Re: February Randoms

  • I have a work trip this week. It's in Denver, so still local to me, but I have to stay in a hotel since we have such long hours with meetings and events and such. I am going to pretend to drink so this should be fun. Also, I am getting my first professional headshots done this afternoon and I feel like such a boss! Hopefully I don't pull a Chandler and smile weird.

  • Im loving air popped popcorn right now. I may be taking it to work every morning and eating it for breakfast.
  • Loading the player...
  • All I want is some egg rolls, been thinking about them since last week. Might have to cave tonight but I'm really trying to be good. I have put on a couple lbs already. I always seem to gain the most 1st tri.
  • @dolewhipper Fresh popcorn is my absolute favorite. I admit I cook it on the stove in Ghee but it is close. I put Ghee all over it after too.. it tastes like movie theater popcorn almost... drool.
  • @janat1717 GHEE IS HEAVEN why didn't I think of this?! You're a genius.

Kind of in my feelings, I just ended a friendship with someone I've been very close to for years, and I've known her since I was about 4 years old. Long story short, she went through a pretty messy divorce from someone who I've personally witnessed be emotionally abusive to her, and I offered her and her children my home, financial assistance, and unconditional love and support continuously as she went through all of this, and I recently found out she was flat out lying to me about many, many things, all the while I'd been actively defending her to anyone who dared question her or speak negatively of her. I confronted her about what I'd discovered and she continued to lie to me, which broke my heart, so I told her I couldn't maintain a friendship with her because I didn't even know her anymore. She basically brushed off everything I was saying and started joking about other things so I ended the conversation. She's yet to reach out to me in any kind of way, despite actively posting about how amazing her ex-husband who she's moved back in with is (who also blames me for their divorce because that makes sense?), which I guess just solidifies that I made the right decision, but ouch man. A 26-year friendship just gone like that.
  • @klpv415 I'm so sorry to hear that!  You're definitely better off without her, but it must hurt to lose what you thought you had.  At least you won't have to deal with her stress during the rest of your pregnancy!
  • @klpv415 aw man, that sucks. You invested so much time and love into the relationship and then it turned out she wasn't worth it. Sorry that happened to you!
  • @klpv415 Im so sorry. I also lost a very long time friend a couple years ago. Regardless of how shitty they are, it still hurts. Take care of yourself and do something just for you this week
  • @klpv415 I'm sorry about your friend.  Losing a long term friend sucks, no matter the circumstances.
@themadcamel you get it, girl!!  Chocolate shake sounds heavenly....

AFM, I just took a lunch break nap in my car.  How can something so small be sucking so much life out of me?
  • @RedBreast35 I love that you took a lunch break nap! I can't wait for that magical 2nd trimester when the exhaustion is supposed to go away.
  • @klpv415 I am so sorry. Without going into a lot of detail, I had a similar situation w family so I understand how you feel. Being the victim of dv can really change a person and it’s so hard to watch. I am so sorry you are going through this. My hopes is that one day you both can rekindle the friendship, once your friend is in a healthier place

On another topic, has anyone seen the fyre festival documentary on Netflix? I about fell out of my chair at certain moments (with disgust). I’d love to hear people’s impressions. The organizer, IMO, is a total criminal and generally a disgusting human being! Anyway, it was a great 90 min distraction from m/s- highly recommend.

@themadcamel that could really hit the spot right now! Thanks for the idea :)

  • @rms924 I keep watching the preview of it, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I read up on it and I'm pretty sure my jaw was dropped the whole time. Insane!

I am so tired of the cold. I keep getting told it's going to get above zero, but I don't think these weather guys know what they are talking about. And it keeps snowing enough that it needs to be cleaned up. I'm fine with that as long as it's warmer outside so we can have fun too!
  • @klpv415 I feel like we could be friends with the same person.  Except my friends divorce wasn't final and she is calling it off.  Claiming that he is working on things yet everything she tells me is the exact same as it was before and the reasons she was unhappy.  Emotional abuse plays crazy games on your mind.
  • @rms924 what that guy was willing to do to get the water! I was shocked!

I can't focus any more today. I still have some time left at work but I have a migraine and just feel blah! I also can't wait until the 2nd tri.
  • @monkeysmom80 that was my response! I actually thought he was exaggerating and I had my husband rewind - then I realized he meant LITERALLY!!

memes aside, that’s sexual harassment and I wish the promoter could get charged with that on top of everything else!

  • I really need a cheeseburger and a malt now after reading this.
  • I want a chocolate maaaaalltttt!!!

@klpv415 I’m so sorry about your friend! How awful! And what emotional timing with everything you have going on right now too. I’ve had the same best friend since I was 3 and I can’t imagine our friendship breaking up :-( I’d be so destroyed!

  • I changed the randoms title to monthly since we’re pretty small.

What’s going on with everyone this week? It’s cold here and I had ice on my windshield again! SoCal is not supposed to be this cold, lol!!
  • It's 80 degrees and beautiful here in Central FL, butit's supposed to rain tomorrow and then be in the 60s on Wednesday so that'll be fun. I'm dying of boredom at work because I somehow got a light schedule today and there's nothing to do. I'm probably about to go take a nap in my car on my lunch break haha.
  • Sorry I haven't been active lately! I have been working like a maniac getting ready for my performances and they start tonight!!! Little nervous but that's to be expected. Anyway, I'm hoping I will be a little more active since I won't be practicing as much.

I'm pretty upset by the weather here. The weatherman was originally saying we might get up to 14 inches of snow, and in the pacific northwest that is a definite rarity. Well, we got some southern wind or something and now it's in the mid-40's and is supposed to just rain like crazy for the next few days. This was all supposed to be snow and I am seriously bummed out.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • @lillywonderland oh man, ice AGAIN? Bummer! Is it supposed to warm up soon?
@klpv415 I'm so jealous of your weather. My ILs live in FL during the winter/early spring. DH and I are going to visit them at the end of March. I can't wait to be in the sunshine!
@aliciac2008 that's a lot of rain! Is it true that it's always rainy in the pacific northwest or is that just something that's played up in the media? GL with your performances tonight!

AFM, I'm pretty mad at my mom right now. I set up a dinner with my parents and my aunt on Saturday to tell my aunt that I'm pregnant. My mom offered to have it at her house so we could bring our dog and order pizza. We were sitting around eating appetizers and she goes, "oh I didn't put any brie out.. does anyone want brie? Madeline can't eat brie though..." I tried to play it off and looked at her funny and said sure I can eat brie, just bring it out. So then, like 5 minutes later, she brings out another appetizer from the oven and says, "this is organic. I'm buying everything organic to make sure Madeline stays healthy." DH and I are majorly side-eyeing her.  I decided I better hurry up and tell my aunt (I had a gift all wrapped up for her with a copy of our u/s) so I proposed a toast. We all stand up, and before I could open my mouth, my mom says that we're toasting DH and I because we're pregnant. WTF MOM?!?!?!?! She tried to claim that she forgot that my aunt didn't know, but there is just no way that's possible because I had just set up the dinner the day before AND I had told her about the gift for my aunt before my aunt arrived. It's like she just had to be the one to share the news. So uncool. Then of course it put me in a terrible mood because I just know she's going to be the most annoying grandmother. She's going to criticize everything I do or don't do with the kid. At dinner she kept offering me tea or fruit and I would politely say no and then she would snip at me saying she was just trying to be accommodating and then berating me for "acting like a princess."

That got really long, I'm sorry. She's just been constantly pushing my buttons all of my life and I hate it.

On the topic of weather, we got another snow storm yesterday and are expecting another tomorrow. That will be over 3 feet of snow in one week. I'm over winter.

On a separate note, I was incredibly lazy this weekend (dh was working) and watched this ridiculously stupid tv show on Netflix called Yummy Mummies. I originally turned it on for background noise while I thought I was going to nap. I somehow got hooked and it was awful. I do not recommend this tv show lol.

  • @themadcamel that's really irritating. I want to say her being annoying will go away, but my IL's are still the most annoying grandparents ever. I use it as an opportunity for all those snarky side eye comments.
@LJMoon6 I've seen the ad for that show. I watched it 3 times in a row wondering if it was legit 😆 it looks like a bigger train wreck than the Kardashians!

It's above zero today! And feels like it's above zero! Sadly, it's snowing and we are suppose to get another storm. Our city is still buried under snow from the last few storms, I don't know how we can handle another. I have 2 more diapers to fix for our daycare lady and I'm hoping to get them knocked out today or tomorrow.
  • @klpv415 lunchtime naps at work are the BEST!!  I may have taken two last week...  ;)
@aliciac2008 sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but what are your performances?  I hope they go well!
@themadcamel sorry about your mom's need to steal your news.  That has got to be so annoying!

It's snowing (maybe raining at this point?) here today and I'm one of probably 1/3 of the employees who actually showed up for work.  It's really quiet and kind of boring.  On a positive note, I think I'm starting to come out of this MS fog and actually ate a salad for lunch today!  Ok, I mostly ate the cheese and croutons, but some lettuce and other veggies snuck in there a little too.
  • @themadcamel ugh that sucks. My mom has done a couple things that are pretty similar, and it is so annoying. I haven't said anything to her about it yet (pick your battles, ya know). If you still have a lot of people to tell, maybe just pull her aside and reminder her that it is your news to share? My mom would flip if I did that, but maybe yours would take it better haha.
  • @themadcamel Ahh, that's so annoying with your mom. My MIL did a similar thing and told my grandma before I could tell her at her surprise 85th birthday party, but at least she didn't know she wasn't supposed to tell anyone (though I think that's kind of obvious to not go talking about it to everyone). I would think it was probably pretty clear to your mom that she shouldn't say anything since the whole dinner was centered around you telling your aunt. Ugh.

I'm not sure if the amount of rain we get in the Pacific Northwest is played up or not since that's all I've really known. I haven't spent much time anywhere else so all I know is this amount of rain. I will say that the rain is absolutely no big deal to us, and it is true that Oregonians don't really use umbrellas, and we almost never cancel plans because of rain, even if they're outdoors. There's a 100% chance of heavy rain from now until tomorrow afternoon and I'm still planning on walking to pick my daughter up from school.

@RedBreast35 I'm a pianist and I am playing for a production of Legally Blonde the Musical. Super fun, but super challenging music. We shall see how tonight goes.

  • @LJMoon6 I'm cracking up over you watching a show that you hated all the way through. I totally do the same thing. It's like.. I know it's awful but I can't peel my eyes away!
@bubsalicious @RedBreast35 sorry about all the snow! Apparently there's a snowstorm/rainstorm here possibly happening all night tonight. I'm so over it.
@kgg2241 my mom must be just like yours, because she would also completely flip if I ever dared to correct her lol.
  • I'm exhausted.  I started taking unisom on Friday for morning sickness and it's working but I'm useless. I made it through volunteering and grocery shopping and proceeded to lay down for 3 hours. Ugh
  • @themadcamel I don't even like these types of TV shows lol. I just couldn't stop! I've done that before with other TV shows (not as bad as this one) but I actually got through all 5 seasons of one once. It was awful.

Random question for those of you who order off of amazon all the time. I just don’t get it. I think we’re doing something wrong and I need your help. We don’t order very often off of amazon (maybe once a month) because almost every single time we do our credit card information gets stolen. I am honestly baffled how amazon is so popular if this happens all the time to everyone else. So that makes me think that we’re doing something wrong. Help!

  • @LJMoon6 oof, I’m sorry about that. It hasn’t happened to us on Amazon yet (and we order a sh*t ton from them) but it has happened to me on iTunes twice. I just switched to iTunes gift cards since I just don’t trust them anymore.

@themadcamel I’m sorry your Mom is a Thunder stealer. Hopefully she’ll stop (but it sounds like she won’t), so I say go ahead and tell her to mind her business and let YOU be the one to let whoever know. And tell her it hurt your feelings.
  • @themadcamel your mother!!!!

@LJMoon6 You're kidding! I've never EVER had that happen with Amazon. I did once with the Home Depot and it was a total pain in the butt to fix... Do you order a lot online?

@aliciac2008 Good luck at your performances!

AFM - I'm taking a poll... how desperate do you have ot be to take a tylenol? I've got this headache that started around 10am and have thrown all the non-medicated solutions I've got at it. nothing's working. It's already 4pm, do I don't have much more work day left to go but do still have to cook dinner, be nice to my husband, etc....

  • @nomangos23 TAKE THE TYLENOL!! Lol. Usually if my headache lasts longer than 4 hours I’m throwing meds at it. You (and baby) will be fine - many people take it daily in PG for sciatica pain and their kids didn’t grow an extra arm. (I kid, but am also serious - Tylenol has been extensively studied during pregnancy and is considered safe.)
  • @aliciac2008 enjoy your performances - I'm sure they will be great! I hope you are keeping the nausea at bay/aren't dealing with throwing up.
@nomangos23 My threshold for taking tylenol isn't that high for headaches (I don't tend to take it for other aches and pains) - I don't get headaches too often, but when I do they're bad and I'm a bad sport about them. I'd say half the time it doesn't do much, though (normally I would take excedrin).
@LJMoon6 ugh that sounds like a major pain to deal with.
    @themadcamel wow at your mom!
  • @themadcamel ughhhh I'm sorry! That would drive me so batty. She sounds very frustrating.

@LJMoon6 oh no! We buy something from Amazon every couple of days it seems. Haven't had anyone steal our info *knocks on wood*, but we have had one of the drivers pee on our house lol. Still a die hard Amazon enthusiast.

I feel like I have been a bit MIA! But have no fear, now that my work trip is done, I am back in front of my computer all day with tons of time to kill talking to all you lovelies :)

  • @aliciac2008 sorry about your MIL. You’d think that people would know not to spill the beans, but oh well. And that sounds like a lot of rain to me. I still do things in the rain, but it makes me super gloomy. I also can’t stand how some people drive in the rain. It’s a little rain guys... you’re not going to hydroplane if you go above 40...

@LJMoon6 what a bummer! I use Amazon almost weekly and that’s never happened to us (knock on wood).

@nomangos23 your Tylenol comment scared me for a second. I was worried I shouldn’t be taking any! I get pretty bad headaches, but Advil is the only thing that works. I’ve tried Tylenol but it just doesn’t do the trick. I was just telling DH he needs to put them in an Advil bottle so I can at least get a placebo effect going haha.
  • @nomangos23 definitely take the Tylenol. Obviously it isn't candy, but my Dr said it is often worse for you to unnecessarily suffer than to take some medicine. Baby will be fine.
