Re: Symptoms Week of 12/10 - 12/15

  • I threw up so hard this morning that my nose started bleeding 😕 That makes only twice now I've *actually* gotten sick, both have been during second trimester. Really feeling that glow 🙄

  • @imrachellea I just came to post something similar! I am so sorry you are dealing with it too.

I am so tired of feeling sick and tired and not wanting food. I have to go food shopping and I honestly have no idea what to buy because nothing is appetizing. I almost threw up my dinner again last night so I didn't get to eat it.

On the plus side, I am definitely starting to feel baby move a little now! It is still a bubbly feeling but it is more clearly baby. It makes me so happy.

  • You ladies are still sick in 2nd trimester?? Oh, dear :( I've heard of that happening but didn't really know it was a thing. I am so sorry. That nonsense stopped for me at 9 weeks and I was so relieved - I hope it passes for you both soon.
I'm relatively asymptomatic now, except the bone-crushing fatigue is creeping in like a thick, nasty fog. I can't stay awake past 9 pm without snoozing on the couch. But at least I'm not falling asleep at work (yet). My pelvic and round ligament pain suck now. I can't stand up for more than 15 minutes without needing a break. I am going to research belly support bands after the holidays. I want one that'll wrap my hips tightly so my lower body doesn't feel like it's literally coming apart.
  • @wishiwaspreggo Yikes! I am sorry you are already dealing with ao much RLP. A support band is a good idea, especially with twins. I hope it helps.
  • @wishiwaspreggo I actually didn't really get sick first trimester, was just nauseas. The actually getting sick hadn't happened until recently. It's pretty cruel because I thought I lucked out. I couldn't eat more than a bite of my breakfast this morning (same thing I've been eating every single morning for months) without dry heaving. Then I grabbed a banana because it sounded more appealing and I started throwing up in the trash can in front of my preschoolers. Pregnancy is glamorous.

  • @lappymom2019 - It's okay :) I had a really severe case of RLP with my son, too. If I'm sitting or laying down I don't even notice it though so it's fine. I'll probably have to start renting a cart at the grocery store in a month or so if a belly band doesn't do the trick but it's very short-term and unnoticeable unless I overdo it physically. I'm gonna get my Y membership back next month when they have their discounts and swim a couple times a week. That relieves the pain soooooooooooooo much.
  • @imrachellea - That is terrible!!!! Did it just start recently? Maybe it's just a fluke and it'll get better soon... That is very cruel indeed, to get to 2nd tri and only just now start barfing. I'm very lucky in that nausea has never been a prominent symptom for me. The first 9 weeks I had 3-5 hours of nausea a day in the later afternoon through the evening and I bitched about it incessantly (because nausea is very abnormal for me anyway and I find it extremely uncomfortable). With twins I realize I dodged a major bullet.
But hey, one trimester down and two more to go. We can do this!!
  • @wishiwaspreggo I know you are pregnant with twins so I am sure you are getting bigger faster than me, but I am so huge compared to my first and I am starting to get aches and pains- particularly in my lower back. I may break out the belly support band this week at 16 weeks, which seems a bit early to me b/c I think I was well into the 30's when I broke it out with DD.

Did anyone have diastasis recti with their first and feel it coming back earlier this time? My upper ab muscles are already aching. With DD, if I moved sharply from one side to the other in bed, I would feel like I tore my ab muscles. I had days where I just laid in bed in pain, it sucked.  I have a feeling that I will be heading to PT early with this one. DH's cousin who is due 5/8 already got sent to PT for sciatica. It sucks b/c I have to use PTO since the women's health physical therapist only works during the day, but the massages she gave me on my hips were incredible. If your Dr recommends it and you can find the time to go, I recommend it.
  • @chloe97 - Yes. My 15 week bump is already bigger than my 20 week bump with my first! My skin is itchy where it's stretching faster than normal. My OB told me to expect my stomach to grow rapidly the next few weeks. And she said the pain will intensify. I don't doubt that. I never used a belly band with my first (probably should have) and just went to a chiropractor instead. I may do that again since it's basically free with my insurance. I love the machine they have you lay on that bends your back for you and gives you a nice, pressure-relieving crack down the spine.
I've never had diastasis recti - that sounds dreadful though :anguished: haven't had problems with my upper belly, just the lower part where my uterus is expanding and down my hips through to my pelvic bone where my joints are coming undone.
  • I'm feeling baby move here and there! It's pretty deep and internal, so it's not like anyone else can really feel it right now, but I definitely remember this feeling from last time.

  • I am feeling baby quite a bit but I’m looking forward to some stronger movement and DH being able to feel it. I think he may have felt the girls around 21/22 weeks but I really can’t remember. Otherwise feeling good. Although in the last couple of days the RLP when I sneeze has been so painful!!

  • @chloe97 I had diastis recti with my first pregnancy that never totally went away.  So this pregnancy I’ve been really on top of exercises for it per my Pilates instructor to try to keep it from getting much worse.  Not sure if it’s doing much, but I guess it couldn’t hurt...
  • @anonellis I'm also staying on top of my Pilates and honestly I think its what has saved me from all the hip pain and sciatic pain that I was experiencing very early in my pregnancy.
I'm not a doctor but for anyone still experiencing back pain or sciatic pain I recommend acupuncture and Pilates.

I just had my very first leg cramp this morning; felt like the worst charlie horse pain I've ever had. I cried out in pain - my poor husband didn't know what was going on and jumped out of bed.
  • I have peed 18 times today. 18! What the hell! I’m raw from using shitty school toilet paper!

  • @mrskoz428 bring your own TP! I had to when i was teaching while pregnant the first time. It helped a lot!!!
  • @mrskoz428 - dang, girl! 18 times? I don't usually get THAT bad until I'm well past 30 weeks. I both cringe and feel for you!
My cravings have been very wacky. Fruits and veggies, whole grains, tons of dairy, leafy greens, and gallons of water. This is the healthiest I've ever eaten. It feels weird to WANT health food. I fully admit to being one of those adult children who really doesn't *like* vegetables. I'm not so bad that I won't eat them, and make sure to include them daily, but I definitely don't enjoy eating them. Yet last night I was munching on raw broccoli like it was going out of style. Now I'm eating shredded wheat with bananas. Quite possibly the blandest cereal option available in America, yet I find it very delicious. I've been eating a bowl a day. So, so weird.
  • @wishiwaspreggo @journey721 yes, 18! I don’t go very much when I do but my kidneys hurt if I don’t go!

  • I am amazed how uncomfortable I am this early in the game. I wasn't like this until much later the first time, and I never had RLP at all. I'm already dealing with it, especially when sitting in a certain position with my feet up on the couch. It's so odd.

  • My nerves are on HIGH. Anatomy scan tomorrow. Both NIPT and quad screen came back with great results but i still can’t settle my brain. That’s my symptom of the week. Nerves.
  • @journey721 good luck tomorrow! I am always a wreck before my appointments.
  • This lower back pain is kicking my butt today my poor DH fingers are going to fall off from all the back rubs he’s been giving me. Only 22 weeks to go....hopefully!
  • @Stormiewinter all done! I don’t get to see doctor til Friday to go over results but tech said “all measured right on schedule” so im holding on to that.
  • @jwalters2019 I’m in the same boat with lower back pain, but DH hates giving me massages. It’s soooo annoying. I went for a prenatal massage Monday night and already feel shitty again. I can’t start prenatal  yoga for another week bc we are out of town, but hoping that works in losing up those muscles. Also, I need to figure out my work chair situation. We got new chairs last year and it apparently has built in lumbar support, but it’s not helping my back. My lumbar support pillow doesn’t fit on it either. Thinking about asking HR for a new chair or seeing if they have suggestions.
  • I’m feeling super awful today. I just had a huge wave of nausea that I can’t get rid of. I feel really bad. I can barely help my students because I’m afraid I’ll upchuck. This is totally new. I’m not sure if it’s from lack of sleep or something else.

  • I've been pretty symptom free, but I had one today that kind of startled me a little.  I had a pretty big sneeze this morning, and when it happened a pain shot through my stomach/groin area.  I've been starting to notice more pressure/tightness, so I pretty much associated it with that, but it hurt!  Is that normal?

@jwalters2019 I just recently started with the lower back pain and sciatic pain.  I went and had a prenatal massage (per doctors suggestion) and it actually helped!  I don't know how long the relief will last but I'll take it for now!
  • @llhfreedom that sounds like round ligament pain. It hurts like a bitch. I get it now just from turning over too fast in bed or something. It's awful. But totally normal. The round ligaments hold the uterus in place and right now the uterus is stretching and pulling on those ligaments.
  • @mrskoz428 I hope you didn't catch a stomach bug. Maybe call you Dr and mention that and the peeing 18 times a day thing and see if they want to see you.
  • @mrskoz428 I agree with @chloe97 totally worth a mention to the doctor along with the frequent urination and excessive hunger. I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy.

@eatinwatermelonseeds @chloe97 doing an e-visit when I get home. My coworkers rock and took my students so I could go home.

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds Thank you!  I figured it was probably normal, but it was the first time it happened and caught me so off-guard that it kind of scared me a little.
  • JK, no e-visits for pregnant people. Called the nurses/midwife. Will go to urgent care when DH gets home if they don’t just prescribe something

  • @llhfreedom literally the same thing happened to me this morning. I've been having really weird, almost like allergy symptoms. Which is strange since it's literally freezing outside and everything is dead.

  • @mrskoz428 I am glad you are going to urgent care. I hope everything is okay. Keep us posted!
  • @lappymom2019 urine test came back clean. They think I’m constipated (I’m not) but most other tests they’d run require radiation which they don’t want to do. So I go home with instructions to take Metamucil....joy...
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @mrskoz428 did they take any blood or check your blood sugar?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds nope. He is very convinced, despite my symptoms, that I’m constipated.

  • @mrskoz428 😡 this was urgent care?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds yep. He honestly didn’t seem super confident in even that but wanted to send me to ER to do ultrasounds of my spleen and kidney. I’m just annoyed. The poor nurse looked a little confused when she discharged me. 🤷🏽‍♀️
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @mrskoz428 ugh. Unfortunately ER and urgent Care doctors aren't specialized in ob care and there's a huge disconnect.. I'm sure he knows SOME about pregnancy, but not enough to be confident and accurately diagnose. If possible, I highly recommend trying to get an earlier appointment with your midwife or ob. Just to double check. That's really strange.
