@rmmorris that sounds like me exactly. Half a Unisom works best for me too - a full one gives me a major “hangover” the next day.
@ladythrice I agree that even with a Benadryl or Unisom, I will still wake up several times to pee/get comfortable but at least I can fall back asleep easily.
Thanks for the solidarity, all! I hope you all are able to get better sleep soon one way or another.

@peppersmith22 I had a first degree tear with DS and no pain yet. Hoping it doesn't start feeling painful!
Also no interest in sex at all. When I was pregnant with DS though, my drive was really high. I kinda wondered if the fact that I'm pregnant with a girl this time around has anything to do with it. Anyway, DH has been very understanding, and I appreciate it a lot!
@frenchiekinplusone so agreed on the apps! Everytime they mention how great my sex drive should be right now I just keep on scrolling. So annoying!
@lindsye I'm still having to take diclegis for morning (all day) sickness (ugh), so the 20 mg of unisom in it really helps me sleep, too. I ran out for a few days this week and those nights were awful.
Jumping on the sex train. It is so discouraging reading those app articles. Being a FTM I was wondering if something was wrong with me. Glad to hear it’s most women feeling the same way
Im still interested in it and my sex drive is still normal but pregnancy sex has kinda sucked for me. Its just doesnt feel anywhere near as good as pre pregnancy... so that is starting to make me feel like I might as well just not. I feel cheated hah. Also yes to the increased kicks. LO is freaking out in there everytime we dtd so that is pretty distracting.
Any pro tips for breaking a 2 year old of pacis? We’re trying to transition to only taking it at naps and bedtime. He does this at daycare, so why he throws a fit for mommy and daddy is beyond me...toddler logic.

Have you tried the, "Put all your paci's in a box and wrapping them up and giving them to a baby who needs them" routine? Bonus points if you have a friend with a baby that you can actually have your 2 year old give it to the baby. It seemed to work okay for my kids. We played up what "big kids" they were and how proud we were. And how only big kids get to sleep without a paci. They totally bought it.
There were still some tears and a few nights of limited sleep but after a few days they forgot about the paci's.
@fancybelmont thanks! maybe I’ll try some variation of that.
We have been doing the “pacis are for babies, you’re a big boy” thing but I started to see him take it in a negative direction- like he suddenly wanted to sleep in his crib again and other things that are “for babies.” So we’ve backed off that because I don’t want him to have a negative view of being a big boy. Now we’re trying “pacis are for bedtime, do you want to go to bed or do you want to play?” It seemed to work better for a few days but now he’s ignoring it more often than not.
@lindsye Add me to the insomnia club. It's been happening a few times each week. I woke up around 2:30 AM this morning and felt wide awake until 4 AM. I moved to our downstairs bed and that seemed to help a bit.. wish I had some advice to give.. but just hoping you get better sleep soon!
What do mommas do about their lady it area? I have never been waxed but I am feeling desperate at this point. Can you even get waxed while pregnant? Almost thinking about asking my SO to help me out. Ughhh this isn’t helping the sex drive either. I feel like Chewbacca
Lol @babyclarke429 I have an electric trimmer with a guard on it (so it trims everything to the same length and won’t cut you), and I basically attack the situation blind. I’m sure it wouldn’t win any awards, but it does a good enough job to keep things respectable, I think.

@babyclarke429 I am extremely nearsighted, so I always just shave by feel in the shower. I mean, it won't win any up-close beauty contests, but It satisfies at least my hygeine needs. It's amazing how easy it is to do without looking.
Add me to the lack of sex drive. BUT last pregnancy I had some weird random laughing fits during sex and I really don't want that to happen again. It totally ruins the mood, but my mind would wonder and then I couldn't stop laughing.
@lindsye I have terrible sleep issues, even when not preggo. I typically take melatonin but stopped when I found out I was preggo. The first tri I was so ill, sleeping wasn't a problem. Doc said take Benedryl. When I asked about the melatonin she said I could take it but seemed more keen on the Benedryl.
@babyclarke429 I asked the same question with my last pregnancy and decided against getting waxed. I read if you normally don't get waxed it could be more painful because of the increase of blood flow to your lady bits. Plus, the first few times of getting waxed always are a bit more painful no matter what area.
I have to take the 3 hour glucose test since I have "slightly elevated levels" after the first test. For those who have taken this test, did your Dr. also require a 3 day diet of carbs and sugar before the test? How is that healthy for me or the babies??
@knuttyplus2i get to take the 3 hour this weekend. My doctor did not tell me to diet but i did make some changes. I ate very clean before getting pregnant and all that went out the window. Once i found out i failed i went back to clean eating bc i really need to shapeup my eating habits in general.
@babyclarke429 Electric trimmer plus SO. He just adds it too his list of new responsibilities along with painting my toes and putting lotion on my lower legs. Definately looking forward to being able to reach my lower extremities again.
@babyclarke429, I’ve been getting waxed during pregnancy. While it is a bit more tender than usual, it’s honestly NBD for me. I’ve been going about every other month for about a year now though. It’s my one high maintenance habit that I’ve allowed myself. It is one of those things though that they say you get the most benefit from if you keep up with it. Last pregnancy I just used an electric trimmer. It wasn’t perfect, but did the job.
@puddlewonderful, DS was our only paci user (so far...) and he only ever used them at naps/bedtime so ditching the habit was rather uneventful for us. We just took them away around 2 years old, cold-turkey. DD1 was born already but she refused them so we didn't have to worry about him wondering why she got them and he didn't. He would ask for one at nighttime and look for them but he quickly adjusted. DH would usually cuddle him to sleep while I was putting DD1 down.
DS: EDD, December 19th, 2014. Born, December 19th, 2014! DD: EDD, July 18th, 2016. Born, July 19th, 2016!
@knuttyplus2 My doctor didn't give me any specific diet before taking the 3-hour but did tell me to limit sweets. Otherwise I was able to eat normally.
I have been experiencing ongoing issues with pelvic pain for a few weeks now. It really flared up when my in-laws were in town and we were doing a TON of walking/sightseeing. It has gotten a bit better but it actually feels more like a burning sensation now.
ZERO sex drive and the pelvic pain doesn't help in that department what so ever. ETA- My husband read some of the "What to expect when you are expecting" book and totally thought I was going to turn into a little horn dog while pregnant. Sorry DH... that's a nope.
@babyclarke429 I get Brazilian Waxes every 3-4 weeks and have the entire pregnancy. There isn't any reason for why you can't BUT if you haven't already been getting them done regularly I WOULD NOT suggest it. I almost blacked out the very first time I got a Brazilian and I couldn't imagine going through that first time again while 6 months pregnant.Getting them done now is like nothing but that first time experience is
This has probably been asked before, but is anyone else anemic? I had a pregnancy panel done yesterday and I am quite anemic. I just started the SlowFe, and I am worried about constipation. (Which I’ve had any other time I’ve taken iron supplements)
@Puddlewonderful. We've been doing the pacis are for bed time with my ds2. He'll be two at the end of April. His dentist told us his teeth are already affected and we should ditch it asap. It's hard cuz he loves it. And now instead of paci he's finger sucking.
I am too, @mikkimikey. I was actually anemic at my first appointment and started SlowFe then. At my last appointment, I was still mildly anemic even supplementing. It’s not abnormal for me to begin with and runs in my family.
@mikkimikey - at my OB visit last week I found out I was anemic. He seemed content with me eating more iron rich foods versus supplements, but now I’m reading that Rx iron doesn’t cause increased constipation. I will ask at my visit next week. Is Slow Fe Rx or OTC?

It’s OTC! For some reason, it’s always caused me constipation. I have been on and off of it since high school. We found out when I went to donate blood a couple times and couldn’t because my iron was too low
@mikkimikey my doctor just told me to start taking ferrous sulfate (iron supplements) last week because my hemoglobin was borderline low (11??). Didn't say I was anemic or anything but that I had to start taking the supplements. I started drinking Natural Calm (magnesium supplement) the day I started the iron and have not had ant issues in the bowl department what so ever. In fact it's better! OB said the tea is safe during pregnancy and anywhere I read online say so as well. In
@mikkimikey I also had low hemoglobin and was told to take SlowFe. I've been taking it for about a week and so far I haven't noticed any major problems. I second @jkatkins on Natural Calm - love that stuff! I take it at night because it can make you sleepy.
My MW told me that a LOT of pregnant women become anemic around 26-28 weeks because your blood volume majorly increases during that time and your red blood cells can't always keep up. That's why they screen for it during your glucose test.
Oye, has anyone had food poisoning during pregnancy? I've been traveling non-stop for two weeks and last night before boarding in New York to come back to LA, I had a nice salad in the delta lounge. I think something wasn't quite clean. I have had the most violent food poisoning ever, this morning driving to work, I had to pull over to throw up the water I drank earlier.
I have an email out to my doctor, but I'm wondering if he will ask me to come in to check if its Listeria.
@stalkinghorse oh no!! I’m so sorry about the food poisoning, it’s so awful even when you’re not pregnant. For what it’s worth, my OB wanted me to go in for IV fluids when I had norovirus last week only if it had been more than 24 hours since I’d been able to keep anything down. My husband raised the listeria concern, but in the research I did online it seems like listeria presents itself as mild, flu-like symptoms in pregnant women — not so much violent puking. Not sure if your OB will want to test for it anyway since you consumed greens, but hopefully that’ll put your mind at ease a bit.
@stalkinghorse girl it sounds like you need some serious R&R after all that traveling and now food poisoning. Ugh. I really hope it’s short-lived and that you feel better soon!

@stalkinghorse ask to be check for Ecoli. There’s a current recall for Romaine lettuce and it has cause a lot of problems in the US and Canada. Also, I had a terrible case of stomach flu when I was 30 weeks with DS and I had to be in the hospital for IV fluids and monitoring because dehydration caused me to have non stop BH. If you don’t feel better, I highly recommend to go to the maternity ward, they’ll take you in and some zofran and fluids will make you feel brand new!
@danjoly thank you for that, the salad didn't have romaine, it was all little field greens lettuces. I was SO excited to be eating some veggies. Lesson learned, I have no choice but to focus on tater tots...for the baby's safety...
@kmalls YES!!! I was strangely reassured by how violently ill I was bc it sounds like Listeria doesn't present quite so forcefully. Since getting to work today, I've been able to hold down a small bit of oatmeal and some fruit. But I'm planning to leave work early and catch up on the bachelor. So not a total loss of a day!
