end of pregnancy! I mean putting shoes on is a challenge.
If you want to do it for you or you don’t want your husband seeing you hairy (and props if you have gotten this far without that happening!) that’s great but don’t do it because you are embarrassed about medical staff!
@BigBadWolf12 huh, I didn't have any requirements for showering, or restriction for lotion or other product usage for my C-section... funny the different ways things are done... I figure they're going to scrub me anyways at the time of surgery...

@olivemama as someone who works in health care, I can confirm that we don't give a crap if you're shaved or not! Not even something we notice when we are busy helping someone
With DD I shaved quickly before going to the hospital, also pulled my hair back into a french braid and did very very minimal make up. My water had broken but contractions were stopped so I knew we had time. With DS my water broke and contractions were immediately 2 minutes apart with insane nausea. My only concern then was getting to the hospital asap...i cant even remember if I was shaved or not.
I will say I like to be shaved for labor because I hate body hair and know I won't want to do it for at least a week or two after. But that is for me and no one else. I do take make up to the hospital and put a little on as soon as I get out of the shower. I just feel super gross without it and it helps me feel more human. Hair is just in a messy bun or french braid, nothing too conplicated. Real, but cozy, clothes are a must for me as soon as I get out of the shower...I despise hospital gowns.

I had a water birth with DS and was in and out of the tub throughout labor— modesty went out the window as there was no way I was going to undress and redress every time I got in/out of the water... also I just didn’t give AF at that time... I thought prior that I would not want to be naked the whole time but honestly it didn’t even phase me while going through the intensity of labor.
I labored all night long and delivered at 8:30am so I looked pretty rough after delivery... fortunately, I was able to throw on a cute-ish robe, run a brush through my hair, and put on a little mascara before my mom and sister came in for their photo shoots ha
