The trouble is you can't take any of the decongestant type medicines like phredrines :( I have a cold and am taking acetametaphin for the headache but other than that I'm using physical ways to clean out my nose like steam and nasal spray.

@mrshoch2 if its rhinitis there will be little to no relief. I'm constantly sneezing and feel congested but it's just swelling from excess blood. If it is an actual cold/sinus issue, then unfortunately like Wintersong said, it's just non medicinal options.

    ETA for incorrect tag
  • @mrshoch2 My doctor gave me a whole list of stuff that's allowed. Definitely check with your doctor first, but here is what mine approves:
» Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) - avoid if you have high blood pressure OR before 13 weeks
       » Robitussin-DM
       » Ocean Mist Nasal Spray
» Tavist: D - avoid if you have high blood pressure OR before 13 weeks
       » Benadryl
       » Dimetapp
       » Zyrtec
       » Allegra
       » Claritin
       » Cold-eeze with Zinc

  • @galentine sounds awesome! Banff looks so beautiful!
  • @meagan-t we did a babymoon with our first. Just a few days trip to Branson but it was nice. I hope to do one this late summer/fall as well. Also I'm excited to get to know you better. I'm also from MO. One of my current BFF's was a mom I meet on my last BMB board and we ended up living in the same town.

  • We did not take one with our first, we knew I was going to be staying home after he was born so I think I was a little overly cautious about not spending money and starting to stick to a strict budget, which really did help! But this time we are considering going to San Diego or Sequoia national forest over memorial day for our anniversary ! If not that big of a trip we plan to at least go somewhere we can drive to for a couple days. We are in Ohio so Tennessee or North Carolina maybe

I take Xyzal. Past pregnancies I took Allegra (which is class C).

You can also take mucinex as needed after 1st tri.

...Unless you’re me and get hit with sinusitis constantly- I take that as needed throughout along with Sudafed PE (I cant take the regular stuff; it knocks me out)

We'll be going to Branson/Silver Dollar City in early June (I think that's when it is?) with DH's family. They go every year, and we join them for a couple days too. I love that area! It's so relaxing and quiet and just my speed most of the time.
    DD 10/2019
  • @aprosch my husband and his family used to take the train from Seattle to Vancouver every year for a weekend trip and they loved it!

I would love to do a baby moon, but we have 3 dogs and now that my FIL remarried someone who hates dogs, it makes going on vacation more stress than it's worth 🙃

For those of you on progesterone, when did your doctor say to stop? Are you going to wean yourselves or stop cold turkey? My doctor said 12 weeks, but I will still have some pills leftover so I might just take the rest until I run out.
my RE said until 10 weeks pregnant unless my OB says differently. And now I am realizing I totally forgot to ask her at my appointment this morning lol. I think I have enough to get me to 11ish weeks, so I will probably just stop when they run out.

Is anyone planning on taking a babymoon (or if you're a STM+, have you taken one in the past)?
we might. Probably Vegas with another couple in June/July.

eta - we did not take one when I was pregnant with DD.

  • @greenbean-2 Ooh that sounds like an amazing trip. We were hoping to do a trip similar to that but I think we’ll be sticking closer to home unfortunately
  • @kindbytealikat and @meagan-t DH and I are from Branson!  I love seeing that people like visiting there.  We now live a little north of Branson but it holds a special place in our hearts (plus we still do summers at Table Rock).
  • So I just decided to look up requirements for Catholic godparents (DH and I are Catholic) and I didn't realize that they are so strict. I know we're a long way away from that, but oh boy, I'm not sure right now who we'll even ask as our closest friends aren't Catholic. Anyone face a similar dilemma in the past?

  • @meagan-t We asked my husband’s brother and sister in law for our son. Luckily he has 4 siblings bc we may have to keep going that route!

My kids don’t have godparents, so this isn’t from personal experience, but I have heard of people having catholic godparents in addition to non-catholic ones. So, like, if you really wanted A and B to be godparents, you can have them still be godparents along with C and D who meet the catholic requirements. If I remember correctly, some areas allow you to have two of each provided one of each meets all the requirements. Don’t quote me on this though

  • @melanier26 Unfortunately none of my siblings are practicing and his brother is five hours away and converted. We may need to reach into his extended family. I wonder what people who don't have a Catholic connection end up doing... 🤔

  • @megan-t I was baptized in the episcopal church which has similar but not as strict rules.  One of them is that godparents are to be also baptized in the episcopal church.  My parents had a lovely couple from the church “stand in” as godparents since my actual godparents couldn’t.
  • I'm 7w3d with first baby. US is scheduled Tuesday but I'm starting to get worried. Other than sore boobs I have had no symptoms. Everyone keeps telling me I just lucky. Maybe I am but it's still a little concerning to me. Has anyone else experienced this

No symptoms is normal too :)

  • @megan-t We are going to Kohler, WI and doing a spa/golf weekend. I was promoted recently and my team pooled together and gave me a really generous gift card as a thank you/goodbye gift so we are going to utilize that!

We went to Michigan and spent the weekend at a bed and breakfast when I was pregnant with Fiona (my second) and didn’t do a baby moon during Rowan’s pregnancy (my first)

re: christening - Rowan’s godparents are both catholic but non-practicing. We had trouble finding their baptismal certificates and the church let it go. We aren’t really practicing Catholics either at this point.

I was exactly the same (though I would also feel queasy sometimes if I got too hungry but nothing crazy). Just know that it's totally normal and I had a great 9 week appt with a strong heartbeat.

I worried about it until I saw the US too, so I understand. I wish I had appreciated it more rather than assuming the worst now though.
  • Any third time moms here who nursed both times? I nursed my son until a year but he’s almost 2 (next week) and I’m wondering if my nipples are going to have to go through re-initiation to breast feeding 😅 I’m hoping it will be like maybe 1/2 as bad as the first time? Give me some hope haha
  • @Schumerator Was it any better with your 2nd? I’m curious as a STM
  • @Schumerator I nursed both kids over a year, and it was definitely easier the second time just because it’s a little bit like riding a bike. I knew how to problem solve more quickly and that helped, especially since both mine had tongue/lip tie and needed correction to be able to nurse. My nipples were also a bit easier to adjust the second time around - I have anatomy that isn’t favorable to nursing though.

My second was a less comfortable nurser overall, but every kid is different. I enjoyed it less with her because I’d have to re-latch her a lot.

  • @melanier26 haha that was my question! I’ve only had my son so I was wondering about the second time around :)

@PenelopeSnuz77 thank you! That makes me feel a bit better, I have thought about how it will hopefully be less stressful, because it did not come “natural” to us right away with my son, and I clearly remember him screaming and me crying our first day home from the hospital and feeling so frustrated and in pain.
  • @Schumerator Ah I read it wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had a rough go with my son too. I was in such pain for the first 6 weeks. Praying this time is better!
  • @Schumerator we had a really rough time the first time. Food allergies that forced me to significantly change my diet, repeated mastitis, tongue/lip tie, poor weight gain, inverted nipples and dependency on nipple shield, the works. It was awful! Formula wasn’t an option for us either because the only one that she could tolerate was $1200/month.

My my second was easier because I knew how to work through all of the same issues (although I’ll take action earlier the third time around). I talked myself out of seeking help early on and ended up with bad post partum anxiety that manifested like PTSD. We’ll all work through this stuff together!

I’m 7w3d too! And I’m not really having any symptoms either besides sore boobs! Last week I had a few afternoons where I was nauseous, but eating fixed that. And some days I’m bloated (which I can’t stand), but that comes and goes. My first appointment isn’t until Mar 27... so I totally feel you! Sending positive thoughts your way!
  • @megan-t I’m hoping we do a baby moon, but we are also saving up for baby! My birthday is at the end of July, so we might just make a trip and call it both a baby moon and birthday celebration! Right now we are thinking of Vancouver and Whistler BC!
  • @Schumerator I nursed both boys to 15-18 mos and I definitely found the second time to be easier!  Less pain (although engorgement still sucked) and I was prepared for what it would be like so I didn’t make so many “mistakes”.  (i.e. pump was assembled and ready to go before my milk came in, I wore Milkies to catch the “extra” while I nursed on the other side, etc.).
  • @quidditchcapn1120 that is very reassuring! So true about being ready for things. I also distinctly remember maybe a week after I had my son and I was feeding him in his nursery and I had both girls out and MH just goes “ummm... ummm... it’s coming out. You’re leaking” and the other side was just going crazy 😂 once I discovered the Hakaa it changed my life 🙌🏼

Hakaa is the #1 best thing everrrrrrr. I stored so much milk!

  • Either they didn't have the Hakaa when I had DD1 or I just didn't know about it, but totally getting it this time!
  • Hey y'all! Anyone not able to save bump pics on the app?
  • @allyson_28 I had minimal symptoms at that time and felt a little concerned too. They ramped up at 8 weeks 😂. Try to enjoy feeling good, because it could change without warning!
