Re: Symptoms Week of 12/17- 12-23

  • @beccaneu i can empathize with your current situation. I was having the same issue about a month ago. I am already overweight (5 years of battling PCOS and having fertility treatments have taken its toll) and all of the weight is in my stomach and hips. I literally couldnt find any tops that looked decent, and i got so upset i wouldnt even look in the mirror let alone take any pictures at thanksgiving. Now my bump is a little bit bigger so some of the maternity tops i have look ok.
All i can say is dress for comfort and your bump will soon get bigger. And maybe throw a cardigan over any shirt you dont like 😀

  • One of these days I'm going to actually have a UTI and not know it 😂 I don't have a UTI. My horrible, terrible pain is *drumroll* round ligament pain. 🎉😂 So she recommended a belly support band.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds thank you.  I’ve been unfortunately striking out in finding a good pair of full panel maternity jeans so maybe that is part of the problem.  The only pair I have found are the insert panel kind and they are super comfy but are not giving me the best silhouette.   I’ll have to keep looking.
  • @beccaneu have you tried Old Navy? they have full panel maternity jeans and pants. all kinds!

  • @beccaneu I totally feel you on the negative body image thing. I feel really unattractive right now. I also agree with @eatinwatermelonseeds, get some maternity clothes. Even if you think you don't have enough of a bump, if your regular clothes aren't fitting right, it's time for maternity.  Wearing stuff that fits right really helps me, especially stuff that's more form fitting but has ruching on the sides, for example. The stuff that's more flowy feels more like a tent and sometimes makes me feel bigger. JMO. Hang in there, mama.

  • Yes @beccane - you are amazing! Your growing a human! Most people love pregnant bellies, so don't treat yourself too harshly thinking that everyone's judging you. I found some great inbetween tops at Old Navy that are not ruched on the side, just regular tops but longer and can stretch a bit. They've been great these past few weeks for the same reason you said-I don't have a true bump, but my regular tips just aren't fitting well. You're amazing and don't talk yourself out of it!
  • @justharrison, @hargis87, @sleepy33, @knarlytaurus. Thanks Ladies.  I had my anatomy screening today and actually finally getting to see the baby my body is growing really made me feel a lot better about my body as a whole.  I’ve also come to realize how much my body image has been tied to my fashion sense.  I’ve never had the perfect body but I’ve always know how to dress it.  No longer being able to wear the types of clothes I am used to and trying to figure out how to best dress this new and rapidly changing body is proving more a challenge then I originally expected.  I’m crossing my fingers that when I get to FL I’ll be able to find some more options for maternity clothes because I think finding better fitting clothes will go a long way.
  • I have a weird but actually kinda positive symptom? I think? And it may be my imagination, but I swear that my body hair is growing less quickly. Like, I can go forever before I have to shave my legs or pits. Is anybody else having that? I do not remember this from last time around at all. I usually have like a 5 o'clock shadow on my pits by the end of the day, and now it's like two days later and I still barely need to shave.

  • @beccaneu I hear you on the awkward clothes phase, it really does mess with your head. I hope you’re able to find some good maternity options soon! I’ve just been living in oversized shirts/sweatshirts and leggings. I’m finally getting to the point where my maternity clothes aren’t way too big.

Are anyone elses nipples sooo sensitive? Mine weren’t at all in the first tri but they are killing me now!
  • @aels12. Big old yes on the nipple sensitivity.  I don't remember it being this bad before.

Also, my shortness of breath is kicking in full steam.
  • @aels12 OMG yes to nipple sensitivity.  Out of nowhere it will suddenly feel like someone is tightening a vice on my nipples.  Also they are majorly sensitive to cold.
  • @beccaneu I went through the same thing my first pregnancy. I think the only reason I'm not now is because I was so self conscious postpartum that I'm actually relieved to be pregnant and not worry if people are staring at my postpartum pooch. Hugs, it's hard when your body does things without you controlling any of it.

    @aels12 YES.

I've been having what might be bladder pressure/pain here and there. I'll go to the bathroom a lot some days to relieve it and other days it's not even an issue. It's annoying. I may bring it up at my appointment.

On the bright side, my hair never gets greasy anymore. I shower every day but don't wash my hair every day. I washed it yesterday after a week because though it was 0% greasy, I couldn't remember the last time I washed it 😳

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I wonder if the baby is sitting / leaning on your bladder in strange ways. I had some bladder pain that Inwas convinced was a UTI a few weeks ago, but my culture came back negative, and my CNM said it could have to do with the way the baby was positioned 🤷‍♀️

Also, I'm super jealous of your grease-less hair. I can do 2-3 days between washings, which has been great because usually my hair is greasy by the 24 hour mark. I have ridiculously long hair right now, so not having to wash and dry it so frequently would be a dream.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge same! Same days I’m going a little bit every hour or two, other days I can go 4-5 hours and have no issues. Darn babies and their constant somersaults! 😍❤️

  • @brie_and_almonds that's what I'm wondering too. I don't have any pain when I go and I actually empty my bladder so it doesn't seem like a UTI but the pressure/pain is getting to me!

@mrskoz428 good to know I'm not alone!

  • Well, I have a new “symptom”. My belly button is gone. 😂😂 Any extra movement or a twist in a certain direction causes my belly button to hurt. So, there’s that.

  • Not really a symptom, bu where is everyone feeling baby move? I feel baby's movement super low still (like at least a hands width underneath my belly button).

  • @MelissaMay82 I’m feeling it around there, too. From the little ultrasound I had of my kidneys and bladder I had last weekend, baby’s back was at the top of my uterus, so it’s legs and arms are still hanging out pretty low! :-) I’ll see for sure on a Wednesday.

  • @MelissaMay82 I’m feeling this one higher- usually around my belly button. But I felt DD lower like you described and I also have an anterior placenta this time.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge I am having that exact symptom. Weird pressure after going to the bathroom, but no pain actually going. It is way worse if I wait too long to go (which I do at work when I am busy). The pain only lasts for like 30 min to an hour, but it freaked me out. The triage OB nurse said it's the baby sitting close to my bladder and causing the extra pressure.
  • @MelissaMay82 I'm still feeling movement pretty low too, still a well below my belly button, sometimes it definitely feels like I'm feeling motion inside my pelvis, which is a little freaky. That said, my "bump" goes well beyond where the baby actually is with my organs all getting squished upward.

  • @mrskoz428 @chloe97 @brie_and_almonds Thanks ladies! You definitely made me feel better, my PGAL brain was getting the best of me.

  • I JUST realized this whole bladder issue is because this baby is lying super low while DS was really high! 😂😂 I had kind of known that but wasn't really understanding until now and I feel ridiculous 😂 maybe this means I won't have terrible acid reflux this time!

  • @beccaneu I've bought maternity jeans at Motherhood and Pea in a Pod my previous pregnancies. But last weekend I went shopping with my mom and tried on a pair at Target, they are my *favorite* maternity jeans I've ever had! They are the crossover style, so low in the back, full panel in the front. They make me feel SO good. I'm normally a size 12, but the 10 fit and I feel like they're so slimming.

@aels12 Yes to nipple sensitivity, but NOT in a bad way if you catch my drift haha.

@MelissaMay82 I feel baby almost exclusively on the most right side. Kiddo likes hanging out there the most. Today was the first time I felt anything to the left of my belly button. But it's normal for the top of the uterus to only reach the belly button at 20 weeks. My second was *super* low forever, and it was a while until I felt her higher.

  • I finally felt some movement from the outside 😍 so nice to just have that little reassurance of "hi, I'm here!"

  • I suddenly started having trouble breathing again about an hour ago.  I do not miss it!!! This is why I'm actually able to catch up on the threads as I'm being forced to lay down and do nothing.
But it's kind of giving me a panic attack thinking about how bad asthma could possibly be in 3rd tri. Welp!!

Also,  I feel the baby pretty low, too.

  • I hope your asthma doesn't start giving you more trouble @expandcontract! You've been through such a tough time this pregnancy with it.
