One more thing - someone may have already posted this, but you could also put something like "If you wish to bring a book instead of a card..." that way as the person above mentioned you are not DEMANDING that your guests bring a book, but are simply putting the idea in their head. I think MOST people would think to themselves "What a great idea!! Why waste $5 on a card that will get thrown out, when I can buy the baby a book, with a message that they can look back on and read some day" What a sweet memory! Every time I've seen this done, I thought the same thing - and I have never until now heard of anyone that thought it was tacky or a bad idea.
This thread is from 2009. LET IT DIE ALREADY. It's old and tired. Let it rest in peace.
Two reasons:
#1) It's one of the top Google Results when searching for the wording to put in a shower invite. #2) There is a large number of women who, while entitled to their own opinion, had to stoop pretty low and express it in a very offensive way. Thus it's a pretty charged topic, reading this post years later (6 years) I myself am extremely offended by alot of the posts against this idea as they're offensive to anyone who likes this idea, or even thought about it being creative.
Honestly I think this whole thread should be deleted by the admins and a new thread, or article with just the poem information should be created on the bump. At the very least the thread should be locked to prevent future replies.
I feel so sorry for the OP of this tread. Sometimes I can’t believe how rude and mean some moms can be to other moms. I hope the OG found a good poem for her invites and I also hope that Ballsox got her kid taken away from her for his own good...
Lol that woman is an ass. I think people prefer to spend their money on useful things for people - I know I would rather spend 5-10 bucks on a book than 5-10 on a damn card
