How-To Guides: -How
to quote: Hit the "quote" at the bottom of the post you want to quote.
You will be taken to the reply box with the quote set up already. -How to tag: Add an "@" in front of the username of the person you are talking to. -How
to change your username: log in to TheKnot, hover over My Knot, and
click Account Settings. Be sure to log out and log back in after
changing your username. If you are having issues doing it that way, you
can email community@thebump.com and
ask them to change your username. Give them a few suggestions just in
case your top choice is taken. It may take up to 24 hours for the name
to update. -How to insert a spoiler box: click the drop down
list arrow next to the paragraph symbol (sixth from the left, next to
the emoji button) and choose spoiler. It will insert a grey box, and
everything that you type in there will go into the spoiler.
For the sake of board organization, here are some simple guidelines for posting threads: DO: -Introduce yourself in the "Introductions" thread -Feel free to start one of the weekly posts listed below if you don't see it started yet
-Check to see if a thread has already been started on your topic
or question so we can avoid too many threads of the same topic
-Post a thread that would apply to the entire community and doesn't
fall into one of the categories for daily threads listed below (Ex: What to pack in your hospital bag, baby gear, etc.) -Comment,
share advice, and show support for your fellow bumpies; this is a two-way
street, to get support, you must show it as well
DON'T: -Ask the community if you are pregnant, it is against TOU -Post pictures of your pregnancy test, this is also against TOU (there is a thread on the open 1st tri page for this) -Post a thread that asks a question only applying to yourself unless you suspect you may be going through a MC
-Get bent out of shape if someone calls you out for not following
these guidelines; if you expect to be part of a supportive board (which
we are), you need to be able to take the time to learn the ins and outs
of the board.
Here are some weekly/monthly ideas that may be
good to start with. We can always add to best suit our boards needs, so
please let me know if you have any other ideas! Per this BMB's
decision, anyone can start any thread on the day.
** MONDAY Weekly Randoms Meal Plan Monday Due Date Week Groups: - Group 1: October 1st-8th - Group 2: October 9th-16th - Group 3: October 17th-24th - Group 4: October 25th-31st
*We can also look into getting a spreadsheet going down the road when everyone gets more comfortable.
Once
we all get farther along, we will also have pinned threads for things
like ultrasounds, sex announcements and birth announcements. I've
copy/pasted this from previous boards, and it seems to be the way that
they are all organized, but of course we should feel free to tweak for
our needs! For example, some boards do weekly ticker changes while
others do weekly due date check-ins (ex, DD 1st week of Nov.). If anyone
has a suggestion for other threads, please feel free to comment a
suggestion. PLEASE keep in mind that there will eventually be a lot of
us on this board, and an organized board will be much easier for
everyone to use. If we can all keep the one-off posts to a minimum the
board won't be too cluttered to navigate, and hopefully we won't end up
answering the same question 2,000 times.

@b_1029 Oooopppsss!!! Thank you! And yes, get your butt over here ASAP!
@cmbt2 LOL! I'm definitely down for ticker change threads, too. Do we want to post one thread a week and then everyone can post on their individual ticker change day?

I’ve always seen it as one each day and then you post on your day? If that makes sense.
Eta- I admit, this method only makes sense if we have large group.
Its a weekly check in based on what day your weeks change over. For example, Everyone who changes to the next week on a monday would check in on a monday ticker change thread.
Edit: typos. I am a glutton for punishment using mobile bump and its a hot mess lol.
@annierose3 It’s exactly what @ceclarlinetlo said. A ticker change simply means that you have started a new week of pregnancy. For example, I go from 5 weeks to 6 weeks on Tuesday, February 5th, so my “ticker” changes on Tuesdays. It is our way of marking a milestone. 😊

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the ticker change threads would be, but they seem like they'd be redundant to the week EDD check-ins. Wouldn't both threads have basically the same info?

No, we would do one over the other.
ETA- right now, i’d say we are small enough to just do one board wide check in each week. Ticker changes and by week due date (which ever we decide) really only work with large BMBs, IMO. Granted, we’re only halfway through Oct due dates.
@ceclarlinetlo I like it. As of right now, we have "Fit Friday" and "Weekend Workout Warriors" threads scheduled (see above), but I'm okay with just doing one or the other. Then, we can throw in a monthly baking/crafting thread. Mondays are "Meal Plan Monday" so we can do recipes in there, too. The goal of having a schedule for threads is so that we don't have a million one-off posts and then the board is disorganized and hard to navigate.

I know some people are not, but I am 1000% staunchly pro-board organization lol. Definitely had a brain fart about Fit Friday and weekend workout warriors being listed above. Those are new to me from my last BMB. A monthly crafting/baking thread sounds perfect.
My previous BMB did ticker changes, which was nice but I remember some days of the week were pretty dead compared to others. Might work better to do the weekly check-ins (once we get more people), IMO.

We did the ticker changes too, but I love the idea of grouping by weeks instead.
@manillabar You read my mind!! We can start one this coming Monday and then people can post on their day, if that works. 😊
Seeing the board over the past 1-2 weeks makes me agree with you all ☺️ Ticker changes only work when there’s a rather large board 😞
i think we’re actually small enough to do a board wide check in each week 😞
I had been thinking this board seemed a little small so far. I know we are only halfway through the month but I feel like we had a lot more introductions by this point in my last BMB.
@ceclarlinetlo I think it feels same because there's a handful of us interacting on the regular, but probably a lot more lurkers who have intro'd but haven't jumped fully into the BMB yet. Also, maybe there might be an influx this weekend?

@stephanie123456@ceclarlinetlo I bet a lot of people are waiting until their first scan too. I suspect it'll get busier in the next week or so and hopefully we have a huge influx from TTGP!!!

How would people feel about a regular (monthly?) mental health check in? Hormones and the general stress of pregnancy can mess with your head, even if you don’t have a diagnosed mental health condition, and this type of check in was really nice in my last BMB.
Are we going to do a ticker change or week pregnant thread? I understand why it wasn't done earlier, but now we have due dates that run through all of October.
ETA: Reading is hard. I see it's in the works. Never mind!
Hey, ladies! Now that people are starting to do their NIPT blood work and will know the sex of the baby, do we want to start a Sex thread? But also, we 100% cannot call it that. In addition, now that we are getting further along should we start a Hump Day Bump Day thread next Wednesday? I know many of us are not showing yet, but some STM/STM+ might be. Thoughts? Feelings? Opinions? Did anybody get pie today?

@nnaelilak LOL! That cartoon is hilarious! I think some of us are kind of sticklers about referring to it as the sex and not gender of the baby, so I'll probably check past boards and see what they named theirs. I'm voting for "Let's Talk About Sex, Baby."

Hi, Stickler here. 🖐🏻
Sex is between the legs; gender is between the ears
My doctor has apparently adopted the more common vernacular and told me I could find out the "gender" if I wanted. I side eyed her pretty hard but kept on keeping on.
