  • @eatinwatermelonseeds full grown dogs generally don’t have visible belly buttons, if there’s a lump there it could be an umbilical hernia.

  • @beccaneu thank you. I feel like I've asked her vet before, like this isn't new. But can't for the life of me remember if I actually did or what she said.

@mrskoz428 I replied to someone else above somewhere about where I got glasses from, and I listed out all the places I've purchased from. But I'm going to suggest EyeBuyDirect to you, though. Their lens upgrades are not horribly expensive. You do need to know your pupillary distance, which you can definitely measure at home with a ruler that shows mm. Since you're a teacher, I'm assuming you have one! It's easiest to have someone take a close up photo of your face with the ruler above your eyes and then you can measure. I'm sure there are better tutorials online for how to do this lol. But yeah, if you don't care about brands EyeBuyDirect or Zenni Optical are really ultra cheap. Warby Parker is trendier and start at $95/pair, but they offer in-home try on of 5 pairs for free, no obligation. With the cheaper ones you don't get to try them in person until they're already made and paid for.

  • I have several pairs of glasses from eyebuydirect. I love them.
  • Also, I did break one pair (out of like 5, which totalled less than $100) but that was because my fat butt sat on them and even the best quality glasses can't survive that 😂
  • @poshspice oh, I must have missed it scrolling through! I fell behind today! Thank you!

  • We are done shopping for the boys except I need to pick up some paint, chocolate, and play dough for their stockings. Dh and I are getting ourselves a spinning bike as a joint gift, but I still need some stuffers for his stocking. I still need a gift for mil, fil, sil and bil for this weekend when we go to see them in NJ. I also need a gift for my TA who is super sweet but also really particular (she puts a lot of thought into her gifts so I want to do something nice), and I need a gift for ds2s sitter. They always give the kids money for Christmas and birthdays so I don’t want to give money back, but want to find something to give them that would be meaningful. Ugh shopping for grown ups is so hard!! If anyone has suggestions I’m all ears!
  • @Stormiewinter I'm having trouble with that myself. I really want to get his ABA therapist a gift, but I am very limited. So, I'm thinking a Starbucks gift card or something. They have price limits there, she can't accept gifts over $10. Which is frustrating. He has 3 teachers, and I don't know any of them very well, but they're all sweet, so I want to get them something as well. I have no idea what.
  • My son tried to pull a "no girls allowed" so I pulled the technicality that baby brother is a boy so he can stay, so since he's in my belly, I can stay. Kids 🙄😂
  • @poshspice I think motherhood maternity has dress pantals, but not sure if there is one near you.

@eatinwatermelonseeds @Stormiewinter I think Starbucks gift cards or amazon gift cards are good, although I'd likely only do Amazon if it's $20 or more. The Starbucks cards are a great idea, or maybe if there is a local bakery/Cafe near their school, etc.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds For teachers I have done $5 Starbucks gift cards before. This year I bought the girls teachers packs of permanent markers in lots of fun colors. I don’t think you need to spend much at all and it’s more about the thought that counts.

  • @poshspice good luck with the job interview. I saw cute slacks in target but they didn’t have a very large selection of sizes just a few. I bought a pair of maternity pants a bit nicer than jeans at H&M If there is one near you.

i get my glasses at Zenni, I love them, but will have to try the other ones too.
  • Finally got the Christmas tree up! Have finished enough unpacking that I feel comfortable going back to the old place and cleaning. There's still a lot of our stuff there, but we won't be able to get it until this weekend. I'm okay with that, but there's a shit ton of cleaning that needs to be done before strangers come in to help us move. So, that'll be my day tomorrow. Not looking forward to it, but there's a bunch of crap I can definitely bring over tomorrow that I didn't realize we forgot until I needed them.
  • @poshspice I was also going to suggest Motherhood, I know Macy's sells their stuff and might have other maternity options too! That is SO exciting, wishing you all the luck!

@k2k2tog OMG that's too funny that DD likes your husband to read to her.

@poshspice probably a little late to be helfpul but I only have 2 pairs of actual "dress pants" that are maternity. Otherwise, I wear black, grey, or dark blue jeans (I work from home a good amount, though). I had an August baby last time so actually wore mostly dresses and had a couple maternity pencil skirts, too. One pair is motherhood maternity (as others have suggested). I can't remember if it was from the store or macy's as I bought that brand from both last pregnancy. The other is ASOS and I love them but that doesn't help for short notice since you'd have to order online. They're just a bit more stylish IMO but the motherhood pair get the job done (I wore them yesterday).

ETA I went into the office to have lunch with my 2 teammates, planning to tell them I'm pregnant so they woudl know before the rest of my 50 person broader team at our all hands and holiday potluck today. It never really came up and I didn't want to be like "oh and I have some news..." I feel like I look so pregnant, was even wearing a maternity sweater as a STM at almost 18 weeks. Idk if they were just clueless or noticed and didn't want to call me out in case. Now I think I might keep this under wraps until January if no one is going to be able to tell. I was thinking people would just figure it out when I saw everyone today but maybe I'm imagining I'm bigger than I am.

  • @kvh22 Maybe they're being polite and wondering but not asking?

I had a flowy shirt on with a sweater, and this kid at Target said, "Awww, bun in the oven" hahahah I thought it was incognito, but nooope.

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds Now because of your question, I have more questions. Is there a separate placenta for each doggie? Does the momma dog have to deliver the placenta right after each pup? Does someone snip the cord or does the mom dog take care of that? I feel like @nopegoat might know some of this with all her animals?

  • @SpaceBurger I don't know about dogs, but I watched my cat give birth. Each kitten had a placenta and momma cat ate each one after each was born, which severed the umbilical cord. And each placenta came out after each kitten. It was honestly the most gruesome thing I've ever watched 😂
  • Is anyone else super bad at eating? I'm literally wearing a napkin bib while I eat my Subway because I like this shirt and I ALWAYS get food on myself. I basically eat like a 3 year old, apparently.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds That is crazy!! But makes sense at the same time. That means.....Hilary Duff JUST DID THE NATURAL THING when she ate her placenta hahahah

  • @SpaceBurger yes 😂 that's why there's so much controversy over that. I encapsulated mine. I won't be doing that again 😂 did she eat it whole? I've heard of people adding it to smoothies. My pills gave me bad indigestion, I don't know what a smoothie would do.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds. I started crying at dinner one night last week because I had dropped food on my shirt so many times that meal, and I was just wearing an old t-shirt.
  • @fatmonica 😂 me. I cannot even count how many shirts I've stained and can't wear anymore. It's so annoying.

  • Well, due to antibiotic allergies, I am having to be admitted to the hospital to treat my kidney infection. My only option is IV antibiotics. So, that’s fucking terrifying.

  • @mrskoz428 wow, I'm so sorry! Please keep us posted. I'm glad you're getting care, but I'm sorry it's come to that.
  • I am so sorry @mrskoz428 to hear that is the only option. In hospital, hopefully you are in very good hands and they will be monitoring all. Get better soon. Kidney infections can be hard and need IV antibiotics. Keep us posted
  • @mrskoz428 so sorry, thinking of you ❤️❤️

  • So, this is random, but H asked me today if I want household stuff for Christmas. I was like "um..." "Well, I was thinking of getting an area rug and you know those aren't cheap" "oh. Well, we could just buy household stuff in leiu of getting each other gifts" "oh, no. I want stuff for the garage" okay, then don't get me a freaking rug 🙄 he used to be so good at gifts. Now he just doesn't seem like he cares.
  • @mrskoz428 hope you are on the mend quickly!

@kvh22 I have not been hiding my pregnancy at all lately and was assuming everyone was just being too polite to ask (because I feel like I look huge) but I had a CSE meeting yesterday and when my co teacher mentioned it to my colleagues they were all genuinely shocked. Happened again today with some other co workers too. So now I don’t know whether everyone is just so self absorbed this time a year, or they all just looked at me and figure I was packing on some extra pounds for the winter?
  • Thanks everyone for the advice! I got slacks from Motherhood maternity. I had to hunt the store and they had like 1 pair of black Medium slacks because apparently everyone in my area is a medium, also.

Does anyone work for their county? My job interview tomorrow is a county job, and I’m pretty nervous that they are just going to hire internally and not take my interview seriously. I don’t know, I always feel like there’s nepotism involved with hiring for state/county/city jobs.

@mrskoz428 I’m sorry you have to be admitted to the hospital! I hope they can get you healthy and you can go home soon!

  • Thanks everyone! I’m in an overflow observation room for now until a hospital room opens up. Obviously the hospital is pretty packed. They are going to do an ultrasound of my kidneys tonight (wish they could just take a quick peak at baby, too! Early anatomy scan? 😂). It’s 9:00 pm here, DH and I are sharing a tiny twin size hospital bed for the night. Spoonfest, I suppose.

@mrskoz428 I'm so sorry to hear but am glad that it was finally diagnosed! That constipation diagnosis just made no sense. I hope you get into a room soon and FX everything is ok.

@poshspice I don't work for a county but work for the State and have been a hiring manager 2x, have been part of hiring for several others. Although there is a chance that there is an internal candidate in mind, it's also likely there isn't one. Sometimes if there is an internal candidate, the job doesn't even have to be posted outside of State employees for us, so there may be a good chance that it is up for anyone. Best of luck!!
  • @mrskoz428 I hope you are feeling better soon and you get to go home asap!
  • Well, fucking super, I’m allerigc to the IV antibiotic that they are giving me. Rash all over my chest, stomach, and head. For fucking crying out loud! I was so close to finishing the dose of antibiotics, too!
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @mrskoz428 what did they give you? Are you typically allergic to penicillin? Not asking because I have any advice, just curious-- so, you can completely disregard these questions as they're useless lol.

I'm so so so sorry. You need a fucking break. I hope they're able to find something you can take 😩

So. I was just browsing January and someone named their daughter Philomena. Which I'm guessing is pronounced Phil-o-me-nuh. But my brain immediately said phil-ah-men-uh which then got that song stuck in my head. The do-do-do-dododo *manamana* do-do-dodo. Totally not saying anything bad about the name, just this was the first thing to pop into my head when I mispronounced it 😂

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds I am allergic to penicillin, amoxycillin, and augmentine, hence the IV anti-biotic because that’s what they wanted to give me in the first place. They gave my vancomycin IV. 2 hours into the dose, I broke out a a red rash. So, IV Benadryl and back to the drawing board. They are out of ideas and need to contact the infectious disease people, now. They may pre-treat me with Benadryl and keep doing the vancomycin since it’s really my only option. They’ll know more in the morning. Baby is PISSED though, about something. Squirming and stretching all over the place!
